It's a small world Grin.

O is really good! Am scared to be optimistic! He's currently in his swing, just woken up from a nap, and is eating a muslin. Oh to be a baby again! Simple pleasures Wink.

Oh she has messaged me...brb!

ChasingDaisy · 17/03/2013 13:37

O loves eating muslins. no not Muslims autocorrect. Honest

TheDetective · 17/03/2013 13:46
Grin Grin Grin

Our library does nursery rhymes and bookstart playgroups, the council provides baby massage and baby sensory classes for free. I got tons of leaflets from health visitor when I asked, it's worth to explore them.

TheDetective · 17/03/2013 13:49

O is still eating the muslin. Grin Must be entertaining!

Catbag · 17/03/2013 13:51

S has just started showing a fondness for muslin-chewing in the last few days too... Hmm

TheDetective · 17/03/2013 13:53

DP informs me that last night went well apparently! O woke at his usual 2 and 6ish times, and DP got him back in the cot at the 2am feed, and then came in with us at 6am. He was up just before 8.

I on the other hand slept from 1am til 11am. I did wake when O did to hit DP but that was it! And no DP waking me every 10 minutes from 9am 'are you getting up now, when are you getting up, are you getting up yet...' ARGHHHH! It is my turn for a full night sleep and lie in, piss off and leave me, I'll be up before lunch okay?!

gardenpixie32 · 17/03/2013 13:53

Have had a productive Sunday. DP at work today so got loads done.

After careful consideration (and a bit of disappointment) I have realised the girls will need to be weaned on purees as they are not physically able enough to sit in a high chair for more than a little while to eat. I will have to feed them in the bouncy chairs. So today I made and froze the following mush...carrots, sweet potato, and butternut. I made enough for 2 weeks. Going to start them on sweet potato today and see what they make of that. I have given them florets of broccoli this past week and they have chomped nicely on it in their bouncy chairs but they are not really suitable for BLW. As soon as they can manage to sit up for a fair amount of time I plan to ditch the purees.

Looking forward to seeing how they do!

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend :)

Catbag · 17/03/2013 13:53

Must be a boy thing. R just cuddles it while sucking her fingers Confused

TheDetective · 17/03/2013 13:53

Cat Muslins are good for snuggling and eating in this house!

Dicks Google 'Jack Newman lactation video' and you will find videos on how to ensure a good latch. The bfing specialist I saw observed that J wasn't latched on correctly and advised me to go back to basics. I tried skin-to-skin but it was too ticklish for both of us! First I let J have a short feed to get past the initial spray of milk. Then I unlatch him my putting my little finger into his mouth to break the suction. Then with him in nose to nipple position I run my nipple along his top lip and wait for him to gape - open his mouth wide with his tongue down. Then I bring his mouth on to the nipple by pushing him on at the shoulders, apparently you shouldn't touch his head or neck, so that the nipple points towards the roof of his mouth and he has a good mouthful of breast. I make sure his body is tucked in tight to mine, usually holding him in by the bum once he's on. When his sucking slows I use breast compressions to keep him going a bit longer while he's getting the hindmilk. I'd say this technique works about half the time and he gets a good feed. Other times he seems to slip down a bit and end up just sucking on my nipple yowch! Tbh I think he / we just need more practice. I was block feeding until yesterday but I was worried about the effect on my supply so I have gone back to one side per feed and expressing if I start to feel a bit full. Yesterday he managed two four-hour stretches at night which we haven't had in three weeks. He did cluster feed in the evening and then he demanded both sides this morning. Hopefully some of this will ring a bell as to what you can do to improve matters.

Jeez watching Call the Midwife was a bad idea Sad. This better have a happy ending...

TheDetective · 17/03/2013 14:15

GRRR! Stupid FB won't let me upload pics to our group! What is going wrong!!

BTW, who needs crawling! Oscar has escaped the change mat and is currently throwing himself by rocking from side to side, around the room, with out a nappy on!

Bloody hell Shock. He's covering some distance here!

TheDetective · 17/03/2013 14:22

I am crying at how much O is doing right now! The leaps are immense! I suppose because he hasn't been able to do them while going through the whole reflux thing, they are more evident now he is happy to be put down and to play!

He's giggling like mad at peepo!

And throwing shapes around the room still!

Funny bugger!

rootypig · 17/03/2013 14:29

pixie do you have bumbo or similar? I am planning to start weaning S in bumbo with the little table - better fit and more support than most highchairs. just a thought.

ChasingDaisy · 17/03/2013 14:35

I was thinking of starting O in his bumbo too. I don't see him being able to sit in a highchair in 10 weeks time.

Det that must be so lovely to see Smile. He sounds like such a happy little thing. O is really starting to discover his body and what it can do. I love watching him.

TheDetective · 17/03/2013 14:39

Ok so I'm getting the notifications that we are trying to post on fb, but nothing on there!

Yes Sophia it is broked! Grin

Erm. How do we fix it?!

TheDetective · 17/03/2013 14:41

After 6 weeks of clingy baby, and very little in the way of change, it's amazing to see! I love watching them!

ChasingDaisy · 17/03/2013 14:43

Snap! I am getting the notifications too. No idea how to fix it though....

gardenpixie32 · 17/03/2013 14:44

rooty, yes we have Bumbos with trays but they are still not able to sit in them and feed themselves. I can definitely see a difference with them and other babies their age, mine are a bit behind.

ChasingDaisy · 17/03/2013 14:45

O is going to MIL's with him for a few hours. Back at bedtime. Sad but will give me chance to catch up on stuff and eat dinner.

ChasingDaisy · 17/03/2013 14:49

Do you think all the replies on my post broke it? Don't want to delete it though, lots of good advice on there.

rootypig · 17/03/2013 14:55

FB has been a bit temperamental for a few days, not just that thread. maybe a new post Daisy? I think the quiche would welcome an update on how you're feeling anyway Smile

ChasingDaisy · 17/03/2013 14:56

I can't post anything on there Sad. Can't even comment on any photos.

Pikz · 17/03/2013 15:03

Mine has just started working again. Think it's a Facebook problem.

Detective that is awesome...I can't wit to see pics.

Garden I too will wean probably in bimbo or bouncy chair on top setting.

I have been for a pub roastie and he slept the whole way through! Woop!
