Thrush drops are almondy!

horseylady · 03/12/2012 18:24

We have so many clothes it'd be rude for him not to wear them!!!

Today he's in a beige. Bottoms, vest, jacket thing with little bears on.

ValiumQueen · 03/12/2012 18:32

Thank you for missing me, and all your kind comments Thanks

Js breathing is horrible, and I want to cry looking at him. He is managing to feed and can scream when he wants something, and has given the odd feeble smile. It was very clear when it turned from a cold to something else. It happened very quickly too, and was a bit scary. He has not needed calpol all day, which is good. I will be sleeping on the floor in the nursery tonight as he needs to sleep in his cot. I figure now is a good time to try as he slept in a cot in hospital. The cot is elevated at the head, and he has his monitor so hopefully I will feel I can sleep.

Chunkychicken · 03/12/2012 18:32

I have a scaly boy too detective which is weird as he wasn't overdue although he was a week later than everyone predicted

horseylady · 03/12/2012 18:37

Hugs again vq. Glad he's home. Let's hope he improves!!

daisychain76 · 03/12/2012 18:38

Glad you and J are home vq. Hope N?s jabs were ok Evil. Pass that is a fab book. l am getting H one called Babies for Christmas which is all about different Babies and ends with a mirror and the line ?but the baby that l love the best in all the world is you?.

Gt lgave up.on GF after 2 weeks with ds1, largely cos of the early mornings.

H only has 2 outfits and loads of babygros cos he?s still in tiny baby stuff, not. newborn and l didn?t want to buy lots cos l didn?t think he?d still be in it at 10 weeks!

I took him round the Christmas maarkets in Manchester today. He loved the train journey in ~ was gazing out of the windows all wide eyed and amazed!

ValiumQueen · 03/12/2012 18:41

I have done the school run in pjs recently. They are black though.

I cannot remember what everyone has said as you lot talk a lot! I too prefer baby gros and vests to proper outfits. I find until they can sit up anything that has a top and a bottom just looks untidy. I have been known to cut the feet off favourite gros so they last longer, but that only works in romper season, which lasts two days up here.

I love gro bags too but am a bit of a snob. I will only buy second hand gro bags Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 03/12/2012 18:56

LO also has flaky skin. I'm trying to ignore it. DD1 was the same and it cleared up as weeks went by.

applepieinthesky · 03/12/2012 19:23

Glad he is home with you now VQ. That must have been a really scary time.

Must try to keep up with the thread more. DS will be three weeks old on Wednesday and I've barely posted Shock I love him so much already but all these sleepiness nights are hard work. I'm finding it difficult but don't want to complain too much.

Today I've had tonnes of parcels arrive - I've been doing my Christmas shopping online as don't like taking DS out in the cold too much. I've got him sme nursery rhyme books in Farsi (his daddy's language) and English. Got him some rattles as well but not sure what else to get him.

applepieinthesky · 03/12/2012 19:24

*some

horseylady · 03/12/2012 19:37

I'm buying e a toy box. And a play pen.

Had a minor arguement with dh. It may turn into a major one when we get home. We've come to his dads, I didn't want to go as to be quite honest I can sit home alone and watch tv with the baby. He wanted me to come along. I understand why, but I might as well be at home alone. At least I could watch what I wanted and not listen to someone swearing because they can't find what they want. So I just have to try to make sure ds doesn't cry, which is ok ATM he's busily watching lights and shadows.

blonderthanred · 03/12/2012 19:50

It is so hard to keep up with this thread now! Glad you are home VQ & hope J continues to improve.

We've been at the docs today as L still hasn't had a poo since Thursday and was in a lot of discomfort over the weekend. However they said there is nothing wrong, tummy and bottom seem fine so just keep massaging and winding him. She said maybe leave off the Infacol for a few days in case it is making him constipated. We have a prescription for suppositories but she thought we should leave it before trying them.

Had an awful job getting an appt as he isn't yet registered, we were told to register him the day before his 6 week check i.e. tomorrow. But the receptionist was super unpleasant and said we should have done it before. Nice that she wanted to turn away a 5 week old baby. Anyway when we got there and I said I needed to register a baby, the (different) receptionist on duty said, oh this must be Lawrence, so sorry about what happened earlier. She evidently thought we shouldn't have been turned away either.

We are vest and babygro fans too (apart from the occasional froggie outfit), with a M&P pram suit for walks and a Morrck blanket for the car seat. I will never again buy a new baby anything that doesn't have poppers everywhere - so many cute things that are just too much trouble to wear. We have also been given a million 0-3m or even 3-6m clothes so had to buy extra newborn and even small baby stuff for our little one so I think I'd get nb for others too.

YellowWellies · 03/12/2012 20:05

I wonder if Jonas has thrush you know. His tongue is white and he's been more fussy than normal... No other symptoms though... Will check with the HV this week when she finally turns up.

YellowWellies · 03/12/2012 20:06

Ok we have finally built the mobile for the cradle - it's a precious planet fisher price thingy I got from eBay - omigod it has gotten me, so far twenty minutes of baby free time. The limpet has been unlatched and is happily twirling his fingers and grunting at it. Finally getting a couple of things done today!

Passmethecrisps · 03/12/2012 20:32

YW I thought initially that Penny's tongue was just coated in milk as that's what it looks like. Penny largely seems unconcerned but sometimes she gags when you try to feed her. It's possible she has a wee sore spot. It can make her fussy because she is hungry but refuses te bottle

Chunkychicken · 03/12/2012 20:33

Glad you're both home VQ. Fingers crossed you both have a restful night.

ValiumQueen · 03/12/2012 20:45

A white tongue may just be milk. Check the roof of mouth, gums etc.

J is still pretty poorly but at least we know today will be worst and he should improve from tomorrow. He is feeding again so pleased about that. Have car seat and bag packed all ready in case he needs to go back. Had a scary half hour where he seemed unable to catch a breath. He was ok as still pink, but very distressing for him and me. I used to nurse kids. I could not do it now. Very different when they are your own.

On a positive, I had the best night sleep in hospital as I only had the one kid to look after. And he was on a monitor.

ValiumQueen · 03/12/2012 20:46

Thrush stuff is like marzipan. Yummy.

capedcrusader25 · 03/12/2012 21:32

Glad you are home VQ, I hope J does start to improve. Good news that he's feeding better though!
O had thrush in her mouth too, we got some Nystatin which seems to be doing the trick. I don't like the taste though, although I do hate marzipan!
She also had awful constipation - no hard stools though, they were actually quite slimey and apparently this could be poo/mucus being strained past stuck poo or something. Nice! Anyway I gave her cooled boiled water for a few days, she guzzled it down and it was sorted almost straight away. She's FF by the way.
Horsey O is 5 weeks on Monday and last week towards the end I was at my wits end regarding her feeding. She just seemed to really struggle and fight it, taking well over an hour to have 3oz and just generally looking like she was hating it. I tried her on the 2nd stage teats and she's been so much better since. It's amazing to see the difference!
Anyway I came on to post a link to some journals. I can't remember who was asking about them, or what specifically they were asking about - maybe something about a journal for their Mum to write things down ,etc?? I've just seen these whilst searching for Xmas presents, not sure if they're what you're looking for but thought I'd share anyway! Journals

I hope that link works Xmas Blush

jenbird · 03/12/2012 21:35

Oh dear VQ what a horrible time for you. My eldest ds had it when he was 7 months and it was very scary. Must be even worse when they are so tiny.
Eira is full of snot at the moment. Poor little thing snuffles through the night. My eldest ds has come down with the tummy bug that plagued the other two last week. He was gut wrenchingly sick this evening and positively grey.
On a poo note my eldest dd would often go upto 10 days without having a poo. She was EBF until six months. I did take her to the dr but it didn't seem to bother her. When she did finally have a poo they were explosive. We used to call them clothes cutters as there would be no point trying to get her clothes off, we would literally have to cut her out of them! She is fine now though.

ValiumQueen · 03/12/2012 21:41

My mum did a journal seven years ago for my firstborn. It is lovely. Just a cheap one from the works. Pictures of her grandparents in it, and everything from her perspective. Mum is 70 so will not be around for ever. It is already treasured.

J is asleep in his cot, elevated to 30 degrees or so. Picture me over cot with spaniel ear tit in his mouth to achieve this mind you. Not glamorous but effective. He can sound really peaceful, then cough starts and you think he is going to expire. Horrid. Gonna sleep while he is. On the floor next to him. Lucky me. See you in the small hours!

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 03/12/2012 22:16

We both had thrush tits and fed through it. Baby has nystatin drops and clotrimazole cream for his bottom as was sore there. I had miconazole cream for nipples and diflucan tablets as was deep breast as well as nipple thrush. Much better now tho and feeding is only painful if latch is wrong.

Baby buzzy is currently feeding then I hope to get to bed!! How long for is anyones guess. Dh will do any night feed before 2am and I will do anything after. Last night it was 2'05am when baby woke...I was gutted!

TheDetective · 03/12/2012 23:06

Oh VQ you have such a way with words Grin. Mine are like saggy bollocks when he's finished chomping away. Seriously. I like them when full though...! Poor you on the floor :( I hope you have loads and loads of pillows and a snuggly duvet!

Yes, Nystatin is like marzipan (almond!) flavouring. Bloody lovely! I looooooove Marzipan!

Re: journals, my mum has done one from her perspective for DS since I was pregnant. It has a different name in it, as we picked a name at 20 week scan, but changed it about 28 weeks! So it has Finn in the front cover! Grin Mum hated me for that! I might get her a journal for Oscar for Christmas. Fab idea! Was going to do her a photo diary! But journal is a nicer idea! So thanks for the link Caped!

I'm not finished having babies. Yet. One more. But I really don't want to go through birth again. Seen as its been shit both ways Hmm. Oh well... they are worth it.

This evening Oscar woke up for a feed at 7.30, I was burping him when the neighbour who smells of booze 24/7 called around, so didn't feel I could put him back on as she was cooing all over him. Then tea was ready. That made the neighbour bugger off thank god! Sat and ate tea quickly as Oscar was awake, but content off the boob, soon as I finished, he wanted to go back on. So fed again for 30 mins. Then he was still awake, so we put him on his play gym, and he lay there contented for a while, before going back on the boob! Then back on the play mat... then back on the boob again!! It ended up that the feed that started at 7.30 was on and off til 10pm in the end. He was awake the whole time! We watched the John Bishop DVD while he was doing his feed/play thing! Was very nice! Although I kept getting distracted by watching/talking to/taking pictures of Oscar! Blush

Anyway, I am enjoying his wakeful times! Unless they are between the hours of 2300 and 0700. Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 03/12/2012 23:35

Crap. At 6 weeks I thought we had avoided colic. Not so. Horrible evening again here. Luckily nights are relatively easy (famous last words). Nodding off now but remedies other than infacol anyone? Doesn't exist in France.... Night night x

kirrinIsland · 03/12/2012 23:44

Hello everyone. I've been offline for a few days - I havevattempted to catch up on the thread but you've all been so busy chatting I can't keep up.

Congratulations to Dixie and MM Thanks
Apologies if I've missed anyone elses announcements.

We've just spent 4 days in hospital with bronculitis :( She had really bad breathing and weight loss so they kept us until she could do without oxygen. She seems much better now, and has regained all the weight she lost so that's good.
