garden I would be sectioned within an hour of looking after that many kids - you're a legend!

horsey poor wee mite :( hope he's perking up today sending lots of love and snot banishing thoughts your way.

I'm stuck on the sofa with a growth spurt gremlin, fruit really isn't cutting the BFing hunger after another 3hr feed :(

horseylady · 06/01/2013 12:27

He's quite happy, obviously hungry!! But Then screams after 2-3oz. But at some feeds doesn't. Then just coughs lots :( going to try steam!

gardenpixies32 · 06/01/2013 12:28

DTs are not big feeders or growers either. They are only now, at 14 weeks, drinking 5oz bottles, sometimes only 4oz. About 23-25oz per day. They were 6lbs at birth (34 weeks) and now only weigh about 10lbs10. They are slow in gaining weight but pediatrician says they are in the correct range of oz per day and they don't seem unhealthy to me. Most of their clothes are 0-3 months with a few up to one month bits and pieces.

I am wowed with Horsey's little one managing 8oz in one feed!
Think my girls are going to be long and thin like their dad better than short and fat arsed like their mum

horseylady · 06/01/2013 12:34

Garden - normal is 6/7 but for a week or so was regularly eating 8oz at 10.30 ish in the morning. Maybe it was a growth spurt!!

gardenpixies32 · 06/01/2013 12:39

Horsey I worded that badly. Pediatrician said they are in the right range for oz per day, although at the bottom of the range. E must be at the top. He must be a big boy!

glendathegoodwitch · 06/01/2013 12:48

vq sorry for repeating myself lol

Passmethecrisps · 06/01/2013 12:53

P takes approx 22oz per day. We offer her 6oz first thing in the morning and last thing at night and 5oz for other feeds. More often than not she will take between 3 and 4 oz. she will tend to take 5oz from a bottle made up to 6oz and 4oz from 5. Occassionally she will take a whole bottle but not often.

Actually, anyone using Tomme Tippee vari-flow teats? We have 2 of them and I hate them. The teats seem too big for P's wee mouth and she manages somehow to push the teat sideways in her mouth. She does this then gets upset as she is not getting enough. We should just stick to the size 2s really.

gardenpixies32 · 06/01/2013 12:57

Pass how old is your LO? We use Avent bottles. I bought the 3-6 month teats last week and the flow is much better. It isn't taking an age to get them to drink 5oz now. I like Avent ones, didn't have a problem with them and started the girls on bottles when they were 4 weeks old.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 06/01/2013 13:17

Hope you are doing ok pr

Sounds like you have a household of germs horsey.

Potty training begins this afternoon am terrified I will cock it up.

horseylady · 06/01/2013 13:19

10 weeks, 12lb following 25th centile, born on 50th. He's incredibly active!! Height wise he's above 50th centile so like dh and me tall and skinny!! He has about 32oz a day usually. Probably having 26 now?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 06/01/2013 13:21

We do routine am afraid. Hard work in the beginning to get it established but I think it pays off in the end. Suits us, me and DH are quite routiney so it's our way.

We are using the new Avent bottles, I had some of the old ones and bought a couple of the new ones. He seemed slightly less windy after using the new style so I replaced them all. Have just moved to teat no 2. I tried to move I'm about three weeks ago but it seemed like he was drowning so I changed back to 1. Then he started dropping off in his milk so I tried again and it worked a treat.

nillynoon · 06/01/2013 13:24

No routine either here, but usually in bed for 10.30, if not a bit earlier. Past few nights we have had 4 hour stretches with feeds in between (bf), and one or two near 5 hours stretches which is great after 2 weeks of 2-3 hour wake ups.

kirrin I've had mastitis this wk, after a plugged duct a few wks back & got another plugged duct in the other boob whilst trying to treat the mastitis. I have some tips that have really worked, if you want to try;

  1. go back to basics on latching baby on - a proper latch will drain the breast properly
  2. a disposable nappy filled with as hot as you can get it hot water will act as a really good hot compress on your boob as you feed
  3. massage/combing the boob during a feed & during a bath/shower really helps
  4. pumping after a feed especially if baby only has a short one & you were particularly full (unfortunately, I've had to pump & dump as I don't want to freeze it with the chance of traces of antibiotics in it, & suddenly LO gets the runs!)

Hth, sure you're doing it all anyway but I didn't have this prob with DD perhaps because she wasn't a greedy chops like DS & create an oversupply issue and have had to learn the tricks this time!

TheDetective · 06/01/2013 13:49

I've had enough. Told DP to leave. He has. Didn't even go and see his own child. Just packed and went. After telling me to piss off when I told him how he made me feel since Oscar has been born.

He clearly doesn't give a shit about his own child. Well fuck him. I don't need anyone like that. And Oscar certainly doesn't.

YellowWellies · 06/01/2013 13:50

Oh gawd detective are you ok hon? :( sending lots of love to you. We're all here for you x

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 06/01/2013 13:50

Sorry, not kirrin should have been directed at candy!!!

donna I like the caramel-sweet smell of a bm poo nappy!! Blush It's much, much nicer than 'normal' poo Grin

StuntNun · 06/01/2013 13:52

Detective. Get yourself a cup of tea and try and relax after going through that. If you want to get anything off your chest then please do as I'm sure you're stressed out.

I'm going to do all the shit he was supposed to be doing this morning. But sitting on the computer was clearly more important.

My dad arrives at 4. I need to Hoover, go the tip and get food. At least it will keep me busy.

:(

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 06/01/2013 13:54

Oh shit detective. I've told DH to leave several times in the latest rows but he hasn't because he's a stubborn bastard he's stuck around to finish the row!! Perhaps its just he thought its what you wanted & wants to give you both breathing space. It's a really really tough time a few wks after baby. DH & I had proper physical fights after DD (not ideal obviously & v v rare but we both have tempers...) but we're still rubbing each other up the wrong way along together. Hugs.

MissMummy1 · 06/01/2013 14:31

Massive hugs detective Sad . It seems having a baby really does test even the strongest of relationships. DP and I have had some mega rows over the past few weeks and if it weren't for the fact he is now back at sea I don't know where we would be. I love him dearly but neither of us cope well without sleep and always end up taking it out on each other... I've said it before (and hate myself for thinking this way) but our relationship only works because we arent together all the time.Blush

I'm rambling. Your situation is obviously a heck of a lot more serious as a few home truths thrown my dps way is enough to make him realise he is being a selfish bastard back down. As has been said before, is it possible your OH is giving you space and avoiding an argument? Or is he as big a knob as he sounds after telling you to piss off?Angry Either way do feel free to vent on here xxx

Oh and (I think it's you whose dad is a bit of an arse?) don't bother stressing getting ready for your dad. He's family so should be there to help you, and if he's not then forget wasting your energy on him!

Tea and chocolate and gin is what you need this afternoon!

glendathegoodwitch · 06/01/2013 14:35

Omg detective hope you're ok

Sophiathesnowfairy · 06/01/2013 14:44
