Instead of marking place, please could those of us with older siblings post something (positive) they are looking forward to as our babies get older. I think it would cheer us up since so many are struggling at the moment.

May sound a stupid question, but what is a BCG?

Madame your post about dh getting compliments from older women made my smile. My DH and l split childcare equally and he gets lots more attention and fuss than l do when he?s out with the pushchair. Also get some women, clearly used to a traditional set up, acting as if he is a saint for ?helping out?.

Hope things work out for the best apple andmm and that O gets the treatment he ddeserves detective. Don?t think l can compete wwith ironed jeans fatima but l will try not to have any visible patches of baby sick!

fairimum · 12/03/2013 21:57

How did it go Detective??

MissMummy1 · 12/03/2013 21:58

I met 4 very beautiful babies today Grin and abused my ikea family card too

M is not tired. Wee sod chatted away to her octopus the whole way back until we hit the bridge, at which point she dosed off for 10 mins Confused . She is now wide awake. Sad

Anyway, despite my rage this morning I have had a lovely day and met some very lovely ladies and babies. I propose a weekend quiche meet somewhere central for all Grin

So, GP appt was a TOTAL waste of time. I must have seen the most junior GP. She didn't really understand anything about reflux, and after speaking to another GP refused to prescribe any different meds, and said that they aren't allowed to. Bull shit. Absolute bull shit. I got very assertive, and basically said if you are going to leave my child in pain, and refuse to prescribe what are basic reflux medications, then I am going to A&E. She said I would be wasting their time. I said she was wasting mine. Her only solution was to refer me to paeds, and that would be a 4-6 week wait to be seen. I asked her to refer me to where I work. She refused because it is 'out of area'.

Fuck off.

I rang my colleagues, they let the paeds know, and I rocked up at kids A&E where he was seen straight away. He gave a fabulous refusal to feed demo screaming, doing 3 sucks, push bottle away, and vomit it straight back up. That was from the first mouthful, not the usual 3oz before he starts all that. He was showing slight signs of dehydration, and he possibly has a staph infection also.

We now have an increased dose of Omeperazole (3mls twice a day), Ranitidine (0.4mls 3 times a day), Dompeidone (3mls 3 times a day). Plus they have given him Penecillin V incase of infection as his tonsils are slightly swollen and red personally I think that is the acid reflux and his bottom between the cheeks is slightly red. Plus lactulose as he didn't like the look of the hard stools he is passing which O lovingly demonstrated the minute the Registrar asked about his bowel movements!.

I'm exhausted. Fatima At least one of us has made an effort. I was going to have my hair cut. Sorry, you will have to see it in its shitty state! Also, ironed clothes? I'm not sure I even have clean clothes. I did ask DP to do a wash. Will see what I can pull out. Think I'll just have to get up early and organised in the morning instead!

Sorry if I look like a tramp Grin.

TheDetective · 12/03/2013 22:00

DP assumed I wasn't taking O tomorrow? Knobber! Why would I be leaving him. Of course he is coming with me. Hmm

kirrinIsland · 12/03/2013 22:07

Not managed to catch up today, but suspect I shall have plenty of time tonight!

detective glad you have been kicking ass, I assume you now have some help for O?

I have had a pretty busy day doing nothing much! I am now sat on the sofa with a sleeping N. I should gomto bed but I know she will wake as soon as I put her in the cot.

Contradictionincarnate · 12/03/2013 22:11

she started squeaking building up to full on crying is no lying on me sleeping after a 10 min feed ... not sure I want to try transfer again she normally doesn't go down til 10 nothing I do seems to change that!

kirrinIsland · 12/03/2013 22:11

Cross post detective Thats brilliant, but a shame you have to do that to get him what he needs.

BigPigLittlePig · 12/03/2013 22:24

It makes you wonder what would happen if you didn't have the insider info, as it were detective. Would Josephine Bloggs just have accepted things, and gone home with a less than satisfactory response? It makes me cross when I hear of colleagues providing such a poor service. At least the hospital were able to suggest some things. Fingers crossed they help O.

F didn't have a bath tonight or tummy time! and fell asleep at 7.45 and went to bed. This is unheard of. Am a little nervous about what lies in store for tonight....but am happy, as managed to have a seriously hot bath with a Lush bathbomb Smile

Glad you all enjoyed your meet up and you did awesomely detective!

E must have very mild reflux cos he just has anti reflux milk, that's all. I am very thankful, you lot dealing with the difficult stuff are stars!

ShellyBobbs · 12/03/2013 22:31

I look like a tramp and have never ironed my clothes, that is what a dryer is for Grin My fringe has suddenly developed a cow flick due to new hair growth (happening simultaneously as hair loss), and I have roots. So Fatima and Detective don't worry Grin

ShellyBobbs · 12/03/2013 22:32

And glad you got new meds for O Detective

Contradictionincarnate · 12/03/2013 22:32

I second you kirrin well done detective living up to your name a bit there ...imagine your one of those no nonsense detectives that gets the job done! gene hunt!!! Grin

imagine if you didn't know what you know you would just have been waiting 6 weeks ... how ill would o be then!
reminds me when I was 18 I almost died from a tonsilitis complication called quinsy went to several docs and had house calls they kept giving more and more anti biotics but as it goes it would never have worked ... luckily doc rushed me to hospital ... thought I was going to die!, was told 12 more hours and that would have been possible! Sad. scary thought!

Contradictionincarnate · 12/03/2013 22:35

was typing my post before I saw bplp post busy on here tonight!
dd still eating ... I miss dh Sad

LuisGarcia · 12/03/2013 22:40

BPLP

That is a result. Whatever happens the rest of the night doesn't change the fact that that is a result and progress. Go you!

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 12/03/2013 22:50

Right. Night two of operation big boy cot! Wish me luck!

TheDetective · 12/03/2013 22:52

I know. It maddens me to think that if I didn't have any medical knowledge at all, my poor baby could have been left in pain for god knows how long. It just isn't acceptable.

I'm going to ring the HV tomorrow and let them know. They have rang me twice today to make sure he was going to the GP as they were concerned.

Oh, also. I thought I'd add I had another little victory today. While sat in the GPs I noticed the flashing message board that the names come up on had a message. 'you do not need to see the GP if you are pregnant. You can book directly with the midwife'.

For those who don't remember or who werent on the quiche, when I booked this time last year, I had terrible trouble getting past the GPs who insisted I couldn't book with the midwives directly. Absolute bullshit. I got the supervisors of midwives involved who then made me a direct referral. I complained to the practice manager who claimed they just didn't know you could cough cough whatever. Anyway, it has taken a whole year, but they have now changed it! Result!

Oh, btw. Today, I am very thankful for being on this quiche. I could hear you all echoing in my ear when I was having to stand up for O and make myself heard. I knew I had the power of the quiche to catch my back Grin and if I can't be an advocate for my own child, then what can I do?

considers setting up own advocacy service Grin

kissyfur · 12/03/2013 23:21

Glad you had fun at the meet up Envy did you get any pics of all the babies together?

Detective glad you managed to see someone and get some more meds for O, hope he improves v soon

Bit of a rubbish night here, LO only just gone to sleep, I started trying to put her to bed at 7:45! Sad she's not fed that much today either, do babies space out feeds as they get older?

Contradictionincarnate · 12/03/2013 23:28

aw det that just made me cry that you had us all with you!
I love this quiche...its a v special place!!

Contradictionincarnate · 12/03/2013 23:35

oh and kissy you reminded me of what I was going to say when you mentioned spacing out feeds ... dd is fed on demand mainly cos I could never be arsed with any schedule but I could not tell you when she feeds Still no sign of a routine! - is this just me! she does go 8 hours most nights which I am v grateful for then from about 1 seems to want to eat every 2 hours til 7 when it gets almost constant! til she sleeps normally about now!
wondering whether I should continue to go with the flow or get her into a stricter routine ...
she is going to have to be in her cot soon really doesn't fit Moses basket anymore!
anyone else got angel sensor monitor? I have never used it ...not worked it outShock but will need to when she is in her own room... Sad can I use sensor pad with cot bed!?

Contradictionincarnate · 12/03/2013 23:41

ps just bumped a thread bout housework ...how do I become organised ... had some good ideas still not read them all but thought we could add to it... or would benefit from some of them ... really don't know how I will get any done. I naively saw me being some kind of Anthea Turner tidy house goddess with a spotless organised house by now ... organised finances meal planner etc too... think the rest of my life will just be this chaos!

rootypig · 13/03/2013 00:01

Pennie you are in Hackney! I am in Victoria Park Grin

daisychain76 · 13/03/2013 00:02

Go detective!

Contra my approach at the moment is to embrace the chaos!

H is bf on demand and no routine to it, but l think a routine naturally starts to form when they?re on solids and have built up to 3 meals a day.

Have a true velcro baby tonight. Won?t stay in his cot more than 15 mins and has a 6th sense about when l?m leaving the room. Even Ewan has failed me Sad
