Hello all. Just checking in really, this thread is moving fast! S is 4 weeks old tomorrow (later today). Survived my first day home alone with 2 small people. We didn't leave the house, but everyone got fed and dressed. Although there was an awful lot of Peppa Pig - am hoping there is a study somewhere which states that no toddler who watched a shed load of PP ever grew up to be a psychopath.

MissL - after my spinal for my section I had a strange sensation in my throat which felt similar to what you describe. At one point I was scared I had swallowed part of something which had "fallen down" from where it should have been. It righted itself after a couple of days, but if you are worried, see your GP.

ValiumQueen · 30/11/2012 02:59

Both my girls speech really came on once the peppa pig thing was in their lives. My little girl is peppa pig, she tells me. Snort snort.

pass thank you, I am ok. Just. Better night tonight touch wood. DS is sounding very congested so may pop to dr just to get chest sounded. I think he is ok though. The girls are improving as is my cough. I was so disappointed yesterday as I wanted to go out christmas shopping with my mum but had sick kids instead.

I did get to go out briefly earlier in the week. Aldi and farm foods with J. Had a few folk admire him which was nice. Hurt my back though lifting the car seat.

No epiglotis issues here. Sounds horrid. Just tingle in back which is getting more frequent and more uncomfy. Plus head remains sore. BP variable according to stress. Need to see dr really.

Enjoying some peaceful night feeding with my bonus boy.

GTbaby · 30/11/2012 03:25

Oh and tesco breast pads r quite similar to lansol ones. But cheaper. However I didn't leak loads so don't know if they r that great either way.

Right bk to sleep.

rowingdowntheriver · 30/11/2012 04:12

This thread now moves so fast that I'm struggling to keep up with the daytime posts! Have plenty of time to keep up with the night time feeds!

vq, thank you for your lovely post earlier, it really made me think how lucky I am to have a healthy DS here with me. I know 3 people in rl who have had miscarriages recently, one is my DSis, one a good friend and another is an acquaintance who's LO was due at the same time as mine so very easy to compare what she would have had had the miscarriage not happened.

rowingdowntheriver · 30/11/2012 04:13

Er, my first line of previous post makes no sense! I mean I have plenty of time to keep up with night posts due to the frequent night feeds!

Chunkychicken · 30/11/2012 04:21

Feels like A hasn't been off my boob all night. Getting sore :( Sometimes its definitely comfort sucking so would use a dummy, but don't want to risk it until the tongue tie is resolved, as it might confuse issues/make his latch even worse. Bloody woman at the hospital either didn't email today or didn't cc me as she said she would Angry

TheDetective · 30/11/2012 06:29

A better night here finally!!!!

I came to bed at 9. Fed at 10,1,3,5 and still feeding now. Haven't even bothered looking at the Moses basket. We've just co-slept and apart from me being cold thanks to only pulling the duvet up to my tummy button, it's been much more successful.

Thank fuck! DP has just had over 7 hours unbroken sleep the lucky bastard! He better be grateful!

Think I'll go back to sleep after he has finished then get up after next feed! Might attempt some Christmas shopping today. Although just locally. Bum still as sore as ever. Grrrr. It really isn't improving and Oscar is a week old today! (Time flying so fast...!)

TheDetective · 30/11/2012 06:31

Oh apart from this feed the others have been 30 min feeds as opposed to 2 hour feed fests!

PetiteRaleuse · 30/11/2012 06:50

Agh. DD1 has a temperature and gastro. I hate November. Hoping the upcoming cold snap will kill everything off. Bloody childcare it's a nest of illness. Wouldn't mind but LO could do with some time off being ill.

pikz · 30/11/2012 07:12

vq I've just sobbed good and proper. You are so right and as I look at my amazing bundle of little ewok lying here on me, he was the baby many told me I couldn't have. Like you I felt guilt at needing a c section because I feel like I've not done it properly, he's being fed on expressed as we found out yesterday he's tongue tied and I feel crap I can't breast feed.

So today on his 1 week birthday I'm going to try and marvel in his amazingness and not cry about what isn't in my head perfect.

tinyeyes123 · 30/11/2012 07:23

Hello ladies.
Hope you don't mind if I join the gang. Had a bit of a surprise delivery when baby decided she wanted to arrive in November instead of January! She's in special care but doing really and will prob come home in a week or two. Need to start expressing as overnight my boobs have gone mental. Feel like I've had a boob job (bye bye piddly B-cups!)

DesperateHousewife21 · 30/11/2012 07:42

We've had cbeebies on so much in the past three weeks that even ds knows the whole days schedule by heart Hmm

Not a great night here, up a few times and lots of grunting/ snuffling in between because of her cold :(

horseylady · 30/11/2012 07:50

Shit night here and not the baby!

I've just been projectile vommiting and water like poo. There is nothing left inside me. Just praying dh and ds don't get it. Not done anything for 4/5 hours now. Do you think im safe to help out yet or would you leave it? Feel so weak. What if ds gets it? What do I do?!

TheDetective · 30/11/2012 09:06

Stay in bed, leave baby to Daddy Horsey. Sips of water, and rest.

I love Oscars windy smiles. They are the cutest! He must be full of wind this morning!!!

Passmethecrisps · 30/11/2012 09:06

Welcome tiny. Wishing you are your LO all the best.

Passmethecrisps · 30/11/2012 09:15

Sounds awful horsey. I second detective's advice to stay in bed. You need to get back to full health.

Pretty tough night here again. P is still really bothered by wind and constipation so she won't settle for hours. The ten o'clock feed went on until 2.30 then another between 5 and 6. I got her up at 8:30 as she was making such grunting noises that she was keeping us awake anyway.

Peaky1 · 30/11/2012 09:17

Sorry Horsey i haven't got any certain advice but I'd say take whatever help you can get until you pick up a bit. Perhaps ring a health professional youtrust for advice.

Welcome Tinyeyes! Early eager baby for you but good to know things are going well. You mentioned expressing. I'm going to try my medela swing for the first time today as I want to slowly build up a freezer stock and work J up to taking the odd bottle from DP. My aim is to get out for a few hours one evening mid december to watch my friends in a theatre panto!

Any opinions on Medela Swing?

TheDetective · 30/11/2012 09:50

I still can't believe the full force of love and awe I have for this little thing in my arms! I remember feeling it with DS1 but this time it is like it is in vivid colours as opposed to the fog of PTSD I had with DS1. I think it clouded the whole experience plus being as young as I was, I didn't appreciate everything for what it was.

This feels so different. Amazing really! It has strengthened the strong bond between me and DS1 also! I feel complete as a family. Like something has been missing. And finally it is here!

Jims · 30/11/2012 09:52

pikz i just hired a medela symphony direct from medela as i've been expressing for F as he wasn't feeding properly and i didn't want my supply to drop.. It's amazing, i got as much in 5 mins as with an hour with the medela swing. It's £45 for 14 days inc all delivery and return charges and then £45 a month afterwards. I did it to tide me over till F has his tongue tie cut next friday. It's also reassuring to see quite how much comes off as presumably it's more like when F feeds.

We've been having a rough week, It turned out F had a urine infection which meant we were in hospital fri night and then sun-weds. He's getting better now and we're home with oral antibiotics rather than IV. That may have contributed to his not feeding as he just wouldn't wake up enough. I've been feeding. Topping up and expressing but so so nearly turned to formula so many times over the last week. I just felt like my supply was dropping and dropping in hospital and only using my swing pump. He's actually managing to feed from me again the last 24 hours, with fussing, so that's a relief. Hopefully the tongue tie snip will help with that. I still can't believe i was told by 2 midwives, the bf clinic at the hospital and a children's paed prof he didn't have a TT until it was finally checked properly by a junior dr on the kid's ward who was lovely and took me seriously.

Hope everyone else who's having a rough time is ok and that the babies all get better. And hope you feel better soon horsey

vq that was an amazing post earlier and so true.

FreddieMercurysBolero · 30/11/2012 09:58

Horsey and GTbaby - please don't beat yourself up about bf. I did that with DS1 and it spoiled some of the time when I should have been enjoying him. You tried, and that's what matters.

Pass - sounds very young to put him on hungry baby milk - it's generally meant for babies who are almost ready to be weaned rather than newborns. It may fill him up too much and he may not drink enough to gain weight then. Could be reflux, I can't think of any other reason why he would vomit so much. What does her HV say about it? Could she maybe try some infant gaviscon on his bottle foirst to see if that works instead?

Misslaughs- congrats on the arrival of your lo, im sorry you had a tough labour:(

Ds slept from 12.30 until 5.45 last night Shock. In other news, my mother is still here. In her opinion, DS must be forced into a routine of feeding four hourly.she is also obsessed with wind. Ds almost gets his wind up by himself, if you just move him. This is not good enough. He must be poked and prodded and thrown around to make sure ALL the wind is up. Sigh.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 30/11/2012 10:16

I love being at home with my kids. Grin

Rather than at work, without them. Sad

Evilwater · 30/11/2012 10:23

A question on layers, I know that LO are supposed to have one more layer than us, but does the vest count?

My LO is into trousers and t- shirts. Do I need to get long johns for him???

Belgrano · 30/11/2012 10:33
