Well ladies I thought I would just make matters worse by mentioning \link{http://www.kela.fi/in/internet/suomi.nsf/NET/100502155308EH?openDocument\this} is what you get given in Finland when the baby is born, the box it comes in doubles up as a Moses basket!

And my friend in Stockholm is paying 70 quid A MONTH for full-time childcare for her ds.

HARRUMPH!

sfx, sorry to hear you are having problems, it's so difficult to have the energy to fight these things isn't it?

hi all
god i am having the most stressful timeSad my manager is being an unreasonable bitch from hell HR is trying to mediate but i am tired of this and don't really want to fight or involve union. really must decide today if going back or not and having to pay back money, completely driving me mad
paid childcare was never really an option but i did look into it to cover all basis and the prices around here are just unbelievable

so sorry about the rant i just needed to vent thanks for listening

Trib - on the childcare costs front - i know! this is one of the reason Dh and i both work part time and why i spend one of my lunch hours rushing to pick the girls up and taking them home so we don't need another nursery session, you can save a little by using childcare vouchers and some people qualitfy for a contribution through working families tax credit but we don't. its is crazy

Hello y'all, you've probably forgotten me as have been lurking but not posting in ages. We have two teeth AT LAST - thought she was going to be gummy for life, crawling like a demon, cruising, stair climbing, feistiness and tantrums. HUGE tantrums, we are talking onm the floor fists pounding "why aren't i getting that chocolate now" kind of tantrums. Would never have believed it possible of an 11 month old (older sister has only had about three tantrums in her life so am tantrum virgin and a bit gobsmacked -and hugely entertained - by it all). Otherwise all is joyful in the Nogger house!

Trib - quit highly paid job on birth of DD2 as 2 sets of nursery fees would have left me enough cash for petrol commute costs and not a penny more. It is extortion. Now considering whether I have energy to do some work from home at night after kids have gone to bed and coming to conclusion that I don't even have energy to watch eastenders most nights so probably not!

TAKE THAT ROCK! Howard is living proof that bodies need not collapse after age 35. Try explaining that to DH. Am also now in love with Beverley Knight. Want that costume.

Bubba - yay, crawling, it's all hellish from here on in.

Interested by all this cow's milk malarkey, apparently it's against The Rules til 1 year, altho (a) our little ones are so nearly there anyway and (b) rules are stupid.

On a different note, due to badgering by my health visitor, an "outreach" worker from a local nursery has been round today (I really don't know why). Am staggered at the costs for full time care, not that ds would be going full-time but just on general principle. I do not understand how anyone on a single salary can afford it, barely see how anyone on two salaries can. I appreciate that I am basically the last Junie in the world to see how it operates, but I am genuinely stunned. WHY go to work? I earn a decent whack, and if I had to pay for full-time childcare there would be no point going out to work, basically.

Hi Everyone,
Hope you're all well.Sorry for not keeping up with things but it's been so busy here.My FIL is in hospital with a badly infected gall bladder, one of my cats has also just come home from being in hospital having 2 teeth out, after my neighbour gave him a bone and I've been rushing around to find an outfit as my brother is getting married on sunday! All I need to find now are some nice polka dot heels to go with it,so off into town tomorrow to look for themGrin.I got my birthday pressie early from Dh-he bought me a car last weekend. It's nothing flash, just a little white Fiesta.I haven't driven for about 7 years so thought I'd be really nervous, but now I've got it,it's like I've always had it and I love itGrin.
Giddy-That's really awful about the hospital.I'd also be annoyed and would definately be complaining[angry}
Muma3-Haven't given the milk much thought yet.Ds does have cows milk on his cereal and I've packed away the steraliser already(although I am still steralising, using the kettle!).I will probably do the same, and try just the one bottle first-he only has 2 bottles anyway!
Ds has also started crawling in the last week and today he has pulled himself up to standing twice and with no help from meShock.Looks like it's all happening at once, but it's jolly good fun.
Take care all and sorry for not catching up properly.xxx

good morning all

giddy - what ans awful time! i guess expecting bit of common sense would be too much

mumma - i am still brestfeeding and will probably continue a while longer, so not too worried about milk. dd has been having full fat cows milk in cooking for a while and for the last few months she has formula for cereal at breakfast when required but are about to replace it with cows milk (this is in addition to a.m. bf)
i don't think we will be giving any more milk, she usually has yogurt ans cheese too so i think it will meet requirements.

we had a nice weekend it was dh's birthday.
am waiting on work for a couple of details before making final decision

hope you all are ok, take care

I BlOODY HATE HOSPITALS !!!!!!!!
dd1 has had her operation today. It was really hard for her and I am so angry that the staff just made us manage. We had to wait in the reception area until after midday. She had not had a drink etc since bedtime the night befor. It was boiling hot in there and she was not able to umnderstand why she was refused a drink. The kitchen was right in front of us with people to-ing and fro-ing with food and drink.she kept thinking we were going home because they made us wait by the door until they could give her a bed. However when I asked if we could leave and return later we were told "no" as the Haemotology nurse had arrived to give dd1 a transfusion (even though it had been previousely arranged that no transfusion would be attempted until DD1 was already in theatre and knocked out!!!....she's severely autistic for crying out loud!!!!!!!
Dh even had to lie down on a bed and be wheeled back from theatre with dd1 lying face down on top of him (she's 16 not three!!!) because they had no contingency plan to cope with unexpected movement from her and did not have the staff to escort the porter.............awful!!!
We bought her home within an hour of coming round as no-one from the consultants team was even going to see us and I was livid that an E.N.T procedure was done to my daughter and no attempt was made to remove all the pus and gunk that had seeped into her outer ear.just left it stuck like glue .
YES I will be complaining.
sorry for ranting , just feels nice and safe here.
hope everone is o.k
lots of love
xxx
