Apologies for the rubbish thread title - thought I'd cobble something together though!

vicky no idea how many feeds DS has per day. Have never really counted or timed them. There is a pattern to them though. Let me think.

Between 9am and 10pm maybe 6 feeds, roughly 2 hours apart and about 25 minutes long, a quick feed at 11pm when we go to bed then one in the night but he basically cluster feeds from about 5.45am until 7.45am - then starts again at about 9am.

Looking forward to going to Finland in August to see my parents again and the rest of my family and friends to meet DD for the first time! :) That's our only trip this summer but then in October hopefully going elsewhere . Been looking around and maybe we'll go to the Caribbean ; Anguilla or Nevis for instance ( haven't been there except to Dominican Republic ). DS and DH are big on water sports . Both windsurf and sail etc . DS loves the water and the beach in general...

newmummyvicky · 20/07/2012 14:13

fliss you sound similar to me, but my last feed is at 10ish a dream feed! 6 in the day then 2 to 3 at night. After that she only goes to 1-2am. she hasn't gone pass that time in ages.
I wish she feed longer than 10mins, but that's just her! Don't think she will change untill i introduced solids. I Maybe naughty and do it at 5 months instead of 6.
She is very forward doing things. She loves her weight on Her legs, supporting her head and rolling over!

Hi All! Welcome Gobble-your life in Dubai sounds v glamorous! We've had disastrous Internet problems over last few weeks & a week of holidays (in Donegal, not lovely Sardinia or Sicily-a home from home cottage owned by hubby's family & recently renovated by DH). So I've missed you all! Lovely to catch up on how all the babies & mummies are getting on. Sad baby here last night & today & have ended up giving paracetamol & Teetha. second injections were 2 days ago & think the teething has ramped up. V much a mummy's girl & also now refusing the bottle (which she's only offered if I have to go out so once every couple of weeks. Had a Physio app today). DH feeling a bit put out as DD stops crying straight away if I take her off him. Still sleeping really well at night & think she's doing 5-6 feeds a day? Any other BF babies have really stinky nappies? Last 2 days they've been awful greenish & smelly; related to teeth!??? Any ideas?
Emily naps in her bed; which is her pram on a Moses basket stand. She'll sometimes sleep in her carseat, but generally cries too much when in it to sleep! Now she goes down into bed drowsy & pops her thumb straight in & goes off to sleep. She's getting almost too big for her pram though & we're going to have to get the cot up. Still in our room & will be till she's 6mths.
3 is def our family complete. We thought 2 was LOL!! got a surprise with Em, and now couldn't imagine life without her! But realistically it's too tight financially to think about any more babies. My job is niche & I wouldn't get another like it, so a career break is out of the question. Childcare for 3 will be tough, for 4 just prohibitive.

gobblegobs · 21/07/2012 09:14

Good morning all!
Jelly I think teething has started here too. Grin
I think living here has its pros and cons. Days are incredibly lonely, no post natal clubs, extra ordinarily hot climate, not very baby friendly to venture out however as we are here for a short stint we try to maximise our experience of the city. There are occasional art exhibitions, however (may be I am not that aware) most weekend evenings, we end up going out for drinks and dinner. We are the only couple with a young baby in our newly formed circle of acquaintances. Hoping to make short weekend trips once weather cools down to other middle eastern cities to soak up on the culture.
Catching on the discussion late, would like another baby, but don't know when is the ideal time...

Jellybellyrbest · 21/07/2012 09:28

Yes Gobble. I can imagine it's a lonely existence where you are. Sunny climes not good for babies & being unable to feed in public v prohibitive. My DH works away on & off & I find it lonely enough at times when I can't get out of the house.! Hope you do find places to go/things to do as time goes by....the Middle Eastern adventures sound fab though!!
As for another baby, I think there are pros & cons to all scenarios. There are 2yrs & 1mth between our first DDs & they're great buddies ATM. Having a 4.5 yr gap between DD2& 3 means Emily won't have that close sibling friendship possibly until they're all older. But; I count my younger sister as my closest friend & there are 5 years between us. I also feel I'll be able to give Em more of my attention than I was able to give DD2 when she was a baby, which is nice.

hugandroll · 21/07/2012 23:10

Ok totally pointless and Vom inducing post but I look at my boys (including the newly 30 year old one ;) ) and cannot believe how much I love them, didn't know it was possible and feel so lucky to have my family. After a very unsettled and sometimes really crappy childhood I am blessed.

newmummyvicky · 22/07/2012 09:06

Sorry to keep complaining,
L's sleeping at night is getting worst. She was up at 12am, 330am and 530am always looking for bf.
Don't know what to try? I can't even remember now her sleeping for more that 4hrs straight!
Might go back to swaddling and try the last feed a fomular top up!
She did sleep yesterday in the day for 4hrs, from 1ish in the after till 445. She was round my mums so not much i could do.
Also we normally put her to bed the latest at 9pm but she wouldn't go till 11pm. Then up at 1230, after feeding her at 10pm.
I was thinking babies got better with there sleeping, when they got older??????
But she is going backwards :(

Flisspaps · 22/07/2012 09:14

newmummyvicky isn't L 15w? I'd google the 4 month sleep regression - that sounds a likely candidate.

Love that Hug!

Yep smack in the middle of the 4 month regression here, + DD looks enormous this morning! Vicky, sleep is the first thing to suffer as they reach developmental milestones. When they learn to crawl, walk etc it's really common for their sleep to go out the window as their brain processes the new skill. Don't panic! There's little you can do to fix it though, just ride it out best you can. But it is quite normal!

gobblegobs · 22/07/2012 09:26

hugandroll lovely post. Thanks for such a sweet start to the day Thanks

hugandroll · 22/07/2012 09:29

Blush anytime :)

Sorry to hear some of you are having a hard time in the nights, sleep depravation is horrible (as am I if I'm suffering it).

VintageNancy · 22/07/2012 14:26

That's lovely hug :)

Vicky - sleep is really bad here too. Similar timings as you actually. From what I've read in wonder weeks it's to be expected. Let's hope it gets better! But in the meantime take heart that you're not the only one!

VintageNancy · 22/07/2012 14:34

I've just read something that makes sense. Em gets really distracted when feeding during the day - too much to look at and will often break off to smile at me (cute!). So maybe she's not eating very much & is making up for it at night.

gobblegobs · 22/07/2012 15:25

Typical morning in Gobble household:
0600
DS : wakes up, coos and chuckles. looks like would like to picked up. Smiles
Me/DH: Sleepily turn on the mobile play unit hoping will entertain him
0610
DS: Bored with the unit. Starts cooing louder as if to say won't it be fun if someone played with me.
Me to DH: why don't you have some father son time as you will be off to work soon
Unconvinced looking DH: would love to honey but i think he is hungry
Sleep deprived me: Not hungry, he wants cuddles and play
DH: Sounds hungry to me
0620
DS: Now complaining noises
Me:Feeling guilty for ignoring DS's calls to play, sleepwalk over. Any annoyance immediately melted away by the reward of a gummy grin. Offer boob. Not interested.
0630
Baby in our bed, sleepy mama trying to entertain with rattle. Really excited DS showing off newly acquired skills as arching the back, aiming for the rattle
0640
Sleepy DH: Given up trying to get a few extra minutes in bed. He makes coffee for us and brings it over.
0700
We are both wide awake thanks to the coffee and entertainment.
DH gets ready to leave
DS now yawning.
0715
DS asleep. DH left for work. Mrs Gobs wide awake wondering if should have left baby to play on his own and snatched those precious winks. Resolves to make DH play with the baby the following day so can lie in.

Next day dawns, cycle repeats itself

digitalgirl · 22/07/2012 16:17

Lol at gobblegobs morning.

Ds2 sometimes is up for the day at 7, sometimes can put him back after a 2 min feed and he'll go till 8. He'll have a 2 min feed, I'll change his nappy dress him then usually take him downstairs and have my breakfast and a coffee. Depending on plans that day I'll have a shower while he's under the mobile - then about an hour after he's woken he'll have a long feed then nap.

Extra night feeds happening here too. Was even up at 10:30pm the other night which hasn't happened since he was 4 weeks. He's 15 weeks tomorrow so seems a bit soon for the 4 month sleep regression - but maybe he's gearing up for it and is working his way up to even more wakings!

For the first time ever I've had to take the morning after pill. Not quite the way I wanted to celebrate our first shag post-childbirth. Quite upset this has happened, made me realise that although I've not closed the book on anymore children I am absolutely not ready to be pregnant again right now, nor deal with another miscarriage. Thinking about getting the coil fitted, had anyone else done this and how reliable is it?

Thaleia · 22/07/2012 17:39

What a glorious weekend - the sun makes all the difference.

R started to vomit again ... I'm not sure if the formula makes a difference to his weight whatsoever. I've spoken to the pharmacist and she said that medication might help but I need to see a GP about it. I feel so sorry for him as he's waking up constantly and is always hungry. Of course, his little belly is empty. I hope he stays on his line, I can't bear another visit from a HV.

We usually also have a pattern but every time I think "ok, this is it", it changes again. At the moment, we have 5.45am feeds with him going back to sleep at around 7.30am. Great.

I think, I make my son's day as soon as he's allowed to be in the Baby Bjorn facing outwards. All he wants to do is look around, which is sweet but although he's small, he's very heavy on the arm!!

JambalayaCodfishPie · 22/07/2012 22:36

DD is 3 months old today, it's going by so fast. Sad

hugandroll · 23/07/2012 08:05

Aaron is 12 weeks today, not sure where the time has gone its too fast.

He's back in 0-3 clothes today as its warm he's in shorts romper so don't need the length. Hope you're all ok.

newmummyvicky · 23/07/2012 11:47

Hi ladies yes dd is 16 weeks on Wednesday, im glad im am not alone, its just I had 2 friends with ff babies and they seem to sleep for 10-11hrs straight. I know U shouldn't compare them, but its hard not too.

I can understand about the 4 month sleep regression, there little minds must be so active. She looks like she wants to crawl now, when U put her on her belly. Lol

She is also very nosiey when feeding, she pulls off smile and looks around is stuff is going on. I still think she is small for her age and her little tiny tummy probally still can't hold much!

She is also very chatty at night, poor dh was kept up for work, he has too leave at 530am. He slept on the couch last night. After calming me down at 2am, I was crying due to lack of sleep. :(

VintageNancy · 23/07/2012 15:11

I had a bad night. Insomnia & headache. Em slept relatively well (midnight, 4am & 5.30). I'm pretty teary today, DH is worried about me. I think I'm ok just a bit worn out. Also have really sore left boob so suspect a blocked duct.

Have emptied my diary and staying at home today. Not sure if I'd be better going out & seeing people but I think I need some rest.

Vicky sorry you're having a rough time too :(

newmummyvicky · 23/07/2012 15:22

vintageNancy im having a stay at home day too, just had an afternoon nap and feel slightly better. Having a bit of the tears too.

I got my mum too take L to the beach again, giving me a few hours of, makes all the difference!!!!!!
from tomorrow, Dh now has a fews days off.

She was up at 130am and 4am and 830. So a little better. But staying awake for 1-2hrs talking lol.

digitalgirl · 23/07/2012 16:51

Eeesh, up every 2 hours from 1am. And very crabby today. And won't feed much. In this heat.

laughingGnomette · 23/07/2012 17:22

The mums with April babies (DS is slightly younger than all of them) from my NCT group are having more disrupted sleep at the moment too. I hope we don't have the same happen to us, it's only very recently that he has started seeping ok. I hope those of you who are suffering with it at the moment have a good night tonight.

I've cracked the screaming while out in the pram problem. Playing a hairdryer recording on my phone to him while we are out works a treat. I'm sure we get some funny looks while we are out but I'd rather that than a screaming baby! :)

We've had a lovely afternoon out in the park with a couple of other new mums. The babies loved the breeze and watching the leaves on the trees. This is what I imagined my maternity leave would be like so I'm happy summer has finally arrived (even if it is only brief!).
