No DTD here either. I still have an unhealed patch where the stitches broke down which is incredibly stingy. 6 week check on Friday - I'm going to force them to have a look at it. I've already had antibiotics twice and they haven't sorted it. Plus it feels like everything's falling out of my fanjo if I cough, jump, etc. Feels like I'm months away from any action!!

Sorry to all those with reflux/'colic' issues. Sounds horrendous! In terms of sleep we never have more than a 3 hour stretch at night - usually it's 2 hours, pretty much to the minute. Ewan helps getting DS back to sleep if he's already sleepyish. BTW, with Ewan, have they not got it a little bit wrong with the womb noise, ie they've included the baby's heartbeat as well as the mother's? Wouldn't the baby just hear the mother's heartbeat? Anyway! We like the rain setting best!

Exciting on your move to Fife YW. Anywhere near Edinburgh?! (shamelessly trying to recruit new researchers for the next edition of the book - already have my eye on MM1. Sorry guys, no cash involved but you'd get a copy of the book!).

evil ask at the surgery for an infant urine sample collecting pouch. The HV should have a stock. They are little bags that you stick over the bits (easier with a boy!). You could always carefully affix a plastic bag with micropore tape, but the proper thing is easier. You just do the nappy up and leave it. The glue is pretty strong so be prepared for tears when you take it off.

Passmethecrisps · 08/01/2013 18:58

When p was first in hospital they wanted a urine sample. I had to sit with a hysterical p hovered over a tin pot. It took hours as the whole reason we were there was she was refusing food! It was literally 2 hours of that

MissMummy1 · 08/01/2013 19:00

Bollocks. DHs relief skipper is stuck in traffic. At least an hour delay. The one night I'm organised enough to have dinner ready for him coming home....

Georgee am I right in thinking this involves rating/slating places on child friendliness? If so count me in! Smile

ValiumQueen · 08/01/2013 19:05

georgee I thought that about Ewan, but I think they would hear their own heartbeat. When you are in the bath you hear your own heartbeat so that would apply in utero I would think?

ValiumQueen · 08/01/2013 19:08

I also have dangled a small one over a foil pot. Stupid people on the children's ward. You would think they would know about the bags. I have also had to look through a cupboard in my surgery for a HV who had never heard of them. It was a DR at OOH who told me about them, indeed produced one out of his bag. I could have kissed him!

blonderthanred · 08/01/2013 19:08

GP urine sample - nice sticky plastic bag as per VQ's description.

Paeds urine sample - sitting L on a plastic pot for an hr in a busy waiting room while holding his willy down and bf and trying not to let him breathe in germs from all the sicky kids .

Sticky plastic bag 100x better - ouchy removal notwithstanding.

georgee · 08/01/2013 19:10

MM yes, sorta! If places aren't child friendly we just don't include, or we might include smallish things to bear in mind when visiting (ie it's generally great for kids but the nappy changing facilities are a bit cramped) ... would love to slate (that'd be a lot more fun) but it's not the philosophy of the book! All kicks off again in April, I'll be in touch Wink.

StuntNun · 08/01/2013 19:10

Fatima I plan to bf as long as J wants it. DS1 and 2 self-weaned at 8 and 9 months. But bfing an older baby is completely different, they feed quickly, not as often and can sit up on your lap in the right position so it's all easy peasy.

VQ ah yes good point! ...

ValiumQueen · 08/01/2013 19:13

Be careful georgee !

CandyPop · 08/01/2013 20:05

I wonder has anyone ever been successful in getting urine sample from peeing in a pot ?!

I have been known to put my head underwater in the evening whilst having a bath whilst dh is looking after LO to drown out (haha pun unintended) the crying Blush

GTbaby · 08/01/2013 20:05

On my bed with LO sleeping on me. Can't believe his feet are already down to my thigh. He is gona be like me ( 5'8") n DH (6'3") very tall!

Enjoying my cuddle time today. As dinner is ready. Had a few bits for LO's party on Sunday which r done. N DH won't b home till 10.30.

Off to research long haul flight tips as we go to India in 8 ish weeks! Really wish I was BFing as would make the journey SO much easier! Damn u flat nipples!

Evilwater · 08/01/2013 20:20

I can't believe it, DP is reading to N. It's amazing what gripe water can do, I really want to thank them and who ever made the dummies.

gardenpixies32 · 08/01/2013 20:24

Evil did the doctor prescribe any Colief for your DS? We get Colief on prescription (10 bottles at a time) as they are teeny tiny and cost 12 quid per bottle!

It works for the girls.

glendathegoodwitch · 08/01/2013 20:25

Evening all

Dottie has been asleep all day and won't let me put her down - I do wake her every 4 hours and she has a little feed and falls asleep again - is this ok? I wouldn't let her be like this for longer than 24 hours as that is what I gather most babies are doing post jabs??

DTD dots is 8 weeks and we've managed 3 times since 8 weeks -am v impressed with the person who managed it twice in one day lol I've not done it twice in one day for at least a decade--

petite my choccie lab is a mud wallower - so much so that I've had to change my dog walker today as she comes back filthy and no longer have the time to clean up after her and then brush her - I don't mind her getting wet it's the dusty dirt that comes off her for days after - left today's mess for dh to clear up as me and dd x2 snuggled in bed watching up - still makes me cry lol

YellowWellies · 08/01/2013 20:42

Georgee I'd be up for that!

MM I was going to get the airport bus and a taxi from Inverkeithing station - no need to collect me (just in case flight is late / J has a meltdown somewhere en route / you have any morning issues!) - but come over and see us at my sisters. I'll text you when I get there - can't wait to meet Tilly!

Evilwater · 08/01/2013 20:44

No garden. Nothing.

I'm to go to one of the pharmacies in town, and see if there is a something homophathic.

I've DTD and I'm using lube too.

Anyone heard from detecive?
Evil

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 08/01/2013 21:00

We dtd on Monday as it was DH's birthday! It was exactly 5 weeks since we last did it, which was the night I went into labour. I had a c section though so wasn't scared about things hurting. I'm going to the doctors tomorrow to sort out contraception. Not sure what to go for, mini pill, injection or implant. Anyone got any advice?

horseylady · 08/01/2013 21:18

Glenda - yes ds was like that. Just slept. Ate a but then slept. He then got bronchitis so I can't say when it stopped. I gave him Calpol when he started with a fever!

Evil - glad things are looking better. Ds seems to wee constantly.

I have the mother of all Headaches :( it's my birthday tomorrow and I feel like shit.

ValiumQueen · 08/01/2013 21:23

horsey hope headache goes, and happy birthday x

evil detective is busy posting pics on FB so she is fine!

ValiumQueen · 08/01/2013 21:26

Bedtime went fine for the girls. It seems DD2 has reached the magical age where bribery works. Thank goodness. DS obliged by bouncing in his chair whilst watching spongebob. Just yowled towards the end of the very short story. DH coming home to peace and tranquility. Get me!

MissMummy1 · 08/01/2013 21:35

No worries yw - let me know if you change your mind! Smile Please do let me know when you're at M's and I'll pop over. Very much looking forward to a baby meet!

I'm royally pissed off with him indoors. After being late home (albeit not strictly his fault) he accused me of poisoning him by grating a bowl of mature cheese for our fajitas. Angry Prick. He's been eating mature cheddar in everything I cook with cheese and hasn't had a migraine for at least a year.Hmm

pikz · 08/01/2013 21:44

VQ you win the uber mummy prize!

Happy birthday horsey.

I have left DP and LO in his Moses basket downstairs. Now can't sleep grrr. Was hoping for a hour ish before he wakes.

horseylady · 08/01/2013 21:45

Oh Glenda my two curlies are also mud lovers. Their wager dogs though. Mud seems to stick in their webbed feet!! And curly coats!! Lovely girls though!!

Vq - gold stars for you :)

Mm - he's male.
