Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Urgh. Feel so tired and cold-ridden. Needed sleep last night so swaddled bean again and she did another big sleep (8 hours). Don't want her to rely on swaddling but she seems to wake herself after 5.5. hours when she's free, mostly because she wakes herself up moving.

Anyway just had a hot chocolate to use up the milk and cheer myself up :) More later...

hufflepuffle · 18/12/2012 11:38

Gaargh Livvy on lack of heating and hot water!!! Hope u hav been able to get a sensible emergency plumber!!!!

Just been to drop in baby clinic. 14 lb 4. Sweet lord. 64cm long which puts him in 99.6th height centile! Wanted to lift and cuddle the little small babies who were waiting!!!!!

Trying to work out when to feed little dude to encourage him to sleep while I'm in dentist!!! Mum going to walk him about town so hopefully won't cry but don't want him hungry!! Slept now longer than I hoped but darent wake him

hufflepuffle · 18/12/2012 11:40

It's Definately the wind that wakes mine up Angelico. Think if I swaddle him tightly enough I'd squeeze all the wind out?? Shock

Sympathy on feeling so rough. Yuck. Hope the hot choc helps!

Quick post for potential teethers - you might find this thread useful! :)

Beanie is 12 weeks old today Shock

Cherrychopsticks · 18/12/2012 12:24

Just wrote loads, accidentally touched the back arrow and lost the whole fecking lot Angry Can't be arsed to do it again at the moment.

londonlivvy · 18/12/2012 12:50

Yay wooybob regaining weight. Oh and I recall you asked about long car journeys. My sis said she lent over the car seat and fed the baby as they drove along. Hum. Not sure this is exactly in the best advice bracket but it made me laugh. I have a long journey planned to my parents in jan and I aim to drive to a friend during the lunchtime sleep, then feed and hangout and the bath and all that and then set off at bedtime (7pm) for the remainder of the journey. I should make it by 1030 or so which is time for the next feed then bed. That's the cunning plan anyway. Do you know anyone half way on your journey?

I am so cross about having gone back onto dairy. She has been miserable, properlyf grizzly and won't eat and oh man, hideous. I have found some expressed milk in the freezer from when I was dairy free and managed to get some of that into her, and am now pumping and dumping for today, hoping that by tomorrow it'll be getting better.

Now if the sodding plumber could turn up... It's 17oC in her bedroom at the moment, which isn't too bad, but it's only going to be doing downwards and she's only a tiny wee skinny little bean (9lb6 at 7 weeks) and so cold isn't great. I have way more covering to keep me warm....

Love the swimming stuff and hope to get out there, though I assume we need to wait til her jabs are done (not til 3rd jan as 8 wks exactly would be Xmas eve, and given some of the stories of bad reactions, best to not do this at a time when doctors are all in holiday).

Ooof. What a day. And I didn't get to go see my NCT girls as waiting for said plumber. Boo. MIL arrives 5am tomorrow.

londonlivvy · 18/12/2012 12:51

I meant to add, mil is coming from NZ where it is currently 30 degrees. She is not going t enjoy a freezing house if the plumber can't fix it,,

Lizzietow · 18/12/2012 13:16

8 week jab alert- eek!

Lizzietow · 18/12/2012 13:19

Ps still no more than 4 1/2 hr sleeps here! Jealous of all you 6 hours plus! Sorry for short posts. Squid I'm glad you're feeling so much better.

Orenishii · 18/12/2012 13:50

Livvy don't be concerned about your bedroom temperature - our bedroom radiator has never worked and since DS has been in there, it's gone down as low as twelve. I've just used a combination of long sleeve vests, baby gro, gro bag and cellular blankets - up to three but only used two so far when combined with a gro bag. I used baby gros that had built in scratch mitts, or just put mitts on him when it seemed like his hands were very cold - though apparently it's ok for their hands to get very cold as it's not an indicator of their overall temp.

I don't know if you'd get your heating fixed pretty soonish but for anyone else with cold bedrooms, I also got some baby gros made by the grobag people - they are normal cotton all over the body and legs but the arms are quilted in the way the bags are - so their sticky out arms are also padded Grin

To be honest, living in worry of SIDS, I've come to prefer the cold bedroom - and since we also co-sleep, I'd rather he was too cold than too hot.

Loving all the swimming! DH is way more PFB than me and worried about the effect of chlorine as DS has sensitive skin, apparently very normal in mixed race babies but might cause problems nonetheless. Finally found a low chlorinated pool in Swiss Cottage - all the way across London! - that do a baby swim class so going tomorrow. If my delivery ever arrives and I can get out to Sainsburys to get some swim nappies, that is!

crazypaving · 18/12/2012 14:03

hi all! very jealous of all the amazing babies doing long sleeps. poor babypaving still has horrendous cold and cough so I suppose needs to feed more. bloody hell I'm exhausted though, my head actually feels a bit funny. kind of like there's high pressure in there and my ears ring constantly. hey ho.

smiley remember how quickly things can change in these early days. work must feel incredibly daunting but baby may be sleeping much better by then. hope you're ok.

Bella thinking of you x

Londonmrss · 18/12/2012 14:08

Oren I'm quite tempted to join you at swiss cottage, but frankly the thought off getting on the jubilee line makes me feel a bit sick!

Orenishii · 18/12/2012 14:26

Londonmrs come with!! It'll be so much fun! The Jubilee line is scary but I did it from W. Hampstead to London Bridge and it really wasn't so bad. I had all sorts of worries about floating germs and dirt - I could literally see the germs but it was all alright.

BoraBora · 18/12/2012 16:41

I cannot believe you've been on the tube - what madness is this?? Sling or buggy?

Orenishii · 18/12/2012 16:58

Sling - there's no way I am ready with the pram yet. I'm still getting one side of the wheels stuck on bins and stuff, FFS Grin

Beccus · 18/12/2012 17:07

borabora, tube no prob with sling if u avoid peak hr. would not take pram anywhere near it, tho! we would love to join u ladies in swiss cottage for a swim in new yr after jabs in early jan Smile

BoraBora · 18/12/2012 17:16

What do you dress LO in in the sling? I've got a stretchy one byt there's no way in a million years she'll tolerate it. She'll go in a baby bjorn though. Just a snowsuit doesn't seem warm enough considering I put her in that in the pram?

Londonmrss · 18/12/2012 18:03

don't forget that they also have your body heat on the sling...

Elpis · 18/12/2012 18:04

BoraBora Snowsuit is ample in the BabyBjorn because your heat keeps them warm. Have been doing preschool run on the bus with DS for 11 weeks and he's never cold, in or out of snowsuit. I do have a cover for it, though, which keeps him very snug.

An on Northern line side of N London, and quite busy tomorrow so can't join you. Swiss Cottage would need a bit of planning. But another time? First week of Jan?

Londonmrss · 18/12/2012 18:10

yeah I'd be up for it in Jan cos we'll have had jabs by then

Orenishii · 18/12/2012 18:12

Bora I always feel like they're warmer in the sling - or Babybjorn - so I've never put him in the full on puffa snowsuit like I do in the pram. So he has a long sleeve vest, this thicker-than-a-baby gro velour all in one thing with a hood, a knitted cardy, hat and gloves. He's always been very toasty - but I wear him on the inside of my coat - though it doesn't do up - so he has my body heat.

Beccus yes definitely! Day trip to Swiss Cottage leisure centre Grin

BoraBora · 18/12/2012 21:19

Even though you wear the bjorn outside your coat??
