Diege · 14/05/2006 09:44

LOL GG!!! My 'markers' are usually clothes shops Blush!! You have one mobile baby there!! L still isn't rolling!!
BROWNIE: congrats on sticking it out for so long!! Poor you and poor Brownies!! remember weekends away as a Guide, with leader (Arcala??) making us all gargle with TCP urghh!!
BEAR: Not sure if C's cold has got to the cough stage yet, but as long as it's loose sounding, it hasn't spread to chest (and this is nurse diege speaking!! Wink)If you have any doubts though, get him checked out. That's what they are there for, and reassurance is priceless!!
Well, Jasmine doesn't have the spots yet - thinking she may have some sort of immunity perhaps as while she's never had it, she was in contact a lot when a baby, and was onlt one on whole nursery group not to contract it. Famous last words!!!!...
Speak later!
Diege Smile

twinkle1 · 14/05/2006 14:29

Diege · 14/05/2006 15:04

Hi TWINKLE!! How long till Malta now? Room for 5 small ones?? Grin. Think everyone else is still going to MH, though won't be the same without your old shopping buddy eh!!WinkMaybe we could do Salford Quats, or evn town centre Manchester again soon? Hope your cold clears up soon; makes everything feel like you're walking through concrete!
Well, brightened up here so off out to park I think Smile.
DH is 'injured' and out of action due to falling off bike into hawthorn bush when trying to get back home after watching FA cup final yesterday Grin. Shouldn't laugh, but y'know...Grin

ChaCha · 14/05/2006 20:29

Hi Girls,

Brownie - Sorry to hear about your mum and her situation. No gratitude for someone who has worked for the company as long as she has. I do hope everything works out well for her in the end.

Diege - Thinking of you. GG - How funny!

Well, I had a horrible mummy moment here today :( :( :( As usual LO came into bed with me this morning and we had our usual cuddle but stupid mummy fell asleep (late night home) while DS managed to roll over and over until at edge of the bed, get the two large pillows on the floor before he himself landed with a thud on the floor :( :(
I woke up not knowing where the hell he was or where I was! Picked him up, gave him a cuddle and DH and I kept an eye on him for a while, seems fine.
Doesn't bear thinking about but what if i'd had a hardback book on the floor or just anything else. If you can call it lucky, at least he just landed on the carpet. Hope this doesn't have some effect later in life. I feel awful. He's in at everything, cannot keep my eyes off him. Nothing is safe anymore!!!
Moan over, just feel so terrible for letting that happen. On a happier note, we start weaning tomorrow :) Whoppeeee!

Bye for now, bad mummy ChaCha x

Diege · 14/05/2006 20:59

CHACHA!!! I know it's a shock when things like this happen, but trust me as they get older and more mobile, this will seem like nothing!! Hope you're not serious about thinking you're a bad mummy - the very fact you're so concerned shows how brilliant you are Smile Remember falling asleep after bf dd1, and waking up to find her at bottom of bed, under covers when only 6 weeks old - that's never left me! Blush
Yes, meant to say BROWNIE how awful your mum's situation at work seems. There are bullies everywhere, and what seems the best strategy to deal with them somehow never quite materialises when facing them (for me anyway). There should be policies in place at work to prevent this sort of thing (I'm a harrassment officer, and what your mum is going through is sadly very common - usually, though not always, inflicted by male bosses Sad). Is there anyine like this she could talk to? Is she in the Union?
Well, DH is taking tommorrow and Tues off to look after Scarlett, then I'm taking over from there. Sort of hoping Jasmine gets the spots tommorrow, so it doesn't drag out longer than a week!

BEKsmum · 14/05/2006 21:04

Evening girsl,

Chacha don't beat yourself up honey, accidents do happen, remember we dropped Thomas at 6 weeks, babies are amzingly resilient and I'm sure Zayn has come to no real harm, he just got a bit of a fright, just the same as you did.

Diege hope the house of the pox is managing ok, hope Scarlet is feeling better. I take it your dh was drunk in charge of his bicycle then - it did make me laugh!

GG wow Shock at Sean crawling already, bet you've got to have eyes in the back of your head now! What a clever boy you've got there.

My dh is in the good books, along with my dad & my brother as they managed to get the back fence up yesterday and lay a base of concrete blocks plus get the first of two sheds up this weekend - hooray, now just have to fill a skip with the rubbish and fll the shed with all the gear that's strewn all over the garden!!!

Right off to give Karma a quick ring to see how her brother is. Speak to you all tomorrow. Beks

BEKsmum · 14/05/2006 21:34

Hello,

I'm afraid I'm back with some bad news, I've just spoken to Karma and sadly her brother passed away this morning in hospital, after suffing a major stroke.

Karma has said that she will try to post again in a week or so but until then wanted to thank you all for your kind thoughts and wishes.

Karma, we're thinking of you and as i said I'm here if you need me, love to you and your family, look after yourself Beks

LaylaandSethsmum · 14/05/2006 22:24

Evening everyone,
Karma - So sorry to hear about your brother. Thinking of you !!

Twinkle/Rodeo/BoB - I'm still up for MH on the 19th as June's a bit hectic for me, we can always have the excuse of having to meet again anyway as Diege can't make it1Grin
Rodeo is your phone back on now? Do you still want a lift? I'll probably be picking Layla up from Alvaston so can drop you home if you like but will confirm with MIL first!!
DH is off to London tomorrow for 2 weeks!Sad Its going to be hard work with 2 on my own but guess we'll muddle through!!

Anyway off to bed now Byeeee!!!Smile

Diege · 14/05/2006 23:02

Sad KARMA, thinking of you, and post when you can.

tessasmum · 15/05/2006 10:32

Oh Karma that's awful. I'm so, so sorry.

You know that we are here for you when you need us. Hug your children and make sure you look after youself.

ChaCha · 15/05/2006 11:04

Karma, My sincere condolences to you and your family :(

Thinking of you.

twinkle1 · 15/05/2006 11:08

Diege yeah when dd's spots are gone we will meet up:)

beartime · 15/05/2006 12:12

Brownie - thx for the reassurance abt taking Caleb- I rang the surgery this morning to get him checked Smile It took an hour and a half to get him back to sleep last night after he woke up, cos I couldn't let him cry at all because it made his cough so bad, so had to do pick up/put down and then pat him for ages!

GG - can't believe Sean is crawling already! Envy

Nurse Diege - LOL at hawthorne bush Grin

ChaCha - I always woke up in the first month thinking that Caleb had rolled off onto the floor and waking my poor DH up to ask him panicking where he was only to realise that we never put him in our bed in the first place! Someone said to me at this age they bounce pretty well though Smile

Karma - I'm so sorry about your brother Sad

ChaCha · 15/05/2006 12:30

Well, we've just had our first taste of babyrice and seems to have gone down well :)
I really enjoyed that! (Feeding him not the babyrice)
DS has officially taken up our bed. He just wont settle in cot. The minute we lie him in our bed he just closes his eyes and settles down for the night. Must admit is bit of a squash with neither of us being able to move much but he's happy and getting the sleep he needs so can't complain. Needless to say however, bed is up against the wall with cot on other side - I'm still paranoid about baby bungee antics!!!

What time is lunch time for your little ones, I make it 12pm.

M x

tessasmum · 15/05/2006 16:50

Just written and lost another epic and can't face trying again yet Sad
Going to go and cook dinner and sulk.

GarfieldsGirl · 15/05/2006 18:44

Karma - so, so sorry. Thinking of you Sad

Diege - pmsl at DH in a hawthorne bush, under the influence I take it! How are your LO's doing?

ChaCha - I'm sure there'll be more and more bumps to come! Don't beat yourself up about if only i'd done this, if I hadn't done that, what if that was there, what if that wasn't there etc. etc. otherwise there'll be no time n the day to think of anything else Smile Lunch here is between 1130-12.

BEKs - sounds like it's all go at your house! Def agree with having eyes in the back of my head, esp as he's not interested in his own toys, but if he spies one of Owens power rangers, he's there in a flash!

Oooh Twinkle, how exciting!!! Sorry no advice, but good luck GrinSmileGrin

Bear - hope Caleb is ok. Make the most of Caleb not moving around yet, there won't be a second of rest for you once he is Grin

Hello to everyone else Smile

From bad mummy to smug mummy today. I've just found out that the school that Owen's going to in Sept has a waiting list. Quite a few people put their LOs names down when they're born Shock. We're obviously lucky we live so close.

browniechick · 15/05/2006 19:32

Hi All, Firstly -thoughts, hugs and prayers to Karma and your family on your sad loss. Much love and strength from us to you. Give your little ones loves and cuddles. And make sure you look after yourself as much as you can.

Secondly, thanks for all your thoughts and comments on my Mums situation. Diege, yes she recently joined the Union as a result of this "man" (and I use the term loosely Angry). Unfortunately he is a very wily (oops nearly wrote willy!) man, who can turn any situation to his advantage. She has been to see her GP today who has signed her off for 3 weeks, and has said he will only sign her back on if the situation has got better (i.e. she doesn't have to deal with twat-head). Luckily her GP is very understanding and she has never given in to her illness before, and it has been proven that undue stress and anxiety can cause flare-ups in her illness, so he is happy to help.

Chacha - you are not a bad Mummy, just a human one Wink By the time our babes are 18, I am sure we will be able to write a book on , "oh gosh do you remember the time I nearly, and he nearly.......!" so don't panic, it just proves you are a good, loving, human Mummy Smile

Thomas is now loving parsnip, carrot, sweet potato, pear and banana (not all together though!!) Am dragging the weaning process out to be honest, cos he isn't 6 months yet, so am trying not to introduce more than one meal a day till then, then I will get nursery to put him on their menu too, which will make it easier.

Bless him!

Will catch up again later, off to have a(nother!!) glass of wine and lemonade.

B&T

tessasmum · 15/05/2006 20:00

OK, still sulking about losing earlier mammoth post but will try to recap.

BEKS - how is Ben and the nightmare tantruming scenarios? Hope the phase is passing. HUGE sympathy for you all from us here, its horrible isn't it? We've had some mega ones recently. We try and either remove Tessa or we move, depending on which is easiest, and let her yell it out. Once she is calm I will talk to her again, try and sort out/discuss what happened, get her to apologise and have a big hug then try and move on (easier for her than me I think!) That's the theory anyway, doesn't always play out that way.
Well done to Thomas for rolling and Sean for crawling, definately a November first there.

ChaCha - sorry, no idea about campsites in Wales though we go to a great one in Devon (near Exmouth) Rodeo sent me \link{http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites\this}
We have usually been camping at juggling/circus festivals so it has been in the grounds of schools/colleges but have started to do real campsites now too.
Since this morning there is now a camping topic on MN!
Been thinking about converting Jane too but can't remember where we put the bits Blush It was dismantled when Ash was about a week old so brains all a bit fuzzy!

Diege - how is the pox household?

Rodeo - we have a Nikon Coolpix which is small and easy to use. Think they do a variety of price ranges too.

OK, that's some of it. Off to watch Tiny Tearaways and remind myself that we are lucky!

Rodeo · 15/05/2006 20:55

Evening :)

Have been reading but not having time to post over the last few days (24, Lost, etc Grin), but I'm free now...
Karma, so sorry about your brother :( Thinking of you...
Tessasmum, I could kill myself when I lose big posts, so annoying, v.good of you to do it again! Thanks for camera tip :)
Diege, how are the spots?? How's dh been with the spotty one?! Has he had Libs too?
Twinkle, L&Smum, Bob, looking forward to Fri :) Lift would be great L&S, I'll get your number off Yahoo and ring you on Thurs night if that's ok to get your address or convenient pick up point!
Getting out new car tomorrow, thank god, pending it's MOT tonight so fingers crossed!
Chacha, poor you at the falling off the bed :( Been there quite a few times, Joe used to launch himself off at any opportune moment! Jess has her lunch around 1, with breakfast at 9 and tea around 5, she started off with tea at 5, then she started having lunch a few weeks later and then breakfast, but think I may have mixed that up! J also prefers our bed to hers, I've advised dp let her sleep with him when I go away - if she sleeps at all (gulp)!
Brownie - What a git! I'm really protective of my mum and sister and think I may hunt the purpetrator down if it was happening to them! Grrrrrrr! Wine and lemonade, yum! You've reminded me I've got about a glass of red left from yesterday, mmmmm!
Well I'm down to 2 breast-feeds a day now, one around 7pm and one around 5am, want to swap the 5am feed for a formula feed but not sure how that will go down, bit nervous about trying - I'm pretty sure she'll scream the place down, but want to have it sorted before I go away, so might attempt it tonight. Any tips?
Hello everyone else - Nova, Bear, Bob, Beks (all the Bs!) GG...
Oops, another long one from me, sorry!

OP posts:
Rodeo · 15/05/2006 21:00

God I'm so insensitive, I apologise for the the 'I want to kill myself line' just after offering condolences to Karma. Sorry.

OP posts:
beartime · 15/05/2006 21:06

Well Caleb really didn't like the baby rice either yesterday or today even tho' it was mixed with fruit. I don't know whether its because he's ill or he doesn't like it - he ate it before. So today I went and made some sweet potato and fruit separately (cos he had it for lunch OK) and he ate it! I wish they could talk!

ChaCha - I'm still having the same feelings of enjoyment feeding Caleb food - especially cos I know its making him less likely to wake in the night Grin. His lunchtime is still 11am but will move it gradually forward to whatever Gina says Wink

Twinkle - I bought 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility' a while back cos I had the same problem - ttc while bfing. But from reading that (I am now an expert Grin) I realised that if we have no period that means we are not ovulating. Apart from the one exception that we may ovulate one time before our first period, so it is possible to get pg before AF returns. But basically if you do ovulate then AF will follow, so you will know if you did. If you want to try and get pg before your first AF then you should probably monitor your cf/cm and wait till its eggwhite and go for it, and then if you also are monitoring your temperature first thing then you will know if you ovulated cos it will go up, and you will know if you are pg cos it will stay up for more than 18 days. I tried that for a while, but then got discouraged due to no ovulation, so I decided that I would go the alternative route and just wait till first AF so I wouldn't keep having my hopes dashed! Still hasn't come yet though Sad. But after the recent news article about having a gap less than 9mths b4 babies is bad for them, it makes me less bothered. So if I were you I wouldn't get too excited. You might not start ovulating till 9mths/a year, tho' I think 60% or something get AF back at 6 mths. Sorry about all of that for everyone who's not interested!

I ordered a healthy care booster seat from amazon today - on the babycenter (usa) website it had 90 reviews where everyone raved about it! I figured it would be longer lasting, and portable and compact (as we don't have much room due to working out of our home) - ve vill see!

Rodeo · 15/05/2006 21:18

We warned you babyrice was foul, Bear! Try it yourself!!

OP posts:
beartime · 15/05/2006 21:34

I have tried it. and I agree it doesn't taste that good! What's a good carb. alternative for 6mths other than sweet potato - don't want him to get stuck on that! D'you think he might have ate it at first because it was all I gave him, but then once he realised there were other things out there he decided he didn't want it? Help - how am I going to do Gina now with no babyrice!!

Rodeo · 15/05/2006 21:43

You might be right there Bear, how about root vegetables (swede, parsnip, potato, carrot) loosened up with a bit of milk or cooking water? If he's 6 months you can add a bit of cows milk. Much tastier :)

Well done on holding out to 6 months BTW!

OP posts:
Rodeo · 15/05/2006 21:46

Don't rely on Gina too much, either! Go with you own instincts :) Don't think Diege sticks to it that religiously!!
