Congrats GT! Hope all goes well for you and you don't have it as bad as last time x

ChunkyChicken · 05/02/2013 17:43

Wow!!! Congrats GT. 2 of my friends have small gaps - 13mths between brothers & 18mths between sisters. They both make it look easy but rather them than me... I went to school with 2 sisters in the same school year: Sept birthday & Aug birthday. I understand its hard in the first couple of years but once they get more independent, they entertain each other.

Passmethecrisps · 05/02/2013 17:45

I just had a wee look at the October 2012 ante natal thread. Didn't take long for my bottom lip to start wibbling

P is having a snooze but just properly cried. I was in the kitchen and heard her wailing so came through. She was asleep but her wee face was moving around. Was she dreaming? Obviously wasn't a very good dream Sad

Also, when do babies know that it is their reflection in mirrors? I often show P herself but more often than not she seems a bit scared. Twice, I think, she has smiled and chatted but mostly she looks, tries to bury her head in my neck, look again and boohoos

Oh, good luck on house offer YW!

MissMummy1 · 05/02/2013 17:46

Congrats GT Thanks Had a feeling you'd be the first Wink . GP asked me during 6 week check how I'd feel about another so soon - the idea terrifies me! Ask me again in 4 years time, but our next one is definitely a puppy.

First jabs today. Done by a complete nazi (of course anyone who makes my baby cry is evil Sad , but she was especially mean didnt you think yw ? No? Just me then....). She keeps looking at us and bursting into tears. Lots of sympathy cuddles in our house.

She's also dropped a fair bit on weight centiles to just below 75th. Confused I've managed to fight my corner of no formula with a review in 2 weeks.

Need gin. Just set my grans ipad up for her and tried to show her how to use it... Confused Confused Confused

horseylady · 05/02/2013 17:52

Mm what was she? Ds dropped from 60th to 25th. No one said anything other than 'he's finding his line'. Oh and he's too active :)

Look at the baby not the number.

Passmethecrisps · 05/02/2013 17:53

Right! I have had it with sodding charts and centiles! Does is make sense that someone will perfectly follow a line on a graph?

Does baby look healthy, alert, hitting developmental milestones?
Is baby poo nice and healthy looking?

Surely the above makes more sense as a way of monitoring growth?

P was born on the 50th - DH and I are dinky people. She is now following the 25
My sister's baby was born on the 50th - she and her DP are big people. He is now following the 75th.

M is still really young and may just be finding her own natural level. She was a big girl when born so does it not make sense that her growth might slow at times?

Am I talking nonsense?

Passmethecrisps · 05/02/2013 17:54

Ack! horsey managed to say what I meant in far fewer words

ChunkyChicken · 05/02/2013 17:56

I think your news GT has made me certain I don't want another - in the nicest possible way!!! I'm actually feeling sick with the thought of another one now and really, given my age & logistics of it all, I would need to do it now, esp as I wouldn't want a bigger gap than the 2.6yrs between DD & DS. Ergo, no baby now, def no baby later, no 3rd baby. DH is happy our family is complete so wants the snip. Until he does that, I'm not sure I want to rely on the withdrawal method we were using before both dc. I mean, its worked for us in the past, but it was never a negative thing if I'd got pg then iyswim.

Can't remember pass about the recognising themselves. I think its 6mths maybe?

MM unfortunate about her weight gain slowing (or was it a loss itself?). Are you going to feed more frequently etc? Any ideas what might have caused it?

Anyone else get more poos after the jabs? 2 epic poonamis in one day!!! Shock

YellowWellies · 05/02/2013 18:02

She was a Nazi compared to the lady who did J's first set MM totally agree. Her dropping a tray of instruments before giving them - which scared the wee man and didn't inspire me with confidence didn't help.

Which doc is trying to push a 75th centile baby toward formula top ups? Ridiculous - no one's pushed us and J is 25th centile. Clearly someone who still thinks its the 50s. As Horsey says I bet she is just finding her line.

Our post jag boy has been snoozing all afternoon - tonight's going to be white isn't it? Sad

YellowWellies · 05/02/2013 18:02

white = shite. Fecking tablet....

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2013 18:04

Yep, more poos here in the days following the jabs.

Passmethecrisps · 05/02/2013 18:06

More poo? Is that a side effect? Excellent. Like a bit of poo

ChunkyChicken · 05/02/2013 18:10

YW I thought I would have an awful night as DS slept all day yesterday but he only woke once for a feed.

Thanks PR. He's on his 4th outfit today & I got hit in the last poo-splosion!!!

MissMummy1 · 05/02/2013 18:13

She has gained, just not a huge amount. I tried to point out that she has also gone from hourly night feeds to 6/7 hour gaos at night so of course she won't be gaining as fast! At risk of creating a rod for my own back I might introduce a night feed again.

Pass that was my theory too.

We have to go back in 2 weeks anyway to see if they are going to operate on her hernia.

blonderthanred · 05/02/2013 18:14

Zomg GT !!!

You will have your work cut out but will also have siblings with a great bond. I've just been at a friend's house who has twins and it is hard work but very rewarding. I also know someone with 2 under 1 and - well - the same, but more so. Congratulations!

I said we should name the thread 'on to the next one'!

VQ I am very sorry to hear you are so poorly. It is rotten and you don't deserve it. I hope you feel better soon.

Det I have friends who have used the sock ons and loved them for a few weeks but then they were either too tight or the children learned to remove them too.

I really want some of those Converse socks!

Pikz · 05/02/2013 18:14

Mm it's all such nonsense. I agree with pass. I had a baby who was 9th percentile, at 10.5 weeks he's 98th. He's completely breast milk fed, I can't feed him any less or he screams. He has a 6ft7 dad, my mum and bro are both tall (I'm a midget and the milkmans) to me he's just finding his line.

MissMummy1 · 05/02/2013 18:20

Dammit knew I was going to ask something!

Just bought a groupon to get my hair cut. Not had it done for about a year Shock (plus point, saved me about £450 so not all bad but well overdue!!). Can I take M with me? Or should I leave her with my mum/dh? All those nasty chemicals make me a bit wary of taking her with me. I didn't colour my hair the whole time I was pregnant and it's vaguely resembling my natural colour now so just getting a cut. Should I be big and brave and get my very long hair cut short? (M has just discovered she can grab a fistful during feeds...)

PurplePidjin · 05/02/2013 18:20

Congrats GT Thanks

We want a good couple of years between. This is our first, and I'm early 30s (dp is late 40s) so no huge rush.

Anyone know about constipation in bf babies? Ds goes every 1-2 days but is absolutely vile and grumpy for a few hours before, on and off the boob and uninterested in cuddles or toys. I think he must struggle to poo. He's just been, and is a different baby - smily, content, feeding well. Is there anything i can do to help him?

Thechick · 05/02/2013 18:27

My goodness GT, congrats. How far along do you think you are??

H has his first cold. Booo!!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 05/02/2013 18:35

MM I had my hair cut when DS was 5wo. I asked if I could bring him along and mentioned I may need to feed him (he was ebf then). They were completely fine about it. In the end he slept through the whole experience, but was much admired and I am sure that it would have been fine if I had needed to pause in the proceedings. I wasnt aware of any noxious chemicals while I was having my hair done, although I didnt have my own coloured.

I actually had my very long hair cut to shoulder length, on the basis I might do something other than chuck it in a ponytail every day. I dont. Grin

YellowWellies · 05/02/2013 18:36

Why wasn't my little tyke this snoozy at 4 this morning! Envy

MM I need to go to the hairdresser too - have been cutting and dyeing it myself since my wedding. In 2011. Am such a slattern. Is it OK to dye your hair if BF?

horseylady · 05/02/2013 18:38

Mm if she's hungry, shell eat!!! Babies are clever. Both dp and I are people who can eat and not really put weight on. Ds gains but at his rate. I can't physically feed him more than he wants. There is no need to feed overnight. Take the sleep. And if they insist on more regular weigh ins don't go!! I plan to go every 4-6 weeks max. Unless I think there's an issue.

He's happy, healthy, eating and soiling. And growing!!! And laughing :)

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2013 18:38

I had my hair coloured during pregnancy, are you not supposedto?
