northern I hope DH application is approved.

Quick question for aethel or anyone else. After an early mc do periods normally start straight away again? If so I'm late Confused

aethelfleda · 10/08/2012 05:39

Early morning feed [m]...

seven it is quite normal for a delay from a few weeks to a few months in the first period returning after a MC, whether early or late. Think of it as a kind of reset notification, the first AF confirming mentally "good to go now". It's an old wives tale that you should wait for AF before TTC again, but if you do it may make dating timings a bit easier and some ladies feel better psychOlogically if they know they have restarted ovulating. Amd keep taking that folic acid! !

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 10/08/2012 07:03

Aethel Well Done on surviving and hope DH arrival is soon Smile Being a previous single parent I know how hard it is.

Oi Your Sushi looked delish last night Envy hope your trip home is okay.

Seven hope DS is better soon. The house sounds like its coming along well Smile

Both girl's are still asleep. Not a lot happening here today - park maybe...that's it tho.

mopsytop · 10/08/2012 07:04

Sorry to hear about kyla kitty and well done on the weight loss.
Good work on the cleaning northern, must clean the bathroom myself as mil coming today. Working from home so can do at lunchtime.

Nearly there aethel! It must have felt like a long 2 weeks. We have had several full nights of sleep in a row yippee!

GeeandTee · 10/08/2012 07:04

Screaming every hour from midnight then up at 5am :( it makes no sense, absolutely nothing has changed from the last few nights when she only woke once. Fed up :(

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 10/08/2012 08:50

Northern Nothing like a big clean to brighten the day Smile I need to give my bathroom a once over and get the Hoover & polish out but feel awful - sodding sore throat. Can't even talk properly Sad

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 10/08/2012 08:51

Gee No advice really as never had that problem. I think maybe see your GP as she could be suffering reflux or something x

seven77 · 10/08/2012 08:59

Sorry gee, sending caffeine vibes your way.

Thanks aethel. We can't ttc again until the end of the month to avoid me being due (based on the previous 2 prem births) on or before marathon weekend!

dsm you need to be taking it easy and getting better before the wedding!

DS is a bit better today. He says he feels ok but temp still up, calpol seems to working to bring it down today though. I'm trying to make him just take it easy today.

AWomanCalledHorse · 10/08/2012 09:09

Gee, we have the same baby, he was a nightmare from midnight, kept on waking up screaming but didn't want anything...I'm so worried that later on he'll inherit my insomnia & we'll never get a full nights sleep from him.
We're going to try putting him in his room tonight, I'll sleep with him on his bed for tonight/however long it takes as maybe hearing us moving about is waking him, IYSWIM?

Aethel, well done! DH does the night stuff here so when he works nights I can't sleep as I'm terrified I won't wake up when DS needs me.

AF got me, if anyone of you were actively trying for a baby (we weren't!) is there anything you did differently to get your DC?

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 10:14

AWCH I charted my temp, cervical mucus (tmi sorry Blush) & cervix position to get pregnant with DS & got pregnant the second month trying. :)

Rocco didn't have a great night, very restless, cried a few times :( I'm such a wuss; I'm used to sleeping through even though he's still feeding hourly(?) as we're bedsharing so I feel pretty rough. He's been grumpy all morning & has with great effort just squeezed out a small hard poo. We were out for a few hours yesterday & he was on my back so he didn't nurse as much as usual, I guess he's a bit dehydrated, but he nursed loads overnight Confused. He's so miserable today, keeps screaming for no obvious reason, I hope he has his morning soon >_

CherryBlossom27 · 10/08/2012 10:56

Hi everyone,

Excited my 15 minute meal ideas is on discussions of the day :)

I've made a meal plan for the weeks as we're going food shopping tonight. DS is grumpy from 5-7pm really so if I can sort out dinners I will be much less stressy! I have a good feeling that next week will be a lot easier.

I've got the autumn surestart program and much more seems to be going on which is good for me & DS.

Quick question for those who have gone back to work - can I add my holiday accumulated for this year to the end of my maternity leave?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 10/08/2012 11:00

Way to go Cherry Grin

AWCH I have an app on my iPhone that tracks AF called iPeriod. Told me roughly when I am due to ovulate and we tried..ahem..a lot over 5 days and fell first month of trying Wink

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 11:11

iPeriod Grin love it! You must be pretty regular for that to work though dsm I had a short luteal phase so the usual apps etc put my ovulation day 4 -5 days earlier than it was :(

seven hope your ds is feeling better.

well done Cherry...I'll go have a read :)

AWomanCalledHorse · 10/08/2012 11:19

Thanks for the tips Honey & DSM!
My AF has gone stupidly long since DS, 34 day cycle now, but we've been having sex every other day (almost) since the 6wk check-up and it's not worked so far, so we're looking at trying anything, think we'll try charting this month!

Still waiting for DS's morning nap here too HLC, we've got hard small poos, even though I practically poured the channel down his throat last night in water. When DH is back on normal shifts post-paralympics he's going to try a routine with DS, I'm a wuss with his crying too (esp. when he's going 'mamama'), hope your day gets easier!

Cherry, glad you've found some activities for you & DS!
Our surestart centres seem to be populated by women who want to discuss nothing but how wonderful pushchairs are, so I'm holding out for a decent 1'oclock club or something in the new year!
Will have to have a read of your thread! We stick to shop bought gnocchi or baked potatoes midweek as they're easy so some inspiration would be great!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 10/08/2012 11:27

Honey My period arrives every 28 days on the spot. I ovulate early - I get a pain when I ovulate - so I work around the window on the app and we fell first month with Sky Smile

CherryBlossom27 · 10/08/2012 11:30

Gnocchi & baked potatoes will be on the list for the following week AWCH :o I think if I can get 5-7pm sorted I will be less stressy so much better as a mum! I used to spend ages cooking as I'm really slow and tend to stick everything in one pot e.g. chilli or things that are easy but take ages like cottage pie.

On the TTC bit DH and I just stopped using contraception and said we'd see what happened. I got pregnant on honeymoon :) Was so funny watching everyone count backwards to figure out when I'd conceived! I hope everyone TTC now has good luck!

Argh! I'm still missing being pregnant :(

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 11:43

Ooooh, I'm one of the 1 in 5 women who get ovulation pain too, aren't we lucky Hmm Well, it helps with ttc at least :) Saw a pregnant friend the over day & she looked amazing...I miss my bump!

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 11:45

AWCH hw do you get so much water in him? Are you bfing, sorry I can't remember...this is the first time I wished DS would take a bottle as I think he could really do with some water & he's more interested in the cup than what's in it >_

GeeandTee · 10/08/2012 12:31

Well I decided to go cold turkey on the potty training so we bought DS some pants yesterday. He was adamant he wanted green ones and I was a bit worried that when we got to the shop there wouldn't be any but we were in luck for once! We've only had one accident so far and that was when he watching tv while I got dinner ready and we all know that (in general) the male of the species can only concentrate on one thing at a time ;) is it possible he will be fully trained by the time we get on a plane next week?!

GeeandTee · 10/08/2012 12:32

HLC what back-carrying sling do you use? And I assume you can get it on by yourself? DD is 21lbs now and although I love my moby I have a few back problems and she's just starting to feel a bit too heavy for front carrying.

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 13:58

I use a woven gee feeling very pleased with myself as I've just got the hang of back carrying with a size 2 wrap (only 2.7m) which I found quite hard. Longer wraps are easier to start with. I also have a connecta (a soft structured carrier) but I'm mainly a wrap girl :) I do get him up & it on myself, takes practice but it gets easier. Are you in the fb group. I used my 2 yesterday & got him wrapped without a mirror in a car park, I can post a pic if you like? I've done it loads with longer wraps but you've got more leeway if one pass isn't tight enough you've always got the next one iyswim? If you want to talk carriers & not hog the board, feel free to pm me :)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 10/08/2012 14:02

Honey Can you use he moby carrying on the back?

Love my man loads, he's upgraded our arrival on our honeymoon - so instead of coach transfer we are having a helicopter transfer instead Grin

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 14:18

No dsm it is not safe to use stretchy wraps on your back; exceptions to the rule are hybrid wraps like "je porte mon bebe"

Heli ride sounds amazing :)

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 14:33

Don't think I mentioned in any of my catch-ups; I joined a Natural Parenting & Slingmeet group on fb a couple of months ago & have somehow ended up as admin for the group Confused, we have monthly meets at parks, cafes, beaches, Eden project but have no indoor premises so I'm trying to get one of the Surestart centres on board before winter. Also hoping to start a sling library so I'm keeping very busy!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 10/08/2012 14:34

Honey What material wrap do you recommend for back?
