Apologies for the rubbish thread title - thought I'd cobble something together though!

Welcome back Thalia!

Well, it's happened - DD is cutting her first tooth at the grand old age of twelve weeks. Sad

I'd expected it as DD1 cut her first tooth even earlier (but then had no more come through until 6 months)

My poor baby is feeling proper sorry for herself. Sad

Nordicmom · 17/07/2012 21:32

Hi Thaleia , welcome back . Glad you are starting to feel better :) !
Rose isn't rolling yet but is trying at times. Grabbing at things . More interested in toys . Eating her hands a lot and dribbling rivers... We've really gotten the hang of a proper bed time routine in the last few weeks and she just goes to bed with no problems ! Has slept through a few times but normally has two long stretches of sleep with a feed in the middle . Is being Very hungry and gobbles her milk in record time . We've been giving her 5 1/2 oz and are about to go up to 6 Oz in the next week when she's 3 m . And we've bought the hunhgry baby formula to see if that would fill her up longer. I think it must be another growth spurt. She's 12 w now and several of her baby gros are too short . All the dresses and trousers etc will fit for a while , not hugely tall anymore ( 50 percentile a month ago) and has a little waist . I'm planning to go have her weighed and measured again soon , am interested to hear if she's stayed at the same curve unlike dropping from birth over 90 per to 50 per by 2 m age. To me she looks similar proportions so think she might be at the same .
It's interesting comparing the experiences of having a first child to a second one. To me it's been completely different! Time seems to fly by because there's so much more going on. With DS the first weeks and months seemed to last forever and I was bored , lonely etc but this time it all goes so quickly by... I worried and at times obsessed about everything . This time I've just gotten on with it , haven't really even had time to over think things . I'm surprised how confident I've felt after all these years since we had a long gap (7 y) . On the other hand it is more tireing and logistically a juggling act ... It is just different

Nordicmom · 17/07/2012 21:35

Wow Jambalaya ! That is early !! Was it you that said your first one got a tooth at 9 w? DS was 5 m which must be more average . Well all this chewing ( like a puppy) and dribbling must be for a reason...

marshmallowpies · 17/07/2012 21:44

Thaleia glad to have you back...I agree getting out of the house is the key thing,

I'd be lost without my BF support group (did you manage to find one near you?) and have my first NCT local mums meet up next week. (my own NCT group from my course are lovely but none live in walking distance so I only see them every other week or so).

The way I see it now is a day at home where I've got nothing planned or not meeting up with anyone is a rare treat so I enjoy it as a 'day off' rather than something to dread.

Also planning my first cinema trip this week, to a 'big scream' baby friendly showing. Can't wait...if I actually make it there...

JambalayaCodfishPie · 18/07/2012 06:39

Nordic Yep, that was me. Must be something hereditary! Sad

HollyPockett · 18/07/2012 09:10

So good to hear from you Thaleia! Great that you're on the mend and that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

No rolling here either fliss. Just lots of kicking and arching of the back.

Off to buggy workout this morning, God help me!

HenriettaChicken · 18/07/2012 09:14

Good morning, all. Hope you're well. We're getting ready for our trip out this afternoon. Sounds exciting? Well actually it's a mile long walk in the drizzle to the GP for Bill's latest jabs. Sad DH is at work today so I'm going to have to be stronger than last time when I barely held back the tears!

DS is a little possetty today...too many 'throwy uppy' games after his morning feed led to a whole other sort of 'throwy uppy'! I'm hoping this has no impact on him post-jabs - but we have Calpol at the ready just in case.

How're everyone else's days shaping up?

HollyPockett · 18/07/2012 09:18

marshmallow was going to go to Greenwich big scream today but going to buggy workout instead :) I will loose this baby weight!

gobblegobs · 18/07/2012 10:05

Dear all, have been a lurker and occasional poster on MN...and just stumbled upon this group.
Have a lovely April 2012 DS, absolute bliss having him. however DH has been seconded abroad since last month and I have followed him, resulting in a loss of support network, my friends, NCT group...never had much of a family around anyway.
Saw how supportive and close knit this group is, I feel like a gatecrasher but do you mind if I join in?

HenriettaChicken · 18/07/2012 11:22

Welcome, gobblegobs - lovely to have you join. It's a great group here...people really are very supportive. :)

hugandroll · 18/07/2012 11:23

Hi gobblegobs hope you're settling in. Where have you moved?

A seems happier today so far (fingers crossed). We have a 50th birthday BBQ to go to this evening and its peeing down. It's still on but I seriously can't get the motivation to get in the shower and out of my pjs. Will enjoy it once I'm there though and I'm informed there is chocolate cake.

Went to aqua aerobics last night which doesn't really feel like exercise. It's good for me to do something like that though as well as the higher impact exercise as its like a rest day that's not a rest day.

I'm shattered today though and could really do with an early night.

gobblegobs · 18/07/2012 12:51

Yay!!

gobblegobs · 18/07/2012 12:53

So DH has been posted to Dubai for 6 months! I tagged along since on mat leave till march.
Got tempted by sunnier climes...

HollyPockett · 18/07/2012 13:20

Welcome gobblegobs!!

Please send some sun this way :)

Flisspaps · 18/07/2012 13:50

Welcome gobblegobs

DS is currently taking a meganap...he's been down since 10.30am and it's now 1.50pm. Ridiculous. Instead of doing anything round the house I've been making bracelets, watching Jewellery Maker on TV and trying to convince DD to 'have a red smellipop' tomorrow, despite her repeated please Hmm (in fairness she has had an orange 'smellipop' already)

Oh, Rip van Winkle is waking up...!

OP posts:
hugandroll · 18/07/2012 14:09

fliss I was going to ask you what a smellypop is but its clearly a lollypop

gobble yes please send at least dry weather my way I'm so sick of rain.

Well, a is having a right paddy atm, no amount of cuddles is helping so he is in his bouncy chair which I am bouncing with my foot to give my ears and arms a rest for 5. Argh I really did have it easy with ds1 in comparison (unless I just blocked out times like this from my memory).

My af has made her first appearance since having a too so I'm tired and shirty anyway so have cancelled going to the BBQ not in the mood for family small talk (as much as I love my dh family I really do but I don't want to talk to anyone in rl).

laughingGnomette · 18/07/2012 14:15

Wehey Fliss!! Epic sleep by DS!! :)

Thaelia - welcome back! Good to hear that you are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Can I ask what one o'clock clubs are? I'm in North London but I've never heard of them before.

Hats off to all of you ladies who are getting back into your work outs and fitness! I'm such a slacker.

My DS is still hating the pushchair/travel system. I've tried in carry cot/chair and carseat modes and he always cries after about 10 minutes in it unless he is really sleepy. I'm going to try and take him out in the Ergo sling later which he is not massively keen on but I think he is starting to grow into it (his legs used to be positioned froggy style in it and now they are starting to fit a bit more straddled which he seems more comfy with).

On the plus side, he slept through for the third night in a row last night. After being a bit of a nightmare sleeper before, this is a very welcome change!!!

Aww bless him, I've just noticed that he has fallen to sleep on his baby gym mat! :)

gobblegobs · 18/07/2012 14:31

Well there is sun and then there is baking 48 degrees...centigrade!!
Evenings are cooler but humid...however have been assured of cooler days past august...seeing is believing so waiting...

No mother and babies groups here, though there are coffee mornings where everyone is welcome. However BF in public is a big no no so guess will have to wait till DS is older, on solids, which will take us into autumn anyway!

So far the only other person I have seen carrying the baby in a sling has been my reflection in a store mirror!

People are extremely friendly and polite though and hospitality is exemplary which more than makes up for the weather.

Nordicmom · 18/07/2012 15:15

Welcome gobblegobs!

HenriettaChicken · 18/07/2012 16:01

Well we're back from the jabs...Bill was great. Only cried a little and then settled back into his car seat. We walked back home and he's asleep now. He hasn't had a feed in 4h but I'm not going to wake him after such an ordeal.

OK - that's uncanny: he's just woken up and is looking fretful. Bring on the boob!

dreamc1 · 18/07/2012 16:25

gobblegobs; we are moving back to Dubai in 2 mths time. Where abouts are you? We lived in Dubai 2 years ago for a year, curently in the UK, getting shipping quotes etc.

dreamc1 · 18/07/2012 16:32

Oh, and Harry has a cold, bless him. Sleepless nite last nite as he couldn't breathe properly. He's very grumpy at the mo. x

gobblegobs · 18/07/2012 16:52

Hey Dreamc1, we live right across Jumeirah beach! Am excited another MNer is coming over! ( jumping emoticon)

dreamc1 · 18/07/2012 17:14

gobblegobs; ah ok. We are moving to Arabian Ranches 26th September. We used to live in JBR.

LaTristesse · 18/07/2012 19:52

Good to have you with us Gobble! Lord knows how I'd cope with no public bf?! Become a hermit for a few years I guess!

Yes do tell, what's a one o'clock club?
