Waddle waddle waddle...

Dixiebell · 24/01/2013 22:52

West Wing. All the way. Have all 8 series on rotation Grin.

An I still fly if I get DH to shine the sink? Hmm

Kyzordz · 24/01/2013 23:03

Evening all! I go for 7 or so hours and there's pages to catch up on!!!

Does anyone like old series like only fools n horses, bottom, porridge, open all hours etc? I call them my old faithfuls cos they always make me smile and I love watching them and don't have to pay too much attention!

I've been watching walking dead recently, I've got dexter but have yet to watch it, I loved lie to me, 24 and flash forward to name a few. Grimm is good too. I've got lots of box sets and should probably work my way through them! Sounds like I should probably crack on with dexter!

Songs wise, the one for me that makes me cry is stick to your guns by Bon jovi. When Eric was really small singing to him always settled him and when we first came home I put my iPod on random and this came on and I sung it to him and realised one day he'll scuff his knee and one day he'll get poorly and one day he'll feel disappointment, he might feel rejection, frustration, pain of loss and someone somewhere might one day break his heart. It's all just life but this song gets to me because it made me realise I can't protect him from everything and he'll be a man fighting his own battles one day. Aren't I depressing?!?! I think I was awfully emotional and didn't fully realise just how much you love your own baby. It actually hurts, or is that just me? cos I'm sad!

Lyrics

So you want to be a cowboy
Well you know it's more that just a ride
Guess you got to know the real thing
If you're gonna know the other side
Ain't nobody riding shotgun in the world tonight

And when you spit, you better mean it
You got to make 'em all believe it
If you're gonna be the one, whoa

Stick to your guns
Ain't nobody gonna hurt you, baby
You can go for the trigger but only if you have to

Aim from the heart
Some will love and some will curse you, baby
And you can go to war but only if you have to
It's only if you have to

So you want to be the big time
Some people gonna drag you down
There's no living in the backseat
If you're gonna drive through town
And when you pray for independence
Boy, you better stand your ground

You got to give it all you got now
Or you might get shot down
Fight hard until the battle is won

Stick to your guns
Ain't nobody gonna hurt you, baby
You can go for the trigger but only if you have to

Aim from the heart
Some will love and some will curse you, baby
And you can go to war but only if you have to
It's only if you have to, oh yeah yeah yeah

Well, you know that I been through it
I got the scars to prove it
Fight hard and the battle is yours, whoa

Stick to your guns
Ain't nobody gonna hurt you, baby
You can go for the trigger but only if you have to

Aim from the heart
Some will love and some will curse you, baby
And you can go to war but only if you have to
It's only if you have to

Stick to your guns, oh
Stick to your guns, oh

So you want to be a cowboy
Well you know it's more that just a ride
Guess you got to know the real thing
If you're gonna know the other side.

For nice songs 'beneath your beautufl' by labrinth (totally not my usual style) and I also love singing sweet child o mine by guns n roses and angel by Aerosmith. Oh and your song by elton John. I sing to him alot, the poor lad!

We could make a cd you know, we could all put forward one track each be a bloody big cd though!!

zcos · 24/01/2013 23:07

I love set fire to the third bar! Were you apart then?
Me and my DH don't have a song... Is that bad?
Picked a Sam Cooke one for first dance almost at random!

zcos · 24/01/2013 23:10

Petite love person of interest I agree simple but so hard to explain to anyone who hasn't seen it!

ChunkyChicken · 24/01/2013 23:20

Love West Wing, Person of Interest, Mentalist, Big Bang Theory, 2 Broke Girls (which snuck up on us), Criminal Minds, CSI, NCIS, Law & Order Criminal Intent, Only Fools & Horses, Yes (Prime) Minister in this house. Have DVDs of most of the above. Not a telly addict really, just have a hard drive recorder & watch everything on catch-up...

Just looked at my NOW 80 CD & realised how many songs are older than their popularity - judged by their presence on.that album. Teardrop, Iris to name 2. Weird. Everything happens in circles. Wish I had an ipod actually now to replace our stereo as I rarely listen to any of my CDs due to the faffing... Love Bon Jovi but haven't listened for ages for example.

On way to bed & will risk a dream feed for LO. Night all.

TheDetective · 24/01/2013 23:24

Oh I've just remembered a song I've been singing to Oscar. Aerosmith. Don't want to miss a thing. I'd like to say yes, I don't want to miss a thing... But 'I don't want to close my eyes, I don't want to fall asleep' would be a total, absolute lie. So I could be happy if I miss a few things. But not sleep.

Mmm Steve Tyler...

TheDetective · 24/01/2013 23:26

I have Now 20. Are they really on 80?! Bloody hell!

MissMummy1 · 24/01/2013 23:35

Mine and DP's song is Love Will Tear Us Apart Blush That and REM's Losing My Religion!

Matilda's song is also Power of Love as it was number 1 when she was born, and it was played on the radio in the car to and from hospital, and I sobbed my heart out to the JL advert the whole last month of my pregnancy! The lyrics seem apt too. Smile

YW was that the 5bed in Rosyth?

Pass think I've said before but Ian Rankin is my neighbour!

Boiler repaired. Had 3 internal leaks - oops! The lovely woman next door is preggers and due in August. So happy for them, they're a lovely couple! DP cocked up and wrote his mum and sisters birthdays the wrong way round on our planner. Facebook told me it was his mums today (not sundayAngry ). Luckily Royal Mail did me proud for once and her pressie arrived today. Thank god! I'm still least favourite offspring inlaw thoughEnvy

SIL's landlord has sold her flat. She needs to move out by February. Caught DP offering her our spare room if she was prepared to commute and stay in hotels during the week (I did Edinburgh to Aberdeen as a daily commute for over a year, but I'm a bit mental!) I'm not being unreasonable to be slightly peeved (read bloody furious) about this am I? Hmm

MissMummy1 · 24/01/2013 23:36

Stupid MM1, she's due in June! Feck knows where August came from!!

MissMummy1 · 24/01/2013 23:38

Oh and Snow Patrol - DP was friends with Gary Lightbody at school. Apparently he's a right nobber now Grin DP missed as he dissed his FB request

FatimaLovesBread · 24/01/2013 23:51

I have a demon child, she will not sleep. I am knackered and fed up today, just want DH to take over some of it for me just once. She must know I'm fed up and now she will not sleep. She knackered you can tell but she won't give in.

Detective I love that song it's on the twilight breaking dawn part one soundtrack

zcos · 25/01/2013 00:11

Must've been v wicked today ... No rest dd been on boob and fussing since bout 7 ... Past few nights has gone ddown at 11.30 not tonight it would seem and now I can hear next doors ds crying through the wall he is 2.5 years and cries so,much until recently it was every night...for ages. Father would shout sometimes shut up! X

zcos · 25/01/2013 00:22

Guessing everyone else is blissfully in land of nodd Envy Confused

FatimaLovesBread · 25/01/2013 00:40

No chance of sleep for me it seems Sad

zcos · 25/01/2013 00:53

Aw Fatima ... Could you at least agree with DH to take baby tommorow night for a bit ...
Think my DH doesn't realise how lucky he has it he just lies there sleeping from 11 til his alarm goes of at 7.20 baby does not wake him any grunt and I'm awake and if she is asleep and quite I have to check she is breathing. I got an angel sensor monitor this week but not had time yet to read the instructions and to set it up :(

glendathegoodwitch · 25/01/2013 01:03

We get all our tv series by download might give person of interest and mentalist a go!!!

Mine and dh's first dance was to the pulp fiction vincent and mia dance -you never can tell it was great!!!

I am sooooooo pissed with dh

After 5 failed transfers I said its his turn so he gets up and gets Dottie then stands in the bedroom with her screaming for 10 minutes - like I could sleep??? So I got up and brought her downstairs and defrosted some ebm and now she's snoozing but I'm now half way through big brother!!!

Why after 4 kids has he not figured out what to do??? Thought of moving out does seem appealing right now!!!

kirrinIsland · 25/01/2013 01:46

Bummer - up for a feed already. What happened to sleeping till 4?!

No, I don't think you're being unreasonable MM Something like that should be discussed.

glenda :(

Fingers crossed for smooth transfers and long sleeps for everyone xxx

PurplePidjin · 25/01/2013 03:00

My sleepy baby is back

Shame i was at work till 10:30 and only managed to sleep for 3 of his 6 hours Hmm

Still, i got 2oz at work and 3oz at 2am at 3 minutes each side! Just enough to go from rock solid to soft.

Dp and my song is Minnie Riperton "Loving You", R's is a Morgan Heritage track but i can't remember the exact name atm Blush it was the first one on the ipod on shuffle after he was born and seemed appropriate

ChunkyChicken · 25/01/2013 03:39

Apparently (so my DM says because she loves the song Confused) Steve Tyler wrote "Don't want to miss a thing" about his daughter detective so very apt.

fatima my DD has a muslin comforter. My DM cuts them into 4, stitches around the end. Big enough to cover a face, not big enough to suffocate iyswim. My DS started liking something over his face, as did my DN apparently, which is when my DSis started using the velvety soft flannel on his face, again so no risk of suffocation.

As for nursery, not a clue.

mm YANBU.

glenda that's annoying.

The longest feed interval in the last 24hrs has been less than 5hrs, which is frustratingly short compared to just a few days ago. Only 3.5hrs between the dream feed & this (v brief) feed. He seemed to be miserable & wouldn't take the dummy so I figured hungry but now he's snoozing & I'm not so sure.Confused

ValiumQueen · 25/01/2013 03:53

10.30 to 3.15. Cannot complain. Fed and settled by 3.45 incl nappy change. Small planet barely damp so really pleased with new nappy combo.

DH told me about a book where the baby was plotting to kill his mummy. He reads some strange books!

Catbag · 25/01/2013 03:55

My name is Catbag and I am a West Wing addict. DH and I rewatch the entire boxset at least once a year (bear in mind that we are in our final year at uni- invariably there hasbeen something else we should have been doing! ) and random discs on a Sunday afternoon or if it is raining etc. We quote it at each other quite a bit, when circumstance requires a good quote Grin I like stuff like 'post hoc ergo propter hoc' and knowing that the British, after eating the meal that was set out, torched the White House (I know this because Leo likes to show people the soot marks on the wall).

I would like to think I am Toby, a brilliant mind with the soul of a poet. DH informs me that I am Josh :/ My kids have grown up with it and love it as much as we do Grin

Other than that, X Files, House, 24 (although not so much lately as I lent the boxsets to friends only to never see them again as we don't have all the sets), Game of Thrones, Homeland, Firefly... We went through Buffy and Angel this time last year. I have just started Prison Break today, and I bought Band of Brothers for DH as he says we have to watch that when we have finished uni stuff.

I should add that we don't actually watch tv, lol. I threw out my tv in a fit of pique in January 2007, just before meeting DH, as I became angry at just how reliant I was on it. I thought the kids would complain, but they didn't mind at all. We bought the kids a Wii for Christmas (2008, I think) and then obviously needed a tv to use with it. I had had my bank charges refunded so bought a shiny big flat screen, but to this day it has never been connected to an aerial. It is used for dvds and the Wii and that is it. Magdalena is almost 5 and has been brought up without the tv, just dvds. I like it like this :)

ChunkyChicken · 25/01/2013 03:59

Had some thoughts earlier that I meant to add.

Failed to get time to clean my sink. Like the FlyLady concepts etc & want to start so figured it'd be baby step 1 today, but no. I have this disgusting 10yo cream MFI type 'stone effect' sink that we've no money to replace yet. It essentially stains as soon as look at it, needs bleaching to get clean, & the tap leaks at the base, so leaves a small puddle around it that becomes mouldy gunge within hours. Yuck. It is NOT a 5mins job so can only do if both dc are asleep. Which is frustrating as I know that I can have better habits if I start somewhere, but its getting it properly clean first that's the problem iyswim.

I hate so many things about this house like that. The central heating & plumbing is shit, the sink is minging, as is the shower screen. It's all little niggly things that we had done at our old house but need time & money to get done here. Rome wasn't built in a day & all that, & this is our forever home if we don't win the lottery, but its hard to put up with stuff sometimes.

Pushchairs/disabled access. Walked to the shops today using the tandem. Woman in a nice car pulls into the disabled bay in the car park, jumps out, goes to boot for buggy. "That's a disabled bay you know?" I say. "Yes," she says."Do you have a blue badge?" I say, giving her benefit of doubt, not all disability is visible, could be a child's badge etc."No" she says, bold as brass, doesn't even seem to give a damn. So I called her an ignorant selfish person & carried on my way wishing I could have used more choice words.

She follows me to the PO. Bearing in mind I have a too big (but standard size 120x60) cot mattress in the lower seat of the tandem, DD next to me (who's walked all the way- about 10mins at toddler speed, so not exactly far) & DS in the top seat. This selfish cow has a toddler & an older baby in the buggy. Wtf does she need to park in the disabled bay? She doesn't need the extra room or the proximity. Hope she never has a disability & finds the parking spaces taken by selfish blond numpties like her.

ChunkyChicken · 25/01/2013 04:01

Wow, epic post!! Blush

KatieLily12 · 25/01/2013 04:19
