oh biscuits arse!

Thanks so much for the info on the ergo. i've been having a look and i'm rather suspicious that mine is a dud. i've found the website that i ordered it from and they are marketing it as the real thing so i hopefully should be able to contact them to return it. they reckon it comes straight from teh manufacturer which is why they can offer it cheap - smells fishy to me.

f refusing to nap today and we've had a rather busy morning at the hell hole soft play. DS1 got a little upset when we had to leave poor thing so had a nice early nap bless his cotton socks but now we're off to another play date so he'll be totally over hyped by the time we get home...

Wants3 · 22/06/2012 15:52

Gosh you guys have been busy while I had a few days off! I haven't got time to read back ATM, is there anything important I should know about?
D has got back up to his birth weight but I am not surprised as he is still feeding every 1 to2 hours!

Biscuitsandtea · 22/06/2012 16:18

Weird sugar thing.

Right - I love chocolate. Fact. But I have been loads better with my snacking this week. So I've slightly broken the cycle of sugar peak - crash - sugar peak etc. (Dream up until this week I was totally having a chocolate snack befor breakfast because if be craving sugar when I got up Blush).

I've just had a toffee crisp and a bottle of lucozade and I feel shattered now. This happened the other day too. I'd feel a little better immediately after my sugar hit and then have a big crash. I now feel sleepy and a bit sick from the sugar.

This is Good News because it means that I feel less inclined to have the sugary treats because I'll feel sleepy after them. So good news in a weird way no? Instead I'm dealing with my sugar crashes by administering caffeine Hmm. Not ideal but I'll deal with that problem later Grin

Oh biscuits, I need some of that wierdness in fact I may have it but just pile in more chocolate to top me up again

Dh complaining of complete exhaustion as the dts were up every 90 mins last night. It's totally wrong to be smug and say 'see?!' isn't it?! I'm still sorry I was horrible last night but its so nice that he's finding the nights as impossible as me...

Biscuitsandtea · 22/06/2012 22:16

Trust me Dream this willpower thing is new on me! I wouldn't say I've eaten well this week but it has been a substantial improvement on previous weeks.

The way I've broken (ish) the cycle is to have a small (250ml) can of Pepsi max, or a cup of tea or something most times every time I craved sugar, which has typically been a couple of times a day. I know we're not supposed to overload on caffiene but then again chocolate is full of sugar and caffiene. I know it's only replacing one vice with another but it is part of a dieting theory I've invented called small steps dieting - ie making small improvements in my diet rather than one massive unsustainable change. So I'm aiming to gradually cut down the badness and then try to improve what I eat for my meals when I've got my snacking under control.

I know it won't give me quick results but I'm hoping it's more sustainable.

Oh and I've had a toffee crisp, a bottle of lucozade, a creme egg and 3 muller crunch corners. So not a great day on the food front although a marked improvement on previous days

And it isn't smug at all to want DH to experience the joy of the nights you're having. Not only is he finding it tiring, he's still sharing the fun with you! A problem shared is a problem halved as they say Smile

I'm going mental here! the Mumsnet mobile site is broken for me so i haven't been able to read or post for nearly 24 hours! took me 10 minutes to scroll down here to post and i can't catch up cos it's all too wide for my wee screen. grr!

hope you are all well Brookers and babies.

Biscuitsandtea · 23/06/2012 06:38

In that case Jaggy you won't be able to read that ds2 went from feeding after his bath at about 10 past 7 until 5:45 this morning! DH and I were astounded!

jaggythistle · 23/06/2012 08:15

I'm on the PC!

Wow - you must have been Shock in the morning!

jaggythistle · 23/06/2012 08:15

trying to catch up now

PetWoman · 23/06/2012 08:41

Biscuits that's brilliant! Well done E!

I bet sleep deprivation is fuelling our sugar cravings. Am trying to motivate myself to attempt a short run - first one for 11 months! But it's raining and DS is asleep on my shoulder...

Cranial osteopath sounds really interesting, Pomme - does that mean no more bf or bottle for A, or a mixture of feeding methods? Was she saying that A is hungry/feeding often because she can't suck efficiently? How frustrating that no HV picked up on something that seems so important!

pommedechocolat · 23/06/2012 09:17

biscuits - awesome work by e!! Hope you got the sleep benefit Smile

pet - a is still bf, she is very efficient when she does 'give in' but seems to have developed an odd technique that apparently is not normal to cope with lack of suck. So at times it's really uncomfortable so she screams with hunger but won't feed. She does this for about two hours 1-2 a day Sad

However this am she seemed to be quite interested in the rice and a bit went down. She has been much calmer and been burping much much better too. Her sick is normal too rather than thick and mucousy.

No more sleep though!!

pommedechocolat · 23/06/2012 09:18

I also have had marmalade, toast and grapes for brekkie - no chocolate!! Whoop whoop!

I'm also about to start Xmas shopping for the girls as there are so many sales on.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/06/2012 09:34

Hello all! PIL gone now - had some v sad news yesterday. DH's aunt is in hospital with only a couple of days to live (terminal cancer). MIL naturally v upset and they are heading to Staffordshire to say their goodbyes, so left early this morning.

M took a long time to fall asleep last night - think I eventually put her down at about midnight - but then slept like a little angel. I eventually had to wake her up to say goodbye to PIL at about 8.15. I had such a fright yesterday, though - she fell asleep at about 5ish and we put her down in the pram. I thought this was odd because she had napped for 3.5 hours in the afternoon so was worrying there was something wrong with her, and then when I leaned over her and blew on her face she didn't respond at all. I blew again - nothing. Touched her face - nothing. Then I panicked, put my hand on her chest and shook her - still nothing, not a flicker of an eyelid. I was so sure she was dead. Blush Then I realised her little chest was rising and falling under my hand and she was just really deeply asleep. Luckily I had my back to the room and no one else had noticed. Unsurprisingly, she woke up 2 minutes later, but I didn't care - I just wanted to pick her up and hug her!

Pomme, gosh, that's interesting re the cranial osteopath!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/06/2012 09:36

Oops, cross-posted with Pomme and Pet. Yay for A taking some baby rice and seeming happier today!

Christmas shopping, Pomme?

DreamingOfPeace · 23/06/2012 10:09

Where are these sales, where?! I want to give DD a nice tea set for her (September) birthday as she always plays with them at groups/ friends' houses. It frightens me how organised you are thinking about Xmas pomme. Very sensible if you know what you want and its cheaper though.

4 hotel chocolat chocs for breakfast plus malt loaf. Just using up my birthday supplies

too, I have panicked like that many times, especially about Ben as he's usually restless in his sleep or at least stirs easily but occasionally is totally deep and still. Even dh came in once a bit shaken saying he'd thought Ben wasn't breathing (he was of course). These babies...

We are about to brave dunelm mill for storage boxes for sodding baby clothes and curtains. Judging by how many arguments dh and I have had already this morning I wonder if our marriage will survive it. (Dh up once in the night at 3am then up with Seb at 5:50 & DD got up too at 6:45. He's exhausted though, as it is his third disturbed night and busy busy days at work)

pommedechocolat · 23/06/2012 10:18

Gltc have 20% off today only and liberty London bizarrely have some good offers on some lovely wooden toys.

fishcakefoxtrot · 23/06/2012 15:14

Envy of those whose babies are doing such lovely long sleeps. Dd2 will surely cotton on soon, won't she?! Grin

Last wasn't too bad here so this morning I did the Shred! Good and ouchy at the same time. Just have to do it tomorrow and the next day and the next...

Also, I have a banana caramel cake in the oven. Well, wouldn't want to destroy the delicate calories in vs calories out balance Grin

dream hope you have survived dunelm. We need furniture in general as our old house had lots of built in storage. We are currently having lots of squabbles over general mess and not being able to find anything.

pomme am impressed with the shopping. It's dd1's bday in august so I should take advantage of these sales.

too sorry to hear about your dh'a aunt. Is he ok? And I worry when dd2 stays asleep. And dd1, for that matter.

pet did you run? I am intending to run again once I have recovered some fitness. Wouldn't make it to the end of the road at the mo!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/06/2012 15:41

Bloody DH has pissed off into town to meet friends. When he first mooted this idea he said 'this evening'. I wasn't too keen on the idea then, but agreed in the end. Then he hopped up at half past 2 and said he was aiming to leave at 3 and he'd better get ready. This was after he went back to sleep this morning and didn't get up until I shouted at him nearly 1. He did make omelettes for lunch. I'm so Angry I'm finding it hard to smile at M, poor little beastie. Oh, and next weekend is Gma's 70th and none of my smart dresses fit over my boobs and then I made the mistake of trying on my old jeans and got even grumpier.

Yay for Shredding, Fishcake! Am going to assemble my Shredding kit ready to go whenever DH deigns to return. He said 9/10ish.

pommedechocolat · 23/06/2012 15:52

Well too in that case I suggest an afternoon of expressing bm so then you can go shopping tomorrow on your own to buy a new outfit :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/06/2012 16:05

Angry at Too's DH for being so cheeky! That's exactly the kind of thing my DH does! Men!

I did do the Shred yesterday (yay!), today is officially Day One though so its extra important I get to it today. DD is currently snoozing on my chest and I'm looking for my window of opportunity to attempt The Transfer. If it's successful I'll be straight into Shredding mode!

Yay for Fishcake kicking off Day 1! I also have a cake (chocolate fudge) sitting in my kitchen and awaiting icing. I'm trying to convince myself it's for guests only Hmm How are the healthy eaters doing on Day 1?

Sorry for radio silence yesterday, I spent the day at my parents' house cooking a "Thankyou for all the help" dinner. Slow roasted (4 hours) leg of lamb in spices, roasted veg, roasted potatoes, with chocolate & pear pudding for dessert. It went rather well actually, which was a Shock for all involved! Grin

Quick q, DD has had a horrible pimply rash for the last week, which is finally fading. I was very restrained and didn't put anything on the rash, because my imw and the GP said it's just newborn skin sorting itself out. Now however the rash is fading into red raw-looking dry skin. No more pimples. I'm soooooo desperate to put something on it, I can't imagine it's not sore and itchy. Do any of you use creams or oils on newborn dry skin? Any recommendations? It honestly looks like nappy rash (even though DD doesn't have any soreness on her bum, and this rash is on her head and neck). Would it be crazy to put sudocrem on it? Is sudocrem unsuitable for the skin on her head/neck?

Very Envy of all the babies doing really long sleeps!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/06/2012 16:06

X-posts with Pomme - I LOVE your suggestion for Too, it's perfect!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/06/2012 16:11

Grin at Pomme. Not sure about shopping. Might be even more depressing.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/06/2012 16:15

Oh Too, I forgot to answer your q's before. My cs scar has been fine each time I've done the Shred. My abs are pitifully weak, but there's been no pain. My physio just said to make sure I keep doing my other exercises to keep my split tummy muscles together, otherwise strengthening my abs could cause my deeper tummy muscles to separate again.

Also, I don't use trainers when I do the routine, I'm just barefoot on my yoga mat.

Autumn is in her cot, so here I go...!
