Yawn yawn football yawn! Where's OBEM or 24hrs in A&E when you need them?
I had a big clear out of BOi's clothes yesterday. Kiddie clothes are completely nonsensical. He is now in 12-18mth and 9-12 mth sizes, but there are a couple of tops in size 3-6mths that still fit.
I need to buy him a coat for playing out in at nursery.
I'll look at your photo tomorrow xiao, it won't work from the phone.
Well done to nappy-free older siblings, and a warm welcome to some new imaginary friends. Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 18/09/2012 21:44

The middle minion never did imaginary friends, the elder one had an entire troupe of them. They were collectively known as 'the girls' and each had a puppy. Good times:o

Octoboy is in 6-9 in some clothes, but 9-12 in most things as he is being loooooong!

Honestly Northern, I really can't be bothered to stress about it any more. I've been through years of poking, prodding and operations so i know the drill and am thoroughly bored of it. Of course another operation will mean a couple of weeks off work playing with Freya recovering Grin I just want the bleeding stop - I'm overdue a smear by about 18 months but since being pregnant, every time I make an appointment to get it done, I start bleeding again!

So much for all the experts telling ms that pregnancy and childbirth will be the miracle cure Hmm

mopsytop · 18/09/2012 22:06

Hi all sorry for not responding to anyone and me me me post but my ear has been twinging for past 2 days and now suddenly is v painful and keeps popping painfully as well as horrible throbby pain. Suffered badly from ear infections as a child (and had lots of gromets) but haven't had an earache since my mid teens. Seriously fed up as I know how painful it's going to get (and it's bad enough already) and we are going on hols tomo evening til Sunday and it is our only summer hol and I don't want it ruined. Going to be at GP surgery at 8.15 tomo morn to try make sure I canget seen by a doctor tomo but feeling v hard done by :(

BJR · 18/09/2012 22:18

Not sure if you'd be covered by the same area as me Northern but my HV said that they are so short staffed around here at the moment that they aren't able to follow guidelines for when checks are being done. So normal checks aren't happening as they should be if everything else is ticking over nicely.

OiMissus · 19/09/2012 07:27

Wow Xiao! Your LO looks like a little boy rather than a baby. He's gorgeous.
Where did our babies go? They are little boys already. And as soon as they master walking that'll be it. :(
I mean, it's great, it's exciting, it's fun. Watching them develop is amazing, but the time is just flying by.
((hugs)) for mopsy and gee and anyone else feeling under the weather/having medical ishews.
BTW BOi is loving his forward facing car seat, we get more interaction, and he likes being able to see more. I feel that he's really safe and snug with his impact shield - rather than harnesses, so I feel less guilty about not buying RF.

GeeandTee · 19/09/2012 09:06

missree that sounds like a right pain, hope they get to the bottom of it today.

mopsy hope you get some very effective antibiotics and it all goes away quickly and you can enjoy your holiday, very bad timing indeed.

oi what seat did you go for? We use the Kiddy seats which have impact shields instead of harnesses and I LOVE them. DD isn't in hers yet but I have a mirror facing her on the back of the passenger seat so I can see her in the rear view mirror and she spends ages squealing at herself and sticking her tongue out.

Not heard anything about an 8mo check but that could be because I never go and see the HVs...

OiMissus · 19/09/2012 09:27

We got the , in Rumba. I had a mirror for the RF seat, and now I've stuck it on the back of the passenger seat, so he can still gaze at himself if he so wishes. :)

mopsytop · 19/09/2012 11:29

Ear infection and ear drum perforated so I got antibiotics and have already started themso hopefully they'll kick in soon...

Hope you're all enjoying this fab crisp autumn weather!

OiMissus · 19/09/2012 12:24

Soggy crisps here mopsy. Nothing fab here. Just rain and greyness. Not that it really matters in my office.
In other news, DH starts his new temp part-time job tomorrow and has heard it is only temporary until they find the right candidate to make permanent. And he has got an interview for another job, permanent, full time. things are looking up. I have spent some time this morning detailling everything I want to do with the house and how much it might cost, and how much we can save with DH's temp job income, and then a timeline of when we can do everything. I think, if I get a reasonable bonus next May, I can do the majority of the important jobs within 12 months. After that, we will be able to have holidays (!), and start using any savings to start reducing the mortgage.
If he gets a full time job, we could stick to the same timeline, and have a holiday.
...as long as I don't shop so much in the meantime. Or drastically reduce my shoppi habits, ie. forget Karen Millen and AllSaints, and instead think Benneton/Zara etc. (benneton's new online shop just opened - there's a dress for £35 that would be a great work staple... dum de dum de dum...)

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/09/2012 13:08

We are home and boy is it cold! Will catch up properly tomorrow once we've had some sleep! Smile

Xiaoxiong · 19/09/2012 13:39

Glad northern and Oi and everyone liked the picture of DS - he really is so big, a little boy and not a baby any more and I feel like the time is all just running away from me. Thank goodness I only have 7 more days full-time in the office and then I go part time, and I worked from home Monday and again today because dumpling boy is still sick with the cold that is going round. I'm too PFB to leave him with the nanny when I will be 2 hours away and unable to get back quickly.

Thanks for the rec aethel - will check out elastic moccasins toot de sweet. I'm so pleased you're going to view houses, sending good vibes your way for dream house!

Good luck to your DH Oi - who knows, maybe he'll be faced with the choice between making the temp job permanent and accepting the other job he's about to interview for Smile I had some great Benneton maternity stuff when I was pg but have found their jumpers bobble quite quickly.

mopsy boo sorry about your ears! I hope you're outside kicking piles of leaves and scrumping apples to distract yourself from the misery.

MsRee hope they figure out what's going on - I hate just normal bleeds at the best of times, would be going out of my mind in your position.

Boo to babies still not sleeping well - ours is just like yours Kate but no teeth in evidence, think it's just sheer cussedness, habit, coldishness and DH being too lazy soft to do anything but pick him up when he wakes and bring him straight into our bed for a breastfeed so he can go back to sleep and I get used as a teether. I really need to have a chat with DH about not doing that any more as the message to DS is that the merest peep and he'll end up snuggled in bed with us having a nice chomp on the nearest nip (somehow never one that belongs to DH...I think if DH had a chomp or two in the small hours things would be very different).

Figgygal · 19/09/2012 13:46

Xiao just saw the pic of DS again he looks so grown up!!

I woke up at 5.30 this morning decided to not bother trying to get back to sleep as mentally i was preparing for DS to wake up any time as he usually wakes up between 5.30 and 6.30 with the likelihood of him returning sleep post milk reducing as it gets closer to 6.30.....of course this morning he woke at 6.50!!! Never happy am i :-)

OiMissus · 19/09/2012 16:07

I am having a v frustrating day. It would appear that everyone in my team has removed their brains today. I have spent all day explaining why things work the way they do, being the go-between between my team and suppliers or other people in the org, answering emails with stupid questions that the senders already have answers to, and most annoyingly, I have sent 14 emails to my graphic designer, when one should have sufficed, because she should be the one opening her eyes and checking her work before she sends it to me!

OiMissus · 19/09/2012 16:12

And breathe... :) 966 messages, we'll be needing a new thread name soon. how about:
"December 2011 - The one where they all sleep through and are not ill, and neither are the mums"
Or, "December 2011 - The one where the mums DON'T feel like divorcing their DHs, and no haddocks are required"

CherryBlossom27 · 19/09/2012 16:22

Hi everyone,

I've been very bad and decided I need a new baby carrier/sling ASAP before we go on holiday so I've just gone ahead and ordered one online (yeay for credit cards!). I've been speaking to my team leader and I'm going to squeeze in my remaining 5 KIT days between now and End of November so I know I can pay off my credit card very shortly.

FIL seems to have done a total u-turn re. weaning and was praising up DS's eating skills to my DBro who is visiting at the moment :) Happy days! I was asking about baby wearing in Hong Kong and could I get a carrier/sling there, so he is on the case. I might have two instead of one...

We have a Mothercare baby carrier and it's fine for short trips, but not comfortable for me for much more than that, plus now I know about their knees needing to be up so I can't ignore that. DH will come around, I've been going on about it for long enough ;)

Oi just think, nearly home time!

Xiao I'd be the same with a poorly baby! Not pfb at all IMO.

Mopsy hope you're antibiotics kick in soon!

MissRee hope you get sorted soon, sounds awful :(

I can't remember who said, but DS is in 9-12 month jeans and every thing else is 12-18 months and sleeves rolled up :o

MissRee · 19/09/2012 16:38

What is it with super long sleeves Cherry? are our babies supposed to have chimp-like arms??? Grin

Xiaoxiong · 19/09/2012 17:16

Oi I like it - although going into cold/flu season, "The one where they all sleep through and everyone is healthy" might be wishful thinking...

It sounds like you've kicked your team's collective asses so I hope all your frustrations today pay off in the form of better work later on from them. Sorry it's been frustrating.

Cherry what did you order? (We love ours so not looking to replace it, just nosy about other people's purchases - vicarious shopping!) And glad your FIL has seen the light on weaning!

I've wasted most of the afternoon on MN - I turned a document this morning but have been too tired to focus on much else and I'm afraid of making mistakes.

Apropos of DHes and ishoos - an interesting development chez Xiao which is that DH and I are working together through a book on overcoming perfectionism using a CBT approach. For years he has put huge pressure on himself and has been very self-critical, which has had big pay-offs in the sense that he is blindingly high achieving in every area and everything he does he basically is amazing at. The downside is that at times of stress this becomes a liability not an asset. Now that we have DS he is trying to take every Sunday off from planning and marking to set aside family time, and it's becoming evident that he doesn't know how to do "good enough" rather than "perfect" and it's making him so anxious, it breaks my heart. He's also putting huge pressure on himself to be the best father to DS (not helped by his own father becoming a total shit overnight when DH became a father too, so he is almost trying to compensate for his father's failure).

He's very motivated to sort this out but at the moment he doesn't see how it's going to happen - I know he can do it, and I think he will be so liberated afterwards. I have it too to a lesser degree but somehow having DS has made it easier to deal with things being just good enough rather than perfect.

seven77 · 19/09/2012 21:31

Excuse my language but fuck, fuck and fuck again. My mum phoned, she had an email today from their solicitor, they want to complete by Friday or they'll re-sell their new house. The other party from our sale has signed the contract but there's still no sign of a completion date, no completion date from our remortgage to make up the remainder of what we owe them, and not a hope in hell of them having the money by Friday, or probably for another fortnight tbh. I feel sick, I don't need this pressure and I haven't dared tell DH, he'll go fucking mad. The developers have already sold their current house, thoigh it obviously hasng completed yet. At best they'll lose thousands, at worst they'll end up homeless. Angry and [fucking terrified].

LittleMissFlustered · 19/09/2012 21:53

I can't offer any advice, as I'm not a pro, but I didn't want to read and run.

You have to remember that you are not to blame here though. They made their choices :(

NorthernChinchilla · 19/09/2012 21:55

I'll join in the fucks...DP's flexible working request has been turned down.

Nowhere near as grim as seven's, nor as painful as mopsy, but pretty Sad here too....

seven77 · 19/09/2012 22:01

Thanks LMF.

And sorry northern, bastards :(

Aarrrr!

Sloblocks to annoying buyers, pushy solicitors and irritating Northern-hubby-boss arses.

Viewing a hobbit-hole house tomorrow (aka Chalet Style). And then going to heckle the estate agents re fantasy house just in case they hadn't twigged that we want to view it. The overbudget place in langley is feeling more an more tempting, though I can't get the warm fuzzy for it that the fantasy house has. I just wish we could view it sonwe know to either go for it or to move on.....

More rum!

Aethelfleda · 19/09/2012 23:10

Ninja style ((((hug)))) for seven too. Don't feel guilty, it is Not Your Fault.
