Well it didn't work. Ended up putting him in his pushchair and taking the dog for a walk and he went straight to sleep. He's just woke for a feed so should now sleep til at least 4am after it

Chloe55 · 05/04/2006 08:08

Morning girls,

At my 6 week check I didn't even get a belly feel!

Well I think ds sleeping pattern was def a fluke as last night he woke at 1am and then again at 3am Sad And he is being really faffy with his milk at the moment, he had 1oz in 40mins at one of his feeds yesterday but I persevered and then he guzzled another 4oz in about 10mins! Bit odd.

I'm into some of my old clothes but I look hideous in them at the moment because I am used to them fitting much better. Must start exercising soon.

Arrrgggghhh! House is a mess!!! Angry

Flamesparrow · 05/04/2006 09:12

I feel fat and ugly, and I'm too tired and hungry all the time to do anything about it :(:(

Flamesparrow · 05/04/2006 09:14

I feel fat and ugly, and I'm too tired and hungry all the time to do anything about it :(:(

Chloe55 · 05/04/2006 09:14

Awww Flame - ditto! (Can you see I still haven't started the housework? Grin)

4blue1pink · 05/04/2006 09:18

hi Girls,

Flame I feel for you. i am really pro breastfeeding but in my experience i dont loose the weight till i stop and then it drops off...I just feel like i want to be thin again. Everyone else is all stylish and trendy and i am a blob in the only (rank) clothes that fit me.

Jasnem...I do try to keep boy awake all evening well from 6-8.30 pm he HATES it and i feel mean but he is in routine of bed 8.30 - drem feed 11.30 then through till 8.30.

Dont know if the enforced wake does it but think it helps get him off in evenings!

Flamesparrow · 05/04/2006 09:38

I'm very Envy of all you with sleeping babies! But I do enjoy the daytime sleeping child - it means DD isn't too pushed out, so I guess i can't have it all!!

I just want my bum to shrink 4B1P!!! I know I have the big saggy tummy, but that can at least be covered, but my bum is what is stopping me fitting into trousers Angry. Maybe I should try sitting on it less? Grin

ellenrose · 05/04/2006 17:24

1st set of jabs for Maisie today - covered me in blood - brilliant - but she went straight to sleep so clearly wasn't too bothered.

Weighed too - 13lbs 7.5oz.

Am actually running 5km every other day but still not shifting my saddlebags so with you Flame on the trousers not fitting Sad

Frizbe · 05/04/2006 20:06

crikey 1st jabs already Smile mind you we were the last of the bunch over here!!

4b1p I had that weight loss when I stopped boobing last time too! so hoping I turn into a very skinny thing (not since I was 18 have I been skinny) once I stop feeding this time too Grin

Hope all are ok, I've just called out the plumber again, as boiler keeps cutting out, we have heating now, but no hot water?? durrr???
Have heard from a very peed off friend today as well, she's due end of April, but went for routine scan and transverse baby, so she's been kept in and will be c-sect'd in two weeks, poor thing, so will try and visit her soon (not sure how much they'll want a two year old and a month old on the wards tho)

Flamesparrow · 06/04/2006 09:05

What is it with all these boilers??

I'm with you on the jabs Frizbe Shock. Although I'm planning to put them off for a month anyway (my HV is going to get very stroppy with me). I'm jumpy enough about jabs - I'm not anti them enough to not want them at all, I just feel that they are so small to be loading with all this stuff, I'd rather have another few weeks development first.

We had people round last night (first time since DS), and it went really well - he refused to give in and go to sleep, so was being held most of the night, but he wasn't screaming with wind like he has been, so all in all, I'm going with success Grin. Nearly ended up a widow... DH tried to tell me that it was "Only a game" when he wasn't pressing the answer I was saying, and we were losing points! AngryGrin They wouldn't let us be on a team together again after the shrieking.... Blush

Having clothes issues with DS... his torso is lots longer than his legs, so where newborn things fit overall, they are looking snug in the middle, but fine for the legs, but if I go up a size, they swamp him! Not enjoying spending money on clothes that only fit him for about 2 wears!!!

DD is doing well - missing school :( We told her that she could choose a new top yesterday as Emrys was getting clothes... bypassed all the girly stuff, and my little lady is currently wearing a skater style spiderman top! Grin Think I'll put her hair in bunches to make her look more girly...

Jas - What happened with names in the end? Is Boy Leon or back to Boy?

Tabs · 06/04/2006 10:17

Knackered here today. Gave her half a massage yesterday (she screamed for food halfway through!), and it did have the desired effect of making her sleep well, but she slept well between 6pm and 10pm, when she normally feeds lots, so then wanted to be awake feeding all night! Be surprised if I even managed to get 4 hrs sleep, and I went to bed at 8:30!!!

Off to see my friend today. Thanks for comments re carseat. Checked with her mum and she said that she's tall enough to just buckle in back seat. Checked that that's not illegal, and it looks like the new regs don't come into force until Sept, so we're ok - phew!

Pippa was due to have jabs today (right at this minute in fact!), but moved them to next week as we aren't allowed to do massage within 48hrs of having them. Glad to hear that Maisie wasn't bothered by them. I've bought calpol in anticipation.

Thell - give the NCT people a call and ask them about their bumps and babes group, as that's something that you could start doing right away to give you some activity. Have to admit I'd be lost without all the NCT stuff that we do - B&B plus regular meets and chats with my antenatal group. Have you been invited to join an NHS postnatal group? Still waiting for my invite - seems I just missed the cut off for one group, so Pippa will be one of oldest when I do get on one.

Boy has been Boy all week... I've not mentioned it since DP said he wasn't sure about Leon(again). We are registering him tomorrow, and I'm hoping I'll get my way. Let you know tomorrow night. He's been Boy for so long now that No name at all seems right!.

I've got a short body and long legs on my baby...he's in 3-6 month clothes, as his toes were squashed in the end of his smaller sleepsuits, but some newborn vests still fit. I'm so glad I borrowed everything. I really grudge paying for things that only get worn twice too.

Forgotten everything else.. Frizbe has no hot water - hope that gets sorted soon. Happy holidays to everyone else

Chloe55 · 06/04/2006 10:26

PMSL at your board game antics Flame, me and DH are actually banned from being on opposing teams as we always accuse each other of cheating and it turns into a massive row Grin

Ds also has a long torso and short legs which makes him look a bit odd in whatever we put him in!

Did my first bit of exercise yesterday Blush Walked down to the docs and back coz car is knackered. I have to climb a big hill on my way home (I have only ever done this pissed with DH pushing me up! Grin) and I had to do it sober yesterday pushing a pram, I was absolutely exhausted to the point I could hardly breath - I must get fitter!!!

Another interupted nights kip, I know ds is only 7 weeks old so it is to be expected but when you have 2 nights in a row of practically sleeping through to then go back to square one it is heartbreaking! Oh well, guess I was lucky for them two nights and should be grateful.

cuffyj1 · 06/04/2006 11:55

Know wot you mean about sleeping patterns chloe, Lewis was really good at night for about the first 7 weeks and this week seems to have taken a step back. DH isn't helping matters either his brains decided he can't hear Lewis crying in the night so i'm having to get up and feed him and when i mention it next morning he says "yeah but i'm working" Angry (would accept that normally but he's only working bloody afternoons this week.)

Just had a go at him now cos he can't tell when baby milk is warm enough so he shouted me to come and check it when i said it was ok and go sit down with him he said "oh i'm feeding him am i?" Is it so hard to feed his own son? Then he said "fine i'll feed him but when i'm late for work u can explain why." He doesn't start work til 2.30pm. Angry Angry

Chloe55 · 06/04/2006 12:10

Hmmmm, generally dh is good at pulling his weight with ds but, although he works full time, I still don't think I should be expected to do all the night feeds as it's not like I get any sleep in the day as ds won't do much more than 20min stints and I just can't see the point in attempting to kip at these times so I mostly walk the dog/do the housework/do the shopping (and occassionally get on here Wink). If he does get up in the night though he strops about and moans so I can't sleep anyway!

Angry at your dh though for not teaming together to do feeds when he is up and about!

cuffyj1 · 06/04/2006 12:26

Just a quick question about pooey nappies maybe TMI.

Up until last friday ds was doing 1-2 poos a day but now he's doing loads nearly every nappy but not always much even though he really seems to be pushing for ages (he goes bright red in face and makes a noise as he pushes and sometimes clenches his fists as he's doing it.)

Also the odd 1 or 2 are a bit watery he's fine in himself and if anything he's loads better than he was before cos he's not screaming after every feed and seems to be over his colic, he's not dehydrated or anything.

I rang emergency doc on friday night but they didn't send anyone out just told me to keep an eye on him, give him water and if he got any worse over weekend to ring back.

He isn't poorly so should i just leave him? We've got 6 week check on monday.

He's bottle fed btw.

Jasnem · 06/04/2006 12:38

Cuffy - Angry at your dh for you. Mine's pretty much the same, and they all seem to be trotting out the"I've got top go to work" excuse. My pet hate, as it implies that I'm not working, just because no one pays me to bring up his children!
I also think all men can sleep through crying babies. DP genuinely thought dd1 slept through the night from a couple of weeks, because I did't wake him up when she woke up.Shock

could your ds be constip[ated? Watery poo could be what is called overflow ( I know way too much about this!) If he is, more water could help, also gently bend his knees up to his tummy when he's straining. If he stretches his legs out it casn make passing it more difficult. HTH

ixel · 06/04/2006 19:06

Ellenrose... you've got me really worried. How are you managing 5km already?! I'm really bothered about getting back into running a)as I haven't done any properly since pre ds1 and b)I dont seem to have time;its about 8 or 9pm by the time all the essentials of life get done.I can feed ds2 whilst on here, but not on the treadmill!

Flamesparrow · 06/04/2006 19:39

You've got me worried too... any running is serious worrying behaviour in my book Grin

Jas - Found out today that there is a name in Taiwan "Bouie" pronounced.... BOY!!! Grin You can keep his name.

DD was long body and short legs too - she's evened up now though, so it should all work out ok in the end Wink. DS is fast trying to hit 75th centile (started on 50th) for weight... not been heighted for a while though.

Exhausted. And feeling smug - all you with your routines being thrown out and making you more tired again... My routineless method means I am steadily exhausted all the time Grin

Frizbe · 06/04/2006 19:47

Flame I agree Jas should keep boy, as I've said before it worked for Boy George!! Grin

Grin at your dd as well Flame

Chloe good going re the hill!

Cuffyj, hope your dh gets his arse in gear soon, it can take them a while sometimes

Hope everyone else ok, still waiting on hot water to be fixed here, plumber coming back tomorrow am with more parts....

Thell · 06/04/2006 20:38

hi all!
tabs - i'm meeting up with my nct antenatal group, and we email each other lots Smile - am also waiting for invite to nhs postnatal.
jas- boy is a lovely name! have got used to reading it, doesn't seem odd at all.
boilerchicks - ours packed in the day after sal was born! obviously couldn't cope with filling the birth pool Grin nice man came that night because of tiny babe, patched it up and fitted new one a week later.

Jasnem · 06/04/2006 20:48

That's the problem...I'm so used to calling him Boy, I haven't really considered any thing else this week. If dp says no to Leon, I don't know what we'll do. I suspect that whatever goes on his birth cert, he'll always be Boy to me ( and You!)

I read a thread earlier about trying to go running while being ftm to two - thought it was Ixel- I think you're all mad myself (don't really do exercise if I can help it)
I may make it back to aquanatal after the hols, just to get time out and force dp to have a regular child care evening.

Can't believe you're not more of a priority with no hot water and a tiny baby frizbe! Hope it gets done tomorrow.

Thell - there are mn meets in London if you're interestedI've been looking at one in Finsbury Park, but it's too far for me unless its in the hols. There must be something else near you. I did baby music (dd loved it) from a few weeks old, and lots of toddler groups. Your clinic or local library should have lists.

4blue1pink · 06/04/2006 20:51

Jasnem we are registering our 'boy' tomorrow as well but still not clear on name!

We have called him Tcheky ( dont ask...... its african !) since he was a bump and cannot get out of the habit now!

He is good though and deserves a name soon!

3k · 06/04/2006 23:23

Hi Ladies,

Ben has had me up at 4am for the past two nights after sleeping through so I think his routine has gone out of the window too. He is also bottle fed and is straining a lot lately so think he may be constipated a little - will try more water tomorrow and see if that helps. He is in bed now, as is DH and I'm going in a sec!!!

Exercise!!! I have been walking every day but that is it. I find it settles Ben to have a few hours sleep as otherwise he just does 20 mins here and there.

Thell - I live in Northfleet so if you are up for it perhaps we can meet up at Bluewater for a wander round and a coffee???? If you fancy it, CAT me and we can sort something out. Be good for me too as I have no other friends with babies and havent started a postnatal group yet either and it would be great to see you and Sally too Grin

Here is a question re periods. I stopped bleeding a few weeks ago after having Ben and came on last Sat and I have been really heavy and still bleeding almost two weeks on - is this normal after a baby??? It is a little lighter now but is still much heavier and longer than normal. Ben has his jabs next Wed so was going to mention it to the doctor if I'm still bleeding then as I would have been "on" for two and a half weeks by then!!!

Right that's it, I'm knackered, off to bed - hope you all get a good nights sleep.

TicTac - was wondering how you are???????

Chloe55 · 07/04/2006 09:07

Morning girls,

Hmmm ds has taken to his routine being to get up at 1am and 4am every morning again - lovely! Angry Flame, maybe you have the right idea afterall!

3k - Not sure about the heavy bleeding but I thought I was gonna come on the other day, passed a bit of blood then nothing other than very mild period pains - I guess our bodies are a bit messed up and not quite sure what to do at the moment.

I told DH I was thinking about doing the Race For Life. Wish I hadn't now as he is telling everyone I am doing it and keeps commenting on how I plan to get in shape for it, oh god! I can't run for peanuts, I'd get 2 black eyes! So am planning on taking it at a nice stroll instead. Does anyone know if you can do the Race with baby in the pram?
