Cat that is reassuring. Dh says that my abs all hurt last year a few weeks after all the surgery was over.

No fever Valium, and no NHS Direct here. Will see how it is in the morning and go see my ob gyn if it's any worse.

Thank you so much. I feel a little like a rabbit in headlights about some of this which i know if I thought non exhausted about would be logical.

So his birth. Well I was 40 weeks and had a midwife appointment at which she told me as they all had he was well engaged and I was close to labour. However still measuring 2/3 weeks ahead so she would send me to my consultant 2 days later just for a check up as we were anxious about size and when he would arrive as DP had to leave on 26th.

So on the 23rd we went to consultant got in there about 12.15. Supervisor of midwifed saw us first and said I was we'll engaged and she felt nearly ready to go. Consultant came in, yep very well engaged she said too...lets do a sweep as I think it will enough to send you into labour. She did a very good sweep, entire mucus plug dissolved in her hand. Then she said she wanted to get the scanner. At which point she said I want to check he's not breech. DP and I joked jut like our baby to be being difficult. Then the scan revealed a head by my ribs and a very well engaged bum. She said the issue is I had started to go into labour in that half hour and we weren't leaving te hospital. Baby would be born that afternoon. We had no stuff with us, I was in jeans and a tshirt.


We decided to try and see if we could turn baby quickly to try and avoid emcs. They sent me to the central delivery suite to await the turning consultant. They only had room in triage. They hooked me up to monitors and in the hour it took for the consultant my contractions were 5/6 minutes apart. They couldn't give me anything for the pain as they needed me to have nothing to try and turn him. Then they attempted it between contractions. I managed about 3/4 of an hour of them trying when DP made them stop. I couldn't take the agony I was sobbing and even the registrar was saying to the consultant can't she have some pain relief. In the end DP sent everyone out of the room and was brilliant with me. At that point they came back in and decision was made, 35 mins and we would be delievering in theatre by emcs. They handed DP some scrubs and that was it, I was wheeled down and Luc arrived about an hour later. So from an routine consultant appointment to him arriving in the world took just under 6 hours. Poor mite had no clothes and was wrapped in blankets and a hat. Mum and DP were ace and I am a bit shell shocked and so is Luc.

We are home now. He will take another 2 weeks to unfurl his legs and get a bit more to grips with the world. We have a few feeding issues. I'm expressing all his feeds but he us my perfect little man.

Sooooo depressing feeling this way. I know I'm not, I just need regain my fitness, which will come and I will take it steady as I'm not ready to do loads yet. I know I'm still healing, I can probably up the ante slightly. Just odd how I've gone from feeling ok about my body to wanting to tone up instantly.

I had a bad night last night. A fed LOADS, filled 5 nappies one after the other, threw up a whole feed over himself, got through 3 changes of clothes & wouldn't go to sleep until 3.30. He hadn't slept well the night before and I was exhausted. The cold he has is making things so difficult - he is puking ages after a feed, due to congestion I think.

Tits I got the close carrier from amazon. A seems to like it & its quite comfy... Might get a wrap instead, and send it back, but can't decide!!!

Pikz to heat up breast milk just pop the bottle of milk, with a lid on it, into a big mug filled with hot water (doesn't need to be boiling) so that it acts like a bain marie and heats up the milk without creating hot spots - which you'd get if you microwaved it. The milk only needs to feel lukewarm to the touch it doesn't need to get hot. Also if the milk has separated in the fridge give the bottle a gentle whirl when warmed up - don't shake it to mix it.

Hello everyone. I've not been around as had no time! A baby and a 3 year old is no fun!

We are doing well, DS was weighed today and he is 10lb exactly at 3w5 days old. Up from 7lb9 at birth. He is a milk monster! We are BF and expressing occasional feeds. Had lots of trouble with BF, including thrush :-( Finding it really hard to feed on my left side too and HV suggested expressing from that side all the time. Not sure how that'd work.

tits if you are getting to the point of losing it, wake your partner, or just put baby in a safe place for a few minutes. The early weeks are so hard, and even though you love the child more than anything in the world they can seem to grow horns after dark. This too will pass, I promise

I am so relieved to be nearing 5 weeks with my last child ever. I am old horsey I should be a doting grandma being able to pass the little cherubs back at will, like my friends! I would not, however, change my situation for the world, although would have swapped him for a puppy a few weeks back

petite I'm 6 weeks post cs tomorrow, and I've been having some ab pains too. For about 2 weeks I've been having a burning pain right up near my ribs whenever I've say lifted the pushchair or something that was definitely muscular. For the last couple of days though I've been having having muscular aches in the lower abdomen and they definitely feel like you describe, like I've been doing sit ups. DH thinks that it is a good thing, showing that the lower abdomen muscles are starting to come back together and that they are being exercised by just moving around. I hope that's true and not just some placatory thing he has made up to make me feel better!

petite I think a quick call to NHS24 is called for. With your history of abdo problems and recent section, I think it would be best. Hope all is well. Do you have a fever? I seem to recall you live in France? Do you have an equivalent to NHS24?

pikz just put bottle in a jug of hot water for a couple of minutes to take the edge off chill. Shake and test temp obviously

I will post birth story soon but I need some quick help/advice. We are havin to express and feed for various reasons and I just wondered if I store it in the fridge should I warm it first an if so how?

Sympathies to those whose babies have long nails. I butchered DS's super long nails the day we came home from hospital as he and I were both scratched. However, I had failed to properly notice that his finger skin was attached to the nails on each finger, so I made him bleed on each finger. Bad, evil mummy.

We went for a walk today using the tomy sling I picked up at a local boot sale. Was lovely. I like having him snuggled to me. Also weighed him and at 17 days old he weighs 9lb 13oz, up from 8lb 7oz at birth. So happy about feeding etc.

Now, if only we could get some decent sleep tonight... Wishing everyone sleep filled, non-colicky nights... See you in the small hours!

tits I've got a mei tai - cheap version off ebay - nice nd snug , just use the frog position for a newborn

I've got the Kari me. Easy to wrap round you, just need to make sure its tight enough. Ds loves it!!! Awake or asleep he's quite happy snuggled up!!

Tits we use the Close Caboo which is 99% guaranteed to calm him almost instantly.
