It was DS1. Banging on his wall. For no apparent reason.

I had to get out as I was falling asleep. Am falling asleep sat here now!

Duuuuuh.

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 18:53

PR totally normal behaviour, and she will just get better. At pushing your buttons, that is. This too will pass. In your case just as your LO is entering that phase.

detective when DS was first born, I looked at the 'staying awake at night' support thread and everyone was mentioning cot transfer. At the time I thought it odd that so many were feeding toddlers who were going from cot to bed. Then I realised they were talking about putting baby down in cot, and I was still puzzled. Then DS, who must have been reading my thoughts, decided to show me exactly what they meant. Never had the problem with the girls. Ever. Taught me so much.

I have found a good way of getting medicine into a sad hot tired bf baby without tears or spilling most of it:

Draw up meds in a syringe, and hold plunger end in your mouth.
Place baby on breast and when they have had a little milk and in a nice rhythm of feeding, gently remove nipple. Baby will be grateful for opportunity to breathe hopefully.
Place drop of medicine on top of nipple, and pop laced nipple back in. Takes a bit of practice.
Repeat until it is all ingested.
Be prepared for disappointment that milk is no longer strawberry flavoured.

This would not work for antibiotics, and could put baby off nipples for life.

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 18:55

And wash your nipple well after otherwise it gets fluffy.

Of course you're in N London Blonder (collapses on floor). ;)

pidjin I love tying LO to me for journies but need a quick 'insert baby here' type sling for the house. She gets too angry when I try to settle her in it with the stretchy ring sling. She won't sleep anywhere but a sling but screams blue murder when I put her in. Once I'm walking she's all eyes and then z's. nightmare. What do you dress yours in to go out?

gardenpixie32 · 30/01/2013 19:16

Katie I lived in south London for 10 years. Clapham. Where are you?

KatieLily12 · 30/01/2013 19:19

(Pricks ears) lived? I'm brixton way

Sophiathesnowfairy · 30/01/2013 19:26

12 week growth spurt terrorist is asleep.

I feel shit.

Glass of wine and two squares of dairy milk.

blonderthanred · 30/01/2013 19:26

Pennie that is the Comfort one right? It might be worth a try.

L is very snuffly since he started the formula as well, is this normal? I've been salining his nose but it has affected his sleep as he is more snorty than usual.

I could do a N London meet, was going to go to the Lakeside one if that's still on the cards as I didn't think there was anyone near me although still tempted by Scottish adventure prob not practical

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 19:30

(Pricks ears up too) I lived on Brixton Hill for three years. Awesome place. My patch was Brixton, Streatham, Clapham and Stockwell Park Estate. I was a district nurse.

TheDetective · 30/01/2013 19:30

I fell asleep. For 10 minutes. Til DP found me. :( Gutted.

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 19:32

blonder makes wee holiday of it.

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 19:33

detective Biscuit (re: early nights)

gardenpixie32 · 30/01/2013 19:43

Yes, lived. I am now in the west country, Cheltenham. Life is very different here, so much green! Brixton has some good nightlife!

gardenpixie32 · 30/01/2013 19:47

VQ those were some tough patches!

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 19:47

I had some fun in Brixton Blush young (long time ago, think IRA escape) free, single, loads of money. I lived in the Prison staff accommodation. Moved from there to Eastbourne. That was a shock I can tell you. I could not sleep for the quietness.

PurplePidjin · 30/01/2013 19:48

Katie i have a stretchy like a moby, all one long piece. Tie on in the morning, pop baby in and out as required.

For out, he wears his vest+cotton grow then on cold days a fleece hooded all in one (Tesco £10) or for shopping centres and mostly indoors i put him in a velour all in one, fluffy ugg type bootees. Always a woolly mummy-made hat :o

TheDetective · 30/01/2013 19:48

No one let's me have an early night! Waaaah!

Oscar just had his first proper angry cry (other than when he wants feeding!) and it was directed at the bottle. Wonder what it has done to upset him so much!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 30/01/2013 19:49

garden there are a couple of us in the westcountry, although further south than you! YY to the green!

Am watching last weeks OBEM. DH has fallen asleep upstairs putting DD to bed. Am tempted not to wake him, but he's got an xbox date loser so I guess I will.

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 19:50

garden I went from there to the Prison Service. On my first day, a lad asked where I came from, so I said Brixton. Never had a moments problem with any of them as it went around the nick that the new bird screw was a hard nut from Brixton Prison.

ValiumQueen · 30/01/2013 19:51

detective is it a slow teat by mistake?

blonderthanred · 30/01/2013 19:52

Brixton always = fun to me, lots of getting the first tube home in the morning after a bit of a rave and good nights at the Academy too.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/01/2013 19:53

I have some fond memories of Brixton way. A long time ago.
