HLC I'm not on fb and would love to see a pic if you have time to put one up. I am wondering about getting one before we go on hols next week but haven't left myself much time!

dsm lucky you! Although I am v scared of helicopters so have told DH never to make me go on one!

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 14:45

Wow, that's a question & a half. So many different brands, fabrics & patterns. I started with a cotton guaze which I still use as it's lovely & thin for summer but they can be quite diggy on your shoulders if you don't wrap right, bamboo is lovely & soft but heavier, wool mixes are great for winter, linen makes a wrap stronger & better for carrying heavy babies or even toddlers.

I've got a really good link somewhere about wraps, hang on I'll try to find it :)

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 14:48

Here you go dsm

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 14:54

It takes a while to get the hang of back wrapping gee so I'd probably go for a soft structured carrier (like a connecta or r&r like kitty has)or a mei tai for your holiday. Give me a shout on fb & I'll add you to the for sale or trade group, buying preloved will be cheaper & if you don't love it you can always sell it when you get back.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 10/08/2012 14:56

Honey So many to choose from. Which brands to you have, that I can wear on my back that is similar to my moby?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 10/08/2012 14:58

Ooo 7days & 8 sleeps to go Grin

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 15:27

Tagged you on fb dsm you can back carry with any woven but it depends on your personal preference & how much you're willing to pay Wink You're in luck though, Southampton has a sling library www.southamptonslingmeet.com/library/

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 16:54

Gee I misread your post & added a load of pics to fb group for you Doh! I'll add them to my profile instead :)

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 17:13

Ok Gee You should be able to see them now & if you want to buy preloved you can try this site: naturalmamas.co.uk/forum/index.php

Lovely sunny afternoon to you ladies

We've been out to the national arboretum for a walk and picnic with workmate and her lo who is 2wks younger than DS. She's still off on mat leave lucky lady then this afternoon a teacher friend came round with her 3yr old and we sat in garden for a chat. Find it hate to cram everything into 1 day off in the week.

On the TTc front we waited until I turned 30 as wanted to be able to have a full bday blow out, that was last January was very casual about it all and was pg mid march

Kitty5824 · 10/08/2012 18:20

TTC: we'd been not trying NOT to get pregnant for a while (i.e. no contraceptives!) and decided we didn't want a December baby so would not try for a month........clearly planning not our strong point!!!!

Honey I'm off to a sling meet on Monday that I only found out about on fb so thanks for adding me to the group. I've also arranged to play with some wraps whilst I'm there Smile

HoneyLovesCake · 10/08/2012 18:46

I've got a slingmeet on Monday too :) They're lots of fun.

GeeandTee · 10/08/2012 19:35

HLC thank you SO much for the pics. I love the look of the wrap ones but I think you're right the connecta would probably be the best bet for now. Will check out that forum. Thank you!

NorthernChinchilla · 10/08/2012 20:11

We did bugger all about ttc (barring stopping the pill, obv Wink), and didn't even think about avoiding a December baby... I was convinced, given my family history, that it would be a miracle if I got pregnant (and more of one if I stayed pregnant) so was truly gobsmacked when it took one cycle, and badabing, DS arrived 9 months later!
Have you tried the 'getting really drunk whilst thinking I'd better not conceive now, hic' method AWCH - it worked for one of our family friends with IVF!

That's really WOW DSM! Where are you going on honeymoon? I'd love a heli ride, sounds fantastic. I'm actually off to a wedding tomorrow- it is a self-described I hasten to add, chav wedding, where the bride is very pregnant and assures us there will be a fight amongst the rellies. I don't know her, but am going along as the +1 of my friend Confused

Good luck to Captain Green Pants Gee, but so sorry you had a crap night. Hopefully overall it's heading in the right direction?

You do know you're MN royalty once that happens Cherry, we'll all have to bow to you now!

Did your bathroom get scrubbed in honour of MIL mopsy? The chuck out was very successful here, and now we'll spend the week doing the spring cleaning: I'll leave a list of things for DP to do, seeing as he's at home, and I'll do the garden this weekend and bits and bobs during the week: I shall dust! The skirting boards will be cleaned! Glass and mirrors may even be polished!

Soooo glad it's the weekend, and the Charity Shield on Sunday too Grin

hawthers · 10/08/2012 20:26

We just did very very carefully timed by me unbeknownst to DH shagging Blush and were incredibly fortunate to get pg at once.

GeeandTee · 10/08/2012 20:26

No accidents for Captain Green Pants today :) not bad for first full day of potty training!

I think I may be about to spend some money on slings...

TTC DS took ages and included lots of charting, getting stressed etc. TTC DD took 3 months after stopping bfeeding (and getting period back) and a long lazy Sunday morning (sorry TMI!!)

Look forward to hearing the chav wedding report.

dsm are you going to post photos?!

OiMissus · 10/08/2012 20:37

cherry you can add your holidays to the end of your mat leave, and any bank holidays you missed. - I didn't know about this, but one of the girls on my team did. She submitted her coming back to work plan, and then the wage payers looked back... I'm getting an extra 3 days pay this month for the 3 bank holidays over Christmas!! Yippee!

OiMissus · 10/08/2012 20:41

As for ttc, I gave up the pill in October and started using condoms until after the weddink. Got married mid November. Did not do any charting or anything - in that 4 months I only had 2 periods. But, after cadgillions of years in the pill, and being 38, I thought 4 mths was good going.

mopsytop · 10/08/2012 20:50

Yes Northern, clean bathroom here!

AWCH, I have no advice, I'm afraid... I got pref after a week of trying (I know, ridiculous, I come from a crazy fertile family, we all seem to get pregnant at the drop of a hat - v glad I was always do v careful about contraception in my 20s!!). My body told me I think the day of implantation- my boobs went from a B to a DD overnight on I think day 14 of so of my cycle. Literally overnight. We had only stopped using contraception 10 days earlier! I didn't believe it of course, I thought it couldn't be possible, but it was! I hoe it's as easy next time. But I had a horrible pregnancy ugh. Not sure I can go through it again really. Need more time for the awfulness to fade...

DSM and Honey, I too get horrible Mittelschmerz. It's so painful but only lasts a day.

MissRee · 10/08/2012 20:53

Ahhh TTC... I only fell pregnant because I had a laser light show and lots of chopping and drilling done in my (inside) ladybits Grin I had been told for almost 10 years previous that I'd never fall pregnant without IVF!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 10/08/2012 21:10

Northern & Mopsy Nice to see you have good clean scrubbed houses Grin

Honey thanks for all your fab sling/wrap info & muffin recipe today Smile

Gee I will add photos in her as well as FB.

Was treated out to dinner up our local Wetherspoons tonight and a couple of friends met us too. Darcie is at nanny's so just had Sky who was good as gold. Home to chill now x

AWomanCalledHorse · 10/08/2012 21:55

mopsy Envy My mum is crazy fertile so I wished some of it would rub off on me!
So interesting to hear what a varied bunch we are...MissRee glad it all worked out alright in the end, I get all emotional when I hear of people who've gone through the mill trying for a baby.
My only RL experience of a couple needing assistance ttc are on their 9th IVF attempt (unexplained infertility), no pregnancies :(

Honey aka WrapGoddess, all your posting has gotten my spending fingers excited..must buy wraps.. Grin

You asked a few pages back about getting DS to drink water, he's ff but we've given him a sippy cup of water everyday since he was 4 months old, I just leave it on the floor for him to go for, pretend to drink from it (he's a food thief) or if he's thirsty he does a goldfish pouting action at me.

Northen, sounds like you're in for a great day tomorrow!
DSM, helicopter sounds, urm, scary (I hate heights) hope you enjoy it though...sounds like you & stbDH are getting on alot better recently? Yay!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!
DS is off to PIL on Sunday night, I'm going up on the Wednesday so looking forward to that time alone (and missing him loads).

mopsytop · 10/08/2012 22:08

Yeah AWCH, I know I am so so lucky!! I felt like my horrible pregnancy was a payback for the ease with which I got pregnant, iyswim.

NorthernChinchilla · 10/08/2012 22:31

I remember you saying about how they'd got all NASA-stylee on your ovaries MissRee, with an extremely cute result Grin

And yes mopsy, being one of three and your Mum having six under six (if I remember right?) it sounds like you only need to look in your OH's direction and you'd be up-duffed!

I will report back from tomorrow's excitement; Bob alone knows what will happen but fingers crossed it passes off peacefully.

And good luck to Captain Green Pants Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 10/08/2012 22:34

By the way Oi, were you still on mat leave over Easter, as of course you'd get those BHs too? Owing to the time I was off I've ended up with about seven extra days, because of Xmas, Easter/May day bank hols and the Jubilee.
