Shiny new thread: we forgot to discuss the title this time!

Zara has this for £26. At the other end of the scale, for £195 you could have this beauty. Although even I would not buy this in these economic climes Grin but I can dream. The point is, really, that Totes are in. And every shop has 'em, and different variations of 'em, and you could find a very nice one, very easily. Please stop me looking at bags now!

OiMissus · 08/10/2012 08:26

(the zara bag isn't even a tote, pass the haddock - I'm being silly)

OiMissus · 08/10/2012 08:38

Bugger. I need to sell things on e-bay. I want that bag now. bugger. i didn't even want a new bag. now I want that bag. this is silly. If I really looked, I'd find something else even nicer. ...I am not spending money.
I know. here it is. great idea. If I lose 8lbs before my birthday, I can buy myself a handbag for the obscene amount of £200. yeah? It's my 40th birthday, therefore super-special, so I can be super-silly, n'est-ce pas? I've already told DH that I don't want a present, I'd rather get the fireplace thing built which will set us back a fair few pennies. So this could be my present kind-of from him. IF I lose 8lbs in 22 days.
2 and a bit lbs a week should be doable, shouldn't it? I'm about 10st 6 now. So the goal is 9st14 - but I'll confirm when I weigh myself tomorrow morning.
I'm gonna smash it.
I will.
I have to.
I look horrid naked.
At weekend, I decided to try and make myself feel better, by having a lux bath, and moisturising (what's that these days??) and even putting on some false tan.
Well, I got as far as having a lovely bubble bath, but I decided that using any false tan on my wobbly hulk would be a waste of tan stuff. I didn't even bother moisturising.
It actually turned out OK as I had to have another bath later in the evening with Boi after he vomited all over me. Blush
Right, that's it. 8lb by 30th October. I'll go and draw up a graph on an excel chart to motivate me. Grin

Sorry for making you look at bags oi! Good luck though, and I do like that Zara bag. Just need to find outhow big it is, the page doesn't seem very mobile-friendly.

I know a few on here don't like mothercare but they have 20% off all toys until midnight, could be handy with Christmas and birthdays (eek!) coming up.

OiMissus · 08/10/2012 10:14

It is 26 x 36 x 20 cm. / 10 x 14 x 8 inches, according to the page. :)

LittleMissFlustered · 08/10/2012 10:36

Not loving the tote, they never work for me!

Thanks for the coffee and support earlier. I think I'm coming to the point where I can't cope with the two hourly wake ups any more:(

The minions are at school so I'm heading for a nap with Octoboy. Wish me luck!

Have a nice day, I'll join in the bag porn tonight:)

MissRee · 08/10/2012 11:30

Ooooh seven, they have an offer on SavvyMummys today for Yippydada bags (£38 for an £85 voucher).

www.savvymummys.co.uk/share/riaramsey%40hotmail.co.uk/deals/

OiMissus · 08/10/2012 11:34

You can cope. You're just having a shit day or two. This too shall pass (or whatever the mantra is). Chin up chuck. Smile

The diet has started. I didn't go to the sandwich van earlier, so I'll be having rice krispies for lunch. I may just go and weigh myself in the factory... I'll grab a coffee on the weigh (way - do you see what I did there?) back. can I get one for anyone?

MissRee · 08/10/2012 11:56

Super-duper large decaf skinny latte here please Oi!

Busy weekend! Friday was Freya's hospital appointment - we've been shrugged off again for another four months. I have to get a dentist's opinion before I go back. Paed would be happier if we dealt with dental problems caused by the lip tie by way of braces when she's older. I would much rather it was dealt with by way of a small operation at a time that she won't remember it than having a face full of (painful) metal when she's a teenager Angry

Saturday we were at a child-free wedding. Beautiful venue, stunning weather and a lovely child free night with DP after Wink teehee!

I popped to the Baby Show at Bluewater yesterday with SIL so we could be shocked and disgusted with the price of things Grin I'm glad I went though as I got to test drive the stroller I want to get when we sell the travel system to SIL.

Hope things weren't too strained over the weekend BJR and that you managed to get some practicalities sorted. If you need anything, just shout x

Figgygal · 08/10/2012 13:01

I have a radley baby bag but then i have a radley everything!! i sold 2 on ebay a few weeks back and got £180 for them ok they cost me £260 new but i have had plenty wear out of them but as they were both ltd edition ones their resale value was high. Figgyboy's jumperoo is now on ebay we need to have a clear out. After my shopping binges over the last 2 weekends i was looking out more ebay items yesterday i do have another 6 or so radleys i could sell if i was desperate.

Oi unfortunately i am in Aberdeen for my friends bday on your bday weekend otherwise i would be there sequined up, i too need to lose weight before that weekend as her fancy dress theme this year is cartoon characters and i need to fit into my cruella de ville costume from 2 halloweens ago. I have lost no weight since i was back to work though am at pre birth weight i was probably 6lbs heavier than i like to be even then, must lose at least 4lbs this month though am back to Zumba next week and i might have to get my 30 day shred out of the wrapper.....to those ladies who have it what does she make you do?

I noticed mothercare had their 20% off toys sale i need to get a smart trike for Lo he loved it when he had go in one but was waiting to see if 1 came up on ebay and after about 6 weeks of looking i am shocked at how few seem to come up in bristol considering it is a major city. My mum said she would get him one for his xmas but it is kind of the wrong time of year for it isnt it.

AnAirOfHalloween · 08/10/2012 14:47

Hello anyone up for talking car seats?

Im thinking about getting a besafe isofix rf one for £319 but im worried about the other car lights shining in her eyes and its harder to put the child is as there is less room between the boor and the seat but the seat is safer than ff.

Ff seat are cheaper no light shining in eyes, easier to put the child in and she can see us in the front and she will be facing the same way as ds.

Sooo which should i go for?

MissRee · 08/10/2012 15:24

All the research points towards getting a RF one and there was a thread in AIBU yesterday about FF/RF car seats yesterday and according to the vipers, you should sell your kidneys to make sure your child is RF Grin

All I know is that Freya is a much happier traveller now she's FF.

AnAirOfHalloween · 08/10/2012 15:42

Think im going to have go get the rf and put up with the problems as its the safest.

So today air has a temp so didnt go to school and dh doesnt work mondays now so everyone home. Air keeps telling people that Hope is going on my bike as there is no room on his as we were discussing going for a bike ride and Aaron wanted to get Daddy a bike for xmas lol

Hope is chewing the snap card and banging her hand on the toy drum and back chatting her dad when he said " stop touching the wire" she said "no dada" and when he said "dont tough that" she said "yes" he said "Hope i mean it" Hope said "Yeah yeah yeah" and i PMSL at them Grin

Aethelfleda · 08/10/2012 16:48

misree, am hearing you, but i need my kidneys, and we have DD2's £200 isofix group 1 Britax won-spangly-awards seat right there in the loft. dS hates not being able to see us when he's RFing and I hate not being able to see his face to check if he's OK/asleep/about to puke when he'a RFing too. Safety doodahs are all well and good, but we spend >90% of the time driving at 40mph or less and I just don't think it males that much difference. If I was doing large amounts of mileage up the M1 every weekend I might feel differently. But there we have it.

OP posts:
MissRee · 08/10/2012 17:44

I absolutely agree with you Aethel which is why Freya is FF Smile she gets dropped off/picked up from parents houses during the week (less than 5 miles), my parents have a RF seat for when they have her on a Monday and MIL and aunt don't drive so no car seat needed Tuesday to Friday! If we go anywhere at weekends it's less than 10 miles on 30-40mph roads Grin

seven77 · 08/10/2012 17:46

I have to say I agree with aethel tbh. We do a 50 mile trip when we go shopping less than once a month, other than that Eva travels in her car seat between 2 and 20 miles a week. Of course if we had endless pots of cash I'd more than happily pay hundreds for the safest seat on the market, but £319! Shock. Not judging anyone obviously, I just don't have that kind of money going spare.

Changing bag will have to wait a bit longer, I spent over £70 on mothercare online. With the bits I've ordered, plus the bits I bought in ELC last week and DS hornby I got in the January sales the kids Xmas shopping is done :)

figgy I'm rather jealous of your collection of Radleys. My mum has a gorgeous radley handbag my dad bought her one Christmas, she doesn't use it as its too nice Hmm. As much as I've tried she hasn't wanted to give it away to someone who doesn't think it's too nice to use :o.

Today I'm now past the point where I had my miscarriage last time. :)

MissRee · 08/10/2012 17:46

Oh and my parents RF seat was £35 from Morrisons in one of their kiddy events! It eventually turns FF.

Figgygal · 08/10/2012 19:08

I looked at a rf seat but in the end decided we do very limited journeys he probably goes further in the Cms car on their adventures and we can hardly dictate what seat she uses. So to all the militant rf hysterics out there on mn come and have a go if you think you're hard enough!! Grin

OiMissus · 08/10/2012 19:46

I tried rf, but opted for ff. there were loads of reasons, my decision was not financial... Well only in that if I wanted to get sanctimonious I'd have to buy more than one rf because they are very impractical to take out/install, and our life is constant change.
I'm the safest driver I know. So why buy super safe for my car, and then something not as safe for use in other cars? = better to get the safest movable solution.
I've only ever had one extremely minor accident. I was hit in the rear. (So ff would've been better.)
The rf seat was too high to be practical in my low car.
I could go on, but I chose the expensive Kiddy guardian iso pro 2 or something. I like it. It feels safe. BOi likes ff too. We're all happy. Grin
If anyone wants to argue, they can try, but I made my choice based on what's best for my son. Argue with that!!

MissRee · 08/10/2012 20:55

Oi I had the thought about being shunted from behind and which would be safer. I need to research some more (out of curiosity) to see whether the research and scaremongering re: decapitated babies (sorry for scary mental image) is based purely on you hitting something head on. I must say, I've had far more close-calls when somebody has been driving too close or not paying attention behind than I have had close-calls for a head-on iykwim?

LittleMissFlustered · 08/10/2012 21:07

I don't have a 'next stage' seat as yet. I don't drive so have to factor in ease if use in various cars when I get one. Nightmare really:(

CherryBlossom27 · 08/10/2012 21:13

DS is in a forward facing car seat now. In all honesty I'm such a worrier I'd rather have a rear facing seat, but we can't afford it at the moment and a friend gave me the forward facing one which was a huge help! DS is happy enough, and he's only in the car at weekends - probably 10 miles a week maximum!

I'm doing 3 kit days starting tomorrow, so that will be a good test run as it'll be the same days I'll be doing when I return to work.

I'm getting a but worried about DS, I'm 99% sure it's teething, but he's been off his food for a few days and today he vomited everywhere. I'll see how he is tomorrow (FIL babysitting and super attentive), and if he's no better I'll get him an evening appointment at the dr or turn up at the out of hours GP. There's always a nagging doubt that they might be really ill isn't there?

mopsytop · 08/10/2012 21:20

Ugh I don't even want to imagine collisions :( I am going to look up Which? this w/e for carseats and will let you know my opinion then. Minim already doesn't seem to love being rearfacing and I can't see her properly which I hate. If she gets upset I can't see her or reach around to touch her. We do occasionally go down the M1/M25, maybe once every 2 months to visit rellies but aside from that use the car maybe once a week, twice max, a cpl of miles in town. But I'd like an easier to fix one this time. Have to belt her in every time, it's a bit of a pain. So I don't really know if we sd go for rf or ff. If they are rear facing until age 4, where do their feet go btw? Still haven't figured that one out. Wouldn't they be all squished against the back seat?

Ugh yet another thing to worry about and make decisions over.

Going to see the house again on Friday... With a few more questions this time. Plus hopefully will be cloudy so can see how dark/bright the house really is - it was an exceptionally bright day on Saturday.

Not even going to open the link to the bags! Cannot go there when thinking about new mortgage ... !

NorthernChinchilla · 08/10/2012 21:45

Didn't get any better, and in fact got much worse, and so have had to call in sick to work. This is only my second day ever since I've been in my current job, for well over two years. Spent day alternately shivering, boiling, and aching all over. Much sleeping and watching of Time Team has happened.

Hope you're feeling a bit better post nap LMF. Is Octoboy just having a few off days, or is he unwell again?

OiMissus · 08/10/2012 22:05

northern hope you feel better soon. Sad
cherry BOi vomitted (a lot!) 3 times last week. He's also missed a few meals. It's not like him at all. At other times in the day he's been fine, mostly. I also wonder if its teeth-related.
