Go, Scream, go! M is nearly asleep. I'm not even sure I remember how to make the Playstation play DVDs. Barefoot it is, then - have heard that exercising barefoot is good for building leg muscle, anyway.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/06/2012 16:34

Are you using the 2kg weights? Oh, and well done on all the cooking - sounds divine!

pommedechocolat · 23/06/2012 17:11

Go go scream! I would try olive oil if I were you on her skin.

Eating not too bad today bar a reasonable size biscuit binge at 3pm - whoops!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/06/2012 17:24

I think I have a problem. Got through 2 circuits and then the DVD stuck and then suddenly went into the cooldown. Aren't there supposed to be 3 circuits? Is my DVD naffed? Grr.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/06/2012 17:39

Did circuit 3 on YouTube. Totally. Knackered. God, my legs are weak! And my arms. Weirdly, I didn't find the abs nearly as hard as the Strength sections. Maybe I should use cans of beans at the moment, not DH's 1.25kg weights. Off to order a new DVD.

DreamingOfPeace · 23/06/2012 19:19

Oh f*%k. Now i feel really bad. I am officially the only one to have fallen off the wagon on Day 1. Take away curry, whole portion scoffed, plus whole rice, half a naan and half a side dish, 1.5 cupcakes ( the half was 'helping' DD- We baked them together yesterday) and 7 chocolates from my birthday chocs. However, I did the Walk Of Sleep with the buggy for an hour with the dts while DD napped, can I minus anything for that?! On hills I can feel this pigging bulge down below. I'm only really doing a few pelvic floor exercises a day and it clearly isn't enough. I actually want to run, but it would be a terrible idea... Argh! Blooming childbirth has destroyed my body!

My CS scar is being rubbed by my clothes now. I'd not worn the Big Knickers for ages but now its getting red and sore by evening?! Is this as I'm back in jeans again?? Or are other people still wearing Big Knickers?

scream, hv and gp all told me olive oil (when I had DD). Didnt want to put olive oil on dds face, though I did on her body, so i used Aveeno which dh said was ok.

DreamingOfPeace · 23/06/2012 19:21

Oh, and fabulous work all you Shredders Thanks

DreamingOfPeace · 23/06/2012 19:22

Dh says not E45 for babies as it contains lanolin in some not ideal form?! Aveeno or cetraban or just oil.

fishcakefoxtrot · 23/06/2012 19:28

It's still big knickers all the way here. My scar seems to be pretty well healed though, even the slightly ropey bit at the edge. My stomach muscles on the other hand definitely have a way to go!

too I used tins of soup instead of weights Grin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/06/2012 19:39

Too the DVD's only a fiver on Amazon, with free postage! Well done for hunting down the missing circuit on youtube, that's dedication! I'm using 2kg weights at the moment, but so far I've never made it all the way through the workout with them! My arms usually give up halfway through the third strength circuit, and I finish up still following the moves but without the weights. Hoping I'll be able to get the whole way through with the weights within a few days though!

Grr DH is just driving me crazy at the moment! I guess it's the sleep deprivation, but really it just feels like he can't do anything right. The most basic requests he gets wrong!! So fed up of him right now!

Very encouraged by all the reports of healthy eating! We can kick the sugar habit ladies! starting tomorrow

Need to start some kind of sleep training with DD now. Thinking of starting with putting her down when she's sleepy rather than totally asleep. This is in the hope she'll learn to settle herself back to sleep when she wakes in the middle of the night. Is this a pipe dream at 8 weeks? Has anyone else been able to put their sleepy-but-awake baby in the cot at 8 weeks, and have them actually go to sleep?

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/06/2012 19:50

Oops, x-posts with several people! Dream I think the fact that you have twins at all counts for minus a whole pole of junk food! Then when you add the Walk of Sleep on top of that, well clearly you've beaten all of us on the healthy eating front! Grin

Thanks for the aveeno recommendation! Also the olive oil recommendation from Pomme. My Mum is urging me to leave the red patches alone for now though, so I'll give it another couple of days.

I still occasionally wear big knickers! I have found my scar sometimes feels sensitive and a little sore after wearing normal knickers that rub.

PetWoman · 23/06/2012 19:50

Go you Shredders! Am v impressed - sounds painful!

I managed a very slow, short run. And had only a banana and 3 slices of buttered malt bread (which is beautiful stuff - how have I never had it before?!) for breakfast and lunch. But before supper I had a bowl of prawn crisps. And for pudding I had trifle (shop-bought: much admiration for you bakers). And did I mention the large glass of red wine? Still, overall not too bad, I think. When do we weigh ourselves?

Scream were the spots baby acne? DS had that, and the skin on his cheeks is still a bit rough. I didn't put anything on it, but for dry skin the HV recommended Vaseline.

Too sorry to hear about DH's aunt. What sad news. But am totally with your anger at his outing! Hope he does loads of helpful stuff tomorrow to make up for it...

BTW Musical how are your cats getting on with I? The other morning I was bfing in bed with DS on a pillow in front of me, and my cat hunkered down on the pillow next to him for a good purr. I realise that might seem a bit gross to others but I thought it was very sweet. DS didn't seem to mind, anyway.

PetWoman · 23/06/2012 20:00

Dream I'm sure the Walk of Sleep balanced out the curry and cupcakes!

Scream the sleepy baby in basket falling asleep by themselves worked for DS at around 6 weeks but only with the dummy. I sat and watched him for the first few times in wonder and disbelief and was ready to pop the dummy back in / pat / cuddle if needed. After a few days I was able to lie him down, pop in the dummy and walk away. Miraculous. Hope Autumn successfully gets the hang of self-settling so you can relax a bit...

hawthers · 23/06/2012 20:12

scream I think the self settle is a lot to Di with confidence. I've managed it about a year way earlier with DS2 than DS1 who we used to feed/rock/shush to sleep until he was old!

Also we use doublebase on our two which I've found to be miracle stuff and sorts most odd skin things out.

Not done very well on the food today. Random family picnic thing and scoffed bakewell slices, Ricky road and cake Blush but an going for a 6 mile run tomorrow so that must even out. Can't face the shred!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/06/2012 20:23

I think M did it once, Scream. I always feed her to sleep and she manages to resettle herself if she wakes . I didn't do anything to encourage this, it just happened!

Have ordered new DVD. All my muscles feel like spaghetti! During those side-lunge-lift-weights-to-eye-level things I was sort of hurling my arms into the air randomly as they went on. Oh, and the press-ups? Oh my God. I remember being able to do proper press-ups, but now I can't even do the girly press-ups without having to lie on the carpet halfway through to recover.

Go with the healthy eating! Dream, you weigh 8 stone 9 and are feeding twins. You don't need to diet! So no beating yourself up, please. I won't have it! I highly recommend the paleo/primal diet, though - have lost 5lbs in a week! Honestly.

Sorry to hear DH is driving you crazy, Scream. Am not v pleased with mine either at present (see above).

Oh Dream, that sounds grim. Are pelvic floor exercises what you need to be doing, or is there anything else?

Am currently on my second pair of Big Knickers of the day - changed into second pair post-Shred and shower. Not because of incontinence, I hasten to add, just plain old sweat. I also found when I first went back to jeans they irritated the scar if I didn't wear Big Pants, although that's stopped now. I'm therefore currently wearing whichever pants come to hand first and don't look too tight.

DreamingOfPeace · 23/06/2012 20:39

Thanks ladies, back to the Big knickers for me then. I still have lots of tummy fat to lose too, to fit properly in my normal clothes plus I just want to feel a bit healthier...

scream I always fed DD to sleep and she self settled in the night, slept through at 10 w 5 d as I've said before. Dts can't self settle, but last night DT1 slept 7.5 hours!!!! So he must have in that time. DT2 wasn't asleep though for most of it, of course

When, when will this colic be over?! I'm typing this one handed doing the walk and jig with DT2 in tiger in the tree as per usual. He's 12 weeks next Wednesday

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/06/2012 21:04

Yay for DT1! Hurray! Now, DT2, listen up! You can do it too. Poor little boy, I hope the colic passes off soon.

pommedechocolat · 23/06/2012 22:06

Wow dream go dt1!!

A, dt2 and fishcake's dd2 now need lessons off all the other babies Smile

Doing ten pm feed now, I'm sure post this will be settling into a refreshing 8 hour stretch Grin

Dd1 self settled from about 6 weeks I think but like pet with a dummy. I heart dummies and would do a lot for a to take one!!

pet - you asked ages ago about dd1 and the moving bedtime. Like your ds shed just start a long sleep earlier than I was expecting so I'd just anticipate that the next night. I starred doing bath and final change at six ish so then she was always ready for bed whenever she zonked.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/06/2012 22:49

Yay for little S Dream! Now we just need B's colic to bugger off settle down, and for B to follow S's lead! No brooking extra hard that by this time next week you'll be getting 7.5 uninterrupted hours of sleep every night!

Too I've had a look at the paleo diet, and it looks like a much simpler version of the Atkins diet. I love it! So far my attempts to 'just eat healthier' have fallen flat every day, so I'm going to try this paleo diet from tomorrow! Is there a specific website you're following, or do you have the book?

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/06/2012 22:52

p.s. I wish A would take a dummy! I've tried her with it literally every day for at least a month now. It's obvious when she's sleepy she'll often use me or the bottle like a dummy, but despite this she still spits out actual dummies. Sigh.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 23/06/2012 23:09

Hello ladies :) I am so rubbish at keeping up with you lot!

I have so much on at the moment. A lot of unpleasantness with family members almost dying and being seriously ill, things are looking a bit better but we are on borrowed time :( :( :( and a crazy amount of other things too.

It isn't all bad, H gave his first proper belly laugh today :) Dd has started nursery and absolutely loves it and we have also turned a corner with H feeding and I have been pain free for a couple of weeks now :) Hurrah!

I see you are all talking about exercising, very valiant and I want to start, I have the split muscles too though and have been given no advice, so any recommendations?

A topic of conversation in this house has been baby no.3 shall we shan't we, when to start trying if we do yada yada, this was triggered after we got a little bit carried away Wink (really should know better! lol) anyone else thinking on this?

Now can I trouble any of you to catch me up with current events?

I have missed you guys! I feel like I know you so well that I just wish you were closer so we could all meet up! :)

jaggythistle · 24/06/2012 02:05

a meet up would be so cool! we're driving the length of the country on our holidays and i have daydreamed about telling DH to stop and meet Brookers on the way.

RIGHT! tech has fixed the mobile site and i have just read everything as fast as i can to catch up. Grin

will reply properly later though as i have just transferred R to the crib looking v angelic so i must sleep!

later...zzz

ps i ate a whole big bag of maltesers last night and still haven't been out a walk with the new pram yet. i am claiming carrying R in the sling as a calorie burning activity though...

musicalmrs · 24/06/2012 05:46

A meet up would be amazing! Location would be tricky mind. Though I realise I may be near a few Brookers for the day soon (S London area, beginning with K, where I went to university!) I think Scream and Ninja are nearby at least...

Purple, lovely to see you! Glad to hear about belly laughs and pain free feeding. Feeding for me is getting so so much better, so thank you for all the advice and support.

musicalmrs · 24/06/2012 05:53

Aaah pressed post too early!

Pet, definitely sweet! What does your dog think? My two are getting on v well with I. They're brother and sister, and have a tendency to curl up together, paws over one another etc. Last wk the girl cat sat on my lap while I was feeding and napping, purred lots, nuzzled and put a paw over her. A couple of mornings ago,.the make one cuddled up to us when she was napping on me and purred,.nuzzled, and gave her a couple of kisses!

She loves them too - they're black and she often follows them around with her eyes.

All non pet people wee are now going to think we're mad!

Scream, various people recommended olive oil to us. It worked wonders on I's over baked dry skin!

I just drifting off, so will have to transfer and catch up with everyone else later...

jaggythistle · 24/06/2012 06:06

DS2 had bad baby acne and is a bit dry now. I've just pinched a bit of DS1's Oilatum Junior cream which seems nice and gentle.

nice to see you back purple. :) can i ask a wee favour? a while back you linked me to a great nursing top for summer but i couldn't get it to work on my phone and can't find the link now! could you give the link again if you get a chance? thanks!

still didn't catch up properly, too busy faffing and sleeping sitting up as usual.
