No mars bars for anyone else! I have eaten them all Blush

Daisy for eczema, cut out all soap / bath bubble stuff if you're using any - they don't need it at this stage and their skin can't really take it. Even the 'baby' stuff like Johnsons and Cussons, which is a load of crap. You then need and emollient or oil to keep the skin hydrated. Epaderm on prescription is great - use that a few times a day and definitely after a bath when the skin is warm and damp. Aveeno also good, olive / grapeseed / sunflower oil (you said you were going to baby massage - use one of these for the massaging?). If it persists, get the doctor to take a look, as with eczema secondary infections are possible and then you'll need hydrocortisone cream to clear it up (antibiotics in extreme cases, but unlikely with a baby) before going back to the routine I describe, which if you stick to it prevents future flare ups.

HTH. DH and LO suffer!

rootypig · 20/03/2013 14:04

ps for all eczema-y babies, it often clears up once they're toddlers, not necessarily a lifelong thing. when the sun comes out if it ever fucking does that will help too. cold and central heating are the pits for dry skin.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 20/03/2013 14:12

That is what I was thinking vq. The HV said to go and have him weighed again when we get back from NI so I will do that and ask her what she thinks.

Titsalinabumsquash · 20/03/2013 14:47

Can I ask how much everyone's LO weighs now? (Roughly!)

I only ask because people keep commenting on how tiny J is compered to similar aged babies, he was 7lb 3oz at birth and has just doubled his birth weight at 21 weeks, although he is in anything from 3-9 month clothes depending on what it is and the brand... I'll get him weighed on Monday, he's always followed the 25th percentile but it's a reoccurring comment from other people.

Brockle · 20/03/2013 15:00

ds1 was always like that, really petite. Y is 14.8 pounds and has dropped from the 90th percentile to the 50th. he has just found his line. all my babies tracked under the 50th line, they are just naturally smaller even though they came out larger. don't worry x

Pikz · 20/03/2013 15:08

Tits I have a 16.5lb probably 17lb now baby at 16.5 weeks. He was 7lb6 at birth.

Most TT aren't spotted unless feeding issues and most won't make a difference if cut or not. A lot of children have them with no ill effect. However if you have had feeding issues go to breastfeeding support group... They were the only people here who could send you. I had LO cut at 6 weeks. I know it's ridiculous that unless feeding issues won't do anything but they won't :(

ChunkyEasterChick · 20/03/2013 15:15

Tits DS was 6lb 15oz at birth (9th centiles iirc) then rose to 50th centile (just above) meaning he was 15lb 1oz ish last Tues at 17wks. DD was also born on 9th (6lb 5oz) but took just under 6mths to double birth weight & rise to 50th centile. So, whilst DS is HUGE for me (& lots of people say he's big), he's actually perfectly average. DD was the opposite - always in the clothes size below her age & everyone saying she was small. I think 25th centile is a smaller-average rather than being 'small'. It also depends on clothing I think. Boots t-shirts are skinny fit on DS, whilst Sainsbury babygros are long & slightly baggy, both 3-6mths. I think people sometimes say things without thinking or just to say something - like judging bump sizes, its all clobbers....

Kyzordz · 20/03/2013 15:16

Tits I have the opposite, everyone thinking Eric is 'massive' and at least 6 months old. He was 16lb 8 at 17 weeks, and was born 7lb 4.5. However I think he looks fine, he has gone up rather than down on centiles and hv reckons he is too big and drinks too much, so you can't win either way! Does j seem ok to you? He drinks fine and is gaining?

capedcrusader25 · 20/03/2013 15:23

tits O was 7lb 3oz at birth too, is 20+ weeks and last Thursday was 13lb 3oz. She's still in 0-3 and in some cases up to 1 month clothes.
I'm also sad that it sounds like not much will be done for O if she does indeed have lip and tongue tie as she's ff (she's absolutely does). She has massive feeding issues and its been a really horrible and constant battle :(
Ah well, I shan't grumble anymore. Kudos to all of us, for being fab parents to all of our lovely children - we are fucking ace.

Catbag · 20/03/2013 15:34

Inside Health (on Radio 4 now) going to be talking about links between swaddling and hip dysplaxia (sp?), if anyone is interested?

PurplePidjin · 20/03/2013 15:35

6lb3 at birth now 11lb at 16 weeks. Tracking just above the 0.4th, but then dp and i are both 5'4" so it's in the genes!

ChasingDaisy · 20/03/2013 15:45

Thanks for all skin advice. Have been using Aveeno on his face and scalp and it is the mutts nuts. Going to introduce a massage after bath so will use that or olive oil. Aveeno is bloody expensive though, Clarella you got it on prescription?

Baby group was good. O cried during massage as predicted but enjoyed sitting on my lap sans clothes, watching everyone and charming them with his cuteness.

I still picked up the technique and chatted to other mums so it was good.

ChasingDaisy · 20/03/2013 15:46

Oh, O was 6lb 1oz at birth and has tracked the 25th centile since. He weighed 13lb 3oz at 14 weeks and is wearing 0-3 in the body and 3-6 in the legs.

ChunkyEasterChick · 20/03/2013 15:52

caped what about a private consultation with this group? Milk Matters I think it was about £150...

gardenpixie32 · 20/03/2013 15:57

DT1 was 5lb7 at birth and was 13lb at 21 weeks - 25th centile
DT2 was 6lb1 at birth and was 14lb1 at 21 weeks - 9th centile

PetiteRaleuse · 20/03/2013 16:11

Not sure how much she weighs now but LO had doubled her birth weight by 19 weeks, and moved from 50 to 75 centile for weight. Height not in proportion and dropped to 25 centile.

PetiteRaleuse · 20/03/2013 16:13

Ihave no idea how I will get the antibiotics into her. Doc says it's strange she had zero symptoms, but it is definitely pus. Drops and antibiotics for a week. Normally wouldn't prescribe antibiotics immediately but at her age needs to nail it quickly.

justonemorecake · 20/03/2013 16:13

E weighed 14pounds5 when she was last weighed four weeks ago, so at 13 weeks. But I am quite tall and so are most of my family. She is very long.

Reading the talk on lip tie, I thought some of the issues sounded very similar to E - very frequent feeding, pulling on and off while feeding, wind, funny poos - so I checked for lip tie, and I think she has it! If it turns out she does I will be quite annoyed, as I have mentioned all these issues to several health visitors, two different GPs and a breast feeding support volunteer. If I want it checked should I go to see my GP or the health visitor? Or go to the breast feeding support group at the local hospital?

Sorry to hear about poorly babies, sleep regressions and any other troubles!

I meant to write a very sweary post in honour of sweary Wednesday, but I'm not very good at swearing!

PetiteRaleuse · 20/03/2013 16:15

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

justonemorecake · 20/03/2013 16:16

Also, is it possible that I could have had tongue/lip tie? My mum really struggled to breast feed me as I just wouldn't latch on, and she ended up bottle feeding me.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 20/03/2013 16:18

cat I did just listen to that Actually but I didn't at the beginning.

Well, lip tie or not this weaning malarchy seems to suit Little O a treat. Obviously he is not replacing his milk but just first tastes, he loves it and actually seems happier generally.

capedcrusader25 · 20/03/2013 16:19

Thanks chunky :) I'm going the dentist tomorrow so will take her along. Also going to doctors Friday as she's only had 330ml so far today :( I just want her to be ok.

capedcrusader25 · 20/03/2013 16:21

And my mum has just told me she thinks I had it. Either me or my brother but she can't remember. When my (or my db's) two top teeth cane through there was a bit of skin there and it was very sore and bleeding. Argh!

PetiteRaleuse · 20/03/2013 16:36

Ooh either the spoonful of meds surprised her or she liked it. First dose easy. Thank fuck for that.

ChunkyEasterChick · 20/03/2013 16:43

Have you got a syringe PR?

And caped & justone the website I suggested says that TT has a hereditary factor... I think my DD may have had a slight TT as she was v windy & had reflux issues as a result, but can't be sure. She has a lisp (both my DM & I have a slight lisp & our tongues "get drunk" easily after surprisingly few drinks) so there might be a family tendency.
