I loved kate's thread name but thought we needed a birthday theme for this one. We'll soon have 6 weeks of birthdays to celebrate!

thekatsatonthematt · 18/11/2012 23:21

Hi all. Will catch up properly in the week as we are currently without WiFi, but when I lie on the floor of Seb's room I can get a signal on my phone!!!!

We're moved, looks like there may be new tenants for the other house, and assuming the man that interviewed me wasn't talking out of his backside I should get a job offer this week. Things are looking up.

Just sent dh out to find someone selling calpol though. A new house (again!)and a teething baby full of cold DO NOT MIX!!!

LittleMissFlustered · 19/11/2012 03:28

Anyone got a sleepy-bopper they can loan me? Octoboy is not approving of unconscious tonight:(

'grats to Mopsy and positive pompommery for houses jobs and calpol acquisition for team kat :)

Right. Off to try again.

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/11/2012 06:29

Congrats Mopsy

Aethel Your teeny pink hose came In handy last night. Although did mange a full nights sleep from both my girls from 8:30 and they are still asleep Grin

CheungFun · 19/11/2012 09:02

Oh dear non sleeping babies and illness all round!

DS went to bed at 7pm and woke up twice before I went to bed, then woke up at midnight, 3am and 5.30am. I really hope he gets back into his normal sleep routine again soon. I love my sleep!!

Apart from the night wakings though I can't complain! He is now down to 2 bottles a day, 3 meals a day and a mid morning and mid afternoon snack! Still on 2 naps a day as well. This could be why he doesn't have many tricks....all his time is spent eating and sleeping and trying to walk lol!

Anyway hope everyone has a good Monday :)

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/11/2012 09:31

I want to know what your Christmas traditions are? Have you started new ones for your DC, are you carrying on family traditions?

Well I have always brought Darcie a new pair of PJ's to wear after her bath on xmas eve, which I will now do for Sky as well. I have carried this one on as is a tradition by both our parents.

This is one i've started for my DC myself and that is to buy a tree ornament for them each year so by the time they move out and have a home & tree of their own they will have enough ornaments to put on it.

Figgygal · 19/11/2012 09:50

No xmas traditions here must think of some!!

Ds has a cough again it seems like he has had 1 for months he woke me up once last night but woke dh up 3/4 times, he doesnt seem to wake himself but its not nice for him. When i took him to dr b4 she said some babies just cough more than others he isnt unwell so dont want to take him back for a 3rd time!!

Im working from home this am as have pm off to take ds for an eye check as dh had a squint as a child and so they need to check figgyboy out, am going to try get him weighed at hv first as he is so big i do worry about him shooting off the chart altogether but the last time i took him i was waiting over an hour, clinic at 2 eye check at 2.45 in another surgery across the road, dont fancy my chances but may as well give it a go can speak to them about his cough!! I tried to move his eye check 10+ times but no-one ever answered the phone and it was organised at main eye hospital in town rather than the local clinic where the appt is so not only have i to take a half day from work have to pay the cm the whole day when im picking up 4hrs early grr but needs must.

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/11/2012 10:09

The other tradition I have started is Darcie always had a new party dress to wear for Xmas & Boxing Day. Smile

CheungFun · 19/11/2012 11:08

No traditions here either except that we eat chocolate before 9am....start as we mean to go on :o

CheungFun · 19/11/2012 11:10

Oh I should have said that we have bought DS a stocking this year and Father Christmas will fill it up for him!

We have just bought one big present for his birthday (Christmas Eve) and one big present for Christmas Day. When DS is a bit older FatherChristmas will probably provide a couple of other presents as well :)

jigglebum · 19/11/2012 12:54

Morning everyone. I had a lovely weekend away with the girls, walking and relaxing. DH had a bit of a hard time with the DCs and feel I definitely owe him a weekend break! Aethel you appear to be friends with one of these girls on FB so you will be able to see the photos as she posted them!!

RE Christmas - we all have stockings and pile into our bed in the morning to open them all and we also eat chocolate before 9am! We are also quite strict about holding off on the big presents till later in the day. WE always go out for a walk sometime in the day. DHs family has more as he is half Scandinavian but we are not sure how many to incorporate into our Xmas. We have decided not to open presents on Xmas eve as they did but there are some other nice things we should perhaps do.

DS spent his early days with many ear infections - we generally found once it had perforated he was ok.

LittleMissFlustered · 19/11/2012 12:59

Breaking news:

Medical professional listens to baby's chest and admits there's actual wheezing! Further astonishment when said medical bod prescribes a course of preventative medication and discusses action plan for managing the lungs. Mother falls off planet in shock!

OiMissus · 19/11/2012 14:47

Hurrah for eventual recognition LMF! Hope this helps with Octoboys chest - and sleep!
It got worse for us last night. He had his bottle, and seemed to settle, but at 20:30 he woke, coughing, got upset. DH went to soothe him and got covered in vomit. I went to help out, and yep, you guessed it, then got covered in vomit (he saved the most for mummy). Hmm
We all washed and he came back upstairs (we "live" upstairs and go down to bed), he eventually slept on me, and then we brought the spare cot (get us!) into our room again. And then he crawled into bed with us. And he coughed a lot into my face, and we didn't get much sleep.
We went to the docs this morning. It has all changed, there is a pharmacy in reception, and this is great. what is even greater is the incredibly sexy young doctor who checked out BOi's chest. (mummy starts wheezing in hope... ahem...!) Phwoar indeed! Why was BOi is hand-me downs, and why was I in scruffs with no make up on?! (It's my 2nd wedding anniversary today, BTW Grin)
Anyway, BOi just has a common cold. Nothing to worry about. We just need to keep an eye on him and get him eating again. He had a little bit at breakfast and lunch at least.
Apparently DH is cooking me something special and fancy for dinner tonight.
I'm off to France tomorrow and have so much to do beforehand it is Incroyable! It's my meeting and I haven't started some of the presentations and preparation for the tasks I'll be setting. And I've so much other stuff to do too.
And I've not even started to pack.
Must get to it. Back to budgets.
But first spin that coffee hose this-a-way!

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/11/2012 15:11

Happy Anniversary Mr&MrsOi Hope BOi gets better soon.

AnAirOfHopeForSnow · 19/11/2012 16:50

lines up for coffee

Im planning on making Hope a castle cake for her birthday next Monday. Im stressing!

Figgygal · 19/11/2012 17:51

Bloody hell lost my post Angry

Basically was saying good news to lmf and oi and happy anniversary to oi!!

Figgyboy is still on the weight charts now closer to 98th than 99th centile which is a bit better Grin. He also has no sign of a squint and can see 3d pictures which was very cute he grabbed the card and was pointing to the hidden pics ......all very clever!!

Birthday cakes r definitely for buying in my house the restaurant manager at work will even make 1 to order so might go for that option Blush

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/11/2012 18:15

My bean Darcie has come home from school with a migraine and already vomited once Sad is tucked up in bed now after a calpol fast melt so take her migraine away Sad

Sky is also in bed, DH is about to go out. So a chill out and pasta for 1 tonight.

jigglebum · 19/11/2012 20:49

Happy anniversary oi

Freya being a pain in the arse about going to bed tonight. My fault as I let her have too late a sleep but she needed it. She only had 15 mins as I woke her up but it is enough to mean she is not tired enough to relax and settle at bed time. Tried at 7pm and tried again at 8pm. Had to resort to 2 mins of crying, go back in, try to settle, leave another 2 mins etc but DH can't cope with that and says I make it too stressful so I have left him to it. He thinks it would be easier if he just put her to bed so I have said I am very happy to let him do that every night, as at the moment I do it every night and it can be stressful. DH might have slightly less patience if he has to do it more than once or twice! He was happy enough to do controlled crying with DS at this age (and that was leaving him a lot longer than 2 mins but it did work) but seems Freya can do no wrong in his eyes already. I can see this causing us issues (well even more issues than we already have!).

Think I might just have an early night.

NorthernChinchilla · 19/11/2012 21:41

Hah! DS laughs in the face of goodwill wishes and now has hand, foot and mouth to go with his weeping perforated ear infection Confused!

Thought he was rather spotty, and now it's been confirmed. Outbreak at nursery. At least he's entirely happy with everything, was fine at nursery.

Yay for mospy, hurrah for your Doc LMF, 20/20 for figgyboy, cuddles for BOi, happy anniversary to Oi!
It's been a very long working day, so it's a short post Smile!

NorthernChinchilla · 19/11/2012 21:42

Cuddles for Darcie too, sorry!

LittleMissFlustered · 19/11/2012 22:46

Long day was long! School, doctors, quick brew, trouser acquisition, school, lookseeing of new thing at school, two parent evening things, blood donation session... Tired!

Octoboy gets his new medicine in Wednesday. Apparently they can disrupt evening sleep patterns. I laughed a bit hysterically and asked if sleep patterns came on prescription also!:o

OiMissus · 20/11/2012 06:59

Ha ha ha lmf, lets hope the "broken sleep" pattern is affected and he sleeps soundly from Weds. Grin
Had a v nice anniversary. No. 2 in modern parlance is China. So DH decorated the kitchen with Chinese lanterns and cooked me a fabulous Chinese meal - I don't normally like Chinese but it was gorgeous!
Off to France now. Sad
