good evening ladies

katz glad you got your sample - result

the nurse at the local practice told me (while doing smear test!!) that my dd would be getting the MMR and Prevenar on the same day at 12 months!
really worried about this was planning on delaying MMR and maybe do them all seperate, anyone in same position?

also considering what to do about reducing b/f. i plan to go on for as long as she wants but only at night, once i go back to work. thought could cut mid day feed over the last couple of weeks of mat leave in may - does this mean she will need other milk to replace feeds?
must read on this

take care all

SFX - we didn't give ds his mmr and we're not planning on giving it to dd either. Never say never but we want to wait until just before school age if we decide to give at all. If you want to wait then wait. A friend waited until her ds was 2 and then gave it - no adverse reactions and she was happy that she waited. You're her parents, if you're happy to give it at 12 mths great, but if you want to wait, then wait until you're happier. Looked into singles but my issues are with mercury build up so singles = 6 x mercury load.

Sad Katz - hope dd1 feels better soon, if it's not one it's another - and then they give it to us! Wink

Sfx,
G.P has given me really really neutral advise and suggested these two websites (sorry havent fathomed links)
1,www.mmrthefacts.nhs.uk
2,www.patient.co.uk (search mmr)

I am obviously eager for all advice as dd1 is autistic and has igg2 which is an immune deficiency.
She did have a reaction to the MMR and have to stay in hospital suffering from a severe measels type illness but had she not had igg2 I don't think she would have done.
I knew that she had brain damage befor her MMR so can not accurately associate Autism and the reaction to the MMR (however tempting).

Really my gut feeling is that the majority of our fears about giving it to healthy kids has come from media stories. The study and its author that aroused peoples concerns and caused a frenzy of panick has since been discredited .
I know that single jabs are not available on the NHS and there is some debate about the longevity of their ingredients etc.

I am leaning more and more on the side of going for the all in one jab and doing it with crossed fingers .........but I am convinced that the two G.P's at my surgery who have recently given their own babies the MMR are telling me the truth when they say they wouldn't have a problem with giving DD2 the MMR.

It really is a difficult decision to make.

I think it is interesting that when the media showed the rise in cases of autism were coinsiding with the giving of MMR jabs they failed to show that the increase in cases were happening in the same proportions in the few years befor the start of the MMR.
It is also interesting that Autism is continuing to rise at the same time that MMR vacine takup has fallen . I am sure a significant numbesr of Autistic children will have never had the MMR.
I am not disputing that some parents have good reason to think that their children have been adversely affected by the MMR Jab...

Hi to everyone , sorry I am not keeping up.
Having a really crap time and I mean a REALLY crap time.
Love to all of you
xxx

Personally I am far more concerned at the new pneumoccocal jab than I am at MMR, which I am happy (if that's the right word when it comes to sticking a large needle in ds's leg!) for ds to have. But I also agree with everyone else - you're his Mum, so it's your decision and whichever way you decide you have to be comfortable with your decision. And you have to be able to make a balanced decision with all the facts to hand and without pressure from anybody. (You need a GP like Giddy's!) Sometimes it's just so hard to be a Mum, you only want what's right for your lo.
Sad giddy that you're having a lousy time (((hugs)))

hello all

2happy and giddy - thanks for replies. i too do not have major concerns regarding immunising healthy children, but i giving it all together and so early makes me unconfortable. we decided to ask to have them separate and a later. dd is not going to nursery so risk of exposure is lower.
nice hearing from you both anyway.

dd still has no teeth but is crawling around everywhere and pulling herself up on furniture, lots of tumbles too. she always makes a bee line for a large plant we have in the hall yanking the big leaves and giggling.
i hear a clicking sound from hip/leg(?) bit worried will try to see hv next week

dh at home until monday when he starts new job, think its supposed to be nice but slightly getting on my nervesShock

take care all

SFX - I think that's why I am not so keen on the pneumococcal, yet another vaccination, and at the same time as the others... seems like so much. And I hate the jabs anyway Sad makes me feel like a right mean mummy!!! lol
ds also loves the houseplants, grabs hold and shakes. reminds me of that tv series - can anyone remember its name? It was a game show set in space in the 80s and they collected plastic credits, but there was a plant that shook.... sounds weird if you don't know what I'm gibbering on about! Grin

2happy - not english so dont know about game show must ask dh. i usually know about nerdy sci-fi stuff Grin
dd does not cry at vaccines at all, very much like her mummy i tend to look at needles going in my harm, like in drawing blood i keep telling the murse she is doing it wrongWink it usually annoys them a lot, not surprising! its pretty hard to find my veins so i got used to lots of trying and bruising.

re vaccines i was talking to fil about getting the prevenar for dd should nhs not offer. it appears they are givimg to 4m old now and the rest is catch up, i think up to 2yrs old. be happy to have that at 12/13m then mmr prob 16/18m

dh now went out with dd - rest or dishes? lazy surfing i think

Grin The Adventure Game! Can you remember if the plant had a name? What was the point of it - the plant I mean? I can't remember!

Report
lummox · 16/03/2006 17:42

I think that the plant was the uncle - it used to say "gronda, gronda" for sure. No I just need to remember why the uncle was a large aspidistra. Sure there was a good reason.

yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

dd3 has got over this horrible bug and is back to her giggling little self thank god. she has a lot of catching up to do and a lot of weight to gain. so nice to have my daughter back . Grin

still no crawling or walking Sad
she loves to put capital radio on the telly though (888) and it doesnt matter how you give her the remote she turns it round and puts her fav music channel on . she also loves to grab the cats tail and scream oooooooooohhhh, also likes to play the head tilting game ( i go one side she goes the other ) if you say "no" she starts to shake her head which is quite funny when having a serious convo and she thinks she funny too Grin

any tips on helping her to crawl? i have put alsorts in front of her and put things behind for her to push off but nothing. she can get from lying to sitting by getting on hands and knees then pushing back onto her bum iyswim. but she has no intention of crawling Smile

hope evry one is well and june babies are all doing ok Smile

im not even dressed yet and dp will be in from football soon Blush
