Shiny new thread: we forgot to discuss the title this time!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Aethelfleda · 26/09/2012 19:05

Oh no for all the poorly beebs and mums! mopsy in particular sounds grot, but what is it with them all at the moment?!?!

We had teething grump at 1.30 and 5am, tooth number two is proving stubborn in extremis. Have two houses to look at tomorrow, neither ideal on paper, but may be pleasently surprised on viewing, you never know. There is nothing (literally) on sale in the exact areas we want, so having to think outside the box a little. Next viewing here Friday so it's clearup time tonight (as have a PTA meeting tomorrow evening).

Nowt compared to what you lot are going through- we're just in the snot and 'Dickensian orphan cough Grin' state of Xiao and family, although in DS's case he went all hoarse and pathetic sounding. That's gone, but he's spreading the snot everywhere- was in his hair and (TMI) encrusted all over my boob after this morning's bf. And he hates it being wiped.
He wouldn't settle last night, so I spent the night with him, and got up at 5.30...urgh. And DS is obsessed with the laptop (even though he has his own little computer) so we're in the same boat figgy Confused

I did similar Oi- deglazed the pan with brandy, chucked in some cream and mustard, and served over the chops- all good! Glad you seem to be having a good time in Copenhagen, hope it lasts

Oh poor you and MiniM mopsy, that sounds awful, she must be really suffering. Have you managed to catch wee? Hope you get a diagnosis and some treatment soon, and that you both get some rest.

LittleMissFlustered · 26/09/2012 21:30

Octoboy, in sleepybabyzombie mode just latched onto my duvet, and didn't notice for almost a minute >_< Dippy boy!:o

He's quite mobile at the minute, by reversing and rolling he's going all over. He gets monumentally disgusted with the universe when he gets himself wedged into a corner or a cubby hole though. I laugh, which seems to confuse him as he is loving happy mummy, but frustrated by his predicament:o

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 26/09/2012 22:04

Think we are in for a long night Chez DSM Sad although hoping Sky is getting the message time to sleep. Her crying is starting to wind down bless her. Is it wrong to leave her to slightly sob in her cot after comforting her to no avail?!

Xiaoxiong · 26/09/2012 22:27

Northern DS would scream and flail if I tried to get at his nose - the only way I've found is if I make it a game - make eye contact with him, then exaggeratedly pretend-wipe my nose with a cloth, then actually wipe his, then pretend-wipe mine etc. After three or four go-rounds he was slightly less snotty. I miss when he was tiny and we could just do the saline drops and suction his nose without having to hold him down!!

aethel I'm sorry you're not finding what you need Sad I know your dream house out there somewhere - are you considering expanding your search a few stations further out on the train line?

Xiaoxiong · 26/09/2012 22:31

DSM isn't that just the best - you put them down when they're crying and think "I'll go back in 5 minutes if they're still hysterical" and then you hear it sloooooowly winding down...getting a bit more sleepy sounding....and then blessed silence.

LMF Octoboy sounds adorable - love him latching onto the duvet and sucking away industriously Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 26/09/2012 23:43

My duvet must be related to the towels of Hitchhikers fame, soaked in tasty minerals and nutrients for the busy traveller/sleep baby:o

I am tired, but I stupidly drank coke. So my brain is bouncing an my body is flagging. Gah!

Aethelfleda · 27/09/2012 07:42

first night in two weeks we had both a dry DD2, and no teething wakeups from DS! (she seems fine now. Go anecdotal evidence!)

Hope the poorly peeps are starting to rally....

Minimopsy slept a bit better last night. Fingers crossed she keeps her bottle down now... I'm going in!

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 27/09/2012 08:54

Sky had a good night apart from the 2 wake ups where she had coughing/retching fits. Seems good this morning so sent her to nursery.

DD1 was good this morning albeit a little on slow side getting dressed!!

So quiet household, which means housework blitz! Then chill as I've woken up with sore throat & sore chest.

GeeandTee · 27/09/2012 09:48

Rough night here, DD woke up every 30 mins until 12.30, then was wide awake and wanting to play at 3.30am, got her back to sleep at 5am, then up at 6.45am. I got about 4 hrs in total :(

DS wants to make cookies this morning. Not sure I can face it. We might make fish cakes instead, then at least dinner is sorted.

Hmmmm, I have never experienced that winding down cry with DD, she only ever goes up and into hysterical. She is one determined little lady like her mummy

Hope the viewings go well aethel and all the ill mums and babies get better soon. DD's gum is totally healed now but she has severed the frenulum completely (membrane from gums above top front teeth to the lip) so will take her to GP tomorrow just for him to look at it.

OiMissus · 27/09/2012 11:47

...On the way to the airport now. Grin

mopsytop · 27/09/2012 16:26

Oh dear, over 24 hrs vomit free, and she just did a massive vom :( she's had diarrhoea twice today also which she hadn't had up to now. How long will this last!? It's been 7 days now. Done three loads of laundry today, another to go and now all these vomit soaked towels as well. I had craftily arranged them on her bedroom floor just on case. Good thing too, easier to wash towels than scrub carpet..,

mopsytop · 27/09/2012 17:48

And another big vom. When will it end? Feel like crying!

Figgygal · 27/09/2012 17:56

Blimey Mopsy can you call an out of hours GP again? that sounds horrible!!

I am not going to see figgyboy tonight am off to a fashion show to check out the autumn winter fashions as i am a coat and dress addict, DH will therefore be putting him to bed for the first time since 21st July, it will be very strange but looking forward to me time.

mopsytop · 27/09/2012 18:19

GP didn't seem worried figgy and said vomiting bugs can last for a while :( so I suppose I will just have to sit it out

mopsytop · 27/09/2012 18:21

Oh abs enjoy the fashion show!

OiMissus · 27/09/2012 18:41

Poor minimopsy! And poor you. It must be awful.SadSadSad
Enjoy your very fashionable night out figgy!
I am planning a shoppi fest tomorrow. Grin
Home with my boi now. And he walked for me!!!5-6 steps with his arms in the air! All very frantic, but absolutely fabulous!!! GrinGrinGrin

LittleMissFlustered · 27/09/2012 18:48

Yay for walking BOi!

Today has been a mood swinger. I should get an appointment with my doctor, but I'm just not sure that I'm ready to admit I need help yet :(

Eldest minion is being formally welcomed to her new cub pack tonight, like another investiture, where she gets the new necker. this one is tartan, ver' snazzy! Rock and roll:o

OiMissus · 27/09/2012 19:51

Girl cubs with tartan neckerchiefs! Don't mind admitting I'm a little bit jealous. I was a brownie, and the yellow tie thing was very dull in comparison.

seven77 · 27/09/2012 20:35

mopsy poor thing, that sounds horrible. I really hope she's on the mend soon.

kate I'm fairly certain I broke my toe a few months ago, so sympathy as it was bloody painful!

Hope all of the other poorly LO's are better soon. Eva was massively sick just before I put her to bed, 4 times in just a couple of minutes, just after her milk so I expect it will be an early start tomorrow. I'm thinking some sort of stomach bug, after the first couple of times I sat her down then shd was sick again doubled right over like her tummy could have been hurting :(.

oi must have been fantastic coming home and BOi walking for you!

figgy enjoy the fashion show!

It was my nieces 2nd birthday today, we went to her party, which was interrupted by my mum getting a phone call from the developers of their house. She got off the phone looking really miserable and told my dad right in front of us that the developers just want to get it finalised. Cue us making a hasty exit before DH swore at my parents, we're equally angry, he's more likely to say something, whereas I'm still trying to keep the peace and stewing over it. Such a shame though as DS was having a lovely time, I knew they wouldn't be able to help bringing it up and ruining the party :(.

Sorry, I expect you're probably all getting fed up with me ranting about it now Blush.

seven77 · 27/09/2012 20:40

Meant to say gee after your awful night was it you that said about re-introducing dairy? We haven't had any lactose-containing dairy for a couple of months, and I'm not giving her any until she's a year, I feel too awful when it causes her pain and I know it's my fault :(. Do you think it's a dairy intolerance/allergy or could it just be lactose? Thankfully Eva's is just lactose so we can still buy lacto-free cheese, milk, butter and yoghurts.

NorthernChinchilla · 27/09/2012 21:17

No, seven, house moves and family are two very stressful things even as individual problems, never mind together, and it sounds like its having a really toxic (to use a fave MN word) effect. The Dec '11 thread is here for exactly this sort of thing, vent away!

I'd call the doctor's again mopsy; if she's got diarrhoea as well now then the illness has gotten worse, and therefore I'd get another view in light of it. As Aethel always says, any caring, decent doctor will never be bothered by people contacting them about their ill babies. for you both though, it sounds totally miserable.

Aw, you're far nicer than me Xiao, I just get him into a position where he can't turn his head and leap in! He's been objecting slightly less now we've been doing it a few days, poor little effort.

Today has been rather crap...on the long running DP-flexible-hours saga, he's been refused, twice, with no reason. This time round, when it appeared post meeting that they'd actually reached an agreement, for them just to send a letter saying 'nope', he had to appeal it formally. He approached one manager who said the problem was the hours- DP was 'mistaken' thinking that they were negotiable (erm, they sent him away to look up the nursery times to fit in Hmm), and that they had made a firm offer in the meeting of 12-5.
DP writes his appeal to say, "hey, it's totally crap for us, and we really want 1-6, but we'll take 12-5". He approaches other manager to check, who tells him that there was in fact no firm offer in the meeting, that they plan to reject his request, and they may reconsider around Xmas.

I hope they all get scrofula for Xmas.

DP will be looking for other jobs, but we'll need to make DS permanent full-time at nursery.

Gah.

Figgygal · 27/09/2012 21:24

Typical bought nothing for me spent nigh on £50 on figgyboy!!

Way to go Boi can't wait to see it on fb

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 27/09/2012 21:28

LMF The tartan neckerchief is cool.

Oi Yay for BOi walking a few steps for you. I used to be a Brownie when we had the brown dress with yellow tie. Uniform has all changed now much more comfier! With cargo pants, t-shirt, hoodie, body Warner etc.

Mopsy I would seek a 2nd opinion by GP about MiniM bless her.

Gee Hope you get a better night sleep.

Seven That's pants re the house. Maybe DH should say something as its out of your hands the speed of things.

Sky seems a lot better today and not so snotty tonight so hoping for a better night...I'm off to catch a few zzzz incase she wakes. Night y'all Smile
