Ack horsey that sounds rough! I hope he nods off for a bit longer so you can get a snooze.

How do you get to the farm? Do you use your sling or the buggy? Am I remembering correctly that you guys got an uppababy? We love ours but we discovered that it is a really tight fit in the car boot. DH had to take the wheels off to get it in.

ValiumQueen · 26/11/2012 09:25

My understanding of sleeping through is when you go to bed and wake up and have not had to get up to the little darling, so 11-6 ish. 6 is a lay in for me.

Thank you blonder right back at you for today Smile the gripe water remains unopened. I think it was a growth spurt but I was beyond tired so could not think clearly.

petite no discomfort in my abs after 4 weeks, and I had my tubes done too. I am lifting my 2yo too, and she is a lump. The only discomfort I have is my back - sometimes it goes all tingly. I had that after DD1, but not DD2. The anaesthetist was horrible this time and it really hurt so I think it nicked a nerve. Might be best to get it checked out? Although I do see blonder is still sore at times. Perhaps I am just hard Grin

nervous that is just horrible for you both Thanks

pass I think the trip would be worth it to save any regrets, and it would bring a lot of joy to your aunt. Make sure you allow plenty of time and have a couple of stops to ensure P gets a stretch, feed etc.

First night of intentional co-sleeping last night. With DD2 ill I need all the sleep I can get. Up for 45 mins for feed and change, then settled instantly. Unfortunately he does wake every 30mins or so to have a quick chew. His nails need trimming too - he was squeezing like a cat last night. Ouch!

Passmethecrisps · 26/11/2012 10:07

You are right VQ. We will just take it easy.

You have been quite quiet - sounds like things are starting to fall into place though.

DesperateHousewife21 · 26/11/2012 10:15

Have finally been discharged from the mw, she wasn't concerned about jaundice.

Now have the rest of the day free, I was going to go to a group that I went to with ds today but think we might have to stay in and sleep!

FatimaLovesBread · 26/11/2012 10:27

Morning! Sorry I haven't had two minutes to myself to catch up yet.

Just wanted to give a birth announcement, I'll post a birth story later.

Meredith Jemima was born at 9:03pm on Friday 23rd, her due date. Labour was long and pushing stage took a while. But managed to give birth in the pool with just gas and air. Meredith weighed a healthy 7lb 13oz so not the 9lber I was imagining. I unforetunately ended up with a 3rd degree tear so had to be transferred to the other hospital and stitched up under GA.
As you can imagine I'm a bit sore and emotional but she's so worth it. Daddy was thrown in at the deep end a bit but coped fab.

Think she's starting a growth spurt, fed almost constantly last night. However she's having problems getting a deep latch on my right boob. Constant feelings a bit wearing on my sore bits too Grin

Peaky1 · 26/11/2012 10:39

DS is 16 days old today and its taken me this long to catch up on the thread!

Sorry to read about all of the illnesses and general shitty times. I hope the good times are outweighing it all.

Horsey I hope all has calmed down since your panic attack Sad.

VQ my boy is in totsbots teeny fits! I use disposables at night at the mo because I don't think he's big enough for the size 1 bamboozles and LL bamboo nappies yet. Mind you, he's nearly 9lb now and guzzling with his growth spurt Confused. I did try the OSFA but it was hilariously big...didn't leak though!

I'm in colic camp with many if you. Or trapped wind or whatever you want to call it. Colief has helped hugely. It's ridiculously expensive at £12 for 7ml but the lovely GP put it in prescription. I've never been more happy to hear endless wet farts!!

Titsalinabumsquash · 26/11/2012 10:56

Another night in floods for me Sad

J was feeding constantly and I'm really sore, he will latch and feed for a few seconds then scream, a real angry/pain scream and this continued for 4 hours.
Both breasts felt empty, chewed upon and sore, he was straining like mad but can't seem to poo which is causing him to scream more, he also had a 2oz bottle of expressed milk but the more he drinks the worse his tummy seemed to get, it was really distended.
He's pooed twice since then but it's an ongoing thing, he struggles to go and gets upset so feeds continuously to comfort himself.
In the end DP took him downstairs and walked the floor with him until he eventually fell asleep in the swinging chair. We're all like zombies today, J fed again at 5am and then 7am, he's been asleep since.

My tumble dryer blew up yesterday as well and we're rained in. All good fun. Hmm

I don't know if I'm being ungrateful. Any advice? We seem to be in a vague routine at night - DH feeds him with EBM at 11-11.30. He then wakes me for a feed anywhere from 2.45 to 3.30 and wakes again anywhere from 6.30 to 8.

Annoyingly though night feeds seem to be taking up to 1.5 hours at a time STILL. He's 5 weeks tomorrow and getting toward 9lb so I thought he might have learnt to feed a bit quicker. Any tips on getting him to eat more quickly - at the mo' because he takes so long I'm taking him into the lounge and sticking an episode of Grey's Anatomy on lovefilm instant - but I'm worrying that this is going to set us up for bad habits. I don't change him unless he needs it and the room is darkish but he just seems to take forever to feed. I do tickle him, strip his sleepsuit off and compress my boob. Anything else I should be doing to try to speed him up?

Our middle of the night feed took 2 hours last night.

Evilwater · 26/11/2012 11:19

The dinner went well, he seems nice.
Sorry I can't post more, LO is being very fussy Espally last night and this morning.

Evil

PetiteRaleuse · 26/11/2012 11:23

Valium you sound well 'ard you do Grin

I haven't lifted DD1 since the birth. She's been really good about not being picked up by me actually. My abs were already weak pathetic from last year's surgeries.

Must start trying to build them up again.

horseylady · 26/11/2012 11:28

Pass it's 10miles away so we go in the car. He then either stays in the car seat or goes in the sling. The pushchair easily goes in the boot ( i drive a 4x4) but to be honest I only use it for town shopping. I think when he's bigger ill use it more as a pushchair than pram but it's worth the money as he sleeps at night in it.

Hes really grown!! No way will he make 6 months in our room! He's quite big in the pram already!!!

Pass take a steady drive it'll be nice for your aunt.

Vq glad the co sleeping helped.

Tits - hugs. I was told babies with colic can feed constantly to try to shift the poo. They end up getting full, in pain and the cycle continues. Movement is meant to help.

Yw - no idea about faster feeds is he eating or comfort sucking?

horseylady · 26/11/2012 11:32

Fatima - Welcome!!!

Dh - glad your discharged now how's down below doing?

Nervous - how awful was it a random attack?

Peaky -I'm just a muppet. I get really tired and then just overwhelmed!! We had a mental weekend and I just doubted myself. Dh is wonderful he sits there and just says 'now it's just a panic attack what are you thinking'. It's usually stupid, highly illogical but still not nice!!

kirrinIsland · 26/11/2012 11:36

YW DD1 did that. I lasted til 6 weeks and then gave her a dummy. I was sure she was sucking for comfort not food though. I know dummies aren't for everyone but at the time it changed my life!

Titsalinabumsquash · 26/11/2012 11:36

Can they get colic this early? MIL says no. Confused
I'm not sure why he's struggling to poo, when he does its as runny and explosive as always, it's not like he's got hard or solid stools.
Being naked seems to soothe him a little, but what's best on the feeding front? Do I continue to let him feed on demand and let him get the swollen, sore tummy or do I stop him after he's had both breasts?

YellowWellies · 26/11/2012 11:48

Tits they can get colic from 2 weeks I believe. He sounds a bit like J - though J's not upset by the straining. My HV reckoned that boys strain more due to having rubbish abdominal muscles compared to girls - I think he'll be like his Dad and needs half an hour and a book to do the job....

On the feeding front - if you can get a BF baby to stop before they want - could you let me know how? J won't take any attempt at editing his feeds. I know he actually is feeding rather than comfort sucking as he is swallowing and breast compressions mean he is getting hind milk. But m'eh come on little man I know you were a month early so maybe it's a prem thing... and I should be patient? I tried to artificially shorten his feeds and he ended up waking up every 1.5 hours. Sod that!!!

horseylady · 26/11/2012 12:08

We've just had a major major poo incident. How much poo can one small person create and how can it get everywhere??! Literally everywhere??!!

YellowWellies · 26/11/2012 12:14

Horsey - think our boys are in sync. I changed J after what I thought must be all of it after listening to him noisily fill it for quarter of an hour. Only for him to fill a second nappy right upto the brim just as I was popping his vest poppers closed. Not quite a vest stainer but if I'd have not errrm broken his flow by changing him half way through - am sure it would have been. Unbelievable. He is now asleep looking well smug.

Evilwater · 26/11/2012 12:19

Finally baby evil is having a kip!
He is a nice lad from Newcastle, a bit skinny and down to earth. Not sure if it will last, but it's nice to see her branching, She is a London high fashion, kinda girl.

Baby evil would not settle most of yesterday, all of last nite (we co- slept) and this morning.
Jabs this afternoon. Wish us luck!!!

Evil

horseylady · 26/11/2012 12:20

This was one poo!!! One trump and whoosh poo everywhere!!! We had to stop the feed it was so bad!! He's now lying on my chest, watching me!! I'm trying to decide if his eyes are changing to brown!! I have lots to do but he just want to be with me. Might need to put the sling on!!

PetiteRaleuse · 26/11/2012 12:25

I use dummies. I was against them in principle until I realised what a difference it made to DD1. LO hasn't quite got the hang of her's yet but it does buy me an extra few minutes to prepare her milk.

Maybe that makes me lazy but I'll do pretty much anything which makes life that little bit easier. There are enough reasons to beat ourselves up and worry as it is.

PetiteRaleuse · 26/11/2012 12:27

Evil. The first jabs are worse for you than for the baby. Don't watch and it'll be fine.

Evilwater · 26/11/2012 12:32

Oh and baby evil has a massive poo, every morning. No nappy rash! Congrats detective!!!
Still suffering with colic here, as for the "it dosn't exist" must have been a man.
Speaking of men, DP is a little better but still not right.

Sorry if I've forgotten anyone, oh he's waking up again....
What I would give for a hot cuppa
Evil

YellowWellies · 26/11/2012 12:43

We've tried dummies but he's not impressed.... boob or nowt (or DH's little finger)

DesperateHousewife21 · 26/11/2012 13:00

Horsey- it seems to have got better all by itself, no idea what caused it but can't have been anything nasty.

I've got an extremely tired but extremely stubborn 2 year old today. He was woken up last night by dd then got up at 6am but will NOT have a nap. Bloody child.
