My DS seems to cry with a dirty or wet nappy, which seems strange to me, as DD never did; she used to cry for food but that was it. DS is an all-together more fussy thing. Doesn't like being held in certain positions, doesn't like wet nappies, doesn't like being winded.

GT thankfully it was DS's bedding, not ours. Went through EVERYTHING!

ValiumQueen · 18/12/2012 09:31

DS is not bothered by a wet nappy, but he is saving up his poo and it nearly rockets him into space so I change him immediately due to yowling and risk of leaks.

Another bad night due to cough and mucous. Wondering when this will end. Seems ironic that the best night we have had was when he was in hospital with his chest.

Elizadoesdolittle · 18/12/2012 10:00

Hi, not posted for a couple of days so just checking in.

chunky absolutely change the clothes to a size/style that you will use. I didn't change anything with DD1 and I really regret it. So many things went pretty much unused. So I vowed to not make the same mistake with DD2 so I have changed things I know that she will not wear. Mainly due to size issues rather than style this year. Don't seem to have as many hidious pink fluffy outfits this time round! When I give newborn gifts I always include a gift receipt as I'd much rather the recipient changed it if they didn't like it rather than just stuck it in a cupboard and forget about it.

Sorry to hear there are a lot of poorly babies still. E still has a cough and is very mucousy. Will it never end! I'm still waiting for an appointment with the paediatric unit about her slow weight gain but the fact she is coughing back up most of her milk is the main issue at the moment.

On a plus side I'm really looking forward to Christmas. I love it! Am taking DD1 to hever castle to Father Christmas grotto on Thursday. It's her swimming lesson this morning and none of us are ready so better go. Hope everyone has a good day.

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/12/2012 10:14

Not a bad night, she slept solid from 8-3 but then grunted from about 5am I eventually got up at 5:45 to see if it was her nappy bothering her. It wasn't, she exploded poo all over her sleeping bag while being changed and kept pooing on the floor but miraculously didnt get her sleepsuit. So bunged her sleeping bag in a sink of vanish and went back to bed where she finally slept deeply but then I had to get up with ds grr!

I've dip dyed my hair this morning, will upload pic if anyone cares Xmas Grin

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/12/2012 10:29

Oh he's Dh let's see the new hair.

There isn't a clear consensus on the introduction of foods during weaning however weaning is a time when eczema is likely to start and there may be a link between certain foods.

If you have a family history of allergies or your baby has eczema you may want to avoid cow's milk, egg, wheat, tomato and citrus fruits until after the age of one. You may also want to avoid peanuts, tree nuts and shellfish for the first several years (I didn't give these until five as my DH is allergic to shellfish apart from when DS2 got stuck into the Snickers at a party.)

There's am article here but obviously do your own research before making a decision. I have asthma, eczema and hayfever, my DH has hayfever and shellfish allergy so in my opinion it's worth doing anything that may prevent my kids having these illnesses. If you don't have them in your family you probably don't need to worry about it.

Lane it says here that...

When born, infants do not have a fully developed digestive system and may have problems digesting the proteins found in whole milk. Breast milk and infant formula have a high concentration of whey protein and a low concentration of casein protein. On the other hand, whole milk is 18 percent whey and 82 percent casein. Casein protein is large and more difficult to digest. The large protein molecules can irritate the intestines and cause intestinal bleeding. The amount of protein in whole milk compared to breast milk and infant formula is also very different. Per 100 g, breast milk contains 1 g, infant formula contains 2 g, and whole milk contains 3.3 g of protein. The large amount of protein found in whole milk can damage the infant's developing kidneys. By enhancing digestibility and reducing the protein amount, infant formula protein is similar to breast milk protein.

Good morning ladies,
We've had a pretty rough night as well,my poor DS woke up screaming at midnight and cried for almost an hour trying to do a poo.he's been straining and grunting all night and at about 6:30 he woke up screaming again. He is straining so much to poo,he screamed on off all morning passing gas and pooing.he can't sleep or feed properly as from all the straining and grunting he vomits some of the milk,he only went to sleep at 20 to 11 now.it's terrible to not be able to do anything to help, other than cuddles and some infacol drops

NervousAt20 · 18/12/2012 12:06

Anyone no about giving LOs calpol after jabs??

StuntNun · 18/12/2012 12:28

They don't always need it Nervous. My DS1 was sore after the first and second but not the third set whereas DS2 took them all in his stride. So I'd say wait until afterwards and see whether they're unsettled.

OP posts:
YellowWellies · 18/12/2012 12:39

Nervous we got advised to give calpol after jags - will do that tomo if he seems to be suffering as we've got the 8 week check and jags.

Is it possible for the six week growth spurt to last 10 days / 2 weeks. He is still a grizzly little bugger in the evenings, has moved from infrequent large feeds to regular little feeds, is very very fussy (often screaming and fighting the breast) and much more cranky than he used to be. Where has my lovely calm little chap gone? When he takes a gulp of BM then squeals it makes me feel like I'm poisoning him - even though the rational part of my brain knows he's doing it to increase my supply but enough already!!!

Oh and sods law - Daddy is getting lots of smiles whereas with his fussing at the breast - I'm left feeling he doesn't like me. Which I know is daft.

And the thrush still hasn't gone :( think the doc at our 8 week check had best prepare himself for a long whinge from me.

debbie1412 · 18/12/2012 13:04

Yellow try putting him down earlier my dd was exactly the same in the evenings she's 6 wks I was starting to dread evenings. A friend said she might become over stimulated I thought it was wind. She's was really unsettled between 9-11pm she's now down by 9. 3rd night in a row x

horseylady · 18/12/2012 13:06

Yw were at 10 days of the growth spurt. Calming down the last couple of days thankfully!!

Weighed him with me last night and clothed plus nappy he was 12lb so he was 10.2 last week so I think he put on nearly a pound in a week (and returned to his centile). Will find out tomorrow when he's weighed!! He's definitely gone bigger and less baby like. Everyone at baby group said how much he'd changed in a week or two from them last seeing him!! He met Santa today!!

ShellyBobbs · 18/12/2012 13:17

Hope your little ones are better soon Pass and Tits

Detective I've so far taken back 3 lots of clothes, a bouncy chair and a pram mobile.

I feel like I've got a baby growing in my arse. It takes about 2 hours to stop hurting after a poo, any tips on getting rid of piles? The pain is actually up my arse though and I'm not sticking anything up there!

Saturday night, swaddled Tommy in a swaddle cloth for the first time, put him in his moses basket and he stayed there! Same Sunday night, and we got until 4.15 this morning before cluster feeding commenced. I've actually pissed him off this morning I think, it's taken 3.5 hours to catch up on here and I can only do it whilst I'm feeding so have kept putting him back on. He gave me a WTF look before so felt I had to give him a break lol Xmas Grin

Hugs to those with arses as DP's, something none of us need right now.

Oh and Horsey, I wouldn't have said anything, I'd have slowly unscrewed the top of E's bottle whilst manically staring at her, walked up to her and smiling sweetly poured the rest of it in her brew! Stupid bitch.

ShellyBobbs · 18/12/2012 13:24

Growth spurts are anything between 2 days and 2 weeks unfortunately.

I've just weighed myself and I'm 9st 8.5lb. I was 11st a week before birth and 10st 4lbs before pregnancy, so pretty chuffed that I can eat a packet of ginger nuts a day. All the pregnancy fat has gone, just got massive breast feeding bazookers and I now fit in pants I was too flabby to fit in before pregnancy. Might be a different story after xmas though Xmas Grin

ValiumQueen · 18/12/2012 13:27

YW I could have written your post. Except we have mucous and cough instead of thrush. I have come close to giving up but as detective pointed out, I am very stubborn. It must end soon. It must.

ValiumQueen · 18/12/2012 13:32

I have taken clothes back for bigger sizes. MIL got small stuff for J for Christmas. It was already too small. I had said to get 3-6 months at least. I got the same stuff only bigger as she checks. I asked for a novelty Christmas outfit for him, and she got a horrid white velour thing with first Christmas on. I wanted a penguin or an elf.

NervousAt20 · 18/12/2012 13:45

Thank you yellow and stunt I won't give it her unless she needs it but I jus wanted to know if she could, been an it some on the way home, I'd rather have it in the house and my use it then not have it but need it. She's doing okay a the minute is a little grouchy but hoping she sleeps it off. Bless my little girl Xmas Sad

ValiumQueen · 18/12/2012 13:47

Oh, and I just sat on my lunch. Cauliflower cheese. Messy. It was on the sofa and in 10 seconds I forgot it was there. Hot too.

KissysUnderTheMisteltoe · 18/12/2012 13:53

Hi everyone sorry I've not posted for a while, hope sending get well wishes to all whose LOs are poorly.

Having a bit of a panic here, we went to a neighbours for a play date yesterday and got a message from them this morning to say their little girl has come out in chicken pox this morning ShockShock Think DD1 will definitely get it as she was playing with the little girl, really scared LO is going to get it too and be really poorly as she's only 4 weeks 4 days old! NHS website says it can cause complications in babies under 4 weeks. I know she's slightly older than that but am still really worried. Confused Not the best thing to have for Xmas either Hmm

Anyone had a young baby with chicken pox who can reassure me!?

glendathegoodwitch · 18/12/2012 13:56

Arse - wrote a huge post and this Stoopid app lost it grrrrrrr cba trying to write it out again by thumb lol

Hope everyone is well?

gardenpixies32 · 18/12/2012 14:03

Hip scan went well, we have 4 healthy working hips. Now just the pediatrician appointment on Wednesday and I am hoping things will go back to normal (whatever that may be).

Haven't had the girls weighed since they were 8 weeks old. I just cannot make the baby clinic timings. They are all bang in the middle of feed times and I am not confident to feed both on my own when I am out. Plus lately, they want to be fed at exactly the same time! They howl unless I simultaneously feed them. Scared that will happen at baby clinic so haven't ventured to one of them yet.

Girls having their 12 week jabs on New Years Eve. None of us seem to be having a jolly festive season!

Ordered the girls vests and sleepsuits in the next size, 3-6 months, from Next. was like a stock take, had to sit with pen and paper to work out how many more vest/babygros were needed. Am 100 quid poorer too.

DP being a shit too and complaining about how tired he is. He does not know tired.
