Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
musicalmrs · 12/07/2012 14:44

Aww, that one's lovely Too, thanks! :) It's the warmth I'm interested in - don't mind a bit of fiddly-ness. Does it look like it'll happily fit M up to 6 months? (or have you got a bigger one?).

Think the crying at the organ was one of my first funerals, which didn't help. It also didn't help that I wasn't supposed to be playing - the church organist didn't turn up, so I jumped in a couple of minutes before the service. Madness...

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 12/07/2012 14:51

Mine is actually 6-12 months and I don't think it'll fit her nearly that long! It fits now, so unless it stretches I don't see how it will still fit then.

scarletfingernail · 12/07/2012 14:54

Thanks Pomme & Too

Musical I've always used this brand for DS's swim wear. He's swam every week since 3 months old so can thoroughly recommend.

Glad the funeral wasn't too awful Too.

Good luck sorting the leak Pomme

I think I read somewhere that norkage does seem to deflate after about 6 weeks. You've built your supply and there will be plenty still there, it just doesn't feel like it to you. But I think it's normal to offer both boobs.

pommedechocolat · 12/07/2012 15:11

too - can you talk me through bf in a dress please? I haven't bothered as mine are all fitted and zippy at the top so would be v hard and also with the vest underneath and t shirt pulled up thing the top bit of boobs is covered. For BILs wedding in 3 weeks time I want to wear a dress - I have a drapey front one that could be pulled down or might buy a wrap one. Do you just pull it down and go for it? Do you use a cover of some sort?

And final question - do you have big or little norkage?!!

JenFraggle · 12/07/2012 15:23

Thanks for the reassurance, it's nice to know I'm normal well, in some respects anyway

Had the 6 week check today, all is fine and I'm a natural with N apparently. Not bad for someone who spent the first 29 years of her life not wanting kids :o

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 12/07/2012 15:54

Aaaargh, I wrote a long post about bf in dresses and then MN went offline and I lost it!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 12/07/2012 16:10

Yay for being a natural, Jen! Smile

Pomme, I have 34FF boobs Shock. You should be ok in a wrap dress or one that pulls down easily on either side. I also bf in dresses that have thin straps because I slide my arm out of the strap. I get M into position so she's shielding me, then pull my dress open/down, unclip bra and pull it down or lift boob a bit to get my nipple out. I do get a bit shy about feeding in large groups containing older men. I don't mind strangers but I feel weird about acquaintances. I don't mind young men because I feel like I'm educating them. Is that weird?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 12/07/2012 16:11

M's head gets in the way of anyone looking at me, so it feels ok.

pommedechocolat · 12/07/2012 16:32

Oo so you're the same size as me. Okay then I should be able to do it right?! I need to practice in front of the mirror I think. A's funny twisty things she does (a legacy of her boob phobia) doesn't help as she twists around a bit before diving on Hmm

Male acquaintances are BAD - my dad is bad but FIL and BIL are the worst. Hideousness. Especially because MIL didn't even do one bf with her two so it's totally alien to them anyway.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 12/07/2012 16:40

I can cope with Dad, FIL, BIL etc, weirdly - it helps that mum, my stepmum and MIL all bf so Dad and FIL are totally blase about it. BIL falls into the category of men who need to be educated, but they all just avert their eyes politely while I get sorted out. It's people like DH's uncles and ancient cousins who I hardly know that worry me. And I did get a bit weirded out by my uncles at first but have calmed down now.

NinjaChipmunk · 12/07/2012 17:27

hello all. dream i hope the hf&m is clearing up. You so deserve a break. And also pomme for a refluxy baby.
How is everyone else? Hope you are all well and getting at least some sleep?
I'm doing much better than a few days ago. The anti-bs have kicked in, the painkillers are working and keep me emotionally sane and I've been to the breastfeeding clinic this morning which was really helpful and hopefully has given me the help on the latch to sort out the soreness. I shall go back next week as she wants to check my progress. If the latch on help works I may start venturing out and about soon. it looks like dp has to go abroad for 3 days next week (starting the day before his pat leave finishes) so i think i'm going to draft in my mum to come and stay.
a very big well done to all the babies learning to flip themselves over, its lovely to hear all their progress. I'll confess I've only skim read the end of the thread (nearly 900 messages seemed a bit excessive to read) so forgive me if I miss anyone/ anything important out!
Hopefully I shall be back on more regularly soon!

Biscuitsandtea · 12/07/2012 17:39

Swimwear for babies - I've always used the same stuff as Scarlet for DS1 (well up until he was out of swim nappies - he just wears normal swim shorts now£ so can recommend them. For DS2 I am using one of DS1s splash about over-nappy jobbies with disposable swim nappies underneath (although I've seen some clever reusables to go underneath these days that weren't really around when I took ds1) and he has this Konfidence Babywarma t. Keep him warm which is great. Seems to do the trick and is dead easy to put on as it lays totally flat and you just wrap him up in it Smile

Ninja glad you're on the mend - brooking for you xxx

I have Velcro baby here today! I hope my ergo arrives soon so I can get on with stuff! He only naps on me ATM.
I offer both breasts at every feed and my supply has come back up and I sometimes feel full between feeds although it is still 2 hourly!

DreamingOfPeace · 12/07/2012 20:12

DD had the same as scarlets ds for swimwear. Fab, kept her super rosary. My top tip (from my friends ds swimming teacher actually though) is take a dressing gown for baby and undress them after swimming, put them in that and get yourself dressed first. The baby then gets dry quickly all over and again stays warm. Worked for me, I never had the cold and crying problem I saw lots of others struggling with.

Yy to all empty boob comments, agree its normal and just keep the faith Jen

Argh, leak sounds terrible pomme, definitely one for dh to deal with.

Slugs- we had them in our old kitchen, put slug pellets by the door where they were getting in, or would salt do to be pet friendly??

Blisters blisters everywhere. S covered in rash head to toe, for example 4 blisters on one earlobe. B has some huge ones, some of DDs on her fingers have popped and bled, the babies even have them on their willies-they're just everywhere!!!! Poor little tikes. Plus DD has a cough and cold, already given it to S who snotty, rattly chested again and puking. Gah. This too shall pass and all but will I die from tiredness first?!

DreamingOfPeace · 12/07/2012 20:16

Super rosary?! Interesting, but i meant super toasty Blush

pommedechocolat · 13/07/2012 08:37

dream - sounds really, really severe. God, poor all of you.

Where's scream - haven't seen her recently?

last night in my free awake night time I was reading stuff about babies on google and am now wondering about tongue tie a bit. Has anyone had tongue tie experience?

Biscuitsandtea · 13/07/2012 09:14

Ds1 had a tongue tie and ds2 I can't tell. He hasn't had the probs ds1 had but has a heart shaped tongue when he cries pokes it out.

Whaddya wanna know?

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 13/07/2012 09:22

And yes, where is Scream. Hope she's ok.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 13/07/2012 10:12

Purple knows about tongue tie, Pomme. Are your nipples sore?

Dream, you poor, poor thing. Brooking hard for it to clear up quickly. Poor little babies and DD - bleeding blisters, ouch! And a cold on top of it all. Sad

Right, am off to have tea with my single solitary mummy friend in the village (must go to baby groups!). I'm to go round at 10.30 and it's 10.09 and I am sitting on the sofa eating breakfast with wet unbrushed hair, wearing my underwear and a vest, while M is still asleep and needs feeding and nappy changing before we go. It'll take me 10 mins to walk up the really steep hill, too. Gaah. M went to bed at 11pm and then woke up at 2, 4 and 6.45. Oh, there now, she's awake again.

pommedechocolat · 13/07/2012 10:59

biscuits - I'd read somewhere that tongue tie can be wrongly diagnosed as reflux. I did the finger round gum test this am and don't think she does have one. I think the paed at the hospital checked anyway. I think she really does have reflux but am just a bit fed up of the drug. Yesterday in total she slept ten and a half hours in 24. Surely that's not right?!

too - I want to know what time you got there now!

scarletfingernail · 13/07/2012 12:11

I've also been wondering where Scream is...

Hope Fishcake's ok too and she's been busy meeting new RL friends...

And of course the lovely Purple. I know she doesn't get much time to post and just gets bombarded with BF questions when she does, mainly by me Grin Hope you're ok...

PetWoman · 13/07/2012 12:37

Too that sounds like my mornings when we're trying to go somewhere (plus a dog optimistically proferring a toy)! Hope you made it there ok.

I think it's common, at funerals, to mourn for all those we've loved and lost, and weep generally for the sadness of death. :(

Musical DS has just started swimming. He wears a disposable swim nappy and a baby snug (mini wetsuit - on website Scarlet linked to) which has proved easy to get on and he seems comfy in it. It was recommended for younger babies. I got the large size (3-6 months) and it's still a bit big for DS, but then he's quite small and slim atm.

Dream that sounds horrific! Are the blisters itchy / sore? What is the treatment for HF&M? Am sending big hugs and lots of Brew and Biscuit.

Pomme hope A sleeps better today. You're due about 5 extra hours, I think!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 13/07/2012 13:29

Think I got there at 11 in the end, which is not too bad for me. I would have been earlier if I hadn't had to stop and wipe sick out of my hair, yick!

jaggythistle · 13/07/2012 14:04

afternoon all. ds1 is having a nap Shock. thought it'd be reall hard to get him to settle as well.

had a nice morning. DS1 met M Mouse after breakfast and was so excited i may have quietly cried a bit Blush. croissants not quite so good here, pain au chocolat ok :)

DS2 also doing fine, but he's so hungry. feels like this growth spurt has lasted a week! he slept a bit better last night, think he's almost got the thumb sucking figured out.

poor dream's dd and twins, sounds awful with the blisters. :(

sounds like you're doing a great job Jen

DS1 had tongue tie pomme. he couldn't stay latched on and it seemed like he just screamed for the entire first week of his life. :( he had it snipped at 8 days though and fed much better.

crap I've forgotten my other things to say.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 13/07/2012 15:15

Grin at the daily pastry report, Jaggy!

Why do babies wake up the instant you put them down? M was asleep on me, so I put her in the pram and went out to see Mum off. Came back in and she was howling. She's now nearly asleep on my lap again. I wanted a cup of tea!
