Ledkr I think you're the kind of sw most families would either love to have, or need to have!
I did marac training recently too, it was really good. Yes I work with the people who run it, was there an idva doing your training? I have only attended one but put forward quite a few women for marac due to risk unfortunately. Does your dh have to go to them as part of his job or is there a dv specialist?

Report
Creameggkr · 01/04/2013 11:03

No he doesn't its the dv officers who do.
I wouldn't mind doing IDVA training I really need a change.
I've been to one and was amazed at the tiny amount of time given to each case.
I'm going to do the dv awareness training too but I do find it tough going due to my past experiences. Sad
I am interested in running the freedom programme too.

ILovePonyo · 01/04/2013 14:02

Ooh I'm doing dv awareness training soon, shame we're not in the same place we'd be doing the same one :)
I was surprised at the marac just how matter of fact it is, i know its due to having to get finished on time but some of the things they were talking about were so shocking, horrific assualts etc, but just having to reel them off like it 'normal'.
IVDA's work is very challenging, all the IDVA's at my work are slightly scary intimidating women Grin I went to the courtroom once with one of them and the female solicitor representing our women was fantastic, really knew her stuff and cut down all of the (male) defence solicitors who were bleating on about how the man was a family man at heart after he'd battered his missus while the kids watched Hmm
Most of the women at my work have had some personal experience of dv, I think its common and whilst it is hard (my first boyf was very abusive) it gives you an insight you wouldn't have otherwise. (quite a few ex social workers there too!)

Just been to the park, fecking freezing :(

Yeah I went out and ran the fuck back in again lol.
Just trying to get d to nap so dh and I can watch back to back cheaters!
Scary intimidating women you say, obviously not right for me then Grin
Yes dh says lots of the make solicitors play down dv Shock on likened a victims facial bruising to injurys sustained on a rugby pitch!
Dh is my hero as he always goes for max charges when it's dv..
I might make the move. I defo need to deal with my own crap first tho.
It was pretty serious and sustained and I believe he would have killed me.
Shhhhh enough about that

Ah ledkr I'm sorry Sad Fwiw I think you'd be brilliant working in dv support role, but agree it would have to be when it's right for you.
If you look into it let me know how you get on/what you find? Pm me if you prefer.
Good for your dh, I was shocked that the solicitors can do that, it was one of those "how do they sleep at night" moments but I imagine they don't care as long as they're getting paid.
One chap in court on trial was wearing a tshirt with 'LOL' on it, I couldn't believe it Hmm

Report
americanexpat · 01/04/2013 16:50

I suppose solicitors have to work for their client but playing down DV is not on. Angry And it's often not just physical abuse, unlike the rugby pitch. Hmm

reastie - you look fab, I can definitely see that you've lost quite a lot of weight. I think FB allows you to group your friends and limit what each group sees. I'm friends with a lot of people I was in school with that I don't speak with anymore but I do like looking at photos of their children. Grin A few have been blocked from my newsfeed though, due to too many political posts. Quite a few actually. Blush

wiggles - Lucky Mr w to have such a concerned wife. Grin To be honest, 7C would be quite balmy for me, we're supposed to have a high of 3C today. Hmm

I think I have another ear infection, in my middle ear instead of the canal. Sad I've started taking the antibiotics my GP prescribed for the first one and that the 2nd doctor told me to stop taking because they wouldn't help (hope that makes sense). I'll give it a couple days to improve, otherwise back to the GP. I can't catch a fecking break. Sad

american how miserable re: ear infections. I had recurrent ear infections for ages a while ago and it was really annoying, hope they get it sorted

Honestly I could never be a sw. Mucho respect to you

So glad I don't do FB
D was funny tonight has had no naps but couldn't seem to settle at all.
Had to have a big cuddle instead.
I'm loving her at the moment she's so sweet. I keep thinking of how poorly she was and how lucky we are to have her.

ponyo glad move to big bed is going ok Smile

americanexpat hope you start to turn a corner re ears x I know it doesn't seem that cold but one of the reasons I put up with a constant drizzle all year round is to avoid weather extremes Grin

reastie just got on laptop to have a nosy at your pics. You look fab x Again well done.

ledkr I will very quietly offer some unsolicited advice - at some point you will need to crack open the lid on that painful box. I saw your thread in FWR last week, please don't think you'd be wasting anybodys time, sweetheart x

Finally starting to warm up after our day out brrr Smile

Thanks wiggs but I don't think I can. It's better off shut as it has been for years. I talk to dh and then close it.
It doesn't affect my life often and ds needs my help far more than me having a breakdown.
Sometimes if you open up its hard to get it back in.
Also planning a chilly day out tomorrow. We will wrap up warm and leave a curry in the slow cooker.

Yawn, night 2 in her big bed didn't go so well, she kept getting up at 3am and coming into our room, I was too knacked to keep putting her back so just let her into our bed where she kicked me for about an hour before going to sleep

Ledkr how is your ds? Did he get dla, where is he at operation wise?

A seems to have done that weird thing where she's grown up a bit again overnight, she just seems a bit bigger and her speech has come on again. She started singing the alphabet the other day! (Not all of it obvs) She's clearly got that from nursery not me Grin

ponyo he's ok. Still waiting for a donor. Amazing when you consider most people have two! Obviously people not carrying cards or registering.
He's not at work now as PRIMARK were arseholes to him after working there for 7yrs.
Life on benefits isn't the party it's made out to be so it falls to us to fill in the financial gaps. He's lovely tho and hardly complains. The girls adore him. Still waiting for DLA decision. It would really help if he gets it but I'm not holding my breath.
D loved the farm and marched around feeing the goats etc. her fearless nature caused a stir on the giant bouncy pillow Grin
She is a bit poorly today and I can hear her coughing like mad now do not sure how my night will be.
Three sleeps till one direction ha ha Ella is positively buzzing off the walls.

Thanks for missing me ledkr noone else did obviously

It's taken me about an hour just to read this new thread.

Computer's fixed now, back from Travels so I'm back online. I got so much done though when I couldn't get on the internet I'm going to try not to go on so much now fat chance

I now have a four year old Shock- we find out which school she's got into on Friday . S is still my lovely ray of sunshine, such a happy child.

reastie would love to pretend to be you again at Hever, I've never been. Thank you :) Lets wait till the weather's a bit warmer (assuming it ever actually gets above freezing).

I do wonder where people are but usually forget to post about it. Blush I'd been meaning to ask about ledkr's DS for weeks, after she mentioned him on another thread. My short-term memory is pretty rubbish.

Ponyo - L does the alphabet tune but with random letters. Grin The same with Twinkle Twinkle. They seem to be learning so much, don't they? [makes renewed effort to watch language around L]

wiggles - The only way I get through winter is to know I'll be properly roasting in August. Grin I'll almost certainly be whinging about the heat in a few months.

We have been pre-approved for a mortgage so are officially house hunting now. Grin The amount they'd be willing to lend us is shocking, clearly no mortgage crisis here. Hmm We're trying to arrange a meeting with an estate agent next week, meanwhile I'm snooping online and criticising people's paint colour choices. Grin

americanexpat very exciting Smile , if a little bit scary! My brother and sister in law are sort of in the same position. They are so used to living in different places but are really settled now in DC so it makes sense for them to buy.

Ponyo Anna has been doing the sneaky getting taller whilst sleeping for the past few weeks!

HobNob welcome back x

Olivia had her consultants appointment today, he took one look at the throat and she's on the list! They need to come out pretty quickly. Am pleased that things are moving on but am also a bit Sad that her throat was so bad that it took all of 2 seconds for him to decide.

ledkr am Envy re One Direction, a few of Sofias friends went a few weeks ago - Ella should have a ball!

wiggles - poor O, can't believe it took so long to get a referral. Sad Do you know when you'll have a date? Yes, we're the same as your B/SIL - we've had a very "exciting" life (actually quite boring but you know what I mean) but I'm ready to settle some place permanently. DH's parents moved around a lot when he was young and he doesn't want the same for L.

L has been in full Terrible Twos mode lately. Full-on tantrums throwing himself to the floor and screaming. He's also wanting to walk everywhere and not be carried - as we live on the 2nd floor, it's now a 10 minute process to get him to the car, followed by a tantrum when he realises he has to go in his carseat. Hmm

Report
reastie · 04/04/2013 18:45

american Alice likes walking herself too (usually at the most hurried of times). It's frustrating having to allow over ten minutes just to get to the car isn't it? Good luck with house hunting. Now you'll have to link to some you nosy at so I can see just how big American houses really are (I imagine you and tad in desperate housewives type abodes)

wiggles glad you've got the OK for the op even if it has taken so long.

Ledkr enjoy one erection (is it just me who still wants to call them that?!)

hobs great - we'll do Hever when it gets nicer then Grin . Good luck for the school place news tomorrow

ponyo how's the big bed going?

Am in my proper pre pregnancy jeans today. not my 'fat' jeans, my normal ones they're a bit tight but we'll gloss over that AND have done an hour of back/chest strength exercises on my new dvd set today .

Hi all, nearly at pil, A has been really good for the whole 4 hours in the car, we've only had to stop once!

Reastie she's stayed in her bed all night the last 2 nights, I'm amazed! Smile

Will try and update from pil, hope everyone is well.
