Apologies for the rubbish thread title - thought I'd cobble something together though!

dizzy1 welcome Grin

dream Envy at 3am sleeping.

I have spotted the telltale 'ulcers' on DS's lower gum which confirms my suspicion re teething; it seems I have another child with a pain threshold of 0 so will be cracking open the paracetamol, ibuprofen and Dentinox tonight to see if they help. If he's anything like DD he'll zonk out seconds after the ibuprofen hits his stomach!

Prospective client coming tomorrow, two job rejection emails today, only 6 weeks of maternity pay left...Confused

Dizzy
I could have written your post. DD is 7, and when she was tiny I worked all hours to keep us afloat.

People ask me if DD2 is the same as DD1 - and it saddens me, because I don't know, I can't remember. Sad Crying now.

marshmallowpies · 23/08/2012 19:38

Jam have a (hug) from me. I already feel I'm forgetting so much of DD's early months, time is passing so fast...but am sure from our children's perspective we were still very much there for them, whether we remember it or not!

thedizzy1 · 23/08/2012 20:39

Jambalaya thanks for being so honest- it's such a sad thing to admit, and while I'm sorry I upset you, my ds, and I'm sure your dd has no recollection of it at all, and thinks I'm the best ( I'm well aware this state of affairs is fleeting!) And at the end of the day we did what we had to...basically what marshmallowpies said more eloquently!! I'm just really appreciative that I'm no longer in that situation and can enjoy this time now.
hugandroll- wow, you should have got odds on that!

Can I ask if any of you have imposed/found a routine with your lo? Since naomi was 12 weeks we''ve been loosely following the EASY routine from the baby whisperer - more to break the association between waiting and sleeping rather than the prescribed times if that makes sense?? Since starting that she's been an amazing sleeper- bath and bottle at 730, dream feed at 11, then sleeping til 6 or 7. The past 5 days it seems to have gone to pot though- just wanted to ask how sleepIs going for you ladies??

Flisspaps · 23/08/2012 21:15

Welcome to the 4 month sleep regression *dizzy^ Grin

VintageNancy · 23/08/2012 21:22

dizzy - yes welcome to the thread and the wonderful sleep regression! There are lots of us going through it.

I thought things were improving after a few nights with just one wake-up at 3am but last night was a 3 feeds night. And she doesn't want to nap today. I'll see your fliss and raise it to a .

HollyPockett · 23/08/2012 21:32

Hi dizzy. DD is 4 months tmrw and was a very gorgeous, chunky 14lb9. She's also started to blow raspberries!!

She's been going down at 7pm and sleeping all the way through until about 6 for the past 5 weeks or so, but the last three nights she's woken up at 2ish. A cuddle and her dummy settle her really quickly leaving me wide awake for another hour I don't know if it's 4 month regression or moving from Moses basket to cot..

Night all, hoping we all have good nights!

VintageNancy · 23/08/2012 21:37

Holly E started blowing raspberries yesterday :). She is very pleased with herself & is doing them constantly (instead of sleeping!).

hugandroll · 23/08/2012 22:30

A has been raspberry blowing now for about a week, he doesnt cry when he wakes now he blows raspberries and smiles :)

HollyPockett · 24/08/2012 01:27

Up again tonight to resettle DD. The little monkey wakes up and remembers she can play with her feet, the Gro Bag gets in the way and chaos occurs.

Fliss. How'd it go with potential mindees tonight?

hugandroll · 24/08/2012 11:39

Just had my first counselling session only we could only do questionnaires because I had the children with me. Dh will have to take time off work for the next one, feel like I wasted their time :(

Thaleia · 24/08/2012 16:11

dizzy - hi & as you know from reading along, the girls on here a fab :)

So I spoke to the GP about R and later about me too ... and I tried to be as honest as possible, which is about 60%. He suggested, before thinking about medication that I should try to get more sleep and to see if sleep deprivation is the cause. He suggested to give R a bottle at 11am so that I'm able to get about 4hrs.

Compared to the alternative, I think I might give it a shot. Mum or DH can give him a bottle at night and I might even get a 5 hours straight. I don't feel like that's giving up bfeeding and it's also the feed which - if the time comes (months?) he'll drop, so it's just for some time.

Raphael is now always drifting in and out of sleep, I put him into his cot, he'll cry and grizzly for 5 mins, sleeps for 10 wakes up and again cries and grizzles.

He also has a bit of a cough and cold. He had it before he had his jabs and I don't think they'd help to make it better. I feel really sorry for him.

And, I just want to say goodbye for now: my parents don't have internet in the house and hopefully, I won't spend much time on the web just because I'm worried, bored or whatever!! Please don't forget me - there might be an occasional post - and hopefully I'll see some of you in real life once we are back :))

Take care and good luck.
Thali

Thaleia · 24/08/2012 16:12

PS: forgot: how do I join the FB group?

marshmallowpies · 24/08/2012 17:59

Thaleia search for 'MN April 2012' on Facebook, hopefully you'll find it!

Hope you enjoy the time away & getting the extra help with R from your mum - we are spending a long weekend away with my mum next weekend, can't wait to have an extra pair of helping hands and I know she is looking forward to seeing DD!

laughingGnomette · 24/08/2012 18:43

Welcome dizzy

I hope you have a nice time thaleia and good luck with the bottle. I hope it works for you.

hug - sorry you didn't get much from your first session. It must have been frustrating.

N's sleep is terrible still and I'm exhausted. He wakes up at least 3 times in the night. I nearly lost it at 3am this morning - he'd been latched on for an hour and I was so tired and uncomfortable :( thankfully he passed out eventually and I was able to get a little sleep. He seems to be hungry like a newborn at the moment.

Apart from the night times he is turning into such a lovely boy and I'm feeling much more confident in my abilities. Took him swimming yesterday and he had such a hilarious determined expression on his face. Sorry, I'm rambling! I hope you all have a great bank holiday weekend!!

gobblegobs · 24/08/2012 19:29

Hidizzy I would feel a fraud if I said welcome to the group as I am fairly new too, however the ladies have been very welcoming and helpful.
I took S to the sea for the first time in Sicily this week. A bit overwhelmed at first but by the end of the week loved it!!!
Have also realised at four months is much better at travelling than his parents Blush
laughing I think I may know that expression! My boy has it as he goes for the toys in his gym. Cracks me up every time .

marshmallowpies · 24/08/2012 19:40

Looks like quite a few of us are trying swimming - I can't wait to take DD again, as the forecast looks so bad for the long weekend Angry at least the upside is we can still go swimming (though I guess the world & his wife will probably have the same idea).

Gobble I would love the chance to swim with DD in the sea...not much chance of that here! We might go away with the PIL next year as they have a timeshare place, and the swimming in the sea aspect is a BIG plus for me. (there is a salt-water swimming pool too).

hugandroll · 24/08/2012 19:55

Well dh has a week off and I'm soooo grateful. Any of you who I'm friends with on Facebook will have seen my afternoon, at one point I just sat on the floor singing nursery rhymes to a who was in the middle of a screaming fit while ds1 was kicking me in the head (not hard just irritating and wouldnt stop). I found myself rocking and staring at the wall .

I have just eaten a load of chocolate, gone way over my calories for today, feel a bit sick now but going to put a film on and chill, no workout today as I can't be arsed

VintageNancy · 24/08/2012 19:57

Got a little nap-refuser on my hands. She's napped for about 20 mins total so far today (it's almost noon). What's going on??! She'd normally have had at least a 45min one at about 10 and be ready for another one at 1. Think I'm going to have to put her in the carrier & hope she nods off in it at some point!

thedizzy1 · 24/08/2012 20:44

Thankyou everyone for making me feel so welcome! We had another rubbish night in sleep terms - hourly wake ups , and when I finally got her to settle then dp woke her by snoring- eventually got her off again, then just lay, seething with rage as his epic snores kept me awake for the next 2 hours!! it really helps to know that I'm not the only one in the world awake in the very early hours- it can feel very lonely .
hugandroll it sounds like you've had an awful day... chocolate is the least you deserve- I hope your dh helps next week. Also might need those grippy shoes as am currently addicted to pick n mix and I'm not entirely sure they should be a breakfast staple? !
Thaleia I hope you get a real rest at your parents- although I did have a little eyebrow raise at the .gp suggesting you sleep more- as if it's that easy with a newborn! I hope r feels better soon as well.
I wanted to ask , as everyone seems ever so organised compared to me, if you've all been taking your los swimming independently or if anyone has done the courses?? I think I'd like to take n on one, but the only one I found was £500- which was a bit of a deterrent!Does anyone have a recommendation ??
Anyway hooray for the weekend finally arriving- dp does the night wakes on a Friday and Saturday so as well as a takeaway I'll be having a big glass of wine and a bubble bath in a minute... bliss! hope you all have a good night.

HollyPockett · 24/08/2012 20:53

dizzy DD loves her swimming 'lessons'! We go with Aquatots. She really seems to be a water baby and just loves being in the pool. It's a tiny private pool in a house that the owners rent out to Aquatots. it was just over £100 for 12 lessons. Def worth it for us

newmummyvicky · 24/08/2012 21:30

Hi girls and welcome to dizzy, nice to have a new member!

Lyra enjoys swimming we just take her on our own, and last time with my two nephews of 4 and 6 years. was pretty fun, lots of splashing. Anyone dunked there baby????? How did it go????
A bit scared to do it after slip in the bath!
We have signed up to baby sensory classes, which she loves.

Night sleeping is going well just wakes once now, at 2/3am then through till 5/6am. Gives hope to you with younger babies. L is 21 weeks now.
She refusing all bottles now if awake, even expressed milk! hopefully its just a faze. Because I wont be able to leave her! :(

lots of touching toes, and sitting up un aided for a few mins. No more rolling and we had blowing raspberry but only few days!

marshmallowpies · 24/08/2012 22:14

Dizzy we're taking her swimming on our own as we are trying to move house & although we aren't planning to move far, the various local pools are dotted around the area and I don't want to commit to lessons in one place and then find it's not as convenient when we move.

Just checked there is a pool at the hotel we are going to next weekend, hurrah. Will be able to take DD in for some fun, and then have a proper swim & sauna myself while DM or DH look after the young lady.

hugandroll · 24/08/2012 23:44

dizzy I will be taking ds2 myself when term starts but he hasn't been yet as I can't take them both on my own. Trying to get swimming lessons for ds1 as his were all cancelled. I have gym membership with the council so swimming will be a "free" activity so I'm looking forward to it if a enjoys it will go weekly.

I watched one flew over the cuckoos nest for the first time today - what a film! I have made a list of films that I haven't seen that I really should/want to. Any suggestions? Won't say what's on the list or what I've seen as I will take up the whole thread but I'm open to any suggestions other than westons :).

digitalgirl · 25/08/2012 02:32

Back from Devon! Have been lurking but wifi was hit and miss so didn't post. We took ds2 swimming a couple of times and he loved it! No dunking but he choked on a bit of pool water and now holds his head up pretty high if I hold him flat on his stomach in the water.

Ds2 waking lots at night after previously being a great sleeper till about 15 weeks. I'm hoping it was the unfamiliar travel cot he was sleeping in as he settled fine in his own cot tonight.

Drive back was hard. He cried most of the second half back so we had to stop more. Whole journey took 9 hours including stops. Phew! Knackered now.

Have a hen thing tomorrow where dh will be trying a bottle of expressed milk on ds2. Hasnt had a bottle ever...

Welcome dizzy!

And thaleia hope you're feeling reassured by a lot of the advice on here. I'm no expert on pnd but I do know that all of my friends who have had it have felt so much better having their anxiety and feelings of inadequacy justified - and usually after a course of medication do start feeling much better and more capable of dealing with the stresses of babyhood.

Now I started this post at bedtime and have only just got round to posting it during the first night feed. So that's 7pm-2am. Not bad.
