You have B well trained there fizz. I need to teach M to bring me glasses of wine Xmas Grin.

Starshaped · 21/12/2012 17:38

We had a better night too. She went to sleep without a whimper. Fingers crossed for tonight now. She had a super snooze at lunchtime though, so I fear it might not be so easy later...

Xmas Grin at B Fizz. Love it!

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 22/12/2012 13:45

I need beer today!

B is really poorly :(, barely slept all night, thankfully dh was on night duty so I at least got some decent sleep in my own bed.

Cough keeps him awake, he is like a half shut knife. Eyes nodding while we snuggle on the sofa but dare he fall asleep. He isn't eating, so he must feel miserable. He is feeling really hot, but his temp is op hovering around 37.5 . I'm dosing with calpol and calprofen. He is slathered in Vick, I'm boiling the kettle in his room before he has a nap and trying to keep the temp down in there too. What else can I try? I've never seen him like this before. :(

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/12/2012 13:50

Hello everyone!

Fizz you poor things. It is bloody miserable. I've not had an unbroken sleep for about a month - first T and then DS1 have been poorly, and both in and out of our bed. DS1 was off school for 7 days!

What does his chest sound like? When he breathes, does his skin suck in around his collarbone or under his breastbone? Is he drinking?

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 22/12/2012 14:31

He is drinking. From a cup with a straw as a treat! He has a rattle when he breathes but I wouldn't say it was a wheeze. I don't think the skin is sucking. I've finally managed to get him to sleep. For how long I don't know. But I'll check when he wakes. What does it mean if its sucking in? Chest infection?

One of his little friends had croup a couple of weeks ago. Is that contagious?

Kittycatcat · 22/12/2012 22:20

Poor b :-(. Is he any better?
Did u get to watch the strictly final?

MrsWajs · 23/12/2012 01:08

Aww Fizz poor B, R has had the very same thing going on since Tuesday. I got my mum to take her to Drs on Fri since it was the weekend and christmas coming up but they said it's just a bad cold. Like you I've never seen her with a cold like this before!! She's getting a bit better now though. Hope B feels better soon.

In other news ERTD still has not made an appearance, technically on CD35 now but have been cramping on and off like mad since CD32 so resisting the urge to test yet. In fact I really want to resist it until at least the 27th so I can have a bloody good drink on Christmas day!! Does that make me a terrible mother?!

I doubt I'll get back online til after the festivities now anyway so just wanted to wish you all a merry christmas and hope santa is good to you all Xmas Grin

Kittycatcat · 23/12/2012 02:54

Fingers crossed for you mrsw. What will power. Let us know as so as you test.
Hope R and B are better before Santa comes.

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 23/12/2012 07:30

Did kitty! Slightly disappointed if I'm honest. I was rooting for dani or Kim!

We had a whole night after a surprise appearance from b.his cough is still bad, but he seems a bit brighter. I have an itchy throat now though!

Looking hopeful mrsw! Good luck!

ILikeToHoHoHo · 23/12/2012 07:40

Glad to hear B sounds like he is on the mend.

Fingers crossed for you MrsW.

I was a bit deflated with Strictly too. I thought Louis' show dance was amazing, but overall I don't think he was the best dancer. However, as an homage I have asked dh to walk around the house in just his running tights Xmas Grin

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 23/12/2012 08:10

Xmas Grin iLike! I think it was those tights wot won it! I know DvO was never popular but she and Kim were the best dancers. But I'm glad for flavia. And her swishy hair!

Kittycatcat · 23/12/2012 08:20

Same here. Denise was the better dancer and I loved her show dance.

Glad b is feeling better. Hope it's not coming your way.

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 23/12/2012 09:20

Fizz that sounds like the cold F had a couple of weeks ago. It's the only thing that we've kept him home for all year. All hot and cuddly. I think the depressed-ness and temperature lasted a couple of days, before giving way to the usual coughing snot-monster (who we sent to nursery, naturally!).

Neither DH or I caught it, that I'm aware of. We've probably already encountered that one.

MrsW I'm amazed at your self control! Enjoy your Christmas, and I hope you've got an exciting New Years not so surprise!

We're 3 days into the first proper family Xmas break. This is the first time in 8 years that DH hasn't had to work. It's lush! And F is so excited by everything!

We've been prepping with lots of Christmas stories, now we need to start the whole "Father Christmas is coming TOMORROW!" part!

Oh, but heard yesterday my nephew has The Pox. I think we're not going to intentionally infect F, but not go to to much effort to avoid, hopefully DN's spots have scabbed.

We're off for the Big Trip tonight, so have a lovely one everyone!

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 23/12/2012 12:21

Put the oven on to self clean. And it's broken! :(

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 23/12/2012 13:23

Shock oh no, Fizz, did you manage to resuscitate it?

Just heard DSis & DNephew have flu (on top of Pox).

So hoping DM isn't incubating it too.

I'm half wanting to abandon the whole trip and hole-up at home. But the GPs will already probably bail out, and DM will have done the prep. Can't not got and potentially leave her alone (if DSis & DN don't go round).

What are the chances they'll be better by Tuesday and DM won't come down with it?

If it's flu, I haven't had a jab this year Sad

ILikeToHoHoHo · 23/12/2012 13:32

If it really is flu I would think that they won't be better for Xmas Day, but if a horrid heavy cold they will make it. Fingers crossed it's the latter.

How about you go tomorrow rather than today? That would lessen exposure

How is your oven Fizz? If it isn't working, try googling the model and make and see if it's a known glitch and if it can be easily fixed. My poor neighbour had an oven engineer over yesterday. I should imagine it was panic mode there - they have 5 children! Fingers crossed you can fix it.

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 23/12/2012 13:38

Is it flu flu, or just a bad cold though? Flu jab won't protect you from the cold anyway. How is your mum feeling? If she's starting to feel yuk, maybe offer her a out. Do you need to go today, could you wait until tomorrow see how everyone else is feeling?

I'm trying to distract myself until the oven has cooled down properly. I'm not holding out much hope.

Oh and the road between here and Aberdeen is closed in places due to flooding!

mrsW hope you are dry!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 23/12/2012 14:28

I don't know. DSis did say if it wasn't for DN she wouldn't be out of bed. (She's a single parent). DN was puking overnight.

It sounds pretty flu-like. Sad

We're planning on driving tonight, after bed time, in the hope F sleeps, thereby minimising the potential for travel sickness.

I'll text DM...

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 23/12/2012 16:53

Good news, DSis reckons it's not actual flu, just another virus. DN is apparently now running around like a looney again!

Hopefully all should be well when we see them on Tuesday, or at least just DSis if DN is still poxy!

Car packed, dinner contributions cooked and cooling, just dinner and pjs to organise before we load up.

ILikeToHoHoHo · 23/12/2012 18:37

Hurrah. Safe journey UBW and Merry Christmas Xmas Smile

Starshaped · 23/12/2012 19:22

Yes, safe journey UBW.

Any news on the oven Fizz? And how do I get myself one of these self cleaning ovens?! Ours is in desperate need of a clean and I just can't face it. Luckily, I'm not in charge of Christmas dinner, so it can be postponed until after the festive period!

Exciting news MrsW. I like your thinking about waiting until after the big day is POAS. I am gagging for a glass of champagne and fully intend on making the most of the booze this Christmas after two years of being pregnant and BF!

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 23/12/2012 19:52

Still fecked star :(

I am hoping one of 3 thing happens! Santa sends a elf over night and its fixed in the morning. The warranty people call in the morning and say they are sending a oven fixer round right away and failing those two, my dad rides in on his white steed (my mum) and fixes what he thinks is wrong with it. The door is still locked, so how the get it out of the housing unit is still baffling me.

Otherwise it's beer can chicken on the BBQ!

Safe journey UBW!

Starshaped · 23/12/2012 19:57

:( Fizz - what a fecking Christmas nightmare. Fingers crossed that Daddy Fizz (or Santa's elf) is able to sort it out tomorrow.

ILikeToHoHoHo · 23/12/2012 20:24

I have confidence in your dad. Dads make everything better Smile Ovens aren't really sophisticated so i reckon he can do it

I probably won't drink much on the big day at the in laws. They have, um, simple tastes. Think Black Tower, Blue Nun etc. Å´e take nice wine, they put it in their rack and open up their (room temperature) Liebfraumilch

The past few years we've taken along some reasonably pricey Champers. When the in laws took a sip, pulled a face and put lemonade in it I thought dh was going to have a shit fit! ha ha!

Boxing day will be with my family and there will always be a full glass - bottoms up! No pregnancy, no bf'ing or getting up in the night (touch wood) to get in the way.

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 23/12/2012 21:28

We're here!

Sorry to hear your oven hasn't recovered, Fizz. I reckon you can at least demand a consolation hamper from the manufacturers. We can help you write a Strongly Worded Letter.

Hope your dad comes to the rescue, and your mum doesn't mind being ridden! Grin
