Detective i didn't have a TV at all for the ten years I lived in Paris. I'm making up for lost time now Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 24/01/2013 20:39

Have you guys got the new series of Dexter? I remember last year it was on UK TV a few weeks ahead of France. I only have the freebiew UK channels though and I think it's on sky isn't it?

Pikz · 24/01/2013 20:44

I'm a homeland and west wing addict.

LO full of Capol and boobie milk. Crossing everything for sleep.

I love a king prawn purée too Sophia

ValiumQueen · 24/01/2013 20:49

Not seen the last series of Dexter. Never too late for Dexter.

Passmethecrisps · 24/01/2013 20:50

DH never watches normal telly. I do but not anything specific. We have Love film streamed to our telly which is awesome.

We are currently watching:
Homeland - finished series 1 waiting for LF to get series 2
Dexter - waiting for series 5 I think. LF obviously only have one copy of this or something . . .
Breaking bad - series 4.
Treme - series 1.

DH is working his way through The Sheild on the streaming and I finished ashes to ashes during the day.

It sounds like we at total telly addicts but typically we watch one episode of whichever series we have the disk for per evening. Sometimes on the weekend we watch more.

ValiumQueen · 24/01/2013 20:53

Not seen series 7 so after Church scene. There is a season 8 which may or may not be the last.

Passmethecrisps · 24/01/2013 20:57

Started watching the West Wing - didn't do it for me. Think I should have given t more time though

Other favourites have been
The wire - all time fav. Loved series 3 about he education system
24 - who doesn't love jack Bauer? I model myself of Chloe BTW
Sopranos - DH has an ambition to open a lesbian Badda Bing in our town
Law and Order Criminal Intent - even in the soporific strings on the last 15 minutes ALWAYS makes DH fall asleep.

There is a theme here. Secretly both DH and I would like to be coppers. I would be the earnest, bleeding heart, in it for fairness and believes in rehabilitation.
DH would be the grizzled heavy drinker who flirts on the wrong side of the law but gets results.

Actually, to anyone who reads Ian Rankin I would be Siobhan and he would be rebus.

Evilwater · 24/01/2013 21:02

Hello all, wow we can talk.
Something weird happened at bedtime, we cried but it wasn't his normal cry. It was grumpy and angry sounding with a bit of temper too. It was so not like him, he seems to be asleep now and I can't place anything wrong. Should I be worried?

We have had blue sky and sunshine today, so I have been out to Tavistock. All this wet, and freezing weather has started to give me cabin fever.

About this time last year we were all sex fends, and now....... Not so much. I miss the sex but I'm still very mad at P.

Evil

BigPigLittlePig · 24/01/2013 21:14

evil if he's all settled then it was probably a bit of bad wind (seems to get blamed for everything). Grumpy & angry sums up the screams we had overnight last night. Glad you managed to get out today Smile

ChunkyChicken · 24/01/2013 21:16

Still catching up but if I don't post now, I never will...

Welcome Katie zcos I think & someone else maybe??!!! Oh and any other MrNovMums sneaking a peak.

Katie have you tried taking a picture of your DD feeding &/or recording her crying? I find that looking at a feeding pic & imagining feeding him helps with let-down. I also leak profusely, so between the pump & the breast shells collecting leakage whilst feeding, I can get a few oz in a few minutes with minimal effort.

I'm v tempted with the mirena coil but seeing as I need a smear, plus I haven't had a period yet, thought I'd wait a bit before upsetting the Apple cart iykwim.

Passmethecrisps · 24/01/2013 21:22

evil p is mastering the furious shout like a champion. She now makes a noise which is certainly not crying but a shout of proper anger. If whatever she is shouting about does not get resolved she will then cry fairly hard but a normal cry. I think some babies are particularly good at expressing themselves verbally. I second that it was wind. P cries out in her sleep fairly often and I reckon it is wind.

FatimaLovesBread · 24/01/2013 21:22

Still catching up, Ms determined to not let me read the thread.

At night she gets v cranky and overtired but wants to look around so I've started to put a muslin over her face to cover her eyes. She now likes to play with it and rub it in her face when tired. If I put it in her basket with her will she suffocate herself?

We're going to look at a nursery tomorrow for M, what would you be looking out for? What questions do I need to ask?

BigPigLittlePig · 24/01/2013 21:27

Am going to feed LO then attempt bed. Wish me luck. It can't be as bad as last night better bloody not be

Evilwater · 24/01/2013 21:28

Wishing you luck big. I'm going to bed early as I am very tired.
Evil

ChunkyChicken · 24/01/2013 21:29

Have you tried any of the natural galactogogues (I think that's the right term) to up your milk Katie? Try fenugreek I think - someone I know is attempting to re-lactate & got milk out with breast compression & nipple stimulation after 2mths not feeding, only a drop mind, but still. There is also the supplemental nursing system route to consider... Don't despair about expressing, I never managed much with my DD, my first, and stress won't help the situation. If you're crying when you think of feeding her, that means you're still invested in the process, so don't stifle that emotion - try to use it iyswim.

Is there a 10wk spurt? DS has been head butting, nodding & generally fussing. Or could the cold do that?

Thanks detective. I feel like if it were down to DH, he'd def wake. He doesn't seem pissed off with me today, despite the lack of sleep, so can only assume its water off a ducks back although part of me wishes he was a bit annoyed, so he might not ignore me.

KatieLily12 · 24/01/2013 21:35

(Smacks forehead) breast shells! Why didn't I think of that. I leak all the time'

Duh

PetiteRaleuse · 24/01/2013 21:37

Pass We bought the whole box set of the Wire at xmas but with everything that happened we have only watched one episode so far. Next box set I'm buying is West Wing.

Another thing we watch is Person of Interest. It's a good idea and interesting and nice snd easy.

We also watch Criminal Minds when we want something easy to watch.

KatieLily12 · 24/01/2013 21:37

chunkychicken that's sound advice about using the emotion. I like that

blonderthanred · 24/01/2013 21:53

I don't really watch American tv shows, just can't get into them. It's Homes Under the Hammer and Pointless all the way for me.

All the songs I associate with DS are pop songs that were out during the pregnancy. In particular 212 by Azaelia Banks. Which is extremely rude and inappropriate! But the song that always makes me laugh is Calvin Harris - Bounce. In the last month whoever I was on my birthing ball, my brother would start playing it on his laptop. Funnily enough CH now has a song out called Drinking From the Bottle. It's like he's spying on me...

Eliza sorry about the lack of weight gain. So frustrating I know.

ChunkyChicken · 24/01/2013 21:54

I too have a period tracker telling me its 317 days late...

I get electric shocks in my boob on let down, particularly the prolific right boob :(

I don't have a special song off the top of my head (although wish I did, I always feel a bit lacking in romance when DH & I don't have a song & now the dc don't either!! We dances to fly me to the moon at our wedding - star crossed lovers we ain't Wink ). However I do sing a song I made up for DD. Sung to tune of winnie the pooh.

Mummy loves you
Mummy loves you
Even when you've done a stinky poo
Mummy loves you
Mummy loves you
Even when you cover her on snot & drool
Mummy loves you
Mummy loves you
Even when you make that horrible noise
Mummy loves you
Mummy loves you
Very very very very much

Blush

I couldn't think of any proper songs when DD was newly born so had to improvise. Now I'm a mine of lullabies!!!

Empire state of mind always makes me think of DD, as I used to love singing it at the top of my voice when driving to & from work, when pg with her. Not sure anything hit home like that with DS.

Giving up catching up now - DS asleep & I want CHOCOLATE!!! Layers...Grin

YellowWellies · 24/01/2013 22:06

Hello lovelies can you tell I'm out and about more now I'm off the windy rock - my post count has halved!

Our fave series are Forbrydelsen (the original Danish Killing) and I got through the first 1.5 months of slow night feeds thanks to Greys Anatomy.

DH and my song is 'Set the fire to the 3rd bar' by Snow Patrol and Martha Wainwright. I sing 'Dream a little dream' by Mama Cass, 'That's amore' and 'Marble Halls' from La Boheme to my wee mannie - the latter was my Mum's favourite song and something we played at her funeral - it makes me feel she's getting to meet her wee grand baby Smile

I realised Jonas doesn't look like a newborn anymore - they change so quick don't they Shock he doesn't sleep like a newborn anymore either thank god - he did 10.30 til 6am last night

Went to our first house viewing this pm smack bang in the middle of DS' cluster feeding - much wailing ensued. Nice house, dodgy area, overpriced. Next! Also arranging a night viewing in a house with power failure confirmed the Muppet status of EAs in my mind!

NotSoNervous · 24/01/2013 22:16

I've been trying to catch up all day but something comes up then when I come back there's another 100 posts Shock we'll need anew thread tomorrow, gave we even had this one a week? Grin

katie don't feel sad, this thread is great for support whenever you need it. With pumping I found it a nightmare with a manual, I could never get the let done unless DD was feeding but I'd try pictures, her clothes/blanket and thoughts but nothing worked, i could spend 30 min pumping and be lucky to get 2oz. I've brought the spectra 3 after recommendations on here and I've used it once and was impressed. I got 2oz in 15 min then had to stop. I also had to be as relaxed as possible otherwise I'd get a couple of drops and that's it

After taking she's to catch up I can't remember what I was going to say!, anyway I'm going to try and sleep and hope for a better night then last.

GTbaby · 24/01/2013 22:16

Ok little darling of mine. U have had a whopping 42 oz today. Now please please please will u sleep through the night. Please. Confused Ur snotty bunged up mummy needs sleep. n wants to watch a few episodes of dexter as well

horseylady · 24/01/2013 22:21

Glenda - erm just stabling £20 a week. That's just the stable and grass. Add in hay/feed/bedding/shoes/insurance/wormer/vets/lessons/comps/'extras' and I recon they cost me about £2000 minimum a year. Of course all it takes is a kick to a leg which needs an out of hours vet and two weeks worth if bandages and treatment and suddenly youve spent another grand should have claimed and that was three weeks after buying said horse when I wasn't supposed to but I had a spare £2k so did

To be honest for most people the finance isn't an issue, you can keep them cheaper. I'm not sure how!! Most people struggle with the time commitment. If you struggle with a dog do not get a horse. Or keep it on full livery and triple that figure I gave you!! Pm me if you want to chat about it.

ValiumQueen · 24/01/2013 22:47

DS asleep 10.30. Down with barely a wimper. I smell a rat. He is plotting something. His nappy is the size of a small planet as gone up a size and trying a fleece wrap on him. I would be happy to see him next at 2am. He may have other plans.

YW I am encouraged to hear of others still cluster feeding. I dread evenings but he is leaving me alone for short periods now. Thank fuck.

Night night...'til the very next day.
