Shiny new thread: we forgot to discuss the title this time!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Bum, DH home late from work again. And no offers on our house. And it's raining and my back hurts. I'm having a grumpy day Sad

Picked DS up from nursery today, he had no naps again so had been awake around 12 hours when I got there. Poor boy was hysterical by the time I got him home, and took me ages to calm him down and get him to sleep.

Don't know what to suggest to the nursery, they really seem to struggle to get him to sleep at all and he looks awful for it. Everyday when I pick him up he is exhausted, starting to feel very guilty for going to work and leaving him Sad

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 02/10/2012 20:34

Northern Darcie is okay. Knows when to take her inhalers and has becomes wheezy and breathless when inhales pollen. Gets really bad hayfever, which sets her chest off.

Sky is very snotty. Generally not always a happy bunny, has hacking cough which makes her struggle to breathe and just generally unwell. Sad

LittleMissFlustered · 02/10/2012 21:35

The dude has been food refusing today, and has been coughing so bad he's thrown up twice. Oh, and it's been hissing it down all day. Not that there's any link between the moisture and his breathing. Nooooo, I'm making it up.

It's going to be a long night!

Hope everyone is feeling fabulous. I'm ordering a skip tomorrow. I like skips. Thy let me throw things away with gay abandon!;)

LittleMissFlustered · 02/10/2012 21:40

I think the thread needs an infusion of sleepy dust and cake.

Aethelfleda · 02/10/2012 21:44

Linda McCartney cheese and leek plaits. Genuine Linda in every pastry. Nom.

think DS has tooth number two coming, the fevered gnawing and red cheeks are a giveaway. He's got ibuprofen on board too (I should have shares in this stuff). Joy.

Blimey left friends house at 9, boy still awake smiling and bouncing got him out of car, coat off and into his bag without him waking up. Bet he still wakes up at 6.15 though.

oi I'm always watching vids or looking at pics while at work or boring childless colleagues with them Grin

bjr not sure what to suggest about sleeping my DS also seems to have stopped having 2 naps at cm so only has about 45 minutes from 6.15-5.30 when he gets back he's then tired all evening.

anairofhope · 03/10/2012 06:01

We have our thrid tooth yay. Its the top left one. We have had lots of waking in the night and crying with gel and painkillers.

Not helped by my bad cold :(

No sleep im ill and i still have to take air to school. I want to call in sick pls!

Puts coffee on

Figgygal · 03/10/2012 07:45

Why is it when u have to leave an hour earlier they sleep in? And why is it when u in a hurry they manage to pee all over themselves twice requiring a emergency sponge bath GAH!!!

Xiaoxiong · 03/10/2012 10:05

Something to make you all smile this morning - DH has taught the pipkin something very cute. When he says "Hey P! What noise does a dinosaur make?", he roars in response! I couldn't believe it but I tried him with other animals (cat, dog etc) but only when we say "dinosaur" he goes "rrrarrooww" Grin

won't mention the dystopian poo DH had to change last night, haha

MissRee · 03/10/2012 11:47

We have clapping!!! Grin

I also got a super cute video of Freya dancing to her favourite song Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 03/10/2012 11:53

Loving the dinosaur roar Xiao!

mopsytop · 03/10/2012 12:51

Cuteness all round it seems! Minimopsy dances to certain songs too and she waves at herself in the mirror, which I find particularly endearing. She also laughs along when we are laughing at something, on the radio, for example, as though she, too, finds it amusing!

OiMissus · 03/10/2012 14:34

lmf gay abandon is great, and second only to wreckless abandon, which is entirely fulfilling short term.
Love the cute abilities of our fabulous kiddi-winkles. (We must be super-fab mums, n'est-ce pas?)
Meetings have gone very well today, and now I'm finished, so I'm going to go to the gym. Grin The gym here is crap. and there is no pool, which is ultra crap, but I hear there's a sauna! It's been SUCH a long time.

Xiaoxiong · 03/10/2012 15:04

I want a skip Envy and a sauna Envy and a child that laughs at my jokes Envy

and not a boss who asks me to do things that don't make sense and I don't like it grrr

Oh and also I made the mistake of commenting on the thread about the Irish traveller children being taught at school to say "thing" rather than "ting". Note for future self-preservation: never try and contribute to a discussion about accents in the UK...

AWomanCalledHorse · 03/10/2012 15:38

Xiao, that's so cute!
DS finds 'Quack Quack' hilarious when I say it.

Found the best thing (or ting) in the world for calming him down is American Dad or South Park, must be the simple animation & comic scripts. Think I'm probably going to parenting hell for that!

He's got ballanitis atm (our local childrens A&E playing kissfm, so what you want to hear at 2am) so is a grumpy boy.

LMF, oooh skip! I luff skips, having a massive declutter?

Ree, for clapping!

No idea BJR, but I hope he starts napping soon.

OiMissus · 03/10/2012 16:08

Couldn't find the sauna. Sad
However, if I had found it, it would've been "European" (ie mixed sex, in the buff) I guess. And I'm far too British far that kind of carry on!
Talking about being British, accents are one thing, dialects are another. Kids (and adults!!!!) should be taught to say "three" and not "free" for 3. Same for thing, thought, etc. and whilst we're at it, "Ask" is pronounced with the s BEFORE the k! (Pisses me right off!)
BOi will be sold to gypsies if I hear him say "one, two, free...".

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 03/10/2012 16:14

Well my first day back to work went well.....I survived Grin it was like I never left!

Xiaoxiong · 03/10/2012 16:40

Yay DSM! Glad it went well. It's amazing how you just slot back in, isn't it!

Oi I completely agree. From some of the incredibly defensive reactions on the thread though, you'd think I was advocating the most horrible racist thing ever. I do think it's a teacher's responsibility to teach standard pronunciations to children, even if in some dialects of English they're accepted.

AWCH yes, P chortles with hysterical glee when I say "squeak squeak" for some reason, especially when I push my face into his neck and squeak at him. Also if he puts his fingers into my mouth and I make a popping noise with my lips. Things I never thought I would say...

OiMissus · 03/10/2012 17:23

...but half of the teachers don't speak properly.Sad
You mentioned your LO putting fingers in your mouth. BOi does this, he likes to explore teeth. He must be working out that that's what's happening to him. He has 5 ATM.
Back home tomorrow!
DH has been offered the full time job he interviewed for. Smile And is going in tomorrow to discuss terms/ package.
And since I've been away, my mum has been inviting them for dinner!!! I shouldn't be Envy, I had Thai on day 1, yesterday we went Japanese and did sashimi and teppanyake, and tonight we're going to an Argentinian steakhouse where quantities of Malbec may have to be consumed. Grin
Must dash, can't be late!!!
Have a good evening y'all, I'll bring a virtual doggie bag back with me. Wink

BJR · 03/10/2012 18:14

Well I think i've figured out the problem of why DS won't nap and crys at nursery...

All the food except breakfast comes in from a outside company, all that is dairy free for DS. Despite them being very aware he can't have dairy they have been giving him breakfast cereal that states clearly on the side of the packet unsuitable for those with dairy/lactose intolerances.

He has had this for breakfast every day he has been there. I am very Angry. It suddenly occured to me last night to ask them about the cereal just in case and I turned out to be right. They gave him something different today and for the first time ever since he's been there he managed to nap properly. May be a coincidence but, well its unlikely.

Sorry for ranting, I feel very very ranty about the whole thing at the moment.

LittleMissFlustered · 03/10/2012 18:24

That's crap BJR! Have you ripped them a new one?:(

LittleMissFlustered · 03/10/2012 18:28

And yes, AWCH, I'm having an epic clear out:o It's marvellous therapy.

MissRee · 03/10/2012 18:30

BJR how crap of them Sad did you resolve the nappy incident?

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 03/10/2012 19:37

BJR Shock I would of had a few stern words. Hope DS is okay?
