Yep, mopsy, me! There's an incredibly creepy baby with a combover and butterfly in one of them. I think it's just the mobile site.

DS wasn't happy in his highchair at all today :( I think the angle is wrong and may have to buy a more upright sort. Also the garage rang and it will cost £310 to fix the aircon as two pipes have cracked. I know nothing about aircon but it seems darned expensive! Arg (waves bye bye to 2 weeks' SMP). And DS is in right clingy mode so I've got nothing done, I'm gonna have to try him with bottles again cos I need DH to get some confidence in feeding him, I am knackered in this heat and want at least the option of a break.

sorry for the moan!!!

Thanks for all the advice and support from everyone. Have taken it on board and have a bag of important stuff in my car should I need to make a quick exit. Have also looked into money etc and once i'm back at work it should be quite easy for me to manage to rent somewhere etc. My mum is coming up on Thursday for a few days and hopefully can look after the baby so DP and I get a chance to talk. Having a plan is definatly making me feel a bit more in control of the situation.

I would rather get to the bottom of it all because I do love him, but if things don't change then DS is my priority and I'll have to go.

Glad your FIL and DP seem to be on the mend MissRee and hope your Dad's op goes ok.

Exciting about the marathon Seven, DS is also turning onto his tummy in his sleep now, but ive given up turning him back as he turns straight over within a couple of minutes!

That does sound expensive about the aircon aethel but I know nothing about cars and always think they sound expensive!

bjr nothing to add to the advice you've already been given, but just thought I'd add that following on from me dropping my nephew last week, when DH got up for work the next morning he failed to put a pillow between DS and the edge of the bed. I wasn't really awake but heard the thud and found DS face down on the floor...no obvious lumps or bumps, but DH returned to the bedroom after his shower to find me breastfeeding with tears streaming down my face. His helpful response when I explained Seb had rolled off the bed?

""What is WRONG with you??" Angry

Hmmmm, great way of making me feel less guilty...we have since had words and he has apologised. The idiot actually thought that was an appropriate time to make a joke

Incidently DNephew seems fine...family legend has already upgraded my clumsiness/crap parenting error to attempted murrrrrderrrrr (in a Taggart stylie)

BJR Good that you've got a bag in the car. Where are all the important docs like passports, birth Certs etc? Hopefully you & DP can have a good chat soon. If you need some breathing space your welcome for a break down south Smile

Seven Keep meaning to post about your DH. I think he is wonderful for running the marathon for your charity. I'd be more than happy to sponsor him.

Darcie just seems to be annoying today Sad I don't want to be a mean mummy today but she's just there and constantly talking or being impatient..ho hum!

I am dreading the day when BOi rolls his way off the bed/sofa/... kitty. It's inevitable that it will happen.
bjr glad you're feeling more in control. Sounds positive.
I'm in germany. Meetings have been quite good. Now sat in office, being polite and not going to the hotel early for no good reason whatsoever. I really need to pump and dump soon. I hate this uncomfortable swollen feeling. I last fed BOi at 4.25am.
home tomorrow... can't wait. just hope i get the benefit of a good night's sleep tonight. bob knows i could really do with one night of uninterrupted rest after 9 months of crap sleep!

BJR glad to hear you're feeling more in control. Hope you manage to have a calm chat and clear the air when your mum visits.

oi enjoy the sleep!

Have just spent what feels like my entire life uploading photo's to Tesco photo.com, "creating" a fathers day card and keyring, updated my bloody address details (apparently this part of tesco.com does not link and update from my blinking clubcard account), and they want to charge me more for delivery than for the bloody card and keyring! Don't they know I'm on maternity leave??????

Off to check out moonpig.com etc

Have arrived at the hotel. It's a lovely place, specialises in wine. Only today it is CLOSED. It looks like they've booked a room for me because my company is a good customer. But no restaurant, so no wine.
No mini bar. The tv doesn't work. No Internet connection. And would you believe there's a mini hifi in the room with a cassette deck!! I cba going out to the nearest village, so looks like am early night! There's not even a bath. :(
So very not impressed!

Grrr, have been looking at highchairs online and the one that seems most suitable/simple/affordable is Ikea's Antilop chair with a blow-up insert. Except Ikea charge £7.50 delivery for it and vitally don't sell the £5 blow-up insert online. Some crafty beggar on ebay does sell it, but for a tenner instead of a fiver. So do I want to spend £32 on what should be a £20 highchair but get it delivered, or haul my arse (and DS's) all the way to croydon? I think actually given the cost of petrol it's probably easiest to soak the delivery charges and hope like hell it fits DS better than the chicco folding one that will probably be great when he's one but is bog all use at the moment. (this is getting silly: I already have a totseat and a mothercare folding travel booster, but he's not big enough for them either.)

Hope you chaps are less grumpy than me: oi, enjoy your sleep!

NorthernChinchilla · 29/05/2012 19:54

Everyone recommends the Antilop on here aethel, and we're going to get one but have the same dilemma- cost of delivery or human cost of going to the sixth circle of hell Ikea and buying one.

We're planning on delivery, but we're actually going right past one at the weekend so may gird loins and do it...

Hope your stay in 1980s Germany is working out OK Oi! Of all the places they could have sent you...

So glad to hear that it's all OK with the family kitty - was sure it would be, but when you're in the midst of it, it just feels like the worst thing ever. Sadly, you will have to put up with the jokes about it, at every family gathering, for the next 18 years.... Grin

Glad you're sounding positive BJR; just taking control of the situation makes you feel a whole lot better. I hope your DP starts behaving in a more kind and adult way towards you and DS because you deserve it.

And so pleased to hear your FIL's on the mend MissRee, and fingers crossed it's good news for your Dad next week!

Not a bad day here- the £20 had not been claimed, so DP, DS and I went out for lunch, and bought a box of chocs for the office of which I've had four, so spread the bunce around Smile! DS charmed everyone, and was unusually smiley.

Just waiting for DP to get back with the shopping so I can eat, am so huuuungry.

And question for ladies of the thread- toys in cot.

DS has been bought loads, and is loving them to an early death. All soft toys, animals, etc. When is it safe for him to have them in his cot and have a cuddle for his nap/bedtime, etc?

Report
AWomanCalledHorse · 29/05/2012 20:04

Northen, we have a lullaby singing frog, DS cuddles upto him to sleep then we take it out when he falls asleep.
He sleeps like DH, on his front looking like he's passed out after a night out!

athel, we went for this booster as we live in the worlds smallest flat.
Boo on the aircon, ours went the day we took DS home from hospital...so we were driving on the 22nd Dec with the windows down. Cracked pipes would be a bitch to get to so I guess the price is more labour than replacement parts.

Oi...in 10 years time you'll have to explain to BOi what cassettes are. Shock

BJR, I hope everything works out the way you want. x

All of freya's teddies are in the foot end of her cot and always have been. She can only shuffle backwards so no risk of her getting them I don't even think she knows they're there

I let her cuddle "Raffi" for her daytime naps but not her nighttime naps. She's pretty much asleep as soon as her head hits the mattress anyhoo Grin

Envy MissRee, DS keeps himself away for ages rolling back and forth.
We had to get rid of the cot bumpers as he goes up/down and swings his legs over them.

Report
aethelfleda · 29/05/2012 21:17

Northern, the main advice re cots is no choking risks in them: if a baby falls face first onto a plush teddy and their face sinks in they may not have the co-ordination to wriggle free to breathe. So if you're being cautious avoid all cuddlies, pillows, duvets and cot bumpers until baby is about a year minimum. This is the what the cot death charities recommend anyway. Some babies like a toy to play with as they get bigger, you can get "safe" strap on activity centres for cots.

Good luck misresd, I recommend the park with an asphalt path and grass either side, start on the grass and then try the path!!

MissRee · 29/05/2012 21:22

We're going to take him to the local park to start with. I figure we go to this one in particular as it has a no dogs rule so he won't fall in dog poo! The local promenade is a nightmare for dog poo unfortunately and of course we don't want him to go for a swim in the Thames either

I recommend ordering two Antilops if you are thinking of having more DCs, then you only pay one delivery charge and it makes it seem more worth it! Our second one has been in the loft since DS was 6 months.

DD loves sitting in hers and watching DS eat. DD is 26 weeks next week so going to start weaning at the weekend so DH is around to help me mop up all the mess experience the excitement.

Thanks gee but this is TOTALLY our last DC: I think four children would tip me over the edge :) I made the decision to pass on ALL of our baby stuff after DD2 and actually flogged our old highchair (a Stokke) ar an NCT sale... But this time have been overwhelmed by the number of kind friends and relatives who have passed me stuff. We've bought very little new this time around (buggy, bottle stuff that DS won't touch, ha , the odd bit of clothing). It's also a storage space thing, esp if we need to move I don't want to haul lots of just-in-case stuff with us.

Right, bed time for me. See you all tomorrow

It took a while to get to sleep, but then I slept very well until my boobs became so painful! Now in bed with the pump going -with a pillow over the pump to muffle the sound, just in case there is someone else unfortunate enough to be stuck here!
