Morning girls,

I am loving the routine thing - I advise anyone not yet doing it with their babies to do so as since we have done ds goes longer and longer in sleep through the night - last night he slept from 8pm until 5am!!!!! Grin I hope this isn't just a fluke though!

Frizbe - must be the time for boilers to jack it in, hope you get yours sorted soon.

Jasnem - I hope your dh gets his act together and helps you out a bit more.

Ixel - my dh is also very helpful but I am getting a bit sick of hearing how hard his job is, that he is the one putting tea on the table (he may just be jesting but it pisses me off) and that he can't be tired for work.......er am I meant to be tired looking after ds during the day then? Is being a SAHM not a full time job? Then I get all the "you have to go back to work ASAP, this is what you need to earn for us to survive, why hasn't the washing been done - what have you done all day? blah blah bloody blah" It's a bit like a broken record in our house at the moment. I must admit I do tend to do the night time get ups with ds but I don't think that I should do every one as I believe that looking after ds can be just as stressful, sometimes more so than when I did a full day at work.

JuA · 03/04/2006 10:03

Hello all
Not getting much time to post at the moment ... but currently have 2 sleeping babies and dd1 is happy playing "cooking" and I am only required to eat/drink whatever she makes!
Well done on the sleeping Chloe! My 2 have dropped a feed so are now having 5 in 24 hours. Although they have dropped the late evening one rather than the middle of the night one! I can't decide if it is worth trying to do a dream feed at about 10.30 in the hope that they will then sleep through until 7am but I think they may just wake in the middle of the night aswell!

Hugs to everyone who hasn't got a helpful dh - they do seem to forget or don't realise what a fulltime job looking after a baby is. Sometimes I think going to work would be a rest! That said dh is being fantastic - he always feeds a baby in the middle of the night and before he goes to work, and on the odd occasion has fed both together! He takes dd1 out swimming / to the library when he gets the chance. I am very lucky :)

Helen38 · 03/04/2006 10:10

Hello!

I know somw of you may hate me for this but I have had sleep!!!!! he has gone 8 hrs the last 2 nightsGrin from about 9-30 I feel so fuzzy my body isn't used to this much sleepWink
Thrush still v painfull, got tablets for it saturday so hoping that they work soon, has anyone else had them and did they work?

Was going to say stuff to people but can't remember what i read as it was 2 hrs ago before school run plus feeding and now am being cried at so will try again later.

Jasnem · 03/04/2006 11:06

Helen - can't hate you for sleeping..just a bitEnvy though.

Mornings are good (once I wake myself up a bit) The dds are busy dragging each other round the house on a blanket (?) They are anjoying it, and ds has gone back to sleep despite the screaching.

DP does know what a full time job child care is and acknowledges that he can't do it, which makes me feel a bit better. Also bf means I have to do the night thing as I don't express at all.
I went to work in the local Co op stacking shelves when DD2 was about 6 months, for a rest. I remember why now!

Frizbe · 03/04/2006 12:46

Hehe know what you mean there Jas, dh's 'cooking' at the weekends has decended into us having Pizza on saturday nights (he can do toast n cereal for breakfasts, and soup or sarnies for lunch) and then we've taken to going out on Sundays for 'proper' food....I keep pointing out we can't really afford it, but its suiting him......ahem.....
Sympathies with all of you suffering with dh's who don't realise how much time little ones actually take up......
Helen Envy of your 8hrs last night, we dropped our 5 hrs sleep last night in favour of waking every 2.....although I'm sure that was also to do with it being rather cold, as no boiler = no heating, and mummy is much warmer right Smile, plumber coming out tomorrow, fingers x'd not too much longer to do the fix.......(parts etc)

Tabs · 03/04/2006 13:05

Back from scan. Left DD asleep with DH minding (working from home today) and a bottle of expressed milk in case she wanted feeding, and returned 1 1/2 hrs later to comment of 'well I don't know what the big deal is with looking after Pippa - that was the easiest 2 hours of my life!' Luckily he was joking, but she had been asleep the whole time :).

Scan confirmed that I have gall stones. They will send full report to my GP and I have to go and see him in a couple of weeks to get results and discuss options for treatment.

Frizbe - phew for plumber being available at short notice.

Chloe - very impressive amount of sleep. Bottle fed babies do tend to sleep longer though (apparently!) so not sure that Pippa would be that obliging at present, but quite happy with her performance last night.

Bugger about the gall stones Tabs, that can't be pleasant. I hope they can be treated through medication or will you need an op?

Tabs · 03/04/2006 13:21

Don't know yet Chloe - have started a thread on here to see what other people have had as treatment.

Quick q for those of you with older children... Have just agreed to pick up friend's DD from nursery on thurs as she had c-sec couple of weeks ago, but do I need any special sort of seat for her? She's 3 1/2.

Bump for Tabs as presumably you are leaving shortly

Chloe55 · 03/04/2006 16:35

Oops - just noticed you are going on Thursday, not today Blush

3k · 03/04/2006 17:37

Hi Ladies,

I have also had a good few nights with Ben, he slept from 11.30pm last night to 7am and is going at least 6 hours the other few nights which is great. He then has a feed around 7am and then sleeps to 10am which is fab although through the day he feeds, feeds and feeds!!!!!! Cant complain I suppose but he has been hard work today. He was whinging just now and I heated his bottle and went into the living room and he was fast asleep on his mat!! I didnt read him that well then thinking he wanted food and then had a sleep instead!

Tabs - when will you have your gallstones sorted? Doesnt sound nice, hope you are not in too much pain.

No other news from me really, had HV round this morning about post natal depression but I seem to have made a full recover now and she is pleased with me. I said I didnt feel that I needed her to come back again but I have to finish my course of antidepressants too but other than that I'm feeling a lot better Smile

4blue1pink · 03/04/2006 17:55

Hi everyone, sorry not to be here much but five is a wee bit taxing!
Baby boy is still unnamed but still an angel ....he sleeps 8.30 till 8.30 but with a dream feed at 11.30 ...love-bug.
I took him out today and a friend told me 'I must admit he is different looking - very strong features' Sad I came away feeling all protective of him! Anyone else had any comments that hurt?

Chloe55 · 03/04/2006 18:30

Awwww 4b1p, my ds actually is quite a good looking baby (and I'm not biased...well, maybe) but my bro has started calling him Phil Mitchell because he is a bruiser with not much hair Grin

Jasnem · 03/04/2006 18:53

DP has taken all 3 out with him!!!!!!Grin I only had to threaten to lock him out if he left me on my own again!

3k - great news that you're feeling well again. Envy at all these sleepy babies.

4b1p - some people can be so insensitiveShock She probably didn't mean it the way it sounded.

Tabs- hope your gall stones can be sorted quickly..no wonder your "afterpains" were so bad!
Car seat for 3 1/2 yr old. She'll probably need at least a booster seat (ideally one with a back. Her mum should be able to lend you hers though, ideally.

ixel · 03/04/2006 19:08

I am officially jealous Jasnem! But to be fair, I texted dh a shopping list for his way home today, which he got, including 'and a box of posh chocs to make me happy' Smile And I'm feeling very good as I managed to sort out 4 boxes of toys while ds2 was asleep (gave a few to ds1 to trash, which kept him occupied!), and also managed to let ds1 do some random cutting and gluing withoutit descending into chaos.

I'm through the mastitis I think, still got a few tablets left to take, but I've got such sore nipples at the moment! I have a sneaky feeling that I need a bigger bra now and that is causing the problem, but I cant face trekking with 2 kids to get measured!

Jasnem · 04/04/2006 08:49

I've got pre- pregnancy jeans on!!!Grin Not gloating, just excited, as I've resisted trying them on til now so it was a very pleasant surprise.

ellenrose · 04/04/2006 12:08

OK Jasnem, now I'm jealous Envy too. Walking around in trousers two sizes too large as still not small enough to get into pre-pregnancy jeans yet.

Thell · 04/04/2006 14:05

hello all.
getting a bit bored during the day now, with company at a minimum Sad
have joined nct though, so will get out more hopefully when the info of events comes through.

sally is 5 wks, and growing more gorgeous daily Smile
very unsettled the last few days - feeding little and often - sometimes every hour, bit more grizzly, sleeping for short snatches and is easily disturbed. back to 2hourly feeds at night, and sleeping on our bed again instead of her bedside cot. guess she's gearing up for the 6wk grizzly peak. would be nice to hear from someone else that it's all normal,...?!

lots of sympathy to you guys having dh trouble - if we lived closer i'd offer my services / suggest joining forces. i'd certainly appreciate the company!

ixel, whereabouts are you? i'm now in chislehurst, nr bromley.

ixel · 04/04/2006 16:22

Thell, I'm in North London.
Jasnem, I just DONT want to hear about people in real clothesEnvy
'Passed' my 6 wk check today though, so I can start running again now. Its just a matter of finding time!!

cuffyj1 · 04/04/2006 20:06

Just in the middle of trying a routine but as i'm typing ds is going to sleep in my arms so not doing very well!!

Cuddled him downstairs for a while til he was asleep put him in his cot and he woke up, i went down and listened on monitor, he was just stretching and groaning for about 15 mins then started crying so like an idiot i've come up and am cuddling him to sleep again.

I really want to get out of cuddling him to sleep but i just can't leave him to scream.

I'll give it another go he's asleep now. Fingers crossed.

Flamesparrow · 04/04/2006 20:12

Ellenrose - I'm in two sizes too big too. :(

Saw the doctor today, and he told me that they don't do internals at 6 week checks unless you've had stitches and have concerns about them so want a check Shock Is that normal everywhere?? What are they "checking" if its not girly bits??? Oh, and whereas when DD was born if you wanted a coil, they'd put it in at the six week check, they won't now (or at least not at this surgery) - I have to make an appointment with the family planning section, so have to find childcare for 2 appointments Angry. Itchy breasts is apparantly odd Blush... he doesn't knw what causes it, but thinks it might be due to me stretching ducts when I was getting so engorged with the dodgy feeding, and now its healing/getting back to normal. It feels kind of like healy itchy (like a scab as it heals), so he could be right.

Tired and grumpy. DH has a cold, so is clearly dying. Great comment from him last night "Should I be holding Emrys if I have a cold?" My reply was a growled "You just try not holding him...." Grin

Frizbe · 04/04/2006 21:17

Good on ya flame! blokes honestly!

Jas, well done for getting dh sorted Grin and fab re the jeans, I've managed to squidge into two pairs of size 14's but there is a lovely baby belly hanging over the top of them Blush not complaining tho, as took me 9mths to get back into them last time, so very happy this time round Smile

Tabs, hope you get treated soon hon {{{Hugs}}} have posted on beanie thread, re pumping, as discovered this afternoon, I can pump better with dd feeding from one boob and me pumping the other, how bizzare!
Oh and 2nd Jas re the car seat, minimum booster, but remember ss being in what is now dd's stage two seat until he was about 5.....

3k, glad your feeling better hon Smile

Hi to everyone else, boiler is fixed Grin lots of nice heating and hot water, hurrah!!

Jasnem · 04/04/2006 22:14

I will admit to saggy belly over the top of the jeans too, but i'm not planning on wearing short tops so I don't really care much.
DP has just offered to take kids out again on Thursday...he's finally doing his bit.Grin

Tabs - haven't read your thread, just Frizbes comment, but I've said here before; I can't really express at all(not even going to bother trying this time) but the only time I got anything was when I had a baby attached to the other side. Assume my body just thought I had twins!

Yay for Frizbe having heating againSmile

Flame - from what I remember I only had a feel of the belly and "how are you feeling" type thing at 6 week checks before. Got my coil fitted at family planning as gp was only willing to do it during my period. Not much help when bf. Didn't have one for six months, and that's how I ended up with DD2. Had to take mini pill for 6 weeks first as wasn't prepared to take any chances and had to wait that long for clinic appt.
Got my 6 week check booked for 8 weeks (waiting 'til after school hols to avoid childcare problem.) Def get a new coil too but daren't even think about being pulled and poked yet Blush so abstinence will work for me 'til I'm feeling braver.

Cuffy - cuddling to sleep would be a step forward for me. I'm still feeding ds to sleep. Am trying to keep him awake more in day, and feed more often in the hope of getting better night, but no noticable improvement yet. My routine will have to fit round school day too so may try something after Easter.
