Dear Mummy's Mumsnet friends,
AIBU to only fill my nappy once a week? And make it, the most disgusting, nappy ever?! So disgusting that Mummy dunked me straight in the bath this afternoon. She didn't even take my nappy off first because she didn't want the poo to drip everywhere. I only like to do it when Mummy's around. I don't like pooing on Daddy.

Love from Pippa.

MickeyTheShortOne · 17/12/2012 19:37

DD, get off my computer Hmm
Joining in the poo-mageddon party today.
Huffle I'd been thinking the exact same thing these last two days!
Londonmrss I hope you are recovering from your fall.

No word from Squid for a while.. Hope you are ok and enjoyed your spa day!

hufflepuffle · 17/12/2012 19:53

Hello Pippa!!! Coochie coo!!

hufflepuffle · 17/12/2012 19:55

Ha! Well we've either all got early teethers or they just bloody dribble!! Can u retract what I said earlier about lovely content baby?? Dont think he has been happy for longer than a minute since. Sigh

Londonmrss · 17/12/2012 20:41

the poo finally happened. oh boy, did it happen. I swear she's about 4lb lighter now.

MickeyTheShortOne · 17/12/2012 20:45

Londonmrss Ours was a weeks worth here. You think 4 days is bad!

Angelico · 17/12/2012 21:00

Heh heh Mickey we had one like that just as friend arrived for lunch. Probably quite off-putting thinking you're going to get a feed only to be confronted by poo-streaked bean and mother and be made to fill bath :o

Bean had 2nd lot of jabs today. Yomping if it's first jabs it will be the full check so feeding while giving them would be awkward but certainly feed straight after - I did today and it comforts them.

london missed your fall on first read but you did well lady!

Crazy ouch and sympathy on the bum pain :( As if we didn't all suffer enough in pregnancy...! Don't be shy about going and getting it checked.

On teething - dentist said that teeth typically start moving up in gums from 10 weeks but sometimes earlier. We've been getting the red cheeks / screamies / drooling, bubbles etc too. As if all the stomach and poo stuff isn't enough to contend with...! Confused I know some people swear by the A&P teething powders but think they're more a herbal thing. Mind you I find gripe water more useful than Infacol and HV said her kid was the same.

Shout out to Bella (any joy on DH's job front?), Fjord, CWest and anyone else MIA. Hope you're all okay Thanks

Orenishii · 17/12/2012 21:03

Another dribbler here!

My sweet tempered little boy has turned into one that - if he's not sleeping or feeding - is generally screaming or yelling. He's currently lying next to me, writhing madly and clawing at his eyes :(

Good luck to all of you awaiting poo-mageddon! We had it up the stomach today...not sure how that happened.

lisbethsopposite · 17/12/2012 21:54

Just woke a deeply sleeping baby to change a big poo -- now a crying grumpy baby. Feck.
Cradle cap here too - the smelly kind, but baby not bothered. I was recommended epaderm and it is improving.

Angelico · 17/12/2012 21:57

lisbeth rubbing olive oil on, leaving for a while, then brushing fairly firmly with soft baby brush really worked miracles on bean's cradle cap. Brushed again at shampooing stage.

lisbethsopposite · 17/12/2012 23:21

Huffle I swear by Multi-Mam Compresses. I am still on first box as found really healing and I had crack with ds1.

Thanks Angelico hated having baby smell like dinner but will go back to olive oil pre bath as this is not clearing up, though improved.

OP posts:
Angelico · 17/12/2012 23:30

Lisbeth the brushing is the secret. I was a bit peeved at HV for mentioning it as thought she was making a big deal out of nothing - but it really worked Blush We only use the oil once a week before her weekly bath so just put the oil on an hour before, brush, then shampoo, then brush again. Like magic I tell ya! :)

HV also showed me a whole new bit in the car seat today that I didn't even know was there. Think she might actually be WonderWoman Confused :o

lisbethsopposite · 17/12/2012 23:31

BTW I am with you Squid on unhappy body image. DH says great, but with 2yr old and infant I have done no exercise aside from some walking. Midriff feels like sack of softish spuds .
New yr resolution to join gym- Au Pair starting Jan 2.

I haven't been on much as we have just moved house - closer to our families. I could really relate to posters feeling they had no friends near, and I have loved meeting my old ones.

londonlivvy · 18/12/2012 03:25

Yomping, you are ACE. No booze for me last night and she slept from 11 to 3.10. Yay. I am hoping that once I've fed her she will make it through til 7. So grateful for the info.

Chuckled very loudly at thought of what a once a week poo might be like... good lord. It's bad enough when we get them twice daily.

London, how are your bruises healing? Good skills on bean protection.

Bora, I used to live in clapham but have since moved to surrey so my name is a bit misleading.

Bella, how are you?

Am rather OMG at the thought of teething already. Do we not have enough to deal with?

And our heating has decided to leak down some electrics, tripping the fuses. So no heating or hot water til we get a plumber. Not ideal. Fortunately we have a new build reasonably well insulated house and it is not that cold out currently. But I hope we find a plumber tomorrow

Londonmrss · 18/12/2012 03:30

livvy oh no on the heating and hot water! at least it isn't too cold.

um... so... bean just slept for 5 hours and 40 mins. I could get used to this but I'm now terrified it was a fluke.

Beccus · 18/12/2012 04:24

huffle, bean in sitting position with her back against my thighs and her bum on my lap. yes, baby's knees r bent. sounds like a seated position gets yomping's bean poohing too....how funny alice cackles when she does a pooh. no cackles here, but definitely a mischievious glint in her eyeSmile

Yay First!!!! We had just over 7 hrs again too. Delighted but realistic!! Each day as it comes in this house!!

Beccus thank you!! Works a treat!! I had prev held him over shoulder thinking gravity would help but he squirmed far less on lap! Over a minute of squelching!!! Nice!

Must go!

londonlivvy · 18/12/2012 08:09

Oh DRAT. Had been dairy free for two weeks but after a week hadn't seen much improvement in the reflux so doc suggested ranitidine. I spoke to doc yesterday to see whether I should be going back on dairy or not. She said go for it. So I had tea with milk and real biscuits, then a yoghurt. Today on waking there was a greeny poo. not v awake i then had my breakfast, with milk on cereal and coffee. Now another green poo. She was also disinterested in feeding at 3am and at 7, with screaming. I suspect this means she is indeed intolerant of dairy. Does my logic make sense?

hufflepuffle · 18/12/2012 08:28

Makes sense to me. Drat is a v polite reaction.......!

Woolybob · 18/12/2012 09:11

Hooray for all the improved sleeps! Grin Grin Grin
Bit of success on that front ourselves, slept 6 hours from 10.30 till 4.30 which she has done before but this time went back to sleep after change + feed. She then woke up an hour later but whereas I'd normally get up and feed her again and that would be it for the night dh got up to her, gave her a cuddle and a brief jiggle round the room and she was straight off back to sleep Shock . I was so knackered I vowed I wouldn't get up unless she really seemed to mean it and though I heard thrashing about several times she is still asleep now... Have decided maybe I am rushing in too soon and not giving her a chance to self settle? Anyway fingers crossed improvement continues!

On the downside now I'm slightly more rested I've noticed a big splodge of dried up baby sick down the front of my dressing gown. I think that must have been there about 3 days Hmm

Woolybob · 18/12/2012 09:12

Oh and we got one too first. I've sent them in previous years to ppl, dead cute aren't they?

Orenishii · 18/12/2012 09:24

Hurrah to londonmrs, first and huffle on the sleeping through! Know exactly what you mean about having no expectations for the same the following night though. It feels like some kind of alchemy - what happened to make them sleep - how can I do it again??.

livvy wishing you hot water and heating VERY soon! That's just the worst...I dread our boilers going, snd they go every single year.

I'm in south London too - perhaps we should all have a meet up! Have baby, can travel Grin

Poor Quincy - he's taken to thrashing his arms and head around of an evening. Going to try switching to goat's milk but from what I've read, it could be any number of things. Could just be his age, could be needing to poo - aargh, why is there no fixed answer to anything!

Does swaddling help? His arms flail about so it might help with that, but his head just turns from side to side. He's rubbing all his hair off so he looks like he's got an old man's hair cut. I'm tempted to shave it all off, it looks so bad!

squidkid · 18/12/2012 10:51

Hello everyone! There's so much to catch up on when you've been gone a few days...

Thanks for the birthday wishes. The day after my birthday was a really nice day in the end, I did go to the spa and it was just perfect for clearing out sinuses and relaxing and letting go of stress. Jess was good as gold for my mum. Went out again in the evening with brother and boyfriend and a couple of friends, we got a text from my mum at 8pm saying Jess (and brother's kids) were sound asleep so... we all got hammered, haha. I think I had about a bottle of wine, which is enough to get me drunk these days. Once she goes down for the night Jess doesn't feed again till 6am so it was (I think!) enough time for the alcohol to get out my system... oops, i hope so! Woke up with hangover and rock hard boobs... sexy

Yesterday I took Jess for her first swim

Thank you all for being so kind when I was feeling so down. Think I was mostly sad about my stupid body because I had to take 6 days off my running/workout routine, which was beginning to go really well. Well that and the fact I puff up when I have a cold. I know it was an overreaction, but anyway. I won't be weighing myself again any time soon. I forced myself to try on some jeans in town yesterday and am roughly a size 12 so that is hardly a disaster. I will keep on keeping on. Went for a run again this morning and it was ok, nearly up to 5K now. I get more thirsty than hungry with breastfeeding so I am pretty good with eating healthily. We'll see.

Got a mate coming over shortly, he is signed off work sick and needs some TLC.

Jess has been amazingly chilled out for the last week. Sleeping better than ever, and mostly just smiling or playing in between. Not sure what I've done to deserve that... she is a happy baby.

Need to do a mega catch up.
