Welcome katie

Hmm. I have both children sleeping. Best part of day when it happens. Have reheated some curry from the other evening and am eating it slowly. Yum. It's rare one gets to eat a meal at normal speed now.

KatieLily12 · 24/01/2013 12:09

Hi passmethecrisps

She is quite pukey and squeals sometimes midfeed but is not a typical screamer which confuses me. The weight is a worry. GP review in 2 weeks with possibility of starting drugs just in case. What meds are people using and any side effects that I should know?

Started trying to express last night to get back up supply & keep my supply up. Humiliated and heartbroken if I'm honest.

Giving up with putting her down, sling on. Back to square one

StuntNun · 24/01/2013 12:17

Welcome Zcos and Katie.

Detective my DP only gets edited highlights.

Zcos the Spectra pump is BPA-free so there won't be any nasties coming out of the plastic. Nervous I boil the pump for a couple of minutes before using it. If I'm going to express more than once in a day then I put the pump in the fridge between expressing. You don't need to sterilise equipment for breastmilk but my DH has a terrible habit of leaving the used bottles out without washing them so I continue to boil them as I think there's a risk of food poisoning there.

I was wondering whether this would be a good introduction to reusable nappies? It's expensive though, I could get about 200 disposables for that cost!

ValiumQueen · 24/01/2013 12:21

katie what nappies did you buy? Have you tried fleece liners? They help with wetness. Do not be disheartened with expressing. It takes a while. I got a few drips the first time, but ended up being quite the dairy cow (with DD1 and DD2 anyway). Also you need to think milky thoughts, think about your baby and be relaxed. Easier said than done I know.

garden the flower power tots bots are Js favourites (don't tell daddy). It is the Fuzzis size 1 he has grown out of. I can still squeeze him in the LL bamboo size 1 if booster is on the outside. The wraps no longer fit him. I have size 2s and bamboozles so will swap to them soon and sell on my hardly used size 1 s. I will keep a couple for the dolls. I have found the medium Fuzzis which will last him a good long while as they fit my 2yo.

Fed J at 8, down for nap at 10, woke at 12 and feeding. More of that please.

ValiumQueen · 24/01/2013 12:27

stunt no, that would put you off washables for life. Not worth getting just one also the wraps from LL are shite. Better to get a selection of pre-loved, about 8 to be able to give it a good try. I recommend popping over to the nappy forum for a read.

I will bring my stash to the Scottish meet and will be available for questions.

ValiumQueen · 24/01/2013 12:40

pass I have been reading up about the baby cafe, and it certainly seems to be only for bf Sad it seems to be a place where you can get help with feeding, and the last thing I would want is someone criticising my technique as that would push buttons for me. I may be wrong and should really give them a go. Partners are welcome so perhaps we could pretend to be together Wink

GTbaby · 24/01/2013 12:41

Glenda - re fly routine. You will be surprised at how doing little things like shining sinks makes u feel better. The whole idea is u do little jobs which will slowly sort ur house out.
Rather then putting off a big cleaning frenzy. Start small today.

Oh oh. Crying baby alert

gardenpixies32 · 24/01/2013 13:04

I LOVE the flower power ones! J has good taste Grin

I bought a gorgeous Ginger Bread Man Tots Bots of eBay. Cannot wait to put it on them!

I find the LL wraps getting snug on the girls too. I have stated putting them in size 2 wraps.

gardenpixies32 · 24/01/2013 13:05

Welcome Katie. I second what VQ says about the fleece liner. It does make a difference.

GTbaby · 24/01/2013 13:12

Katie Thanks big hugs. This is a great place for support. Vent n get it out of ur system here. I promise someone will have/ is going thro the same thing as u.

DETECTIVE. warning I am about to tell u off! Ur wasting more then a days worth of feed over a week! U need to be more effective with making up feed. Does ur LO have any kind of pattern so u can make right amount of feed?
OR make up extra bottles of smaller feeds. Ie 4 oz n 2 oz. which means u will only ever waste 1oz per feed rather then up to 4oz wasted.
Think u should really consider it as every penny helps!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 24/01/2013 13:13

Welcome katie and zcos

Sophiathesnowfairy · 24/01/2013 13:15

Welcome mrdetecive

ShellyBobbs · 24/01/2013 13:15

Pass I too have just had a funny whiff off Tommy, although I thought it was more of a chicken oxo cube aroma. It is the first thing i've smelt in days due to horrific cold so not trusting the old nostrils yetGrin

ShellyBobbs · 24/01/2013 13:17

I've still not had sex. It must be getting on for 5 months now. Children are the best contraception ever.

gardenpixies32 · 24/01/2013 13:22

Can I join your club Shelly. No sex here either. Coming up for 7 months!

Passmethecrisps · 24/01/2013 13:28

Are you taking notes as you go along shelly? I am very impressed! We also find that a snorty pig in the Moses basket at the bottom of the bed works very well as contraception

katie you have my sympathy. Do you have her basket elevated? Keeping her upright at all times will help massively. P is on infant gaviscon fr every feed and rinitidine and domperidone 3 x daily. Domperidone works well for p as a formula fed baby but can cause discomfort in breast fed babies. yellowwellies BF and has been managing her LO's reflux with meds and a dairy free diet.

DonnaDoon · 24/01/2013 13:31

Welcome newcomers...DD loves being held in front of the mirror she gets so excited to see the (other baby) , think I will start taking her to some group or other because she is awake all afternoon each day and it will do us both good to get out.

Passmethecrisps · 24/01/2013 13:34

shelly that was a reference to the fact that you commented on the crispy scented wee post which was days ago. Not to your lack of sexy time!

VQ I was going to contact them today and check. I do know someone who has been and she was fairly certain that it was not primarily BF anymore. I will let you know

Passmethecrisps · 24/01/2013 13:37

Lovely donna. I also think it's time to get out and about.

By the way, all these posts are happening while P is feeding. As a FF this should not be possible due to the need for boh hands. The reason? P keeps bliddy falling asleep! Then she wakes up and goes 'weeeh!' And I have to drop everything an shove the bottle in her mouth. This can go on a looong time.

What should we have for tea?

Kyzordz · 24/01/2013 14:00

Welcome katie, feel free to vent on here, think we all have at some point!

Thanks for the reassurance vq, I keep deciding he's too small to sleep for so long without food but clearly he can, and he does drink plenty during the day!

LO is having a pretty good day so far, he's been asleep for 45 mins which is a loooong nap for him during the day. He needed it though, he gets increasingly miserable throughout the day when he insists on these 10-20 min naps and nothing else!

kissyfur · 24/01/2013 14:06

Welcome to the newbies

Speaking of reflux, pass, YW and any other ladies with LOs on ranitidine, does yours have a strong minty taste? I'm really struggling to get LO to take any meds at all and I don't think the mint flavour is helping. It's only 0.3ml I have to give 3 times a day but she really hates it!

ValiumQueen · 24/01/2013 14:06

The little lamb liners are shite too. I have cut mine up and use them as washable wipes. The nappies are excellent, but I use them at night as a bit bulky compared to others. I make my own fleece liners.

garden well jell of gingerbread man!

ValiumQueen · 24/01/2013 14:12

I have got my over-locker out. I am stupidly excited. It will probably take a week to thread the thing though.

BigPigLittlePig · 24/01/2013 14:24

I have slept!!! I suspect today is a "no shoes" kind of day. I do need to remove the biscuit crumbs from the bed though.

Kissy when little pig was on ranitidine, it didn't smell of mint - more like pure sugar, which was a good job as she had to have 6mls of the stuff. Suspect a different preparation! We've given up giving anything now, as ranitidine made her even harder to wind, and exacerbated the screaming. We get through a lot of muslins!

Welcome newbies Smile
