I am keeping my fingers quietly crossed for you ecuse Smile

Why do kids perk up once you get them in front of a doctor?! Glad M and J are ok after their A&E visits.

No, I don't have any of that suncream Fizz. Do you have an Avon rep near you? Or maybe Ebay? Defo go away on holiday. It is so much easier with just one.

I will also be keeping my fingers crossed for you Frakk.

We took the boys to the Natural History Museum on Saturday (we met my bil, niece and nephew there), we all had a fab time and managed to spend 6 hours there! The time just seemed to fly by. We then all zipped off to Islington to meet my sis for dinner. I loved Islington, if I had to live in London (and was minted!) I would live there, it's like a small town. We then drove home and the boys quickly fell asleep in the back.

Ecuse hope the house thing comes off.

Currently trying to catch up on strictly myself.
Though did end up reading a downtown spoiler earlier Sad

Still no Internet and posting on phone is tedious.

JKS, who is your Internet provider?? Can we picket them or something? To get them to fix you up?

Remember I posted the story about the rocks pebbles and sand in a jar a while back for someone's ds struggling with starting school. I'm sorry I can't remember who it was exactly. One of my friends on Facebook linked to it so I thought I would post it here.

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.. The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed..

'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things-your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions-and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.. The sand is everything else---the small stuff.

If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and mow the lawn.

Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked.' The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.

I think my scar is opening up. I did a small yawn stretch last night and felt it pull. Wonder when the docs will stop plying me with pills and do something about it.

Report
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 18/10/2012 10:16

kitty what does the skin look like? You should be able to massage the scar and surrounding area gently which will break down scar adhesions and get everything knitting back together. The pull was probably some adhered tissue breaking - which is ok.
Is it still sore and infected?

Report
Kittycatcat · 18/10/2012 10:40

It's not sore but it's seeping and v red and looks loose in three places.

Report
GlaikitFizZombie · 18/10/2012 11:47

Seeping doesn't sound good. Is it bloody seeping or icky seeping? When they prescribed the abs did they send a swab off for testing to make sure you were on the right ones for the infection you have? I was give a general ab then when the swab came back got another prescription for the correct one.

Can you call the GP and ask for an emergency appointment?

Report
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 18/10/2012 12:54

I was going to mention getting it swabbed as well kitty. I hope you can get an appt with your GP.

I have been to the dentist and can't feel my face. I am feeling sorry for myself, I bloody hate the dentist.

I should be cleaning the house ready for hosting a coffee morning tomorrow, but I can't be arsed.

fraktion · 18/10/2012 16:34

Oh kitty that doesn't sound good. Hope you've manager to get an appt and they've actually down something.

I had an AIBU money in the pharmacy. I was buying a pregnancy test, DS in tow, and the pharmacy assistant decided to give me loud instructions on doing it first thing or after not peeling for a while. First it's fairly obvious DS is mine so one can assume I've done it before, second what I there had been people I knew in there? It's a small pharmacy that I only use because it's literally at the end of the street so high likelihood of there being someone there! Angry

Testing again tomorrow and hoping it works this time. I'm scared in case I don't 'pass' even though I know it only shows what is ready the case.

Fingers crossed frak

Useless doc didn't take a swab cos she said it was too dry which it now isn't.

Long time no posts, but I've been lurking. Had a surprise day off today as M threw up at nursery yesterday. Of course she's fine today and we've been to the park. Had another viewer for our house too, she seemed positive but it's the top of her budget.

Hope your scar is ok kitty.

Any news Frak?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/10/2012 16:13

Nice to see you chilli, fingers crossed today's viewer was the one Smile

Don't keep us in suspense Frakk Grin

Hope the scar is better today kitty

We had the first 'mine' from I today. Wonder who he got that from Hmm

Poor/lucky you depending which way you cut it chilli!

BFN for me. But no period and no sign of one. I've spent 18months not wanting another one and now I really, really do and my sodding period won't come back :(

ILTMI we've had me/my/mine for a while. I'm not sure where he learnt it but M has a strongly developed sense of self Hmm

In other news, in an effort to integrate and make local friends I went to what I can only describe as a mother's meeting yesterday, a bit like the Mother's Union I suppose. I now seem to have ended up as administrator/person in charge of said group because I like admin and no one else wanted to do it. This has better get me Brownie points with St Peter! I also tried to make contact with the local LLL person. I say local, she's at least 50km away. No reply. How long before I suggest setting up a really local one and who so you reckon I contact for that?

Frak - hope the tests are just playing silly buggers and you are actually pg.

Have internet back Grin!

General wave all round :)

Hi everyone!

Frak - are you feeding during the night? I did manage to get pregnant with DS2 while still feeding DS1, but luteal phase can be a bugger. Are you definitely ovulating?

ILTMI - we get 'Meeeeeee' which covers 'that is mine, I want some of that, look at me'. Delivered at volume Grin

kitty - I would insist on a swab. It is bloody shocking the standard of wound care after c-sections :( After DS1 I had so many problems, in the end my Dad hauled me into his department (he is a dermatologist) and his nurses sorted my scar - alongside the correct anti B's from a swab they took and the lab processed. We had to circumvent my GP entirely.
Second time round I was luckier with the healing but also shouted very loudly at the first sign of a problem.
I really hope you get it sorted, I really feel for you it is utterly shit :(

Ali we are sort of hit and miss night feeding but nothing between getting up and bedtime most days. Really hoping that actually having his bed means we can put him into it and might result in no more night feeds. I thought we'd cracked it but then we relapsed and DH was hideously unsupportive so I stopped being arsed.

Someone's just posted on our first antenatal thread, dredging it up from the depths into actives.

I thought I'd gone back in time for a minute (being woken at 3am every night will do that to a person).

I've just reread my first few posts and remembered how awful early pg was.

Erm, good luck Frak!

I just woke to A rooting my face. I picked him up at 30 to resettle him and promptly fell asleep. Oops. Still. I got longer between feeds than I prob would have in his cot. He's doing v well. He weighs 9 lb 11 now. Got his tt appointment tomorrow.

I never could sleep properly with F in our bed. But if it works for you, carry on!

I did it again by accident after his 530 feed. I feel much more awake today but I'd rather he slept in his own bed.
