PR it's a topic of debate. I chose not to although guidelines now say it's safe. Hormones can sometimes affect how your hair takes the dye and I was worried I'd accidentally go ginger again (like the one and only time I dyed my hair myself...) Blush

YellowWellies · 05/02/2013 18:45

Horsey totally agree. v wise approach.

PR I guess hair dyes aren't tested on developing embryos - so the long term consequences aren't known my MW told me to avoid - as with other chemicals such as fake tan which could potentially enter the bloodstream. Am sure its overcautious advice - am so sick of my greys now I'd like to be told its OK whilst BF!!!

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2013 18:48

I didn't even think of it Blush

They weigh babies a lot over there. I wonder why. Surely it's obvious, at least to a HCP, if a baby is thriving or not?

FatimaLovesBread · 05/02/2013 19:01

It depends what kind of colour you have. If you have highlights then it doesn't contact the scalp as much as say a full head bleach.

DH has gone to the doctors so going to attempt a bath with M, normally he lifts her in and out

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2013 19:18

I had highlights. I did all kinds of things during pregnancy that are debateable. Even my meds that I'm on for lifehaven't been tested so the Drs just shrugged andsaid to hope for the best.

BigPigLittlePig · 05/02/2013 19:21

Fatima I have become a football widow so am going to attempt the same. Also forgot to express this morning for gaviscon, so need to try to express 1oz in the bath Confused

GTbaby · 05/02/2013 19:37

Mm I had my hair coloured soon after having LO. And had hair cut yesterday. Hairdresser was not impressed at all with the state of my hair and suggested that I avoid colour until my hair is alot healthier.

ChunkyChicken · 05/02/2013 19:51

I had my hair cut to chin length with DD mm and decided not to this time because my hair is a type that needs styling iyswim, so I prefer it longer so I can bung it up somehow.

TheDetective · 05/02/2013 19:52

Not caught up yet...

Am sat in my car seething as DP is jump starting his since he left the pissing lights on it all day. Jump leads were in the shed. Hmm

I'm more seething over the fact that I've had to literally dump a screaming baby on MIL as he was due feeding just as dickhead rang. Tea was on... It's not now. Hmm

I've never left Oscar with anyone but DP :( furious as I had no choice as I couldn't leave Oscar crying and couldn't afford for DP to get towed home.

gardenpixie32 · 05/02/2013 19:58

Aw, congratulations GT, lovely news Thanks

I would love another one. In fact, I would love more twins! DP and I were talking about it today. I want to try again when the girls are 4, he agreed. However, he is a shit so may have to find another candidate!

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2013 20:27

Ooooh a very distant relative is in the news today for being a serial burglar. Does that bump up my well 'ard credentials? We don't know him but the family name is so rare we are all related somehow, and my mum says he's a spit of her cousin. Grin

LO's temp with no paracetamol has gone down enough for her to be dressed in more than a vest. Phew.

Right, someone said I'm due a lottery win. I happen to agree so bought a ticket for tonight's draw. I'll be sure to help out GT with the quadruplets she's incubating if I win the jackpot. Grin

thinking about weigh ins. If LO hadn't been in to the Dr for her illnesses she would only have been weighed twice since we left hospital at four days. She's now coming up to 16 weeks and unless she is ill in the next four weeks she'll be weighed again. You guys have far too many weigh ins.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2013 20:29

And GT. Even with older kids it is SO much easier second time round. Pregnancy is less stressful, and you know what to do when you're handed a brand new baby. You'll be the old hand on the Oct'13 postnatal thread. And then when you join the Oct'15 antenatal thread you'll be doing it in your sleep.
Grin

gardenpixie32 · 05/02/2013 20:30

My DD's have been weighed 4 times in 18 weeks. As long as they look healthy to me, I am happy.

Evilwater · 05/02/2013 20:32

Congrats GT!

Another set of jabs today, and what a grumpy baby! Confused Sad
He has felt very warm at times even with the calpol. i know it's not recommended that I give the calpol in anticipatation of a fever, but last time he was very rough and I don't that again.Blush He hasn't been drinking alot today too. I'm a little worried, but I'm hoping he will pick up during the night.

glendathegoodwitch · 05/02/2013 20:33

Evening!!!

Sorry not caught up on the days events am here in a bit of a panic!!! Just changed Dottie's bum and there was bloody mucus????? The rest of it was back to normal seedy mustard texture if a bit green after having over a week of v watery dark brown poos

Looking on google it seems indicative of an intolerance?? But surely that would have presented sooner?? Should I call nhs direct?? Any advice much appreciated x

Elizadoesdolittle · 05/02/2013 20:33

Gosh GT you're one brave lady! E just seems like a newborn still to me (guess she is really as she's titchy) I just cannot for the life of me imagine being pregnant yet. Actually getting round to dtd would be an achievement in itself! Sorry I digress...congratulations. At least you have your in laws to help you out. I'm glad you and your DH are happy.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2013 20:49

Glenda where was the mucus from? LO had some vag gunk come out today and I phoned my mum in a panic. And she sighed, and reminded me we had the same conversation about DD1. It's not a reason to panic. She says vag discharge is like snot, something the body produces to get crap out. If it was from the bum end, could be just swallowed snot. Panic not, and get D seen if there's any more.

ChunkyChicken · 05/02/2013 20:50

glenda what colour blood? Does she seem well? It might be worth phoning NHS direct to put your mind at rest.

I haven't had DS weighed as much as I had DD weighed. Maybe 6 times inc at birth but most of those were required for his tongue tie.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2013 20:51

Bright red blood? If so it's from a wound near the exit, no big deal but needs to be seen but not tonight. Dark brown blood would be from further up and more urgent. But no reason to panic. Just try and work out where it's from.

ValiumQueen · 05/02/2013 20:52

glenda if a phone call will put your mind at rest, then do so. How is LO in herself? How much was there? Please do not worry, but follow your instinct.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2013 20:54

And don't google. I googled today and decided LO had a rectal fistula. One in a billion in an otherwise healthy baby. Dr Google is a bad bad doctor. My paed is very anti google.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2013 20:56

And (I'm unfortunately quite knowledgeable about intestinal bleeds) if it was urgent, you'd know it. She would have another symptom.

ValiumQueen · 05/02/2013 20:58

I have not had DS weighed since 6 weeks. He is about 16lb I reckon.

I had my hair cut when pg with both girls. I thought it would be easier. It was not. I do not plan to have it cut short again. Unless I shave it. Would love to shave it again.

StuntNun · 05/02/2013 21:00

This playmat is hyuge Pikz so it'll be great when baby's starting to roll and move around a bit.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2013 21:03

I keep my hair long. No, it doesn't suit me, but at least I can tie it up. Short was far too much hassle and I smelt like my granny with so much hairspray.
