In kitchens to kill bacteria, the temperature should be 72 degrees or over. We generally do not accept 72 degrees, we'd want higher. So I do not cool for 30 minutes. I leave it for 5 decant to a bottle, add formula and cook rapidly. Overnight I use premade stuff, out I use premade stuff.

We went out last night! It was the riding club presentation. Ds wore his little suit and looked ultra smart!! I won quite a few of the overall prizes, which was a shock!! Including a sash (I will admit to nearly crying then!!)
Good night here, only one night tine feed at 3.50 the up again at 7am!

Titsalinabumsquash · 25/11/2012 08:48

Gosh will someone please tell my hair that I'm not pregnant anymore! There is so flipping much of it, it's really thick naturally but got to lion mane proportions whilst pregnant and is still growing! It's halfway down my back and I look like cousin it. I'm not sure how I'll juggle a hairdresser and J at once. Hmm

PetiteRaleuse · 25/11/2012 09:01

Great night here. She slept from 10.45 to 3.30, the from 4 to half 6, andr from 7 to 9.45 our time. Witten down it doesn't look that brilliant, but it feels great :)

Belgrano · 25/11/2012 09:03

Omg the sweats!! Anyone else smell like a hamster cage in the mornings? I STINK!

not normally a sweaty person at all- the opposite in fact I'm normally shivering and piling on layers but now im sleeping in my 18 C bedroom with the duvet low down me to keep DD safe and a light dressing gown as otherwise the sweat makes me freeze and just pouring sweat out all night long!! Nice.

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/11/2012 09:06

I need help! I've got a huge swollen inner labia Confused it hurts and doesn't smell great. It's infected isn't it? Dh ha a look and said its def swollen.

I'm seeing mw tomo so will tell her but in the meantime is there anything I can do to help it?

Belgrano · 25/11/2012 09:08

Ps titsalina the lion mane made me laugh out loud!

And welcome detective! Finally-yay! i couldnt see- did you post a birth story? I wanted to know if you got your home birth. Congrats anyway.

And we still have a horrid hacking cough here (LO not me). its heartbreaking to watch and she finds it exhausting. It also means feeding every 2 hrs as she gets so thirsty with all the mouth open breathing from her Blocked nose. How long do Colds take to bugger off?

Belgrano · 25/11/2012 09:10

Ooh Desperate, that sounds horrid. How long since you delivered? Dis you tear that labia? Can you go to out of hours today? IME you want to
Get antibiotics ASAP if you need them as thy take another day or two
To
Work.

StuntNun · 25/11/2012 09:25

DH21 can you put a cool pack on it and take ibuprofen to bring the swelling down?

Belgrano yup me too not sure about the hamster bit is it caused by hormones?

Petite I think if you get one complete sleep cycle in then you're much better off the next day.

EVERYONE remember to keep doing your pelvic floor exercises Grin

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/11/2012 09:27

It's been 16 days since I had her and no didnt have any tears at all.

I could understand this happening the day after but over two weeks? It looks like an angry red maggot!

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/11/2012 09:43

Ill take some paracetamol don't have any cool packs though.
I switched from maternity pads to normal san pads yesterday but it wouldn't be that would it?

Maybe some warm salt water would help, that helped my stitches with ds.

GTbaby · 25/11/2012 10:02

Dh maybe put a maternity pad in freezer? Sprinkle some water on it first ? Make shift ice pack lol.

Chunkychicken · 25/11/2012 10:18

The sweats are caused by your body getting rid of all the extra fluid you had when preg - your blood volume nearly doubles I think by the end, so all that water has to go somewhere.Hmm

DH def sounds infected. I'd see if you can get to an OOH GP as your MW will prob just say 'see your GP' & you could be taking antibiotics already. It might be a blocked pore, a cyst or due to a tear you didn't know you had. Could be an allergy to the pads??! Can you switch back or have you used those pads before?

belgrano got a little snot monster here too, although the saline spray, antibiotics & Paracetomol seem to be helping.

We had a feed just before midnight then again at half 1, then 3, then 6 then 9.45. Not huge amounts of sleep between, esp.as he was going 3-4hrs at night until recently, but better than being the hospital at 5am & getting about 2.5hrs sleep total like the night before.

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/11/2012 10:19

Ahh good idea! It doesn't hurt as much as it did but still swollen and gross.

CharleeWarlee · 25/11/2012 11:19

Does anyone have any advice on blocked milk ducts? Zara-Louise is a week today and both breasts went back to normal yesterday but my right one has gone like a bowling ball again and is so painful!! Have massaged and used hot flannel. Any other good ideas?

Passmethecrisps · 25/11/2012 12:03

nervous how awful. I am so sorry - I hope he is on the mend. Are the police involved? My DH was assaulted once completely randomly and it really affected us both. My DH is such a softy it seemed to unfair.

sophia I plan to make up bottles in advance. I understand the guidelines and the reasoning for them so I will adapt them to suit our lives knowing that my home is hygienic and the fridge is highly effective. I think understanding is the key.

horsey sounds like you had a fabulous night.

Crikey - I started this post at 8:30am!

horseylady · 25/11/2012 12:19

Pass I think that's the key, just be safe. I'm just ultra paranoid about ds getting a stomach bug. Which is odd when I have a stomach of steal!! I will eventually make bottles up in advance I'm sure. It's much more sensible and the companies seemto say you can do that just use them within 24 hours!!

It was a good night!! I also went for a good ride this morning!! Horse was a bit loopy but we were ok!! High winds, freshly clipped horse was not the best combination!!

Chunkychicken · 25/11/2012 13:43

Charlee take paracetomol if needed, start the feed on your right boob, massage towards your nipple as you feed, hand express/massage between feeds.

Think the key to making up formula in advance is using hot enough water to sterilise the formula & then cooling the bottles very quickly to stop bacteria growth. Storing at the back and bottom of the fridge once cooled quickly is fine. Obviously if warming up, use immediately & discard any left after the feed.

NervousAt20 · 25/11/2012 14:32

Thank you ladies, just got home from the hospital since 4 am and they've took DP to theatre Sad he's got 1 broken hand and torn tendons in the other so they need repairing, he's in so much pain bless him it's awful seeing him that way. I'm so worried about him

PetiteRaleuse · 25/11/2012 15:00

Nervous what a horrible thing to happen to you, especially at what should be such a happy time. I hope your DP feels better soon and the surgery is successful.

We've just got back from a trip to the local farm. The fresh air has completely knocked out both DDs so they are having a long nap. Took us ages to get out the door though, preparing the bag, waiting til a moment when neither of them were hungry, making dirty nappies etc.. Note to self: must get organised.

LO is again much better today. Feeding almost like she was before she was ill, and no longer as clingy - it's much easier to put her down to sleep.

YellowWellies · 25/11/2012 15:46

We're definitely having a growth spurt - have been stuck on the sofa feeding all day. Darling DH has done washing, hoovering, cleaning, cooked a roast dinner and let me sleep in. He is a total legend xxxxx I'm feeling so useless though - am just a milk bar at the mo!!!!

YellowWellies · 25/11/2012 15:50

DH managed to make perfect crackling nom nom nom

Evilwater · 25/11/2012 16:00

ValiumQueen · 25/11/2012 16:39

YW you are sustaining a little life so hardly useless.

DD2 ill again. Grr.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 25/11/2012 16:47

DH ewwww that doesn't sound very nice, could you put something in the bath? I switched to normal towels as well over the last few days as I thought they would be better as more absorbent that mat pads. Does anyone have any wisdom on this?

Nanny is on her way back to the airport Sad and DH is back to work tomorrow, no s'more cosying up with my family, when all nighters don't matter. Back to real life. Feeling a bit tearful.

Also we are entering the colic days. Roll on 8 pm....not.
