Daisy17 · 13/04/2013 10:55

Thanks, Kitty. Think he's growing and very tired, also we've done lots of relative visiting over the hols which he loves and goes into a decline when everyone disappears - when he gets back from the shops with DP his grandparents will be here which should make him totally manic cheer him up no end. And ladybird cake later! Grin

Daisy17 · 13/04/2013 10:56

Hope you've had a better week.

GlaikitFizzog · 13/04/2013 10:57

Saw the ladybird on FB :o once he gets sugar on him and if his grandparents wind him up like Bs do, y will have a happy smiley giggly little boy very soon!

Kittycatcat · 13/04/2013 11:34

Love the ladybird cake

Kittycatcat · 14/04/2013 08:33

Free to a good home. Toddler. Almost two. Answers to the name of S.

GlaikitFizzog · 14/04/2013 11:12

Can only offer an exchange, answers to B, currently trying to eat my sausage sandwich.

Daisy17 · 14/04/2013 20:41

Sorry, no exchange deals here after all, S woke up from his nap on his birthday in a completely different mood and had a fabulous time at his party. Smile He even recognised that his cake was a ladybird - YAY! My baby is 2. Wow....

GreenFirefly · 14/04/2013 21:12

No swaps here either. M is lovely at the moment learning new words every day and making me smile lots.
I've got a taste for popcorn at the moment and she seems to enjoy feeding it to me. I think this may come in very useful when I'm feeding new baby Grin.
We've had a weekend of parties - Friday and Saturday 2 year old parties and a christening today. Next weekend should be quieter - just the one party!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/04/2013 22:56

kitty I would swap for a bit but I'm not sure you'd want him Grin

Took the boys swimming today. T wriggled out of my grip and swam himself over to DH - ok he was wearing armbands but we were pretty impressed seeing as he hasn't been in the water since before Christmas.

Sleep still no better though, I cannot work out what the hell to do.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/04/2013 08:59

What's going on with the sleep (or lack of) Ali?

I likes to keep us on our toes with his sleep. We could never accuse him of being predictable......

Another sunny day here, it reached 20c yesterday but was very windy so felt cooler. We had our first BBQ of 2013, burgers on the BBQ are just the best.

We're having a quiet morning at home. Hopefully the boys will run off their beans in the garden. Back to pre school tomorrow Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/04/2013 13:29

He just doesn't do much of it ILike! He never has, never settled into a nice routine of napping or anything even when he was a baby. Literally as soon as he can drag his eyelids open he is awake and hits the ground running.

Yesterday he didn't nap, and then went to bed at 8 as normal. Awake at 5.15 for the day. He's asleep now because we've been out and he's slept in the car but I will have to wake him soon else he will be awake at 2am wanting to chat and sing songs. Argh.

Went to see a friend this morning who had a baby last week. Lots of snuffly cuddles Grin

MrsWajs · 15/04/2013 13:51

BBQ? Whaasat?? It pissed with rain here yesterday but it was warmer....

Went to wedding fayre at my preferred wedding venue yesterday, I wish we could just book it!!

20 week scan is this Thursday! Yay, finally! I'm signed off work now until Friday so trying to take it easy but it's badly timed as we are moving house on Friday so I kind of need to pack! :(

For those who's LOs have turned 2 already what did you get them as presents? We have got R a happy land house and people, clothes, Finding Nemo DVD - she's obsessed with fish and we were also going to get her a goldfish (yes, I do think we're insane) oh and a couple of books too. That's plenty isn't it? Or too much even? I can't decide. We didn't really get her anything for her 1st birthday as I didn't see the point so think I'm making up for it now that she knows what's happening.

GlaikitFizzog · 15/04/2013 14:14

Oh mrsW is it the place bringing with F that you likes on FB?

Ooh a good fish!! B would love that! My sister has gone mad on happy land. I secretly think she has bought all the things she wants to play with! We are thinking about a little trampoline from us. My parents will go mad on clothes and books, so I'll maybe get some car and tucks as that's all he is interested in right now.

Did I mention I have ticke tot see meatloaf in Sheffield on Friday? But I've just heard he cancelled his gig in Nottingham last night! This happened with Michael Jackson, I got tickets, then he popped his clogs. I hope meat doesn't.

JKSLtd · 15/04/2013 14:23

Fizz - hope he doesn't cancel or even worse pop his clogs before Fri.

We've got DD a Little Tikes house - it's huge but was only £5.50 on ebay - collection nearby so i couldn't resist! I've bought a few more bits to go with it. A princess aquadraw that a friend has handed down. And some chocolate. That's it so far.

I've just written down the cost so far and it's only 20-odd quid. Think she'll get a money transfer into her savings account to make up for it.

We're planning a picnic in the local park with whoever wants to join us on the day (Sat) - it is forecast dry...so far. So i'll do some cakes & take along some balloons.

MIL is coming so I'm sure she'll bring tonnes a few bits. She's asked for ideas but i haven't come up with anything

DD's sleep is still good, thankfully. But she's just coming out (hopefully) of a crying when left stage which isn't nice. She seems to want to keep her door open to fall asleep so that seems to be working atm.

Kittycatcat · 15/04/2013 16:48

I bloody love meatloaf. Saw him a few tears ago. The band are ill apparently. Fingers crossed fizz

GlaikitFizzog · 15/04/2013 17:14

Kitty, the more I learn about you the more alike I think we are!!

Kittycatcat · 15/04/2013 17:36

I thought the same thing fizz

JKSLtd · 15/04/2013 20:54

Sorry to bring it down....

Boston marathon :( :(

and

My Mum's myeloma (bone cancer) has come back.
we knew it would & that it was coming soon.
is there a support thread for cancer on MN for people's parents?

I don't want to put stuff on FB as my Mum is on there. Trying to be cool, she last had treatment in 2001 (was in hosp for Sept 11). She's done very well so far and had over a decade drug-free. but still.

am on the Wine

GlaikitFizzog · 15/04/2013 21:10

Oh JKS :( I'm so sorry. I have no knowledge of myeloma, but you know we are here for you whenever you need to talk. Maybe pop on to the tamoxifen thread, those ladies seen to know a lot about that type of thing. Or start your own thread in general health. Bastard cancer

And OMG I've just turn the news on :(

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/04/2013 21:10

JKS Sad about your mum. WineSounds like a good plan.

Kittycatcat · 15/04/2013 22:07

Oh jks. So sorry. Big hugs. We are all here for you. Envy

And Boston!!! Terrible.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 16/04/2013 11:26

I'm so sorry to hear that JKS. don't ever apologise for talking about it here, it's what we are here for.

I think I have seen a thread about taking care of parents, if I can find it I will post a link.

It's so bloody unfair.

JKSLtd · 16/04/2013 11:44

Thanks folks :)

This time the treatment will be very different, last time was 6 months on an isolation ward & 6 months in rehab.
Think this time it's simply tablets to take at home Shock
Amazing.

Meanwhile, I have been to doc for tablets of my own, will start back on the pill once AF arrives. Not a definite no more DC decision but a step towards it....

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/04/2013 11:51

JKS - is that purely down to advances in treatment? That's amazing.

JKSLtd · 16/04/2013 11:58

Yes & no.

When she was diagnosed, it was from a routine blood test for health insurance (through my Dad's work & him changing jobs), she was otherwise perfectly healthy.
So she was put on a trial (not sure if anyone else ever was as it was so drastic) of having a MASSIVE chemo dose straight away. Because of that she was in hosp (obv) & in isolation as it wiped out her immunity. Then she had a bone marrow transplant (her own bizarrely as they can apparently 'clean' it up of the cancer) and it took her ages to build back up.
Then she was put on Thalidomide as a cancer treatment (very good at it apparently) but it damaged her nerves and meant she couldn't walk. Then there was a wait for a rehab place. She was at the rehab for 6 months before she could walk again, though she still is unsure on her feet and is now quite unfit (separate rant!) & her hands don't work properly.

This time, for relapsed myeloma, they just prescribe a related-to-thalidomide drug that you take at home. Maybe with steroids too. But no chemo as such.

It's weird as I knew all the ins and outs of her treatment before, all the numbers for various blood tests, etc. Now I know nothing. I was in hosp pretty much every day for those 6 months, not fun. Plus my Dad was still working abroad so he wasn't much practical help.
This time they are actually living together and he can help, so hopefully I won't be trekking down to Devon every few days...selfish I know but my 3 siblings are no help/abroad/working so I know any extra help will be down to me.
