The answer to the sleeping though question was a chorus of "no"s but there were a few resounding yesses and a lot more keeping quiet because the rest of us would be well jel.

I am meant to be having my mirena coil fitted onWednesday. I think I'm going to cancel it. I have read nothing but bad stuff about it. Difficulty to loose weight, mood swings, depression, weight gain, more weight gain....ahhhh if idon't loose my baby weight by the time I go back to work I won't fit into any of my work stuff.

This has really depressed me. What am I going to do? I don't want to risk it to be honest, if it sends me crazy. It's not worth it. Sad

ChunkyChicken · 20/01/2013 21:51

Fingers crossed VQ.

Currently doing the bedtime feed for DS, DD in bed. I usually give him a feed at our bed time as he is usually grunting & stirring anyway, unless its less than 2hrs since his last feed. By doing this, he has gone through until 6 or 7 am, so no night feed, so I'm sticking with it for the time being.

Had a lovely walk to DM & DF this evening for dinner. Having the tandem was a god-send in this weather. It's only 10mins or so walk so not far, and was quite refreshing after a big roast followed by Xmas pud! :)

fatima hope LO okay.

MM as garden said, start a routine at a time she normally gets tired, get her used to the going to bed process, then gradually bring the start time forward by 15-30mins every few days. She'll be so used to the sleep cues that she won't realise she's not as tired/its earlier than normal.

Just off to watch Father Brown (y, I know, sad Blush) on iPlayer on my iPad, so I'll say night night all now. Sending all babies sleepy vibes.

pikz · 20/01/2013 21:51

Yep VQ into the cot again. Am more relaxed now he was happy last night. Will still sleep cuddling monitor.

I really need to get this child to sleep more. Garden I would live a child that is asleep at 7!

BigPigLittlePig · 20/01/2013 21:57

garden did you find it took them longer to reliably smile? Ie. 6 weeks corrected rather than 6 weeks actual? Poor dh is v sad he doesn't get smiles Sad I my boobs have had a few.

KissysUnderTheMisteltoe · 20/01/2013 21:58

Still trying to catch up...!

I was thinking of having the Mirena coil too Sophia, don't think I will now. Doesn't sound good at all!

DonnaDoon · 20/01/2013 22:06

Bigpig My DD was nearly 4 was early and didn't smile until she was 13weeks

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 20/01/2013 22:06

Thanks vq I shall dust monitor we have off and give it a go. I'm not sure I'm ready for him to go upstairs without us yet. Is everyone else doing that already??

He's not been feeding well today bar one big feed it's just been snack type feeds. He's asleep on DH so we are going up the stairs now. Will no doubt wake on transfer so will prob give another feed.

My phone is playing up so I can't catch up til the morning :-( I will miss the night chat and no doubt be up most of it due to crappy feeding!

DonnaDoon · 20/01/2013 22:07

*weeks

misslaughalot · 20/01/2013 22:07

Would it be wrong to order this to help keep me awake?!

NotSoNervous · 20/01/2013 22:09

We start DDs bedtime routine between 9 and 9:30 and I know in the nights we don't do it im going to have a bad night. We need a baby monitor though because I don't want to leave her upstairs alone and I'm not always ready to go to bed when she does most of the time I am but it's just one thing after another at the minute, I think I would rather a new breast pump and DP isn't keen because I have a manual one and he says milk comes out so why do I need another because its a PITA to get milk to come out and takes to long

DD is out of newborn sleep suits now and into 0-3 and starting to go into 0-3 vests, she's 13w2d bless her

I would phone to fatima just for piece of mind

gardenpixies32 · 20/01/2013 22:11

Bigpig, yes, they were nowhere near smiling at 6 weeks. Both of them first smiled at 11 weeks and even then it was the odd smile. They started smiling numerous times a day around 14 weeks which would make them 8 weeks corrected age.

Have also had other twin mums with prem babies tell me recently that BLW may not work for us initially as their motor skills will be lacking. Their hunger may be greater than their ability to feed themselves. I hope not as I really want to do BLW.

NotSoNervous · 20/01/2013 22:11

izzy I'm not doing that yet and doubt I will for a while, I'm just too much of a worrier Tough I'm sure running up and down every 5min will help with weight loss!

Angry misslaugh there should be a law preventing posts advert ink crime eggs, I love them but am cutting out chocolate Sad

TheDetective · 20/01/2013 22:16

I bought the bed time earlier by getting him up earlier. Didn't do anything else. He seems ready for bed around 9 instead of 11-12 now.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 20/01/2013 22:25

nervous your wee baby must be so tiny! Mines a chunk. He is filling 3-6month things at not even 12weeks. HV coming tomorrow so will be weighed then but I reckon 18lbs!!

DH did.transfer and we have a sleeping baby so I'm heading for sleep too now :-) best bit of the day!

horseylady · 20/01/2013 22:27

You lot talk sooooo much.

My shoulder muscle has gone into spasm making me totally useless. I want to take codeine but daren't so am taking my usual concoction minus codeine and it's not touching the pain.

Hoping the Physio calls me back tomorrow.....

CandyPop · 20/01/2013 22:48

Ah liking the word poonami! We had our first major one yesterday . I was feeding her and suddenly heard trickling sound..... Wee/poo just leaked from her left leg onto floor?! Opened nappy and it was like a mustard jar explosion. All over her belly and down her leg.....

Seems like a few people have issues with daytime naps. My LO will only nap on me during the day. If I try put her down she wakes within 5 mins. I end up carrying her most of the time during the day. Am I forming a bad habit ?! She's 10 weeks now......

Right better catch some sleep before she wakes up.... Last night she decided that 3am was party o clock and was wide awake smiling and cooing Hmm

TheDetective · 20/01/2013 23:22

Okay... this evening went slightly better. Bedtime routine started with a bath at 9, feed started 9.50 (he likes a long leisurely bath!!) took a while, but finally got him down in the basket in our room at 10.30, after 10 minutes of non settling, and attempts at white noise/swinging basket, I just gave him the last ounce of the bottle, while he lay in the basket Blush. Anyway, it knocked him out. By 11, he was settled. Now downstairs. Praying for an hour to watch some tv, then bed ourselves! Fingers crossed he stays asleep when we come up, and that he sleeps like last night Grin.

kirrinIsland · 21/01/2013 00:23

candy N is also 10 weeks and also only naps on me during the day. She once did 45 mins in the pram (stationary) but mostly lasts 5-10 mins before waking up. She will lay next to me on the sofa, but only if she has my constant attention! I'm not worrying about it yet, but clearly it is something I will have to tackle soon. Not sure how though?

Sophia I have an appointment to get the mirena fitted too. I am also in 2 minds about it. People seem to either love it or hate it. Thing is, I really don't know what else would work for me.

N is teasing me again this evening. She stays asleep on me just long enough for me to think it will be ok to do a transfer, and then she wakes up. Her bedtime, (the time she will settle in her Moses basket) seems to be getting later and later not earlier. And I thought she might go down quicker tonight considering her longest nap today was 20 minutes.

GTbaby · 21/01/2013 03:02

Wow it's taken me an hour to catch up n noone has posted in that time?

I was about last night. Put an episode of the wire on iPad as previous 2 times I've attempted to watch bit I've dialled asleep. But sound didn't work :( so steamed two shows off 4oD. But didn't send me to sleep. Then came to find MN was down Confused

So started browsing random sites. By time it was 3.30 I was knocking out.

Purple n kry I was gona say somthing to u. N I can't remember what. I just kept saying ur names in my head so I wouldn't forget! It's driving me crazy so will go bk n read ur posts.

GTbaby · 21/01/2013 03:06

Kyz. RE weaning. I read the MN guide to weaning on the website. Very informative. With a few tips on "what u can say to ur mum/advice givers"
Any first timers i would recommend reading it as lots of advice n basic info!

GTbaby · 21/01/2013 03:13

Oh yes. Purple I'm finding more that the occasions "LO just wants mum" happening more often.
As great as this is spesh when it happens with mil for my confidence lol. I'm worried its because he spend to much time with me. N I don't want him needing just me all the time.

Actually thinking about it, this is not the same thing as u purple?

GTbaby · 21/01/2013 03:16

Argh look at time.

Pissed at H today. Numerous reasons. Wanted to slag him off n get it out my system. But my eyes r doing that overly tiered can't focus thing so time to put my phone down.

Night night

StuntNun · 21/01/2013 04:22

It is quiet on here tonight. Us everyone asleep or just too tired to post? DH did that thing where I put J down in his cot post-feed and he brings him to me 15 minutes later saying he wants a feed. No he was settling back down to sleep! In DH's head crying = wants food and there is no other explanation. It's not good for my sleep though. Hmm

I wonder if the school will be closed tomorrow? DH has decided to take the day off rather than risk driving to work tomorrow. Monday is the day I try to restore some order to the house after they've wrecked it over the weekend so who knows what state it will be in by Tuesday.

My laptop has bitten the dust after five years of loyal service. I'm so clueless about computers now, I haven't kept up on the latest tech at all. The best 'bang for my buck' I can find is one at PC World but it's a rather unpleasant pink colour. Can I live with a pink laptop for the next five years? I'm a bit worried about dipping into my savings but I think we really need it between the four of us. It's always something expensive in January isn't it?

rowingdowntheriver · 21/01/2013 04:35

Yet another shocker of a night here. DS goes down well at 8 or 9 but for the last week or so, since DH dropping the dream feed, wakes up at 11 or 12 to feed. Every feed lasts at least 1 1/2 hours as he's got a blocked nose. He wakes up 1 1/2 hours after being put down again.

So tonight I've had 2/12 hours sleep and no sign of getting much more before DS2 decides to wake up at 6.30 / 7.00 (he's got a cold too) :(

stuntnun,I feel your pain re the january spending. So far our car has broken down, had to join the AA and now our (brand new) shower is broken.

PurplePidjin · 21/01/2013 04:48

I'm having the implant on Wednesday would that be an option instead of the coil for anyone? I'm a bit squeamish about a coil, think it's the thought of the strings. I don't like tampons either Blush

Calpol sorted the grottiness earlier, and an extra layer of clothes has given us 7 hours of sleep! (6 1/2 for me) i had to pump due to Jordan boobs and got 2oz in 5 mins off each side with a manual pump R is now feeding, hope he goes back down Hmm
