vq twice you have made me laugh. Sitting on your lunch much be an age thing

shelly unfortunately I'm too nice to do something like that. Plus not sure what ds would have eaten then.

No idea about pox!! Sorry!!

I've just done my daily work and have finally found a treat the pup will come back for. It won't work tomorrow but for most of the walk I didnt look like a mad woman with one lovely dog and one wild dog!! I almost enjoyed it today!!

gardenpixies32 · 18/12/2012 14:16

Kissy I had exactly the same worry. DTs spent the day with a 15 month old who was covered in the pox the next day. One week later, they are poxless, thankfully. I hope it stays away.

Doctor said nothing can be done and just to keep an eye on them. If they are not feeding properly or get a temperature then to take them in to see the doctor. Fingers crossed your LO doesnt get the dreaded pox.

pikz · 18/12/2012 14:19

Garden it must be good hipscan day as ours went well too!

Luc finally asleep having been up since 6...he was sooo tired. I should be sleeping but instead am rushing about tidying up. Must learn to sleep.

ShellyBobbs · 18/12/2012 14:24

Horsey That's the difference between you and me. I would have walked out AND THEN gone 'doh, now what do I feed him'!

Kissy I might be wrong, but think that they are only infectious 2 weeks before the spots come out, it certainly is some time before the spots though so yours hopefully will be OK.

Wahoo, just had 15 mins whilst Tommy was asleep, hoovered up and posted on her, now back to feeding, then the school run, then taking the kids to the opticians, then shopping, then making tea, then washing up............. Ah the daily grind Xmas Grin

ShellyBobbs · 18/12/2012 14:24

*didn't just post on her, I posted on here too :)

horseylady · 18/12/2012 15:00

Daft question alert. Is cradle cap like bad dandruff? What do you do with it?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/12/2012 15:03

Definately agree with stunt I on,y gave Calpol after the third lot and then I think it was only DD1 that needed it.

Extra hearing test tomorrow. Olly's cold has cleared up so here's hoping it's all ok.

YellowWellies · 18/12/2012 15:04

So I'm starting to wonder if J might have silent reflux (inconsolable cries of pain, frustration when feeding because he wants to but it hurts, best sleep when upright, very hiccupy, weird choking / gagging noises after a feed when he sleeps, it sounds like he is swallowing something back down) caused by cows milk intolerance - as every cousin's child on my side has it, my twin sisters two have it, and DH's niece has it.

Shit arse bollocks.

Was hoping that I'd be the one BFer in our family that didn't have to give up dairy. Guess I'll be losing the baby weight quicker than planned if i have to give up dairy (kitkats!!!! and my cuppa one of my few 'treats' left) :(.

Something to mention to the GP tomorrow who no doubt will be totally sceptical..... arse. If this growth spurt doesn't disappear in 2 days it'll have been a fortnight which is unlikely.... and my instinct tells me that he is in real pain.

I can't wait for the formula nazi PIL to arrive on Friday, who, when they see him fussing will no doubt tell me he's hungry and to stick him on a bottle rather than persevering with this dirty breastfeeding. Next they will tell me to let him cry it out as they did that to my DH at 3 days old and it's done him no harm. Xmas Angry

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/12/2012 15:12

Went, shamedly to Boots for the morning after pill. Xmas Blush

Cradle cap looks like scales horsey

Ha ha VQ good one. Typical it had to be cauliflower cheese would never happen with a plain old cheese sandwich!

GTbaby · 18/12/2012 15:54

Dh. I dip dyed last week :)

Stunt. WeljelEnvy at weight loss Hmm

Managed to fall asleep at 8.30am. Then woke at 11 to sort LO out.
OH is still asleep from night shift. N pil r out. I said good morning to mil. N I got blanked. Shock ( is this a shocked face? I'm confused with new emoticon)

Exhausted. But sis came over n had a good bitch. N finished Xmas cards ( last day for posting folks)

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 18/12/2012 16:04

This motherhood lark is one long guilt trip ain't it?

If I'm not screaming at my Pfb & wishing she'd wipe the smug smile off her face before the urge to slap it off becomes too much Xmas Blush, I'm realising how my not-so-p sb is being ignored!! At 1 mth, we did hand & foot prints of DD, filled in her baby book etc etc. I barely even noticed DS was 1 month...Xmas Blush I have seen an ink-less print kit, so might order 1 & do the hand & foot prints at 2ish months, & maybe do a DD & DS hand print side by side too. I'm hoping that its the time of year+newborn, rather than just because DS is #2...

I don't know whether to start doing a 'bedtime' for A. He sleeps such a lot, its not really been an issue, but now I realise he's 6wks on Sun & maybe its time to start... Although I don't think we did that until about 9+wks with DD, when she had to go into her cotbed & therefore own room.

GTbaby · 18/12/2012 16:08

Hugs chunky.
We still haven't filled in baby book. N LO is 1st, so I'm thinking its time of year rather then it being ur 2nd.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 18/12/2012 16:24

Quick q; does reflux make the milk vom smell like "proper" vom? If they posset, doesn't it just smell like off milk? DS's vom sometimes smells really yuck...

YW Xmas Sad regarding silent reflux esp if its milk intolerance (does sound quite likely & seems like the symptoms are there).

YellowWellies · 18/12/2012 16:32

Found these BFing haiku (I know, I know!) kellymom.com/blog-post/breastfeeding-haiku/ really cheered me up. Spoke to la leche and well it might just be a loooong growth spurt due to the thrush. Might... Am going to talk to doc then prob give up dairy tomo. Is it wrong to polish off the haagen daz first?

YellowWellies · 18/12/2012 16:34

Awww snuck - just stroked DS's wrist and told him he's better than chocolate and he smiled at me. Melt.....

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/12/2012 17:05

Cool gt how does it look?

sophia oops! Although admittedly dh and I got carried away the other day because we finally had a spare 5 mins without the kids around but we didnt use contraception Confused I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the bf will stop anything.

Passmethecrisps · 18/12/2012 17:09

Hallo! Family crisps are home!

I have never been so chuffed to see my shit-tip of a house.

Wee P is very much better and is now taking up to 55 ml per feed. Hard to think that she was necking 120 ml of breast milk at 10 days old. She is back to being hungry and has relaxed time again.

We are back at the hospital on Friday for a weigh-in and general check up but generally that's us now. The hospital staff were smashing - especially considering what I have heard about people struggling to get diagnosis and treatment for silent reflux. We could not have been taken more seriously by anyone who saw us.

DH had a good night with her despite a slightly patronising nurse who took P off him to burp her 'properly' . I had to face up to being very precious and thinking that only I could settle her. I did show him how to do the cuddle which gets her off to sleep (he is still a bit keen to whack her back to bed fully awake) and the emergency shoosh-rock which can settle her when she is very upset. He does this funny thing where he holds her and sort of examines her face while asking her what's the matter. I admire his ability to keep chilled actually - it doesn't settle her but he certainly stays calmer than me!

When we left the hospital the nurses gave us a Christmas pressie for P!

Anyway, hopefuly now I can properely keep up with the chat.

YW if J does have silent reflux linked to dairy intolerance it is surely massive griss (spelling?) to your breast-feeding mill. I don't like dairy products and very rarely eat anything dairy so p was not exposed through my breast milk hence no reaction. It was formula which caused the problem. Had she been able to feed the chances are she would have had either no reaction or a very mild one.

Passmethecrisps · 18/12/2012 17:11

chunky that was one of the signs for us. Stinking adult smelling vom and breath.

GTbaby · 18/12/2012 17:18

Ok someone slap me. I know what I'm doing is stupid.
I'm looking at breast feeding advice. At 9 weeks on. Not a drop of milk in 4 weeks. What on earth am I doing Preparing for nxt time. LO is only 9 weeks n I'm wasting time researching for nxt time. Ok time to stop. N investigate more useful stuff. Like teething n weening.

Passmethecrisps · 18/12/2012 17:22
Passmethecrisps · 18/12/2012 17:23

What's happened to my mumsnet mobile page? Has gone all weird. Hmm

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/12/2012 17:50

Who was it who had a space saver cot? Where was it from? Is it any good? How long to you think it will last?

I thank you.
Xx

GTbaby · 18/12/2012 17:52

Thanks pass. Was re reading gina ford book (shush don't tell any one) n read the establishing bf section. Y? Am long missed that boat. Kept thinking nxt time ill try this n that n it will work. Need to focus on LO. Not the nxt kid!

This new app looks nice. But is rubbish!

StuntNun · 18/12/2012 17:57

I don't think that's weird GT, if you regret not continuing to bf then it seems natural to want to find out where you went wrong so that you'll have a better chance next time, whenever that may be. I had an awful time bfing my DS1 and DS2, believe me I was very well read this time round although J got the hang of it right from the start which is a huge relief.

I think you should definitely finish the ice cream YW so that there's a clear difference in your diet when you cut out dairy. Otherwise you can send it to me, what flavour is it?

Regarding the dreaded thrush, how can I be certain of removing spores from dummies, tears, etc? I have washed them in hot soapy water and microwave sterilised them but is that enough?

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 18/12/2012 18:20

Thanks pass. It's not all the time but it is obvious when he vomits sometimes, compared to posseting. I guess I'll have to keep track of when it happens & check what I've been eating, as maybe that causes it. It doesn't seem to bother him all the time.

How apt. He's just up-chucked on ny shoulder & its all poured down my top & collected in my bra. Naice.
