Oh forgot to say, dh was playing with us on the playmat before he went to work and he dropped one of the dangly rattle things on ds's head. Ds went from smiling to a look of shock and then let out a big wail. I scooped him up quickly to comfort him whilst dh panicked looking very guilty. I know it's awful but I had to laugh (I don't think it hurt ds was more shock coz he stopped crying straight away with a cuddle) but dh is soooooooo clumsy Grin

Flamesparrow · 17/03/2006 09:51

No idea what those chiropractors did to him yesterday, but I think it was too much :( He was miserable all night - cried most of the evening, and then spent from about 1.30 in bed with us... he kept crying like he wanted food, then refusing to latch on. DH took over in the end because I was getting more tired and worked up. I think (now I am more awake) that he was probably hurting and didn't know what he wanted :(

Expressed 3oz last night Grin All proud of myself. My right side is still feeling weird... his mouth is clear. His spots are just little red ones - they are on his ears and chest now too. I'm assuming they are just new baby spots and not some sort of illness!

Ixel - Hope your scar is looking better today.

Chloe - I have a tendency to laugh at things like that too Blush. I always seem sooo mean!

Jasnem · 17/03/2006 10:10

Not a great night here, either. 2 hourly feeding (at the longest), dp stayed out 'til midnight, then dd1 repeatedly waking up boy for a cuddle this am.
DP did respond to my stressed out face, and shouting at the girls b y doing the school run unprompted this morning (a rare event)Grin I had a bath , and feel a bit better now.
Tabs - hope you got your night out, and enjoyed the break.Smile

Chloe - I would have laughed, too.SmileDP frowns alot, and onstantly has to let me know he's not really n as bad a mood as he looks. He tends to look like a convict on photos, though (the skinhead doesn't help!).

Boy is still sleeping, so I am going to try and clean out the kitchen. I am the only person I know who has to find space in their kitchen for a chainsaw, a bag of plaster, and 20 tins of paint! (Roll on the day when he builds his shed!)

Tabs · 17/03/2006 12:05

Morning all. I was so happy yesterday as the cranial osteopath seemed to have worked some magic and she was lovely and happy and had plenty of naps, but then last night was awful. Not getting so much of the high pitched wail - the osteopath has definitely helped her be in less pain, but she seemed to be crying because she wanted feeding - all night! I went to bed at 9:45 as was knackered (no, didn't go to MN meet up), but only managed to get 4 hours sleep between then and now, and some of that was co-sleeping this morning, as she seemed to want to be on boob for 45 mins in virtually every hour!

Typically, seem to have got her to sleep in her basket now, so I need to choose between trying to sleep myself, or having a bath. Think sleep might win and I'll still be in my nightshirt when in-laws come round later.

2nd osteopath session booked for Monday, so hoping that has further good effect.

Sorry, too tired (and little of value to say!) to respond to everyone else's posts at the moment.

Also expressed 3oz yesterday - was very proud of myself, ds2 slightly freaked by the whole performance - "Mummy, you are being sucked in"! Grin I explained that Daddy would be able to feed Maisie and he jumped in with "but Daddy doesn't have boobs"!

Chloe55 · 17/03/2006 12:51

Seems we all had a pretty rough night. Well, ds has still not settled this am, he hasn't slept since about 5am! I have been out with him in the pram to walk the dog, we have been to the post office in the car, I have tried rocking and singing but to no avail. Oh well, hopefully I should be in for a quiet night (fingers crossed)

MrsDoolittle · 17/03/2006 13:35

We went to see the GP this morning about ds's spots. He poo pooed the thrush suggestion, he thinks they are just baby spots. He did admit though that they are quite bad baby spots and that he wanted to see them again next week. I haven't seen baby spots before and these scared me.
Also, even if I have thrush, he said, unless I was having trouble feeding he wouldn't treat it. In fact he wasn't sure he believed in thrush, he said. This coming from the doctor who told me he didn't believe in colic when he saw ds for his initial check.
He's due to retire next year, he has four children of his own!! Obviously he wasn't the one them holding them when they were screaming at night!!

Ds will feed and feed and feed if I let him, I think alot of it is comfort sucking too.

I put dh in the spare room last night. He sulked about it all evening but was so happy this morning he had had a full nights sleep. I had a wonderful 4 hours continous sleep, the longest yet!!!

Frizbe · 17/03/2006 14:27

Shock at your doc Mrs D, bet you can't wait for him to retire....hope its not thrush for your sake, having to wait until it causes you pain, is not good eh......

Ixel ouch re scar, hope it gets sorted soon for you...good weight gain on your little un tho!

Jas, Sad re everyhour feeds, I've not had the pleasure yet with this one, but then she is a few weeks younger than some peoples on here, so no doubt I have it all to come!
Can't believe your dh hasn't built the shed yet?! thought it sounded like he was cracking on with it last month Shock or is he like mine, all mouth n little action.......

Flame, good weight gain for you also Smile congrats to your dd on her Star!

Chloe Smile at your poor ds getting bumped by daddy, awwwww......

Well dd1 and I are slowly going nuts here waiting for MW who is supposed to be coming to check dd2's weight....so she can discharge us....that been said HV has called yest aftn and is coming on Monday, so assuming she's not discharged us without taking my notes etc back?? or telling me??
dd1 is currently being cute, singing into her rolling pin, to the Wiggles.....but I'm out of things to do, we've stuck, painted and coloured this am inbetween feeds, we've jigsaw'd and roleplayed (kitchen) so any ideas greatfully received, was going to bake, but out of eggs.....I need to get to the shops at least, argh! (and the thought of 2 kids and 24 hr tescos later is not appealing) oh and to top my moaning dh is now away with work until Sunday pm.....so don't even get to see him in the evenings.....arrrrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhh, can't wait for dd1 to realise he's not back tonight.....she's going to play up hell.......so will be on here for more moaning later no doubt! but thanks for listening/reading this.....

Jasnem · 17/03/2006 17:28

Shock at your gp too, MrsD. I hope you are ok, but I'm sure if you aren't treated, even if you have no symptoms, you can still reinfect ds. Maybe your hv can advise?

Frizbe - dp is all talk! He laid the concrete base for the (mythical)shed 2.5 years ago, so I'm not too hopeful that it'll be built before the dds leave home.
Hope the mw turned up, and DD2 is ok.

Tabs - hope you had a better day ( and you did go for the sleep option while you could)Smile

May be back later, but if not, hope allthose sleepless babies (mine included) have a better night tonight, and we all get a lie in tomorrow!

Flamesparrow · 17/03/2006 17:39

Shock - Can we rub something burning inducing into the GPs nipples??? Angry

I'm sooooooooo tired. Slightly better day as I was at my friend's house so she could do cuddling for a while. Think this evening will be spent as this afternoon has been - in a daze. Tis the weekend tomorrow... I made it through my first week alone, and we all survived!!!!

Frizbe · 17/03/2006 18:08

Smile yeah flame a whole week, well done hon!

I really don't know how JuA does it with three, how do you do it JuA??

Jas, the MW hasn't turned up.......? gave up on her at 3.30 and went to the shops, as figured that was more important by then! but no notes thru door, so assuming she's not been.....righty gona wake dd2 now for a feed, so I can get dd1 to be for roughly 7ish.......harharhar

Flamesparrow · 17/03/2006 18:33

Angry DD still unfed as DH is glued to xbox!

Frizbe · 18/03/2006 08:49

Angry at your dh for you flame! hope today is better hon....

Well what a night! dd1 woke up 3 times....2 crying for me, 1 crying for daddy (at 2am...) so although dd2 slept 00.30-05.30 (hurrah!) my kip still got disturbed....pants eh! then just as dd2 finished feeding at 06:15, dd1 got up at 06:30, so can't wait for dh to get home on Sunday......have persuaded GP's to pop over to see us today, so may get chance for a nap if they take dd1 out?

So what's everyone doing this weekend then, any good plans?

Tabs · 18/03/2006 10:58

Frizbe - have my family visiting for the day today - due in about 20 mins. Not just my parents but my brother and sil too. You may recall that we're not all that close, so will be an interesting day trying to stop them from overstimulating Pippa and winding me up!

Pippa had a great night's sleep last night, but grrrr at myself for being so rubbish at sleeping. Got her settled after a feed at 2:50am, and then was still awake myself at 4:30am, so had wasted all that opportunity for good sleep. Even kicked DH out to spare room as I thought it was his snoring stopping me from sleeping, but couldn't settle even with him gone! Ah well, still managed 5-6 hrs in total without that bit, so one of best nights in last 6 weeks anyway! Didn't manage my sleep after yesterday's post either - tried but couldn't so went for the bath option afterall.

Hope everyone else has a great weekend and finds cures for thrush/sleeplessness/lazy partners/colic/reflux/spots etc!!!!

Much better night! DS had his very first bottle at 9pm - took it no problems whatsoever and drank 2 1/2 oz before falling asleep again (he was only half awake when he started it) - he needed to finish on the breast an hour or so later, but I think he would have taken more from the bottle had he been properly awake.

Then... he slept in his cot! Woke twice for feeds, but went back no problems. (He woke about 2.30 for a feed, then I thought he'd come off again too quickly, I woke him, tried to get him back on and he refused... then I realised it was now 4am and I'd fallen asleep Blush - poor little man was full!)

Got a bit of a lie in this morning too Grin

Back to the thrush - is it possible to have it in just one side? It seems odd to me, I would have thought that he would transfer it as he fed, which is whats making me think it is still just soreness from dodgy feeding....

Big hugs to everyone!!!!

hi !
just quick message to say all well here - sally settling down, and becoming slightly more predictable!
i do pop on and catch up, but rarely have time to write - and we've had trouble with phone lines.
still very comforting to read everyone's experiences.
dh back to work next week.
boo.

Frizbe · 18/03/2006 18:54

Thell hope it goes ok with dh back at work hon, remember we're here if you need us!

Flame, you've got me thinking about Thrush now, as although I have no symptoms, dd2 has a rather white tongue at the back, although its not spotty?? will check with HV who is apparently round on Monday.....

Lol tabs looks like you need to re train yourself to sleep Grin hope the family haven't been too bad today?

Well my folkes turned up today, hurrah, so we had a nice trip out, got brought lunch, and dd1 got spoilt, so she's happy Smile and I BF dd2 in public for the 1st time in a rather crowded cafe, but managed to do it all fairly discretely so am happy about that Smile

Flamesparrow · 18/03/2006 19:36

Grin @ your breastfeeding!!! I've still not had proper public - have done a 9 year old's birthday party surrounded by mums and children, but I knew most of the mums...

Oodles of sleep from this little guy today - been at my mum's all afternoon, and had lots of tea and cake... he went 4 hours between feeds, and then kept coming off crying - I think the milk was coming out too fast for him (I was leaking before he started), so he was gulping, which was making even more come out, and he kept choking. Looking forward to expressing from that side - I can see it just pouring out!!

Flame u jammy git! wish mine was flowing that freely (mind you if it does kick in like that, better get some bed mats out!!)

3k · 18/03/2006 23:57

Hi All,

I'm still here too although been really busy with Ben for the past few days. He feeds every 2.5hours during the day (at the longest) but goes 4 - 5 hours at night, even 6 hours the other day but I'm still knackered. Have been feeding around 3am but then cant get back to sleep so really tired by the time I get up with him in the morning.

He still has oral thrush too and is sick on the medication but have managed to get his 2 doses down him today.

Does anyone elses baby chuck up after a feed? Ben has been sick 3 times today after a feed and it looks a lot. I know that babies are known for being sick but it would be interesting to know if anyone else gets covered like me!!!!!

Still feeling less teary so I think the medication has kicked in. The HV is coming on Monday to do my post natal depression check but I am feeling loads better although still tired!!

Anyway off to bed now, hope we all have quiet nights and sleep well!!

Jasnem · 19/03/2006 09:31

Morning, have read, but instantly forgotten who said whatBlush

I'm off to dps mothers today. Boy is 3 weeks old, and we've not even had a phone callShockShe'll be lovely when we get there ( 1 hour drive with 3 kids) but I would've thought she could have sent us a card at least. Just as well I've learnt not to be sensitive...I still have to remind her of the girls' names.

He's still not got the sleeping at night thing though: hates the moses basket, and even in his chair wakes every 2-3 hours. Will sleep for over 4 hours this morning, now we're all up. I still have very sore r nip... haven't fed on that side since 5am and still hurts. Sure he's not latching properly but not sure what to do.

Hope everyone is well. xxx

Jasnem · 19/03/2006 09:33

Oh 3k - Boy is sick occasionally, but not after every feed. Some babies are just sicky though.. as long as he's not bringing up loads, probably ok.

Glad you feel better Smile

Frizbe · 19/03/2006 10:20

3k, dd2 is sick every now and again, usually when she's been greedy Grin she got me a corker the other night, all down my shoulder, right off the cloth! when I was winding her, straight onto the sofa (thankfully leather = easy to clean!) lovely puddle of the stuff! lol....and then 10 mins later she wanted the other boob, and kept it all down, so I guess that's the way it goes sometimes!
Sorry to hear your sleeps gone to pot, have you tried some relaxation techniques to get you drifting off again.

Jas Shock at your MIL, some people are weird eh! have you tried the rugby ball pose with him, as both my dd's feed better from my right hand side on a rugby pose, whilst across the front is great for my left?? odd eh?

Jas, Grrrrr at your dh
