VQ I bet they thought you were hard! I taught in a school where the catchment was Brixton. Tough was just not the word! Made working in any other school a piece of piss though. Saying that, house prices there are through the roof! A friend bought a tiny one bedroom flat for 250k!

PetiteRaleuse · 30/01/2013 19:55

Thanks Stunt for the book recommendation. I put it on my wish list. I already bought how to talk so your brat little darling will listen today.

Thanks VQ for the encouragement Grin

GTbaby · 30/01/2013 19:55

Katie. I'm west London. V near Heathrow.

Det thanks for karvol tip! He sounds so much better.

Evilwater · 30/01/2013 19:57

Sorry for going a bit mad yesterday with the posts, I guess I was so excited to be out the house. It's date nite, but so far all its been is bath night for me. Which is nice, because I get to be me.

Garden- I think I am the most southerly poster, now that pasties has disappeared.

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 19:57

Yes, the Academy >

Bagels fresh from the oven on Brick lane after a night of dancing at Big Country.

Wondering why I could never get a date with a Prison Officer (my brother had threatened to kill anyone who went near me)

Stockwell was a scary place. A girl was raped in a passageway just minutes after I had gone through. We wore mufti for safety reasons.

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 20:01

Comrade is in Southern Hemisphere I think.

garden I was well hard! About 2 years in I shaved my head and had my tongue pierced. I was very fit too in a GI Jane kinda way. That was my nickname, well, that and 'the arse' (in a good way). Good days Blush

TheDetective · 30/01/2013 20:03

No VQ! All slow teats went in the bin! He's half asleep now sporting a pissed off face Hmm

PetiteRaleuse · 30/01/2013 20:06

I had my drink spiked in the Fridge. Saw it happen though so nothing scary happened. Told my XP who was there too, and also saw it happen. He said it was my fault for dressing in a short skirt and we argued about it for weeks afterwards. Yes, he was the ultimate king of twats.

KatieLily12 · 30/01/2013 20:06

Wow Brixton sounds fun.... Moved Brixton WAY (read: can't afford the gentrified prices) when I was 6 months. Ended up pinging n and out if hospital for rest of pregnancy & now the little growth spurter is here? Yeah....

Love Brixton village, can't wait for warmer weather so I can enjoy it more with miss. Also Brockwell Park has saved my sanity these last few months.

I can do a North London meetup. Or somewhere halfway like John Lewis so I can have comrades if I get attacked for BF-ing again....

kirrinIsland · 30/01/2013 20:08

PR your toddler sounds exactly like mine :) right down to terrorising the dogs.

I'd kill for an early night....

gardenpixie32 · 30/01/2013 20:18

VQ that is an image of you I just cannot picture! Good times I bet.

PR he sounds charming!

PetiteRaleuse · 30/01/2013 20:19

Yeah it's fun isn't it Kirrin . Nevermind, they'll soon be old enough for us to read Famous Five books to them Wink

Thing is one second I want to throttle the little diva, but then she just has to smile, or laugh, or be cute somehow, or even cheeky and I remember how fab she is. Can't be annoyed for long. Luckily.

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 20:20

I was getting all reminiscent, then I looked down at his little face smiling up at me, and thought nah! Would not swap here and now for the world, as he would not be in it...... then I looked at DH heaving up his lung into a tea towel....

gardenpixie32 · 30/01/2013 20:22

Ah, I feel exactly the same about the girls. Life is different but in a good way would love a day off though

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 20:31

I was a Prison nurse, but still despised generally as I wore the Officer uniform (size 10 oh yeah! I wore it extremely well, fancied myself actually)

(Apologies if anyone has a loved one inside - this was a long time ago)

"Happiness is door shaped"
"You want sympathy? In the dictionary between shit and syphilis"
"You want a night draft? Open the fucking window"
"Here, have 10p so you can go and phone someone who gives a fuck"
"Yes you can ask a question, but the answer will always be no"

I was actually well thought of I think as I was always fair. I remember one unwell prisoner went to take me out with a snooker ball in a sock and another prisoner tackled him to protect me. My 'saviour' con had a CVA following this.

glendathegoodwitch · 30/01/2013 20:34

I'm in Essex but will be going to uni in Greenwich so I can meet up London way!!

rowingdowntheriver · 30/01/2013 20:37

katie, I'm S london (wimbledon) so not too far from you

Sophiathesnowfairy · 30/01/2013 20:40

Wow vq you can be my hero.

Can't even smell the Vicks. Feel like poo. At least Olly has gone to sleep.

Do you think Lemsip, glass of wine, nurofen is ok? Me not O.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 30/01/2013 20:44

Is anyone else slightly scared of VQ now?!

GTbaby · 30/01/2013 20:44

There is a bad atmosphere in the house. Your mums in a mood. I'm not happy. Just said between me n H. Baby monitor on in living room, where mil may or may not have been.

Oh fuck.

Elizadoesdolittle · 30/01/2013 20:46

I used to live in south London. I lived nr London bridge (just off borough high st) for years. And my first job was at arding and Hobbs in clapham so that became a regular going out haunt. Those were the days!

Well we've found another buyer for our house. DH isn't happy as its less than he wanted but agreed to take it for the sake of my sanity. I couldn't be doing with it dragging on. Hope things go smoothly from here so hopefully DH will be more at ease with the situation. I've promised to economise, hmmm not sure what will have to go. I don't spend much on myself as it is!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 30/01/2013 20:48

Oh no oh no oh no gt . Hide.

Although, seriously, might be about time you all cleared the air if you are going to live together or any amount of time.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 30/01/2013 20:48

Oh gt I've done that before. Said how much my mum was annoying me by intrfering with a little argument my sister and i were having. You'll only do it once, if that is any comfort. Can you go and find your MIL and ask if she is ok and make it sound like you were concerned for her? Eek.

daisychain76 · 30/01/2013 20:51

Wow vq! I have done a bit of teaching in an open prison and found that daunting enough!

Catbag yes, l am a law person. Used to be a solicitor. Just love law ~ if i was ever going to have a tattoo it would be the scales of justice.

garden, if you don?t mind me asking, what makes you say you can?t do BLW? I was planning on doing it with H (who was7 weeks early).

TheDetective · 30/01/2013 20:59

Stupid questions dot com.

How often are you changing wet nappies now? Oscar rarely cries for a wet one, so sometimes I forget leave it a little long, he was in one for 6 hours the other day Blush but he didn't seem to give a crap...!!

And why does he ALWAYS wait for a clean one to do the actual crap?!
