Sleeping!! He fed brilliantly at 12 and 3 then slept. Woke hysteical at 6, hardly ate, then slept about 8 and is still asleep. Though his little eyes are opening!!

Am putting the cot to more of an angle as he's not coughed much today while upright. Hopefully he'll eat well before bed and overnight again.

Odd thing is, apart from the cough and reduced appetite he's fine!! Yes he's sleeping slightly more but he's quite happy?

If I have what he's got then I feel for him. It's horrid. I don't feel like eating either :(

blonderthanred · 05/01/2013 21:53

Our bedtime is about half nine as well, before that he will snooze on me but quite lightly so not ready for bed.

VQ good luck with the bottle, is your DH giving it or are you? L has only taken bottle from DH so far - we are giving ebm top ups. But he took it very well aside from a few splutters, 4 days now and he is still more than happy to bf.

This may sound strange but did I read on here or somewhere else about running a finger from the forehead down the nose to get them to close their eyes? It doesn't work every time but several times it has, sometimes with almost instant effect. Worth a try anyway.

daisychain76 · 05/01/2013 22:14

Yw we have the mammas and pappas sola too ~ my one small gripe is l don?t think the shopping basket on the bottom is too small (or may be l buy too much food!)

Evil no advice l?m afraid, but lots of sympathy ~ ds1 used to be really hard work and we used to spend hourss driving round to get him to sleep. It does pass though.

Tits on routine l find it is easier on school days. l get h up about half an hour before other dcs and feed and dress him. Then he watches on bed while dcs get ready round him and sits in his bouncy chair when we have breakfast. That means he drops off for a morning nap on the school run or just after. Rest of the day is still hit and miss though.

Got my 1st day in charge of my Church?s Sunday morning youth group tomorrow. Feeling quite scared...!

DonnaDoon · 05/01/2013 22:25

daisygood luck you're brave!

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 05/01/2013 22:37

I can't believe you all have bedtimes for your babies...we still struggle and have no routine at all and only take J to bed when we go up!

All advice welcome!

He is asleep now but has been feeding loads since his bath. We don't have a routine at all just feed when he wants and sleep when he wants!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/01/2013 22:41

Good luck tomorrow daisy

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 05/01/2013 22:45

We've only just started putting DS to bed before us izzy because he seemed to be feeding & sleeping for a long time at roughly the same time each night.

Tonight however, he is feeding constantly and fussing. Typical growth spurt behaviour...Hmm

DonnaDoon · 05/01/2013 23:00

izzywe have no routine either dd just feeds and sleeps as and when it suits her and she comes to bed when we do...so your not on your own all babbas are different

KissysUnderTheMisteltoe · 05/01/2013 23:03

Same with our LO Izzy - you're definitely not alone Smile

PetiteRaleuse · 05/01/2013 23:08

Horsey apart from coughing and eating less LO is also apparently ok apart from during her physio when she screams and sounds like she is drowning. Today she cried a lot but that was due to wind judging by the smells and not to do with the bronchiolitis.

StuntNun · 05/01/2013 23:22

No routine here either Izzy. J is fed and sleeps when he wants so we're totally baby-led and on demand. He'll have to adjust a bit from Monday when everyone's back to work and school but I'll stick with on demand as much as possible. I wait for them to find their own pattern then work with that.

J had his first swim today and loved it. The pool was a little bit cold bit he didn't shiver or turn blue so we stayed in for ages.

Hello all. I was being a little OTT mum today. LO is ok. Temp is a tiny bit high. Chest clear. Has a little cough. N is snotty. Is it wrong to say its a cute cough Blush lol. Gota use saline drops to clear snot. And calpol.

I love it when LO is all curled up asleep in bed. When I pick him up he stays in his ball. It's so cute.

DonnaDoon · 05/01/2013 23:30

Aww stunt I would love to take dd swimming because she loves the bath so much but I think she probably would turn blue lol like me she hates being cold I'm still swaddling her in blankets.

DonnaDoon · 05/01/2013 23:33

I know what you mean by the cute ball lol...does anyone else love the smell of a full milky nappy...or am I proper weird?

GTbaby · 05/01/2013 23:42

I don't see the appeal of the nappy. But my cousin said she loved it. We all laughed at her. But now I know two of u like it, it can't be weird.

FreddieMercurysBolero · 05/01/2013 23:47

Evil - What are you doing differently at bedtime that you're not doing during the day? maybe try to leave starting a bedtime routine until he's a bit older, 5 or 6 months maybe?

With our evening meal, I just prep it during the day if I can and DH sticks it on when we are ready to eat. So today was a good day and I had stew slow cooking in the oven and potatoes ready to go on in the saucepan. Then we will eat when it's ready, usually on the couch, if L is feeding I just eat out of a bowl while feeding, sometimes he will sit in his bouncer for 10 mins while i wolf it down!

I just have L sleeping downstairs in his pram until I'm going to bed, then I bring him up with me and feed him to sleep. He is only 6weeks though.

Do you think it might be reflux? Try propping up his cot legs with some big books, that worked for us with DS1. And if you think it's reflux, do take him to the docs to try get some meds, they are a lifesaver.

Perhaps it's a growth spurt? Try adding an extra ounce or two to feeds to see if he'll take it, he might just be hungry?

Good luck with the bottle VQ _ I'm planning to trry this week too. Have to dig out the steriliser though...ugh.

Blonder _ I use the rubbing the pridge of the nose thing too, I thought it was the BEST THING EVER when I discovered it with DS1.

PR- Hope you're ok and DDs continue to get better. DH and I had a rough patch when DS1 was little and we got through it, we have no support here really either and it's tough.

Stunt _ i';m the same, no routine whatsoever and I'm a lot more relaxed for it, although lately he seems to sleep from around 8-11 in the evening, which is nice:)

Really good day today - two good naps and lots of playtime with DS1, he's so funny and cute at the moment:)

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 06/01/2013 00:17

Glad to hear I'm not the only one then! I was worried.

Were feeding just now and hoping to go to bed soon. I'm upstairs at least now.

GTbaby · 06/01/2013 03:55

Exhausted. Haven't had a 4am feed in ages Hmm really hope it's due to LO feeling poorly n not regression.
DH is on night shift. I'm putti g LO I. My bed. I can't n getting up every few minutes to pick her up.
DH won't b happy!

rowingdowntheriver · 06/01/2013 04:07

It's been ages since I've been on here as I've been too tired during night feeds to mumsnet!

gt, 4am is sleep regression for you?! My LO has recently started waking at 4 (not tonight though unfortunately) and it is a massive improvement on when he had been waking so I'm generally pleased about it! If he wakes at 4 it tends to mean that the ext wake up isn't until 6.30 or 7.00 which given I get up at 7.00 or 7.30 anyway with DS1 isn't really a night feed for me.

Am going to try catching up on the rest of the thread now.

We have no routine either. N comes up to bed when I do but has so far refused to go down her Moses basket before about midnight. I might try bringing her up a bit earlier and sitting in the dark for a while to see if i can "reset" her a bit, but I'm a bit worried that she'll then start waking earlier? At the moment she does 12-5, 6-8ish - which isn't too bad really.

pass I was going to ask on here about something N did today that I've not seen before, and then saw your description of P! Twice, N was laying on her back when she suddenly went bright red, looked really shocked and started proper crying / screaming. Only lasted for a few seconds after i picked her up though. Is this reflux?? Or just the odd bout of baby heartburn? She's been fine at night and after feeds etc. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it.

CandyPop · 06/01/2013 05:48

Hmm LO is still getting fed during the night .... So not much different from the day, every 3-4 hrs (although during day she might have a couple feeds every 2 1/2hrs. She's 8 weeks old - should she be going longer at night now?! She's being ebf does that make a difference ?

Ahhhh yesterday I started to have signs of mastitis Again! Had it when she was 5 weeks old. Last time round I left it a few days before seeing the doc for antibiotics. However this time round I am more wise and a friend who also has a newborn and currently on a course of antibiotics for it has given some of her pills to me to last me till Monday before I get some from docs . It's a bit naughty with self diagnoses but I have a temperature and feels exactly the same as last time albeit a different area of the breast ! Just don't think I can stand the hot and cold sweats and the pain again so wanted to treat it ASAP! It does mean come Monday if my symptoms get better I will have to 'fake' them as I need to get the antibiotics to finish course as well as give back to my friend so she can finish her course ! Who would have thought motherhood would have led to drug dealing too! :D

Why am I not sleeping?! LO woke for feed and then straight back to sleep over 1/2 hr ago! Ok better go catch more sleep :)

GTbaby · 06/01/2013 07:48

Sry folks complaining that LO is waking at 4 may have been insensitive.
He is one of the oldest on the thread tho. Being a October baby is 12 weeks old. At 8 weeks he was making it till 4am after a 11pm feed.
At 9 weeks all of a sudden started going from 11 to 8. Last few days its gone to 6 am n today 4 am. Hmm
