I do NOT believe it.

DP has just found out, now, that his parents are going to be away all of this week at a wedding.

How? HOW can neither he, nor his parents, have realised that we were coming up when they were going to be away, until the day of our departure?

ffs Angry

Northen, for parents!

Glad everything worked out ok kate.

seven, agreeing with everyone else..it's probably 'I've been there' looks, having said that I still can't stand other peoples kids making a scene/noise (older kids, not babies) so there are some judgy ones out there Grin

DSM, glad you had a good night!

DS has been, a blardy nightmare. He's sleeping 5/6 hours a night, 1 30min nap in the day for most of this week....he's also got 3 teeth coming through all together and he's 'cruising', he likes to stand at the rabbits cage & shout at them Confused
MN Dec 2011 jury, is it worth seeing HV about his not sleeping or is it all down to the heat/teeth?

Hope everyone has a great monday

seven77 · 30/07/2012 10:09

AWCH i'd say probably teeth, maybe try some calpol before bed and see if it helps? I can't stand other people's kids either :o, although I'm sure everyone on here's other DCs are all lovely.

LittleMissFlustered · 30/07/2012 14:31

Octoboy has been discharged from Dr P's clinic:o He is officially not broken any more:o

Weight is still on the 9th at 15lb 4oz. Length and head circ are between the 50th and 75th >_<

Dr P thinks that the episode over the weekend is more indicative of a bout of gastroenteritis than nappy rash, which makes sense with there being two older germ factories children in the house:)

Off to go dump some stuff at the tip, then we're off to buy books:)

GeeandTee · 30/07/2012 15:19

Great news lmf

I am very nervously watching the eventing. Lots of falls already so a bit scary. Zara should be on fairly soon. We're in 3rd place after the dressage so in with a good chance of a meddle.

I am hoping that we have turned a corner with DD's sleeping. I've been concentrating on daytime naps, she used to only sleep for half an hour but now I pick her up as soon as she makes a sound and rock her back to sleep again. I've had to do it 3 times over her lunch nap but it means she's had 2 hours instead of 30 mins, and she is definitely waking less at night.

GeeandTee · 30/07/2012 15:19

Meddle?! Woops, medal!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 30/07/2012 15:27

Go Team GB...Diving & Eventing going well Grin

GeeandTee · 30/07/2012 15:37

Oh no, I need to go out but Zara is on in 15 mins. I will do some housework instead and then will have to literally run my errands!!

DD is rocking on her bottom, wonder if she is trying to bottom shuffle?

hawthers · 30/07/2012 17:12

Hmm what to do? DS2 is still napping 3 hours after I put him down.... Does that mean he'll sleep better or worse tonight?

Also I've started to reduce daytime bf due to rubber necking by f and now my boobs are really big and sore. Can dropping only one feed a day do this? I never felt thought my supply was good enough but clearly it was!

Blw going well I think. DS2 squeals with indignation if he doesn't have ant food and we are eating - quite cute. He wolfed down scrambled egg for lunch yesterday. Must purchase the blw cookbook for more ideas

seven77 · 30/07/2012 17:19

LMF that's brilliant news, really pleased for you and octoboy. Did you make the complaint?

gee odd isn't it how sleeping more in the day actually does seem to make them sleep better at night, I hope it lasts. I think meddle is much better anyway!

I think DS is coming down with something. He's been fine most of the day, but about an hour ago suddenly turned horribly whingey and saying he feels poorly, which is quite unlike him. I guess we'll find out in the morning, watch this space ...

GeeandTee · 30/07/2012 17:20

I made French toast for lunch today and DD loved it. Easy to pick up but also v easy to chew.

Figgygal · 30/07/2012 18:11

Cripes northern that is annoying did u still go up north?

Figgygal · 30/07/2012 18:32

DS just fell over and banged his head big style he was pulling himself up against his cot lost his balance and went flying poor little thing though we only had little squawl.

I think that'll be the start of it though as he's now decided the rug is for wimps and speed shuffles half across the lounge floor before u can get him back to the safety of the rug......he needs a helmet of some sort clearly Grin he refuses to do any back or tummy time at the moment only bum shuffling is acceptable

OiMissus · 30/07/2012 20:04

northern that really is taking the pi$$. Time is so precious, our lives are so hectic already, it is really, really shit of them to not have some kind of calendar. How frustrating. Well, their loss and your family's gain!
figgy if it wasn't so hot, a woolly hat helmet would be a great idea!
BOi has spots on his hands. Could this be dirt/crawling related?

aethelfleda · 31/07/2012 05:47

Hope DS was OK overnight seven....

figgy, the best way foreard is to reassure yourself that tye forehead and the back of the skull are the thickest bits for a darned good reason. Hope figgyboy is OK.

Hope people had an OK night,, I've just waved off DH for hos two wrek trip (wirk plus FIL visiting). LMF I will be requiring wrangling tips!

LittleMissFlustered · 31/07/2012 06:57

Wrangling tip #1: yes, yes you do need more caffeine!

Two weeks will fill itself up I think. That's what I tell myself every Easter and Christmas holiday anyway!

LittleMissFlustered · 31/07/2012 07:03

I just looked on eBay at the style of percolator we used to have, and saw the shiny new cordless ones! So tempting, especially the dualit one >_

GeeandTee · 31/07/2012 07:17

northern I would be v annoyed too!

Not sure about spots on hands oi

Not a great night here despite fantastic daytime naps yesterday. Fed at 12.30, settled at 2.30, fed at 5.20, settled at 6 then I didn't get back to sleep and DD woke at 7. There goes my theory then!

Its so silly but I am getting massively stressed about DS going to preschool in January, such a long time away! He's still v clingy and I am dreading having to settle him in and have him crying and saying that he wants to stay home with Mummy :( Why on earth am I worrying about it in July?!

Fingers crossed for the eventing today!

hawthers · 31/07/2012 07:22

It's possible both ds' just slept through on the same night.... I'm so tired from getting up every night for the last 7 months that I can't quite be sure...

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 31/07/2012 09:09

Northern That's annoying.

Oi not sure about Spots.

Aethel as a previous single parent too. You can easily fill 2 weeks with activities and I agree with LMF Caffeine is the way to go also Grin

Gee re worrying about DS & Pre-school, any chance starting from now their is a friend or crèche willing to help you if you drop him off to work on the clingyness before January?

Off to a friends so Darcie can play for a couple of hrs this morning. Then ironing for me and Darcie can go on the kinect to keep her entertained Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 31/07/2012 09:09

Hawthers that's fab to hear Smile

seven77 · 31/07/2012 10:16

That's brilliant hawthers, Eva slept until 6.20!

oi is he otherwise ok? All I can think of is hand, foot and mouth though he'd obviously feel unwell.

Figgygal · 31/07/2012 12:31

Well we had a 4.30 wake up this morning due to a nappy malfunction meaning he was soaking wet, i am thinking we might have to go to 4+ nappies soon as that is the 3rd time this week we have had leaks. He is probably 23/24lbs at the moment and the 4's go up to 28 so it might be time.....Just seems ridiculous he is only 7mo!! He did then sleep until 6.45 so i wonder if he would have slept if it hadnt happened.

Well i have had my lunch, my yoghurt, snack a jacks and an emergency cereal bar today and i am still famished....hate days like this am going to have to hit the canteen for even more food.

aethelfleda · 31/07/2012 14:39

Thanks for the advice girls! Caffeine is indeed viewed as one of the staple foodstuffs around here.not least because I am now officially on the lose-baby-weight-by-diet-and-exercise track from here on in. Currently wondering a)whether I can be arsed with myfitnesspal (is anyone on here still using that?) and b)whether wittering onthread is a step too far (I suspect it is but am too time-deficient to want to keep up with multiple different threads which is why I post so much on this one). I've made a start by doing the 8.5 min warmup from Pump It Up Original (sounds lame but believe me it's not just a standard warmup, that DVD is NUTS!) aim is to do minimum four twenty minute workouts a week (when I really get going I tend to do one every day with a day off after a monster one).
Aha, DS has conked; quick tidy attempt of the front room as I want to try to paint it if I can while DH is away....

for all chez Hawthers!!!!

GeeandTee · 31/07/2012 15:19

figgy DD is 21lbs and has been in size 5s for 6 weeks or so as the smaller sizes leave red welts around her chunky thighs Grin
