Thanks pass e is offered 8oz at each feed and usually leaves some even if just 1/2 oz. sometimes he takes some then starts to play, but of offered again in 10-15 mins he takes more. Sometimes (like today) he very clearly does not want it at all whatsoever. Wouldn't have it in his mouth. I dont think I could force feed him if I tried! So all he had was 5oz, he is playing happily on the floor so obviously doesn't need more. If he were playing up then he would whinge when I put him on the floor as he would think he wasn't actually going to get the rest. I only feed him when he is hungry, sometimes (rarely) he goes over 4hrs but I haven't minded as he sleeps so well at night it is fine if he goes 4hrly in the day.

Part of me would love to give him a taste of purée but I also do not want to upset his insides. I don't know enough to know what I'm doing. My DM would give me lots of advice but as she says we were on 3 meals a day by his age so she thinks I should at least be offering him tastes by now

Sorry you're having a bad day bplp :( When is she due jabs (sorry if you said already)

Pikz · 06/03/2013 13:22

Kyrz ignore ignore. I get grief constantly. LO born on 9th is now 90th. He wears 6-12m at 14 weeks and eats 37-45oz a day and that is without a dream feed. He doesn't sleep longer than 5.5 hrs in one go. I am so sick of being asked probing questions by HV. His dad is 6ft7 so is grandad and his uncle and my bro.he is going to be a big lad get over it people. I have accepted it and will wait for them to!

PetiteRaleuse · 06/03/2013 13:22

Agree with the others. My paed says she doesn't mind about weight gain until they are three or four. Weight loss or too slow gain is a different matter.

I had loads of people telling me DD1 was too fat, even her bitch of a CM (not the reason I sacked her). Weight only really becomes an issue when they are past toddlerhood and the chubby stage. There is no such thing as an obese baby. If they eat too much they throw it up. They NEED lots of milk because they are growing so fast - at the fastest pace they will ever grow in their lives.

People are being given such stupid advice, and I'm not going to say it's just in Britain as here they are equally stupid about weight.

PetiteRaleuse · 06/03/2013 13:24

And purees etc - at the beginning they eat so little of it, and there are very few calories in steamed veg anyway, that they still need to drink lots of milk - as much as before the first few weeks and until six months if you wean a little earlier.

BigPigLittlePig · 06/03/2013 13:28

I was a whopper as a baby, but only ever had 5oz at a time apparently, even when quite old. I'm not fat now, nor was I once I started to move! Babies all need different amounts of food, as long as they're growing ok I wouldn't worry about what they're taking. Like yw said, those of us who have ebf babies haven't got a clue what they're taking.

kyz jabs are this afternoon.

kissyfur · 06/03/2013 13:28

Thanks pass I have tried to get her to take a dummy but she won't have it. And she's never had a bottle. I tried keeping her upright but had to get DD1 dressed etc Sad

I think this has been caused by me eating red onion in a salad last night, just fed her again and I'm terrified it's going to happen again. I feel awful

TheDetective · 06/03/2013 13:40

It's a motherfucking fabulous wednesday here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh. My. God. My baby, he is himself! It's amazing! I love you Omeperazole! I FUCKING LOVE YOU!!!!

I've washed my hair and put my slap on. O happily played in his cot, then on my bed while I did this. We went to baby group. He has been on his playmat for 40 minutes now. Fuckadoodledo!

The only thing missing is smiles. He's not as smiley today. But i'll get those later I'm sure! Either way, velcro has gone, and settled baby has resumed!

PetiteRaleuse · 06/03/2013 13:54

Yay Detective that's fab news :)

PetiteRaleuse · 06/03/2013 14:02

LO has worked out how to take her dummy out. She does it often. Then she holds it in her hands and stares at it and wonders what to do with it now. Then she cries because she wants her dummy. Then she cries because I take her dummy from her hand, but settles when I put it back in her mouth. Until she takes it out again, and stares at it in her hand and wonders what the fuck to do with it now. Then she cries because she wants her fucking dummy. So I prise the fucking dummy out of her bloody hand, and pop it back in her mouth. And the whole fucking cycle starts again.

Hours of hilarious fun.

You'd think right, just give her a second dummy to stare at, but no, because then she takes the other dummy out with her other hand and stares at both of them. Then cries for a fucking dummy.

My daughter is addicted to fucking dummies.

ValiumQueen · 06/03/2013 14:17

PR Grin sorry, but that is hilarious! Give her three dummies?

YW thank you Smile

detective wow! Wow! WOW! So pleased for you!

ValiumQueen · 06/03/2013 14:18

kissy fucking onions! Hope LO is soon happier.

Lilliana · 06/03/2013 14:20

Sorry PR but your post did make me laugh. Must be a frustrating cycle though

Yay Detective excellent news

I have no clue how much L eats, she was slow to grow and HV kept on measuring her as she dropped percentiles but I knew she was ok, happy, settled etc then suddenly she had a massive growth spurt around 10/11 weeks and is now apparently fine. They are babies not machines and do not grow at a steady rate to fit your bloody graphs! I feel the same way about children's progress at school but that is another matter

Today I am attempting to clean windows but day 2 of velcro baby is not helping.

ValiumQueen · 06/03/2013 14:22

I am going to have to wake DS again to do the fucking school run.

My hair is falling out in handfuls and being replaced by grey Sad

I weighed myself today, thinking I have put on a stone or so since my pathetic attempt at dieting in the new year. I have put on a total of fuck all! Still a fat fucker, but thankfully not an even-fatter-fucker.

Lilliana · 06/03/2013 14:27

L's passport arrived today - the world is our oyster!

We now need a travel cot does anyone have any recommendations?

Also I have reached my pre preg weight :) mainly through hair loss!!! Now to lose another 2 stone.

TheDetective · 06/03/2013 14:36

Have now read the thread. Chatty sods!

I've forgotten everything I wanted to say. Hmm

Except, welcome Lily. You will fit in nicely around these places. It's the best postnatal gaff going Wink. I'm so sorry your OH passed away. How awful, you must be going through so much. Stick around and share the joys and the crap! of motherhood with us!

TheDetective · 06/03/2013 14:41

Don't talk to me about hair loss Lilliana! ROFL about the weight loss Grin

Yes, WOWFUCKINGWOW VQ I can't believe the difference! It's so fucking good. I've cried, but only tears of happiness today! Time to enjoy my lovely baby again!!

Kyzordz · 06/03/2013 14:47

Yay!!!! So pleased det :)

Hope jabs go ok bplp

I thought that pr, they won't be eating much anyway at first so still need to drink plenty. My original plan was to offer a spoon or two at a random point during the day of the same puréed something for 3-4 days running, not building up in amount for a few weeks, just offering different tastes. Was planning on offering it one day and if he seems ready carry on but if not leave it another week.

Can't remember what else I was gonba say. kirrin hope LO is ok

BigPigLittlePig · 06/03/2013 14:53

The nurse took one look at Fs red puffy eyes and streaming nose, ignored the gummy grin, and re-booked jabs for next week. So we're on the sofa with chocolate and greys anatomy (me) and mummy cuddles and milk (F).

Glad to see service as normal in camp detective

PetiteRaleuse · 06/03/2013 15:12

Bastard Grey's Anatomy are on a break, next episode not until next week. Like my baker, who the fuck do these people think they are having holidays? Eh?

And I missed last week's two episodes of Dexter and on catch up it's only in French and it just doesn't sound right. Bastard flu making me too tired to stay up last week.

Going to Germany this weekend to stock up on nappies and wipes and will buy a bucketful of dummies and just tip them into LO's sleeping areas so she can't do the dummy game. It's really fucking boring. I will dazzle her with dummies.

She'll have so many dummies she won't know what to do with them. I will outsmart that wily baby oh yes :o

Jabs tomorrow morning woo hooo. I think these are the last ones before the MMRV which is at 12 months? 9months? Not immediately anyway. LO is a dream at the Dr's she is so ticklish. Doesn't enjoy the jabs but gets distracted soon afterwards by tickles.

That's good that they didn't do them today Pig

ShellyBobbs · 06/03/2013 15:13

Welcome lilly. What a horrendous start you've had, I'm so very sorry. Your little girl is one very special lady.

PetiteRaleuse · 06/03/2013 15:14

I got my first grey hairs after my first pregnancy, plucked them out and they haven't come back yet. Haven't lost too much post this pregnancy though. Not much to lose though my hair is stupidly fine.

ShellyBobbs · 06/03/2013 15:21

According to this fucking shite app, nobody posted for over 12 hours. Like that would happen woth us lot Grin

I'm sorry to say it but I'm finding it a bit shit that Tommy settles so well in his cot. YOU ARE MY LAST CHILD, I WANT TO CUDDLE YOU THROUGH THE NIGHT MY BED ognoring the fact he stays in after his 4am feed.

Bryzoan · 06/03/2013 15:44

Kissy - that sounds awful. Do you have a bumbo / seat you can get uprightish? Big hugs.

Brilliant news detective :-)

Pr - what happens if you give her 3 fucking dummies? Grin

Better day today here despite g's jabs. Had a really nice time at toddler grp with them both this morning - and having a bit of time out with g this afternoon as dd has gone to granny's. Sorry for the self indulgent rant earlier.

Eliza - great attitude on the feeding, hopefully should stand you and e in good stead.

Phew - nearly ready for thankful Thursday!

Bryzoan · 06/03/2013 15:50

Lots of hair loss here too. Why don't the grey ones fall out?

Forgot to say - welcome lily, hope are able to get support both in rl and from our quiche when you need it.

sweetpea1112 · 06/03/2013 15:54

Lily welcome Smile. I am so sorry to hear about your OH, you sound so strong and your DD an absolute blessing Thanks

PR Your daughter has a wicked sense of humour. Hilarious.

Detective Wahoo!! Yay for Oscar and the medicine I can't spell! Grin

So I went to the baby group. Wish I hadn't. All the babies were happy, chatty and calm. Oscar was miserable and overwhelmed. He spent the group curled up on my lap or asleep on my shoulder. He only perked up when I got him naked for the HV weigh in Hmm Why is my poor boy so unconfident and shy? Sad

Now we are home and he has had a big poo, he is on top form, laughing and finding a bottle of water the most fascinating thing ever. Might try letting him splash his hands about in some water as playtime tomorrow.

O is tracking the 25th centile and only takes 4-5 oz per feed. HV not concerned but said that's probably why he doesn't sleep that well at night. She also said not to be concerned about that until 6 months.
