Instead of marking place, please could those of us with older siblings post something (positive) they are looking forward to as our babies get older. I think it would cheer us up since so many are struggling at the moment.

contra N has no pattern at all. She's demand fed ebf, and I don't keep track of when she feeds, but I don't think she ever goes more than 2 hours, unless she is asleep. She has mostly stopped cluster feeding though.

FatimaLovesBread · 13/03/2013 00:46

Glad you got the meds sorted det

I am wide awake listening to the foghorn snoring/breathing of DH. I may be on the run when we meet tomorrow as I will have killed DH with his own pillow
Bloody knoboid

Fed M at 8ish tonight then she had a huge vom fest all down DHs leg (ha ha), brought he upstairs at 9 when she got cranky so I could do the usual feed to sleep routine. Popped her in her basket while I got my pjs on and she fell asleep with no boob. Poked her but there was no waking her so she went to sleep with no supper. She woke up about 20mins ago for it!!

FatimaLovesBread · 13/03/2013 00:49

Oh and those that are worried about girls being mistaken for boys.
I've uploaded 2 photos to my Facebook album today entitled "M.... J..." Obvious girls name, she's wearing multi coloured stripes and her Uncles Rossi biking wooly hat. Some has commented, under lots of beautiful girl etc etc comments saying "he's adorable"!!
Ha ha ha Grin

Dear diary,

It's 1:30 am. I'm being simultaneously shouted at and kind of nibbled / licked. I have the hob hood going full blast. My feet are freezing. I don't even know where I'm going with this.

Hello, everyone who is awake

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 01:46

contra I have an angel monitor. It works fine with a cot bed mattress. I love mine. It is worth persevering with setting it up. I agree it is complicated. Remember that you have to turn it off before you take baby out otherwise you can scare everyone in the house. It soon becomes part of your routine. Also when they roll it can alarm too.

Those who are nervous of meeting others in the quiche in real life, just remember we are friends already, and share the most wonderful common denominator. There will be some members we 'know' better than others, but even if your recollections are a bit hazy, it does not take long to remember things and it is lovely to put a face to the names. It was amazing meeting the lovely babies too. They are so different, and all have special little personalities. It would be lovely if we could all meet centrally one day.

J slept 4 hours. One thing I noticed today is that he is clearly a hungry baby. Sat next to izzy and the almost edible scrumptious chilled out baby J, my J was feeding like he was at an all you can eat buffet, and taking the piss!

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 02:06

Hello luis and kitten I am assuming. How long have you been up? I have a golden rule of never leaving the bedroom at night. Sometimes I go in my room to kick my DH into action, but never into the kitchen, so I am guessing you are having a hard time of it? Some of us use the extractor fan in the bathroom, and others a white noise app or the beloved Saint Ewan. Cold feet is no good. Hope you are both tucked up warm in your resoective beds and sleeping soundly.

detective well done. Fucking well done!

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 02:26

I know you probably cannot see this, but I hope you are having a better night izzy and also mm

Fucking wind! J feeds in 20 minutes then needs an hour to shift wind! Doing everything apart from swinging him around my head to shift it. I am sorely tempted to try a bottle at night. Again I am thinking silent reflux? Poor little bugger is in proper pain with it. Got a few burps and farts but these seem to cause more distress.

LuisGarcia · 13/03/2013 02:31

not a kitten. An L. J is having a bad night too. Have been up since 7am.

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 03:13

luis fuckballs! Hope you sleep soon. At the moment I have a mental image of your missus upstairs snoring, scratching her tits intermittently, and spending her days playing on the Xbox. And saying she is tired! I must admit I am somewhat envious.

J has finally collapsed. Little darling does not want to be awake. I do hope he gets some more sleep. I just do not understand why the wind is still happening, and I cannot help but blame myself as it is my boobies and my milk. He is 20 weeks tomorrow. Surely wind should not be an issue now?

LuisGarcia · 13/03/2013 03:15

The answer is "no, tough it out you wimp". Someone please agree with me and don't ask what the question was.

LuisGarcia · 13/03/2013 03:27

your image of mrs g is wrong, sorry. She doesn't snore, she doesn't scratch and she doesn't have an xbox.

She has been pregnant for most of the last 3 years, has given me L and J, has bought the house and lets me nap during the day, and is just goddamn awesome.

The least I can do in return is stay awake for a while.

(Ok reading that back, I need to go to bed somehow, don't I?)

LuisGarcia · 13/03/2013 03:50

Is anyone around?

Evilwater · 13/03/2013 03:51

Morning all!!
Detective- that what us, nurses are for! To tell the drs (sorry bigpig) what they are surposed to be doing.

N has had his night feed and change, so I'm waiting to see if he goes to sleep. I've had a very good day yesterday, with my mum. I took her out and got her a plant from the RHS place. We both agreed that MIL is a fucking mess. So I need to have that talk with her, the one where N is my son, not hers. She really needs to move on.

Tonight is the first night where N has self settled by himself, and with no dummy!!! Day time is another matter as MIL has fucked it up.

Off to be weighed tomorrow, constipation do I give water, or water and sugar???
Evil

Evilwater · 13/03/2013 03:53

Oh forgot, night fuckers Grin I like Wednesdays.

Bryzoan · 13/03/2013 04:47

I'm here too - with another crap night... Just haven't had the energy or mental acuity to post. Good job g is gorgeous.

Hello wedneday. Not sure i have it in me to swear properly yet this morning.

Glad things are moving on Eliza, well done det - what a nightmare you've been having, and big hugs apple and mm.

I do think a baby can make you question even really good relationships. The pressure of mothers day doen't help either - feels so important to most of us after what we've been through and not all the chaps get it. Mine gamely got me a card and chocs and breakfast in bed but he was confused as to why he had to as I'm not his mum! There have definitely been times with both our kids where I have questioned our marriage. But actually I know there is a shed load of love there and it is strong. Basically I think babies and sleep deprivation mess with your head. So don't be hasty mm or apples!

Luis - loved vq's mental image of your mrs - even if it isn't true. I could aspire to that...

kirrinIsland · 13/03/2013 04:55

Luis hope you've managed to get to bed - I'd send you some sleepy dust but I don't appear to have any either!

I have now reached the point where I have to sit up, unsupported by pillows, and without my dressing gown on so I am cold whilst doing night feeds - as I am literally dropping off while feeding her and it makes me very nervous.

VQ Often when N wakes, I think it is wind that's disturbed her. She burps really easily now, it's farting that seems to be the problem but I don't know what to do about that. All of the windy stuff - infacol etc - seems to be for bringing wind up not down. I asked Dr Google and it seemed to suggest that there were no proven links between mother's diet and windy babies, it's just the immature digestive system that causes it and They'll grow out of it. N is 4 months today so hopefully soon!

Glad you guys had a good meet up, must have been lovely to put faces to names :)

rootypig · 13/03/2013 04:58

oh Luis! are you still there? I hope not. awake for almost 24 hours. I can't do that without Biscuit LOTS of sugar. I really hope you got some sleep.

I have just done our standard 4am feed and am up and wandering about for no real reason (time to myself?). Last night was a big one for S, thanks to DHs inability to use the calendar we were both out and she was without both of us for the first time. my oldest friend babysat - including bedtime! S guzzled 9oz of expressed milk and passed out in a milk coma as planned. I had a lovely night in saunas and steamrooms with my friends as planned, and feel human again. Thank you oldest friend, thank you S!

Detective fucking shit that you had to go through that, again what does the medical profession think it's for, really? well done you for fighting for him and I really hope O's new meds have an effect soon

Fatima when DH snores every fucking night he gets a kick to roll over onto his side. he wants to sleep on his back! not a chance. and who can even do that? not me! no wonder our babies wake up all the time

rootypig · 13/03/2013 05:00

ps Evil I think a couple of ounces of boiled cooled water first, if that doesn't work add a little bit of juice - this was advice from my midwife aunt, I never got as far as the juice though. I do clockwise tummy massage and foot rubs (!) too

kirrinIsland · 13/03/2013 05:01

Cross post bryzoan (it takes me so long to string a coherent thought together that cross posting seems almost inevitable) Hope you get some sleep.

And congrats on the self settling evil - long may it continue. That conversation with your mil will be tough but necessary I think, if she's sabotaging what you are trying to do with N. Good luck.

kirrinIsland · 13/03/2013 05:05

And again! Your night out sounds lovely rooty :) Glad that S cooperated!

Bryzoan · 13/03/2013 05:07

Forgot to say. It is healthy hip week. Now, I know I go on about hips a bit, but g's have been treated so easily as they were caught early, whereas r has had to go through hell and is still not fixed a year on as hers were not picked up till 16 months. My friend Jane whose daughter was also caught late has blogged about it here.

www.northernmum.com/2013/03/ddh-a-letter-expectant-parents-newborns/

The physical clicky hip checks are not good enough - both my kids passed with flying colours and both have hip dysplasia. It really is worth knowing what to look out for - I wish I had. If you ever notice deep uneven creases on the buttocks/ thighs (ie legs are different), different leg lengths, wonky crawling / walking or legs that don't go out much or feel different to eachother when you change a nappy, please demand a scan or x-ray.

Rant over. Time to try nd put my charmer of a baby back in his box and get some more kip. If he wakes on 30 mins again I am sure I' will find it in me to swear.

Ps - thanks whoever encouraged me to visit the sn forum about dd last week - you were right, it's been brilliant. I am now feeling braver.

Bryzoan · 13/03/2013 05:11

Kirrin know what you mean! Cross posts all over the shop here too. Don't envy your dressed down feeding style. Do envy rooty's night in the steam rooms. Night all!

Lily311 · 13/03/2013 05:40

Insomnia fuck off.

Thanks for the link Bryzoan. The uneven creases was the reason I took O for a check up at the beginning of Feb. she was diagnosed with torticollis and we are having physio once a week. Privately as nhs app still hasn't come through. This explains her weak upper body and hating to be on tummy. I would love to say she is better but she is not, she still has twisted neck.

luis I trullyhope you are asleep by now.

rootypig · 13/03/2013 05:40

thanks for posting the info Bryz, I have severe osteoarthritis in one hip, reason unknown, my granny (was a midwife) thinks it must have been undiagnosed clicky hip and it's the most likely explanation. I wouldn't wish it on anyone! please do take your LOs in if you have any concerns. my LO had a scan because of the maternal history and it was not remotely traumatic (apart from maybe for the nurse whom she weed on Grin)

rootypig · 13/03/2013 05:44

x post Lily sorry (good morning!). sorry to hear about your LO. really hope the physio takes some effect soon. did I imagine you're in London? I can recommend a paediatric osteopath if so and it's something you've considered trying.

and yes Evil might be worth trying to nip this MIL nonsense in the bud or you'll be in for a lifetime of it (though not sure it's possible). mine is similar thank fuck she's in America and drives me mental. my sympathies.

right, have finished pumping and eating biscuits off to bed!
